  1. I filed only last month but am wanting to send my husband whatever he will need from me for the interview now. I know I need to send him my birth certificate and divorce decree. Is there anything else anyone can think of? Later on do I need to send him copies of my paycheck stubs and the letters from my employers? Any help as always will be greatly appreciated.

you need to provide your divorce decree (original or certified) to your husband for an interview.

All affidavit of support related documents must be submitted to NVC along with your I-864 form. Include your last 1 or 2 pay stubs with your employment letter from your workplace and last three years IRS tax return transcripts. Send a copy of your last year's tax return to your husband for an interview.

  2. Hi all,

i just paid the AOS bill. My wife is in Manila and Im in the USA. Can she print and sign the DS-3032 and email it to the NVC? If so does it need the cover letter with it and which email address would she mail it to?

    Thanks a lot

just ask your wife to shoot an email from her registered email account mentioned to NVC. Use email template available on VJ for DS-3032 form.

  3. Yes this website has been a great help to us. That is not the problem. The problem is finding someone to help with the affidavit of support. My friend said they would do it but they have had everything they have needed for a month now and are in no hurry to send the papers to me. Time is running out and we are tired of asking everyday if they are going to send me the papers needed for the affidavit of support. All we want is to be together and don't care if it is here in the USA or in Morocco. All that is important is being together.

why are you trying to cancel your application??????? Talk to someone in family who may be able to help you out for AOS. Don't just give up so easily. Life is not always simple but you have to fight to get your way out. Good luck

  4. I sent in my AOS with taxes and paystubs. Do I call NVC to see if they processed it or will they contact me

NVC will send you an email only if there is a checklist issued from AOS review, otherwise they will send an email only when interview date is scheduled. Call NVC everyday to get AOS review updates.

I hope my journey ends very soon...lets see in cumin months..... :) :)

Immigration visa with a cap per year really sucks but you know there is always a light at the end of a tunnel :) So better stay positive and things will work out in your favor soon

  7. Hi everyone.

We are very happy that we are approved at Mumbai consulate on 10th. Waiting in Mumbai itself to get the passport with visa stamped. Yesterday, same day of interview went to VFS Mumbai and today but the passport is not arrived to them yet. The guy with IR1 gave interview with me on the same day have got his passport today but not me :crying: we are little bit concerned.

Please tell us if I get my visa on the same day or not. And how many days it takes to collect it from the Mumbai VFS.

Check VFS website to track your passport status. Our CR1 interview as on 9/7. They shipped passport with visa package on 9/10 (due to weekend) and delivered at home on next day.

  8. So, I filed for I-130 back in December 2011, I-130 was received by USCIS on January 12th, 2012 after that it has been in the same status "Initial Review" currently. I called USCIS and the rep said that he would send out an request which back in April 2012 and was told to wait 45 days for response. Its september 10, 2012 now as of this writing and just a week ago, I called back and I was told to email (forgot the email at time of writing) for a followup. It seems that this is taking wayyy tooo long and am wondering if I should get a lawyer now. Its something i'd have hard time affording but I feel as though waiting will just delay it longer.

Anyone know any good family lawyers in Madison, Wisconsin? Any advice would be much appreciated.

This is highly unusual case. We filed around the same time and got our visa interview done last week at Mumbai Consulate. So yes, you need to take immediate actions to speed things up at USCIS. Call USCIC ASAP and ask to talk to tier-2 officer (they have more insights to your case then regular operators). Ask them to give an update of this status immediately. Also contact your local congressman to help push things at USCIS. Don't just keep waiting for USCIS to repond, because you have already passed normal processing window time frame.

  9. First, go ahead and create your timeline on VJ. So it helps others to know more about your petition.

AFAIK F2A and IR-1/CR-1 visa have the same procedure except the fact that F2A category has a cap per year due to petitioner being LPR and not USC.

Read these two links in detail to understand procedure after NOA2, and you may ask specific questions here on VJ:

Regarding your IRS Transcript question, you will need IRS Transcript or IRS Tax Return Copy along with W-2 and other income stubs. IRS Transcript is the better option and we only provided that in our CR-1 petition. You will need last 3 years IRS Transcript when NVC is ready to process your application. You can request IRS transcript online at anytime for free and will receive it in 10 business days. Since you have another 6 to 9 months wait, I would advice to wait till you get NOA2 and then request transcripts for last three years.

Your husband will need to bring your latest income tax return copy (1040/A) during interview at Mumbai Consulate because NVC will forward all your submitted documents to Consulate prior to your interview. Hope this clarifies your any doubts in mind! Good luck

  10. I have compiled a list of standard questions which can be asked to IR-1/CR-1 applicants during an interview at Mumbai Consulate in India. There could be many more questions based on your case but following are the standard questions that I have observed been asked many times in last 3 to 4 years during IR-1/CR-1 interview at Mumbai Consulate.

Hope this helps to other applicants who may have interview coming up soon at Mumbai Consulate. Good luck!

NOTE: These questions are based on the assumption that petitioner is husband and applicant is wife.

