  3.:dance::star::dance: we got it we got it we got it :D

i am sooooo happy they gave me a little us flag pin to pin on my jacket :)))

i will give details later, but all in all veeeery easy interview. the pre interview check of the docs was a little scary - she asked for pics BEFORE the wedding, and i didn't brign any even though my husband and i have travelled half the world together for the past 5 years, but didn't think it was necessary. also she asked for certificate of marital status issued by the municipality which i didn't have.

but the consular herself didn't even look at the pictures i brought or the documents, we just talked for 10 mins and i lifted my left hand to swear with President Obama's portrait next to me. yeeeey i am sooo happy.

going to pick up visa later today and flying off to the love of my life on friday night yeeey.

    good luck everyone else.

congrats champi!!!! we opened up the season with breezy approvals, may it continue!

    congrats kotana....... :dance: :dance: :dance::thumbs:

    best wishes for your future.

  4. Hello everyone,

Let me start this month by sharing the good news, my husband's visa is APPROVED!!!!! I just got a call 10mins ago. I am so happy :D:dance:  I don't think I was even this nervous on my wedding day or for that matter, any day.... I'll post the details later. But here is a summary

In terms of documents, they asked for my 2007 tax returns (since I did not file tax return for 2008, only extension), wedding invitation (ours were not translated), and bunch of other documents.

For interview question, only 3 or 4.

Your wife lives in North Carolina?

    How did you two meet?

Do you intend to work in same company in US? (My husband works in IT field in a company and the headquarter of the company is in California)

Again, I'll post the details as soon as I get details. Good luck to all and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE SUPPORT. I can not empahsize how much your support and responses helped me...

congrats champi...............:devil::dance:

  7. K.D. r u serious abt joining ESL....Dont do that u will feel that ur in kindergarden...My mom took these classes and I just sat with her during her first class and they literally start from Alphabets.I was like WOW what a waste of time...Probably it was beginner's course thats why.But I know ur english is way better .As far as pronunciation n accent is concerned that takes a long time.I have been here six years and i still have an accent .Yes there are some terminologies here different than british english/india/pak but u will know them in a heart beat.

    thanks atk.

i ws thinking about it sometimes . but my hubby also denied me to join it. as i m going to join Pharm.D. in next batch. he says as i will stat going to school i will learn it . i ws being over cautious thouh i have passed TOEFL and GRE. and watching english movies and TV shows from years together.

i ws confused.. now i can have clear view of pic.... :) thank you (F)

  8. Hi champi!

Don't stress, its not worth it. If you have gotten this far in the process then it should be fine. About your trip to Canada, if you husand is getting an IR-1, then when he comes into the US, they will stamp his visa. This stamp in the passport allows you to re-enter the USA for up to a year . They gave me an information sheet at the consulate and also at the POE about this. I've been told the greencard can take up to 6 months to arrive but usually comes in about 4 weeks. I haven't got mine yet and I have been here exactly 2 weeks now.

    Cheers,

Thanks Corinne, it's so nice of you to keep us encouraged..... :-) I am assuming, the stamping process is same for IR-1 or CR-1, right?

7 days to go for interview.... getting nevous .:wacko::unsure: ..

may god help us to pass interview.....

i d like to ask a question about the POE flight tickets... did you get a one way ticket or with return?? if corinne and GS can please let me know what they did as well so that we wont encounter any problems at our POE as well.... that would be soooooooooooooo appreciated :)

    Thanks His_Wifey,

Yah, it's getting closer. Sometimes, I feel every second passing by, while other times, I am too tied up to notice that hours has gone by. We're hoping for a positive outcome :-)

  12. We're down to last few days and the thrill has started to affect me a bit now. I am not overly nervous since I am not the one being interviewed. Trying to keep my husband calm though, we've practiced the interview questions couple times too.. he is more scared of my interview than CO's interview... hehe... Once he gets approved visa, I'll immediately have to go bedroom-furniture-huntings :D... I wish I could just go to sleep and when I wake up, I hear the happy news....that would be so awesome...... daydreaming... alright guyz, keep in touch...

Corrine, nice to hear from you... thanks for the SS info update, it's really helpful, specially to me, I've already planned a trip to canada and crossing border will require some hefty proof if he doesn't get his green card on time..

