  1. I had a talk with some filipinas and I found out that most of the girls that you see in the bars working as bargirls are usually Visayan. I also now see what they mean. In fact while I was stationed and visit the Phiippines I noticed the U.S. bases are near more people who have Ilocano culture, and that you have to travel very far to Visayas. So most of the girls who leave the province and work as bar girls are usually from Visayas regions. Because Ilocano live so close and interact more with military and foreigners they are more likely to know the good and bad of western culture and how it affects pilipino culture.

It seems also true that most of the Visayan girls try to act like they have more class and culture than their Ilocano counterparts.

But what I see happening is that the Ilocana seems to know more about foreigners (especially military) and the Visayan do not see what they are getting themselves into dealing with American military and all the foreign men who visit the Philippines just to meet poor Asian women. So its probably that the Ilocana has seen the bad experiences that western culture brings to pilipino culture. And they know how some military and foreigners can be. So they are more likely to stay away and try to hold on to their pilipino cultural heritage. But this education is not as good or as strong for the Visayan women. They are more likely to think that meeting an American or a foreigner is a dream lifestyle. Education is needed here.

Which is probably why more Visayan are working in clubs in higher numbers.

    You crossed the line!!!!

How sure are you of the things you are saying? How many Filipinas have you talked to, by the way? bar girls in the Philippines are from all over.

yes your right angel its all over and i think the OP must be responsible of what he posted here you should consider some of the things that should not be posted.. i knew you want to speak out but you should watch your word generalizing visayan woman think about it sir and be responsible on your act............ peace its holy week... and by the way im from MINDANAO the land of promise

come to think of it, did you mean VISAYAN as the language they use to communicate? or are u referring to an archipelago of visayas... i was born in cebu which makes me a visayan. raised in mindanao and still that makes me a visayan coz i speak a visayan language... ilocano/a (if you're referring to those who live in ilocos?) is only a very small margin when you talk about "visayan" (whatever you mean by that statement), knowing FYI are consisting of visayas and mindanao region. please you cant just start giving statistics where your margin can be compared as day and night... and here u are talking about education is being need in the country... let's start to educate ourselves shall we? and yes i need more education too... thats why im on the computer/internet most of the time (online study lol)...

Well the bigger question is, is it true that the majority of girls working in a club are from the visayas region, di ba? There are several regions in the PH, and I am talking about the visayas region, including Mindinao.

Maybe someone from visayan region hurt you or busted you that why you hate visayan ladies.lol..Sorry but mostly visayan ladies are so picky to choose husband they prefer to marry handsome guys not black guys..

I am guessing you are Visayan and also worked as a bargirl, di ba?

Ano ba naman yan Mykuls! I was trying to help you out na nga for them to understand you why you start this thread...nakikipag-away ka pa!

Its true...there could be working girls from visayas region but one thing is for sure..we are very picky in selecting partner in life " not good looking rude black"

  6. Folks! Let's make a little community here exclusive only for Filipinos in Alabama. I'll get it started okay?

And please please try to be conservative this time (as how it reflects the state AL)..lets be more laid back and most especially SENSIBLE...

You can post greetings, issues, discussions, concerns, events, what's up and about in ALABAMA.

Let's try to create a thread that does not contain cuss words or provocative statements...(Well, im sure there will be people who would always try to mess up things like this).

Alright, so..let's keep this up and going!

  8. Hello all,

My fiancee lives in Bislig in the Philippines, she needs to apply for her passport. I thought I read that they have to apply for the passport in person at the DFA (The Department of Foreign Affairs). does anyone know if that is where she needs to apply? If so, where is the nearest DFA to Bislig?

    Thanks so much

    Steve

Hi...Good to know that your fiancee is from bislig, i am from bislig too....she can process her passport in DFA Davao...that's the nearest. I will be in USA by May, luckily i already got my visa a month ago presently living in Tokyo.

  9. Hi Vj family,

I had questions and obviously i need clarification about this CFO seminar. I am a filipino national living with my american husband in japan and i got my US visa in Tokyo Japan. I had my CFO seminar in the philippines 2 years ago when i ammended my passport using my husband's last name. We planned to go to USA on May from japan. My CFo certificate already expired since it is only valid a year after the counselling. My questions are:

    1. Do i still need to go back home in the philippines to renew my CFO and get a sticker or it's not necessary anymore since my departure country is from Japan?

    2. Is it needed or requirement at the US immigration? or only leaving the philippines?

You dont need the certificate to leave from Japan, its not a US immigration requirement only a Philippine requirement.

I believe it is the stamp on your certificate that has expired. Neither the yellow or green certificates have an expiration date on them.

thank you so much....that helps a lot.... ^_^^_^^_^^_^

  13. Congrats!

By the way, will the interviewee know right away after the interview whether the visa will be issued or he/she has to wait for couple of days and find out?

hi..yap, u will know immediately after the interview if u r approve or not, but they have to mail the visa because the consul said that they are going to check or facial recognition first.