  11. Here's our most recent CR-1 visa experience at Mumbai Consulate with all details:

Same can be found in Review section as well: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=10351

    =============================================================================================================================================================

Arrived Mumbai Consulate at 6:25am. Security personals were instructing applicants to stand-in immigration or non-immigration queue based on your petition type.

I was about 7th in immigration applicants queue. By 6:40am there were about another 80 to 90 people added in immigration queue.

Officers instructed immigration applicants to enter consulate and complete security check-in at the entrance at 7:15am.

NOTE: Officers instructed to keep only first page of NVC interview letter outside (all other pages are not needed for interview).

I already had all my belongings placed in one bag so completed security check-in quickly and became 3rd in immigration queue.

Entered main interview lounge area for pre-screen interview with Indian Consulate officer (female officer mostly in early 30s). Pre-screen started around 7:25 while other immigrant applicants were still entering consulate.

FYI, they opened around 3 windows initially and within few minutes about 10 windows were opened where Indian officers were doing pre-screen for all immigrant applicants (Window # 1 to 10).

    Questions during pre-screen interview:

    1. Which language would you prefer to give your interview?

------ She asked my name and went in to search my VFS package. It took her about 5 to 10 minutes and she came back with a big package and returned all VFS submitted documents to me (except Medical Report and Passport Clearance Certificate aka PCC Report) --------

    2. Who is calling you?

    3. Where does your husband live?

    4. Do you have your husband\'s 2011 Income Tax Return copy with you?

Took finger prints of both hands and then I was asked to wait for an interview to be called with an American CO in few minutes.

Pre-screen completed at around 7:45am and kept monitoring my token number to show up in TV Screen.

I observed that all pre-screen was done by 8:00am and first 10 windows got closed. Within 5 minutes about 5 to 10 windows opened with all American Consulate officers and they were getting ready to start the real interview.

My token number showed up on screen around 8:15am.

American CO (white female in her late 30s) was sitting in front of PC to add her notes in our case.

CO: Good Morning! How are you?

Me: Good Morning! I am doing good.

-------- Asked to raise my right hand to take oath ----------------

CO: Who has filled a petition for you?

Me: My husband [ first and last name ] has filled a petition for me.

    CO: Where does he live?

Me: He lives in [ city, state ] in USA

    CO: What does he do?

Me: He works as [ job designation ] in [ company name ].

CO: Is this your arrange or love marriage?

    Me: [ answer ]

CO: How did you meet each other first time?

Me: We met on [ day, month, year ] at [ location ] [ situation when we met ].

CO: How long are you both in this relationship?

Me: Our relationship is since [ day, month, year ] and we got married on [ day, month, year ].

CO: When did you see your husband last time?

Me: He left India on [ day, month, year ] and that is when I saw him last time.

CO: Do you have any photos of your wedding and other events with both you together in pictures?

Me: Sure (I handed over two small albums one with our wedding photos and another album with our trip photos after wedding)

-------- CO patiently inspecting all photos in wedding album------------------------

CO: [ Smiled and gave overwhelming good comments for our wedding pictures ]

Me: Thank you so much! I appreciate it!

--------- CO looked at another album with our trip photos after wedding ---------------

CO: [ Smiled again and gave some really nice comments ]

    Me: Thank you so much!

CO: Which places did you visit in this trip?

Me: We traveled to [ various city names ] during this trip.

CO: [ day, month, year ] looks so beautiful in photos.

    Me: Yes, it was gorgeous!

---------- CO gave me back both albums with a smile on her face -------------------

CO: Congrats! Your visa is approved and you should receive your passport with visa thru mail in next few days!!!!!!!!!

    Me: Thank you!

Checked with consulate employee (who was helping with any general questions near interview lounge entrance) to make sure if there is any other formalities I need to complete.

That\'s it! I was out of the consulate at 8:35am.

    PS:

    1. If both of you are married for the first time and petitioner has good financial situation shown in Affidavit of Support, then there is no need to worry at all. Visa Interview at Mumbai Consulate becomes just a formality for applicant to show up his/her face to American CO and answer some basic questions to prove both of you know each other well.

    2. We kept *only* about 5 email/chat logs (1 per month to show continued relationship for past 5 months with one chat log just 1 week old from interview date) and no phone logs for interview, and CO did not ask any other evidence other than wedding/trip photos.

    3. There is no need to keep a big marriage album if you can make a small album. Windows are so small that you can pass only small album thru window. Make sure your wedding photos include Indian wedding procedures (such as feras, exchanging flower maala etc.). This is a major evidence to prove that you had a genuine wedding ceremony.

    4. DO NOT listen to other people surrounding you (specifically those who have not gone thru actual visa interview procedure but only heard thru their sources with masala gossips added on top of it to scare others).

    5. Be yourself during interview and answer honestly. Don\'t try to make up answers.

    6. Keep petitioner\'s 2011 Income Tax Return photocopy with you for an interview.

  12. Is Mumbai Consulate in India Standard or other ? Does the applicant bring documents to the embassy directly ? or do they send the package to the peticitioner in US ?

Which documents are you referring to here?
