  1. USCIS received our petition (I-130) on Valentines Day Feb. 14th (maybe this is a sign of good luck) and this morning have text and email stating has been transferred to National Benefits Center (MSC). I am seeing some members being approved somewhat fast here. Is there one service center faster than others? This is on the job training for me. Any input? Thanks guys.

I just got my confirmation text and email too. I file petition last Feb 12. Good luck to us!

  2. from USCIS receipt to approval could take anywhere from 1-7 months depending on USCIS workload. After that, ur file is sent to NVC and there, you kind of control the pace cos they move based on how fast you get needed payments and documents to them ( and of course their work load too).

for the NVC stage, you need civil documents like their birth certificates( original and copies), marriage certificates ( original and copies), divorce papers for them if applicable, your own birth and marriage/ divorce certfs if applicable.

go to the guides on this website and study it .

Thank you for your informative comments. I noticed on your timeline; only 5months for your Mom. And to think she missed her appointment. Thanks for sharing your timeline. Great help for someone filling like me.

  3. sorry I don't have answers for you but I'm wondering what documents did you fill out aside from Form I-130?

On the USCIS website it only say 1. Form I-130, 2. A copy of your birth certificate showing your name and your mother’s name, and 3. A copy of your Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. passport if you were not born in the United States.

Is there any other forms/documents i am missing? any help is appreciated. TIA

Thanks SweetGinger. All doc mentioned above was submitted! For my Dad's paper, I added parents' marriage contract. Thanks.

  4. I think your brother in-law misunderstood them. When his visa category changed from F1 to F3 his priority date was no longer current. He can't apply for a visa until his priority date becomes current. In the latest visa bulletin, the cutoff date for an F3 in the Philippines is March 8, 1992 - four years before your mother in-law filed her petition.

I think you should contact NVC and find out why they scheduled an interview when his priority date wasn't current yet.

I will contact NVC. Thank you for your helpful response.

When did your MIL gain US citizenship, and when did she inform USCIS of this fact? B/W you have posted in the LPR forum, but the title says US citizenship, this is confusing to the readers. We are guessing as to which is correct.

I believe my MIL gained her citizenship before she petition her son. Sorry for posting on the wrong category :(

Was the petitioner just an LPR back in 1996 at the time when they filed the petition?

If the answer is yes … Then your case is automatically closed because only USC can petition for married children. The petitioner had to be a USC at the time of filling. All this time that you have been waiting since 1996 is lost!.... breaks my heart !... what a tragedy!

No, the petitioner is USC when she filled petition.

  5. Hi everyone,

My mother-in-law file a petition for her son (married since 1972). We received letter/instruction from NVC, we noticed that beneficiary's status is UNMARRIED on file, we called NVC and clarify that he's been married since 1972. (We file his petition 1996). NVC ask us to submit marriage contract, we did. We received letter asking us to file affidavit of support afterwards instruction to pay for visa processing fee, we did everything. Done and wait.

On April 27, we received letter from NVC stating my brother-in-law is scheduled for an interview on June 16, 2011 at Embassy Manila. So he go to St. Luke's for medical, they didn't allow him to get medical, they're asking him to submit marriage contract to window 38 at US Embassy Manila.

At Embassy Manila, the guy told him, his case is abandoned and useless. That's it!

We are all confused here. Please any idea/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

  6. Please help us with this case.... my sister's husband is a diplomat of Indian Embassy and my sister's tourist visa is expired... The employer of my brother-in-law is willing to support my sister, but we DON'T KNOW HOW TO START THE PROCESS...

POE: long line of new immigrant... the immigrant, visitors and citizens are long lines too.... but they finish first... hence, all officers are free to call us (new immigrant)

immigrant officer ask who's petitioning me, what's the work of my husband, what is my work, do we have a baby? who's waiting for you outside? and he's laughing.... very friendly... after opening my visa packet. he stamped my passport. and guide me to exit to get my baggage...

the lady guard (filipina) check my passport and says: wow, your husband is petitioning you! are you happy now? I reply: VERY happy! she said: that's a very truthful answer! i said: thank you

AT THe CUSTOMS: he just check my blue paper (wherein I put the amount of my baggage about $122.00) and he said: welcome to the united states of america.. they were very friendly!

EXIT: my husband and his brother were standing and waiting for me.

    thank you Lord...

  10. You need the mysterious brown envelope (the one you aren't allowed to open), your passport with the visa in it, and the X-ray. Well, they say you need to bring the x-ray but I have yet to meet or read about anyone who actually had to hand it over at the POE.

I think my x-ray (CD) is inside the envelope from the consulate....

all in all to make it clear... the only thing I need to present at the POE are: PACKAGE & PASSPORT (with VISA)

one part of my mind saying that I need to bring ALL the docs I brought during my interview!!!! lol

    thanks for your reply...

  11. I need your help (again) what are the documents I need to bring with me during my POE???? thanks for replying... God bless you all

Did you received a package from the consulate when you passed the interview? This is the package you'll need to bring with you when come into the USA. They will ask you for them and if they don't you should hand them to them when you arrive at the poe in front of the officers. Good Luck and God Bless.

    Mari & Radu

yes I had received a package from the consulate 2 days after my interview.... it is okay to leave my other documents? like my birth certificate, marriage certificate etc???? thanks... God bless you both Mari & Radu