  14. Hi, my fiancee is 17, she will turn 18 this may, 2009 (Im 22 by the way).

I visited her in the Philippines for 3 weeks earlier this year.

My question is, Can I start the K1 process now, even though shes not 18 yet? I mean by the time they process the petition shell be 18, right??

Or will it cause problems? Should I just wait?

By the way, I have her parents consent, so the parent's letter of consent is no problem.

Iwould say you should wait to avoid complications....she is still minor...

  15. Well i've been looking at hotels most of today and almost 3am here. I found one called baywatch tower but their home page looked crappy and I figure if they can't pay for a nice page then they probably aren't too great. I also checked out Bayview Park Hotel and it looks really nice for the price but I read somewhere that the people working there can be thugs so im worried about security now. I just came across this place called Tropicana Apartment Hotel that pretty much seems perfect so far. I am staying for 2 maybe 3 weeks and so i'm trying to find something with decent prices that is safe. I'm also looking for a place that has a pool and possibly a small kitchen. I would like a jacuzzi in the room but that might be a little too expensive. So any of you have tips for me on where to stay? Maybe you stayed at some of the places I mentioned?

just try LOTUS GARDEN in MALATE (city garden chain) maybe 2 dollars taxi ride to st. lukes and 2 dollars taxi ride to us embassy

  16. Hi VJ family,

My spousal visa just got approved...thanks God!!!and i wanna share the secrets of smooth sailing journey. My husband and i started the application of I-130 last oct. 20, 2008 in US embassy tokyo and was approved immediately, i mean on the same day. Though, i received the packet 2 weeks after. I had completed my police clearances and medical check afterwards but we delayed the final interview because my hubby's contract will end on May 2009 and the visa is only good for 6 months. IN tokyo you had option to select the date of your final interview and of course the availability also.

This morning feb. 9, 2008 at 8:30 was my appointment and was very nervous. We arrived at 7:40, but the embassy was open at 8:30, the staff collected all the documents, i payed the payments and fingerprinting and at last final interview. The final interview lasted for 5 minutes only. But before the final interview started i saw my documents stamped with APPROVED ALREADY, so during the interview i was very confident. here are some easy questions:

    1. Summarize your relationship in brief?

    2. When did you get married?

    3. When will you go to the USA?

I was out at 9:25...that means i completed the processing for only 55 minutes...

I would like to advice everybody who are still processing to HANG ON and preparations is very important. Prepare yourself, complete all the dcuments especially the Affidavit of support.

Getting nervous is normal but remember to stay FOCUS!!! I wish you luck guys with your journey...thank you to all your help...

  17. Don't mention the incident. It can only create problems and provide an excuse to deny. You were not convicted by any authorities and I have never heard of them checking with prior employers.

You have a moral debt to yourself and you can clear that by being a good person and doing something good for others in need. But don't mix your feelings with the realities of legal forms and legal processes. You are not breaking the law by not disclosing a minor incident you had years ago at a job that did not result in prosecution or conviction in a court of law.

I thank you for your sincere advice. I agree its a good stuff...thank you so much for listening....

I would agree with Garu on this.

However, during my interview at the embassy, the CO was very very interested with my previous jobs and travels than my previous entry to the US (which was also job-related). So you might be asked on this (who knows :) ) and you might have to explain it, but they wont be asking what less than pure past you have done at the job. On that matter, they have all your police clearance, so no worries! All the best

  18. [/size]First of all i just wanna say hello to anyone there! i just really need your opinion right now,

i am not lucky like the usually people who got there chance to have a visa...

My Problem is i have my previous marriage before and now i am waiting for my decisions to come this month... But the woman in consul whose interviewing me today she's was denying my papers... she never give me a consideration to wait my decision this month...

So i just wanna know what is the best way that i can do once i received my decision..b'coz the embassy didnt give me an instruction to what i do then

if ever i have my decision from the court... if am i going to apply for new application for petition? or am i going to send the copy of my decision to the USCIS or Appealing for my case.... they we're just told me once my previous marriage not terminated they will never give me a visa thats it...and returned my passport, so no clue about any instruction..

My boyfriend and i we both deppresed about this things happen to us..please kindly give us some advise ..ill wait for your kindly feedback and reply

    Godbless all!!

    thank you..

    MadzandCarl

I agree with everybody else....there is no way you will be granted a visa without terminating your previous marriage. Pls. don't appeal..just start all over again.

  19. Work record in a Southesat Asian country? No, I doubt it. What they'd be interested in would be previous visits to the US, legal or illegal; visa denials, US-related cases, etc. Don't worry about it. You're on spouse visa right?

If there's no sign of it on your passport, it won't be a problem.

Personally, my concern is I'm a freelance writer, had no formal education and also have a disability. I wonder if this would casuse them to think I'd be liable to become a "public charge."

thanks...that was a releived.....for as long as your sponsor is capable of supporting you...i think you'll be okay...
