Thank you very much, I am sure you will do fine at your interview... If you are for real and prepared then really you have nothing to worry about. Well except Jet Lag, Pon has been tired since her arrival in California... Doing much better today....

    Good luck to you.

  3. What I did not understand from people's descriptions was the length of time they review the evidence? Do they take the evidence from you before they call you or only look at evidence as u r standing there? How long has people experienced them looking at the evidence? Just curious...

    Thanks....

    Gene,

Pon told me that they never looked at the evidence while she stood in the window, so they must have looked at it prior to being called to the window. Her interview was on June 30... So this is pretty fresh information.

    Mike

  4. Thanti arrived yesterday, right on schedule, no hassles. It took her an extra 30 minutes to clear immigration because the guy in front of her in line was missing paperwork, so she was waiting for him. When her turn case, she got through in 5 minutes. Just a routine fingerprinting, photo, "welcome to America", and stapled the I-94 to her passport. No secondary processing. We've had a great first 24 hours at home and are off now to celebrate the fireworks, though it's a bit overcast and rainy in Chicago today.

I haven't yet updated my embassy review or POE review sections, it's all just happened so fast. I'll try to do those tomorrow.

Good luck all! Welcome to the newcomers to this thread... always welcome :)

:dance: Wow, we made it POE SFO today 4 July 2009... it went well no problems checked paperwork in the envelope and then fingerprints and photo, welcome to the USA BABY and Happy Birthday USA..... I also will do a review, have just been to busy.... Now we start again AOS here we go...... No problem because we are together at last...:dance::dance::dance:

  5. :innocent::thumbs::dance::dance:Hello All and sorry for the delay in reporting. I have been so busy and ...... Sorry again she got it, white slip Visa issued July 2, 2009 at 3PM... No problems, standard questions:

    Where did you meet?

    How did you meet?

    What was your work?

How many times did Mike come to Thailand?

Pon said the lady was very nice and smiled. Not overly friendly just nice and respectful....

We fly on July 4, to SFO EVA air

Congratulations to Scandal and Afischer, and all the others....

Thank you Mark for not forgetting me, and all of your constant support and assurance...

WOW it does feel good to be through this step of the process.....

    THANK YOU ALL AGAIN :dance::dance::dance::dance::star::dance::innocent:

  6. Good luck to you Mike & your fiancee, have a safe trip. It looks like you lucked out by getting an interview after April. As you have been reading, as long as you have everything in order, the interview should not be a problem anymore. I was freaked out before Kat's interview, but i think I was worried over nothing.

    That's an understatement!!! :lol::whistle:

    B) Trying to stay cool and keep telling the little lady no problem..... but inside BIG PROBLEM :blink:

  7. Good luck to you Mike & your fiancee, have a safe trip. It looks like you lucked out by getting an interview after April. As you have been reading, as long as you have everything in order, the interview should not be a problem anymore. I was freaked out before Kat's interview, but i think I was worried over nothing.

Thank you for the advice, there is really nothing to be done now only the wait.....

  8.:dance:Congratulations to all those who passed their interview in the last week... I have been to busy getting the house ready for Pon's arrival to check in here very much. I leave on the 23rd EVA air out of SFO for BKK... Then we get to play the waiting game for the interview on the 30th at 7am.... At least we will be together, that is the good part, and also it will be nice to get away from work and all the house choirs.

I cannot believe all of the stuff I had to do to get everything ready. But it is all good now, work done, packed and waiting for my flight. I really enjoy reading all of the stories written here they are a comfort and sometimes a good laugh, thank you all. Also thank you all for the support, and information. Good luck with your interview, good luck to those stuck at NVC (I really hated that) and good luck to those with Visa in hand..

    Thank for everything

    Mike

  9. She told me that she'd call me once she got it, but she also said "I don't want to wake you up." I responded "I'll be up anyway waiting!" Well still no call but I'm sure we'll be speaking soon. I got an email from her and she wrote this

Everything went well with the interview. The lady who interviewed me was kind. She asked me only 4 questions!. Can you believe that?

