  1. I assume the son was mentioned in the paperwork (as a child of yours, since all kids need to be listed), you just didn't apply for a visa for him?

How old is he- it is important to known whether he turned 18 before your USC husband and you married especially.

Yes he was mentioned but it was stated that he was not coming to the US (as that was his choice). He is 18yrs old, and yes he was 18 before we married.

  2. I came to the US on a K1 visa and am now going through the AOS steps. During this whole process my son had NO intensions of moving to the US but now he is on hard times and desperate and is thinking of moving to the US. He was not on the K1 visa and all the paperwork says that no children will be coming with me. I do not know what to do now.. or even how to go about applying for him to be here in the US with us.

    Please help :help:

    P.S. Happy New Year!!!

  3. The OP just moved to the US on her K-1 visa. She hasn't applied for AOS yet. She will need the I-94, however, to apply for AOS.

She is also eligible, as a K-1, to obtain a SSN but she does need to have the I-94 for that.

If you are close enough to the POE where you entered the US you can go back to them and explain the situation, requesting that they put the I-94 in your passport. If you are not close to that POE go to any POE (usually at international airports) and speak to the border control officials - they should have an office in the area - and they should be able to help you out.

You will want to do this soon as you cannot apply for a SSN if you are within 2 weeks of the I-94 expiring - the I-94 will be dated 90 days after your admission to the US.

    - Thank you all for your help and answers, but sadly that makes me just as upset as before, the POE that we entered in is the farthest possible one from where I am now :(. And the closest major airport is about a 3 hr drive away :(

    - :ranting: Seriously, if the I-94 is SUCH A BIG DEAL, you would think that the stupid POE officers would know they HAVE to include it when someone comes over on a visa. ! Just when I thought that all the pain in the butt stuff was over with (with exception of the AOS), I have more problems - :ranting:

  4. Okay, so it all started off O.K. I got to the U.S on a K1 Visa. Got through customs ok etc..

However, now I have attempted to apply for a SSN and they tell me they cant help me without an "I-94", which should have been stamped or stuck onto my passport upon entering the US. However, my passport just has a generic stamp, like you would have at an airport for example. NO I-94. I now appears that I do not have one at all, and have no way of getting one.

I looked up the US immigration office in our area, and they say, they do not take walk ins and it seems impossible to make an appointment. Also, I tried calling them, after about 30 min of automated service menus it was NO HELP AT ALL and still no live person to talk to..

Can anyone offer any advice or help at all :( I only have until Oct before the actual Visa expires...

  5. First off, I live in Washington State. One place I looked said that I would send to the Nebraska Service Center. I am filing the I-129F petition for alien fiance, so I saw something on the USCIS website that said, regardless of where you live, you'd file at the California Service Center.

Can anyone tell me where things are supposed to be sent?

    Thanks :)

My Finace lives in Washington state and I was in Canada, the USCIS was filed in California Service Center.

After the NOA2, different embassies have different procedures. Your question would be better posted in a Canada-specific forum for you to get the best advice. Please don't be snarky to people like SoInLove16 who are only trying to help you- we try to keep things positive around here.

    I wasnt being "Snarky"

I wont post on VJ Anymore.. Gee sorry to have bothered such wonderful ppl...

    NOW THATS SNARKY.

  7. I'm an August filer too, and Congrats to all those who got their NOA2.

I have a question... - I got my packet 3, and it says I should gather the info and schedule the medical exam, but should I mail the packet 3 away first so I can schedule the medical so its close to the interview date? or just go ahead and schedule it and mail away the packet now ? My NVC is Montreal, so they said it will take approx 4-6 MONTHS for an interview date.. what should I do? anyone who has been through this part who can offer guidance?

Check your respective Embassy Info here

  9. Thank you, that brings up a new question...lol

As a Canadian I do not usually require a "visitors visa" to enter and stay in the US, will that still be the case or will I actually need a "visitor's visa" this time around ?

No visitors visa needed, just be prepared to provide evidence of connection to Canada to the officer at the POE.

    Thank you.

You will be VISITING, not "Moving" yet, but yes you can visit while waiting for interview.

No. Questions about visiting during the process are THE most FAQ. Do a little reading.

Pffft, I did read it, that what prompted the question.. it does NOT say you DO NOT NEED a visitors visa if you are from a country that does not require one..

Because that would be redundant. Sort of like asking how often you should defrost your frost free freezer.

Yeah , but if its on the fritz, then you should defrost it when ever it gets too full of ice or till you can buy a new one..LOL

  11. ok.. we have had our NOA 2 approval and packet 3 (which I will mail off soon)... but we are thinking that after I have the medical, I could move down there, then fly back to Canada for the Interview... Is this possible or a very bad idea?

We want to be together NOW!!!!! and don't want to have to wait till the interview.