Good luck to all and I really hope every one of us hear magic word..

good luck, champi.. only2-3 days for you right?.... everything will be fine ..

best of luck to both of you.. hope we'll soon hear from you about approval of visa.. prayers for you

  13. Hi Guys....

I have heard that SSC is mailed automatically now,no need to apply ,dont know if it is true.....

I m really nervous too for my hubby's interview...He still didn't go for his medical,he is really tied up in work :( I am really scared of AP :(

I hope every thing goes well.

dont worry atk... yr hubby have time yet, so he can go for medical then.... everthing will go on smoothly keep faith on god..

  14. I'm from Upstate NY.
Where? I can spell "Canandaigua" five times in a row really fast, si man. And, isn't "Utica" that thing that hangs down in the back of your throat? And, finally, when you're in Liverpool, do as the Liverpudlians do, si man. :)

Serious question: What is a native of Syracuse called -- a Syrian? A Syracuser? The latter sounds like a crime or a criminal: "I've been convicted of Syracusery, si man."

Over the years, I have asked several natives of Tampa (Florida) what a native of their city is called: a Tampon? a Tampaxian? I have never gotten an answer, but I have received a bunch of dirty looks, si man.

huh......... thrs someone who faced these problems.. :star: i m seriously thinking to join nearest ESL in NJ/NY.. lol.. so atleast i can communicate with my american in laws.. i know they'll be laughing on me on some perticular pronunciations .. i m sure we'll laugh on it in later years of our life  ...

  15.

If y'all (that's Texan for "you all") think that YOU'RE having a tough time, then dig this:

Two immigrants to the U.S., just off the boat, walked the streets of New York City. They marveled at all that they beheld in their new country, and they discussed their lives to come. "I have heard that Americans eat dogs," one said. "Strange," said his friend, "but if we are to be Americans, we must do as the Americans do."

Just then, they came upon a hot-dog vendor on the corner. "Two dogs, please!" the hungry immigrants said. The vendor, only too happy to oblige, handed them two orders wrapped in aluminum foil. The immigrants raced to a park bench, sat down, and eagerly began unwrapping their "dogs."

The first immigrant looked at his order and paused in shock. After several seconds of stunned silence, he murmured to his friend, "What part did YOU get?"

lol...... thts funny... u made me laugh..:D

we are not facing real tough time yet but yea, trying to share our feelings and experiences so other of us can feel comfortable ... :ot:

its good to laugh on problem.. :ot2: in india they say" troubles are like monkey, the more you run, the more it will run behind you, but when you turn and start running towards them they will go far off"

as we have english as second language, initially we've to face problem in understanding some of accents and phrases..then comes driving...

if its one problem we can face but strange land,strange/unknown people and culture, new atmosphere and all new laws .....:wacko::wacko: .. i admit its easier to face all these when you know there are others with you having same problem and most importantly loving spouse to accompany you in all troubles... :star::innocent::blush::luv:

anyone thr having same uneasiness like me? :(:hehe:

  16. still i have 2-3 weeks before i leave my country with my USC hubby...

i think food will be major problem with me as i m too much choosy ... i dont like white sauce , pasta ... in addition to tht i m pure veggie...

hubby manages to eat whatever i cook although he dont understands and remembers the names of recipes.. :star: and uses his credit cards everywhere when he visit my country.. when in india most shops accepts cash only.. and he never tries to count money in rupees as he dont understand .. so give only 1000 Rs. or 500 Rs. bill and give hand full of change to me to count it and keep change......lol.....

i wont try such things when i will come to USA..........lol....

he had visited india twice only for 15 days or so..... and i never visited US till now... we have completely different life styles..... he is understanding and loving still i afraid ....

  17. I think they way I'm looking at it is, anything worth doing is tough and probably painful as well...I can go see them on vacation (although that is one thing I am seriously going to miss about the UK...5.5 weeks paid vacation per year!! ;)) and to be fair, I'm going to be living in Florida so I doubt I'll have a shortage of people wanting to come visit :)

It's just going to be the day-to-day pointless phone calls that I'll miss the most I think.

i think you an call them on weekends when there are low call rates.....

and florida is cool place .. :star: we are coming to florida for third honeymoon.. :luv:(F)(L) in the second week of june...