Here are the questions she asked me :

    1. How did you meet?

    2. When did he return to the United States?

    3. SInce he's been back to the US, how many times has he come to visit you?

    4. I saw the F1 visa on your passport, but it was for only 3 weeks, why was it so short?

Congratulations Kat and Ray! She's to go back the same day for pickup and shall be leaving Thailand soon after as well.

:dance::thumbs:Congratulations, more good news for VJ followers... All of this good news is very encouraging, the 30th is fast approaching and the good news is welcome.:dance::dance:

  10. I last met my fiace was in August 2008. Just bring many pictures and many relationship evidences to the interview.

Was that when you first got together? or When you last saw her.

We were together, 7 months, when we had our interview.

Wow, ok, that makes me feel better, we met last Nov. in person (two trips to TH total) , so we have 8 months now but we waiting for an interview date, so it will be longer by then...

Plenty of chat logs, some text messages, some phone calls ( most of them are on a phone card, doesn't show real numbers) and of course, pictures from the two trips there.

    Thanks for the info

I use Cthai it is an online phone card and they sent me a printout of every call I ever made on there system. Over a years worth of calls 45 pages, it was really cool and saved me a lot of time and headache....

  11. We got my visa without any problems. Now I'll post my interview experience and observations for others here as well.

Our interview hour was scheduled for 7:30am. We arrived about 30 minutes earlier than that. They wouldn't let my husband in but after explaining he had another purpose at the Embassy, they let us both in. Security will ask if you have a mobile phone and if so, you'll have to check that in . After that, it was straight to the Consulate area. There are signs telling you where immigrant and non-immigrant visa apps go. The interview area itself is a room with half a dozen booths in it. The windows are numbered, so you just go to your window number. During the pre-screening, they took my medical report and verified if I'd sent everything to the NVC (we did). There weren't many of us when I came in.

I waited about 45 minutes more. Several times they told my husband (who was in another area) to leave. That upset him because he wasn't even sitting beside me. He went outside of the sitting area and it looked like he was going outside. I was okay. I was more bored and tired than nervous. About 10 minutes later, I was the first to be called to the interview window. I wasn't asked a lot of questions. They didn't even ask me for proofs of relationship. I got fingerprinted and I signed the DS-230 II and then she told me when to pick up my visa. I went out and my husband was waiting outside. Turned out he'd demanded to speak with a supervisor and told them they'd better try to nuke the place to get him to leave. I guess they just wanted to get rid of him. :) We were done by 8:30am.

Next day, I got a call from a Thai gentleman from the Embassy and was told my visa was ready. We arrived on time. The security wouldn't let me in since the date on my pickup card was different and my name wasn't on their list that day. But I told them someone from the Embassy had called me and if my visa wasn't ready, then someone had to explain that to me. In the Consular Services area, I just handed in my card to someone in the booth. About 30 minutes later, the Thai man who'd called me was handing out the passports and paperwork. He explained he'd wanted me to come earlier in case I wanted my married name on the visa, instead of maiden name. But he assured me it won't be a problem and if I wanted my married surname added, I can contact the immigration officer in my district when in the US. He also gave us the sealed envelope and instructions for my SSN and removal of conditional status. He was very nice and courteous.

I got to chat with a couple of girls there too on our second visit. They were interviewed for about 10 minutes each. The questions weren't difficult, like "What does your husband do for a living?" or "Where did you get married?" So even if you get a longer interview, don't worry because it's not going to be tricky.

As for the guy who's supposed to be scary and unpredictable. I saw only one man and one woman in the immigrant visa windows. I didn't think either was particularly sly or offensive. These folks just want to get the job done and they aren't looking for a long story from you. In fact, it all feels very "routine." Just answer simply, and don't be nervous. It'll be OK!

My advice? Just get your SO with you if possible. Be firm when dealing with the Embassy personnel. Don't disrespect anyone, but don't let them disrespect you either. Even if you can't get to stay together for the interview (which is really simple), you can still make an impact on these people by acting like a "real" couple.

    GOOD LUCK!

