  1. Well we got Gareth's Biometrics scheduled for Friday Feb 6th (same as you Andy and Maricar!) was surprised we have it so quick but am def happy this process seems to be going decent for us!

Do we get actual notification once AOS/EAD/ and such are all approved then (besides the NOA2 thing for them?). Will he get actual cards or something?

    Thanks!

I know we will get actual cards for EAD and AOS(permanent residency card) but I don't know about AP... for EAD, they will send the card a few weeks after approval while for AOS, NOA2 will either mean they will order card production and send it off even without interview or they will soon schedule interview date for the AOS applicant.

sometimes they don't even ask for an interview?? do you anybody who never had one?

  2. hi guys,

My husband and I did sent off my AOS PACKET last friday after dumping all the filled up applications a month ago, and finally it is on it way to touch down to USCIS office soon.. I did review all the application last friday before we did sent it off, i did found that I have to filled out a few part of the application of status by hand, is this ok?! I too didn't really educate myself about AOS stuff for I had doubts to really stay here with my husband.. well anyways, i wouldn't be surprise if I will get RFE's very soon!.. :-( but am keeping my faith and hopes up!:thumbs::innocent:

we mailed it to CHICAGO IL.. and I found out that all AOS filers has an interview? is this true guys? if this is true, am doomed(pls no)! :crying:

well best LUCK TO ALL OF US, JANUARY AOS FILERS..:whistle:

oh, before I forget, is AOS ok to put on the cashier's check purpose? for it is what we did told the bank teller to put on the purpose!!

yes you will have an interview.

    the check should be fine.

OGM! now am really doomed! with my situation I don't know If I can really handle the interview?! :crying:

    but anyway thanks lea.. (F)

why can't you handle an interview?

    what situation are you in?

  3. We finally received NOA1s for AOS and EAD for me and my 2 kids (K1 & K2).:dance::dance: we did not apply for AP even if it was free just additional documents for something we won't really need. I am just soo happy and soooooooo relieved, at least our papers was indeed received by USCIS. WHEW! Now the waiting finally begins.

Called the bank, and they were able to tell me that my $1,010 cashier's check was cashed on Jan. 20 (6 days after USCIS signed for my packet).

    Still no NOA yet.

Hate being in limbo like this.

You can always go to your back and have them pull out the encashed check in their computer, your case number should be at the back of your check and your bank should be able to show you an electronic image of it. Once you get the case number you can sign up on USCIS site and check your status.

Good luck to you and to all others. Have a blessed Sunday everyone.

is there another way to get that case number? do we get it with the NOA?

  5. then you should do what my husband and I did. I was on a J1 as well and we got married before the end of my visa. going back to his country would mean applying for a K-something visa. which would mean a much longer route. I would advise to get married before his visa expires.

I am and I have no idea what to do! lol My boyfriend is here on a J1 and we are trying to figure out the route to take...either K1 or K3 or something else

Did you file your I-485 and I-130 forms together? If so, did either of those packets pending invalidate your J1 status? As in, were you still allowed to work and reside in the country while you waited for adjustment of status? That's our biggest concern

I filed I-485, I-130, authorization of work and advance parole all together. I am not allowed to work until I get my EAD since I am out of status. But if he is still on a J1 he might be able to work still under his contract. But I am not sure.

What is advance parole? I keep hearing it on the forums but I have no idea what it is

he doesn't need to ask for advance parole if he doesn't want to travel outside of the country. it allows him to come back in the usa while his green card his pending.

  6. hooray!! they received our package!!

    Label/Receipt Number: *** **** **** *

    Status: Delivered

Your item was delivered at 2:31 PM on January 21, 2009 in CHICAGO, IL 60680 to INS 805887 . The item was signed for by V BUSTAMANTE.

Where did you find the "signed for by V BUSTAMENTE"? USPS tracking only says:

    Label/Receipt Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Status: Delivered

Your item was delivered at 2:11 PM on January 14, 2009 in CHICAGO, IL 60680.

it don't say anything about anybody signing it and we have not receive the return receipt either. :( we shipped our papers priority mail with return receipt... i sure hope we would get anything that signifies they have indeed received.

all of that was on usps website. I mailed my package with express mail. thats why I got the signature even without asking for return receipt. but you should get it via mail.

  9. I'm glad your interview went fine!

sorry I took so long to answer, I posted in the other thread but forgot about this one...It was really easy, they asked how me met, details about the house and our pets, he didn't look at any papers and went through the pics so fast I doubt he saw anything...Our interviews were separated (they do it with everyone in my local office, I don't know why....Just be calm, guys, there's no catch as long as your relationship is an actual relationship, just trivial questions everyone would know...

At the same day I got an e-mail saying my card was ordered....

  10. Hi,

I am a little worried. My husband and I met a little more than two years ago in a night club where he used to work. But he was in the coat check and it was paid under the table. Can we say that during the interview? because I am sure they will ask how we met but I don't want him to be in trouble since he never filed any taxes when he worked there. He was still a student at that time too.

    What to do?

  11. well my parents chose to give me two middle names so it doesn't help! lol

thank you guys for your answer I think I will go with

    Lea Marie Isabelle Dupont- Smith

    Lea Marie Dupont-Smith

In the US, people usually have 1 first name, 1 middle name, and the last name can be both but it's usually hyphenated.

FYI, You don't have to legally change your name, in most states. Once you get married you can use your husband's last name or a combination of your maiden name-husband's last name right away. Your marriage certificate acts like a "court order".

  12. Hello,

I have made the decision to file my papers with my husband's last name but I also want to keep mine.

it would be like a double last name. with first my maiden name then my husband's last name.

how do I file the paperwork.

for example my name was Lea Marie Isabelle Dupont (yes, 2 middle names)

and my husband's name is Benjamin Justin Smith

    do i write

Last name: Dupont Smith, First name: Lea, Middle name: Marie Isabelle

    or

Last name: Smith, First name: Lea, Middle name: Dupont

    ??

what do you guys think? how did you do it?