    Any advice ?

p.s - please click on my baby dragons so they dont die :P

  12. I got my packet 3 and I thought I had pretty much everything gathered but they are asking for the Long form of the birth certificate. I was just wondering if anyone else out there managed to get the longer version and how long it takes. Right now Montreal says the interview turn around is 4-6 months.. but how long to get the certificate? and what if my police certificates expire before then ? I got them yesterday, but what if it takes more than 6 months for the interview ? How long are they good for ? 6 mnths or 1 yr ?

    - Also, seeing as I dont have my long version of birth cert, should I still mail the packet 3 away now anyways ?

Get ahold of Vital Statistics in your province, i did mine on line and got it within 5 days.

I got mine from service ontario - the registrar general

it took a while, about 5 weeks to actually get it, and it was overpriced, $45 for one copy.

id suggest you look into getting it asap

but on the plus side service ontario had better customer service then the VSC, hope the quebec records people are good too

    Thank you.

  14. I guess my main question now is can I call the embassy and sched the interview and the medical myself? Or is that in packet 3? I am sorry this is a bit confusing now.....had all this time huh?

I was confused to, but I got my packet 3 today, so I can kinda answer your question.

First off if you have already been approved, just wait for the packet 3 to come to you, but you can still be gathering all the required information so that you are ready when you get the packet (see the guides for what you should be gathering) You can not call and schedule and interview at this point or a medical, you will need to wait for the packet 3, then they will give you a list of approved doctors and what to bring, then when you have your completed packet 3 you can mail it back to the consolate, Then and only then will they schedule a meeting for you.

  15. Ok I just got my packet 3 today , and I am confused... It says I need to fill out the online form DS-160 - which is fine, but the online form also asks me to submit a passport photo. I got four passport photos, so far, two I sent to my fiance to include in the K1 application, and I have two, NOT digital. Plus the form says I need FIVE passport photos

So.. does that mean, I need one electronic AND five "Identical photographs" ? which means, the other two I have, I cant do anything with ?

    - should I scan one of the two I have and use them for the online application ? or wait till I get the other FIVE and scan one of those ?

  16. I know this is a tad off topic, but... I see that you got approved and at your interview too... did you also have alot of out of game "proof". Thats one thing we dont really have alot of. Im just hoping its not going to be a problem sad.gif

Bo and I actually took a long-term break from the game for most of last year. My ex started shite with some people, and I had no use for the drama. A lot of the old guildies are gone now, but we play with a bunch of ppl that Bo works with here in NC. lol they think it's cool when I go into the store now and they can put a face with the toon!

    Trailmix - Horde or Ally?

    Alliance of course! :hehe:

    ......I call Boourns...

    For the Horde :P

LOL I second That !

    Woot!

Yessum, Flew down last Tuesday and am settling in quite nicely :) 20 celcius here in Raleigh today!!

To answer your question Amazon, I had taken proof with me - newer boarding passes, pics, phone bills etc, but honestly, the lad didn't ask for anything from me. He asked quite a few questions, but just simple ones, and he had my pics I had sent with my original petition and asked me when and where they were taken, but did not ask for any NEW evidence. Take what you have, of course, but don't fret over it too badly :)

    Hope that helps :D

    Yes Thank you :)

I'm still waiting for the packet 3  , if it doesnt come soon, I guess I will have to contact them to find out whats going on.

  17. My SO , who i am in the process of filing K1 for,was recently arrested for getting in a fight. He got into an altercation with a drunk on the street who shoved him, and attempted to cut him in line at an ATM. The two got in a shoving match, and my SO popped him in the face.( Believe me, i have already ripped him a new one) that he could have simply walked away, let it go whatever but he didnt initially. Well suffice to say the guy got into the ATM booth and then held the door and said you cant use it at all to my SO, so my SO then decided to walk to another one, as he was walking away the guy came at him from behind i guess to continue the fight and my SO turned around, as they were fighting my SO pulled out his can opener on his key ring and poked/stabbed the guy 3 times, drawing blood. Well anyway the amusing thing about this situation( as if there was one...NOT) is that these two geniuses ( my SO and his attacker) were across the street from the police station, so suffice to say police came out arrested both of them, saw only one was bleeding, got the story from the drunk that my SO stabbed him, they sent him( drunk guy) to the hospital and my SO to a warm and cozy jail cell for the night, fortunately said SO's brothers were able to bail him out. He now has a court date on March 5 to deal with the case. My question is, if he is charged he was told he could face 3months in jail, how would this affect us getting approved for a visa, if it shows up on his police certificate????? Just another set back in the journey of visa, which has become my life. All input is appreciated!!!

Well, Honestly I have no idea , but if your SO is the petitioner, then I dont think it will matter at all. If he is the benificiary, then I think there could be a problem.. but dont take my word on it.. lol wait for someone who knows what they are talking about to reply to your post

  19. When I went to my interview in Montreal, the lad that interviewed me asked how we met, and I told him an online game. He asked which one, and when I told him he said "you know, I think I'm going to start a running tally - you must be the 20 person this year to have met in that game....Maybe I should get on there to meet a lovely lady!"