:thumbs:Wow, Good News.... Thank you so much for sharing this, it is so good to hear that things are not so bad now.... I was very worried about the interview process, but really feel much better about everything. Again, thank you very much for sharing this with us.:dance::wow::D

  13. My wifes interview was in the morning. No fat bald white guy present. only the nice-english-lady, as my wife puts it.

oh and i would have reported how many got a visa but my wife was the second person called and the first to get a visa so she left before they had a chance to change their mind.

Good Idea, get out while you can..... I like that, and think that is the advice I will give... Do not hang around and make friends with all the nice American's

  14. Oh and in a follow-up conversation she said there was no Fat Man. Just a small girl and small guy at the embassy and they were all nice. Maybe someone was "reassigned". Siberia would be a good place I think.

Just caught this now. I'll be very interested to see if future interviewees also report the absence of the bald guy. I suspect he was the sole source of most of the hell that went down during the interviews since January.

My fear is that they have fatso doing morning shift, and nice-lady doing afternoon shifts. So far the two reports we've had about nice-lady came from afternoon appointments. Since we have a morning appointment, I am anxiously waiting to learn what's going on with those.

Oh ####### Ron, why did you have to say that I was just feeling all happy again.... You and I are both AM me at 7 you at 8... But you are correct, we have had no AM reports.

  15. Oh and in a follow-up conversation she said there was no Fat Man. Just a small girl and small guy at the embassy and they were all nice. Maybe someone was "reassigned". Siberia would be a good place I think.

I would be happy to see him gone because there is no reason for someones first contact with the USA to be some rude A$$ who thinks they are God... I really see no reason to be mean or cruel to any of these girls no matter what the Govt official may think. All of this can be handled professionally, and guess what you still get the same outcome... Visa yes or Visa No, but people go away from the interview with a lot better feeling about the good ole USA ;)

  16. Oh about the piece of paper. It seems we have to come back on June 9th to

    PICK UP THE VISA

She was the 1 who WAS APPROVED!

Woo Ho USA population increase by 1 little Thai girl. :)

This is going to make my hangover feel much better in the morning.:wacko::dance::yes::lol::D:):P

    B)

:dance::DWow Great news Danny, Welcome to America Chada.... Thank you so much for all the support and info you have given believe me it has been appreciated....:dance:

  17. hello all.

just thought i'd introduce myself into this forum. Need to do the same in the April filer's forum if i can find it. My official NOA1 date is April 22.

I'm Alan from Oregon, and the lovely lady is Onkamon from Hua Hin.

Alan, welcome to the form.... This is a good place to find all kinds of support and information about the K1 process. But I found the support to be the best, this hasn't been easy but being able to vent and chat with others in the same hell as you will be comforting....

  18. Not related to Thailand, but somewhat related to this conversation.

I flew to Canada once on one-way ticket. I was detained, thrown in immigration jail for the night, and deported the next day. Since American allowed me to buy a one way ticket to Canada, the Canadian authorities forced American Airlines to fly me back to the U.S. for free.

The one way ticket was not the reason I was detained.

It sounds like you have a very interesting life indeed, based on this and a few other posts I remember.

I called NWA (the airline I bought a one-way with) and they read back to me the Thai immigration rules about no one-ways w/out a visa issued before the flight. I told them I already knew this and my question was "Will NWA prevent me from getting on the flight without proof of a return ticket?". I asked twice and they told me "no" both times. They issued me a confirmation number as well, so I am hoping 1) this operator was correct about their policy, and 2) the fact that they confirmed I am on the flight and sold me a ticket is enough to be reassured for another reason that they won't prevent me from boarding.

I was going to Thailand for 30 days last October and only had a one way in which EVA Air told me was fine. I was flying SFO to BKK and I am a Diamond card holder which means I never can get bumped and get any flight I want... So I was not worried about the return ticket, well to make a long story short, they would not let me board at midnight in SFO I had to buy a ticket at the counter or I was not flying. It seemed to me it was the airline enforcing Thai law. So I said yes to the ticket it was open ended and all was well. But I was also told on the phone no problem but the problem came at the counter during check in. Just thought I would throw in my .02 cents....
