  1. Should I be worried if I still haven't gotten the NOA1 for I-485 and the EAD? I received two RFE's since for I-485 and they said they will start the process of I-485 and EAD as soon as they get my initial evidence. I have the case numbers but didn't get any paper saying they received it. Is that a big deal?

I will mail the evidence that they need today.

Hi...I find it odd that they could send an RFE before sending the NOA since they would have to begin the process to even find out what to contact you about--but I am not a "government expert" on this process. Did your RFE have your case number on it? I do not have the copies of mine to check, but I would assume they have it. I know my RFEs had a bar code on it. If you find your case number and still have issues finding it online, private message me and I can try for you, too. Your case number should begin with MSC and when entering it online at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do make sure to exclude the "-" .

I can find my case online. I figured out my case number when I received the receipt for I-130 and AP. But the online service is not updated as of the status now so it's pointless. And the I-485 case number was on the RFE page so I'm not really worried. But I just never got a NOA for it and for the EAD. I know they will process them when they get my new package with evidence.

  3. so I called the service center number listed on my biometrics appointment letter, thinking I would be able to check my status via the phone since I couldn't check it online. guess what....IT COULDN'T FIND MY CASE NUMBER! how is it possible that they pulled it up on the computer at my appointment, but yet we can't track it online or via phone?

hmm that's weird!! what did they say to that over the phone? I bet they didn't know what they were talking about anyway. I hope you find a solution to your problem!

  4. We got our letters for the biometrics appointments for both: Feb 24th. (At least they put them on the same day at consecutive time slots!)

Unfortunately, we also received two RFE letters for the support documentation. Since I have my own small (and I mean small) business as well as full time employment, I had to mark the I-864 as "self employed" as well. That triggered them to request all my schedules and forms, so I printed out two complete sets of my taxes, signed them (did not want to forget that little detail!), copied all my 1099's and my W2 and mailed them in today. Curiously, they are sent to a location in Missouri while the original documents were all sent to Chicago.

On another note, we went to the SS office today to try to get her social security card reissued in her married name. However, since her visa/I-94 expired on January 12th, they said they could not change the card until AOS. I had our NOA's, but they still said NO. I know this will delay any possible state ID card or driver's license, as well, since we must present a valid I-94. It is not a huge issue, but it is frustrating and make things very inconvenient for the enxt several months. Things could be worse, though...she could still be in Ukraine and I could still be alone!

anybody knows if I need to mail a cover letter with the evidence for RFE? or is that yellow paper enough?

I just attached the yellow pages to my 2 stacks of papers, so I hope that was enough! it indicated what they were looking for, so it should be ok.

    Thanks for your answer.

One thing is scaring me though. I don't think my husband ever signed his copy of taxes. I don't think it was a problem though. But if it was would they say it clearly?

I have the same problem for SSN. I wanted to change my name to my married name but I know I can't do it until we get some papers. I think EAD is enough as a proof though. So 3 months before getting a driver's license as well...

  5. So we just got home from my biometrics appointment. Drove an hour to our "local office" waited less than 5 minutes then they called me up and he filled in a form, took my fingerprints, took my photo and then it was done. After a total of 10 minutes (including going through security) we got back in our car and drove the hour home. I was really excited cause I thought I would be able to finally add my cases online but still nothing.

    glad it went smoothly!!

  6. I just got my 3 NOAs!!! woohoo!! :D

congrats!! u were a bit worried before about it eh :) now ur happy! good thing!

are we going to receive 3 biometric appoinments with different dates? one for aos, ap and ead?

no only one for all of those

Does anyone have their case status online yet?

I have my 4 forms (I-130 I485 AP and EAD) online but they just say that they have been received and are pending now.

  7. Today I got two things in the mail. First I got my biom. appointment notice for Feb. 27th and I updated it in the list below.

Second, I got two RFE and I'm not sure what they are asking. They should be more specific. It's related to the 854 or 864A but they don't say which one.

Here, I'll copy what they wrote.

"For the household's member income to be included in the household income, the household's member income must have been from a lawful source and earned while the household member was authorized to work in the USA.

In order to process your application further, submit evidence that the household member on form I-864, Affidavit of Support, or Form I-864A Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member, was authorized to work in the USA. Examples include one of the following:

    blablabla... "

so my sponsor for 864 is my husband, U citizen, and the sponsor for 864A is my husband's brother who lives with us, US citizen as well. I submitted my husband's copy of birth certificate. are they asking for my brother in law's birth certificate? which we didnt include because i may have misread, or didnt see that they needed it... or are they asking for my husband's real copy of birth certificate because i only submitted a photocopy of it? i'm kinda lost here.

then they are asking for something else related to my brother in law's affidavit of support. i submitted the copy of his past year tax record. but now they are asking for a letter from his employer. i dont remember reading anything like that in the instruction.

    can somebody help please??

  8. apparently you found out how to add it to your signature ;)

thanks for answering my question Juliandavid. i got it now ;) haha

Hey, I'd like to join you guys.

I filed i130/485/131/765 on Jan 20 2009, got the receipts on Jan 31st, saying they received them on Jan 28th.

I have question. How do I put my timeline at the bottom of my post? Do i need to manually edit my signature or it can ported from my timeline.

  9. that's totally fine

    thank you

Surely you can edit the list just hit reply and edit my posting... btw, I added your NOA1, I used the issue date instead of the date you received it.. but if you would rather list the receipt date as the NOA1, feel free to edit our list.

Good luck and may your biometrics appt letter follow soon.

  10. You can always go to your back and have them pull out the encashed check in their computer, your case number should be at the back of your check and your bank should be able to show you an electronic image of it. Once you get the case number you can sign up on USCIS site and check your status.

what does the case number look like on the back of the check? I can see several numbers on the back of my check. should I try them all? lol

and where on USCIS website can we check the status of our case?
