  1. Radicalism: 94

    Socialism: 37.5

    Tenderness: 53.125

These scores indicate that you are a progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a university professor. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a pragmatic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a political centrist.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, an idealist with many strong opinions.

This concludes our analysis; we hope you found your results accurate, useful, and interesting.

  2. A lot of this has to do with the job market, in some locations it is simply impossible to find work quickly as there are so many people out of work. It is not unheard of for hundreds of people applying to the same position. Add in lack of 'experience' or easily verifiable references and your resume gets 'round filed'. That being said, there are opportunities, but he may have to settle for a lesser position at first.

My spouse with a degree in Computer Science ended up working at a local retailer with the understanding that it's temporary and allows her to work on her English skills, gain verifiable work experience and references in the US and get a feel for how things are here.

Is she happy? Well yes and no, she would rather work in a position that allows her to reach her full potential, the current job is boring and underwhelming; but it's giving her the confidence to look for other work without the fear of her English being not good enough or not understanding how things are done.

So it's a start and it allows her to feel as if she's contributing to the family and that's what she wants to do most of all, regardless of the position.

Good luck and don't give up.

  3. 1. Too many Black and Latino households are single parent with women, it benefits them to have equal pay. That is benefit to them and to all women.--And Many more are unemployed and for a longer time than with any President in history. So they support him why ? Also why has the family unit broken down so badly in the past 40 years in these demographics.

Did you want Obama to create work for only Blacks and Latinos, instead of creating programs for everyone? Was Obama supposed to fix by your own estimate, a problem that's gotten worst in 40 years, in 4 years? Heck Asians also supported Obama in vast numbers, why are you not concerned about what he did for them? "Exit polls showed a little over 73 percent of Asian Americans overwhelmingly favored President Obama in this election compared to 61 percent in the 2008 election. Asian Americans were the President’s second-most supportive group, behind African Americans, according to reports."Asian support Again, the Republican party is alienating entire voting blocs of people.

    2. 2. A big reason why unemployment is so bad in Black and Latino communities is because too many of them only have high school diplomas or less and we know that you have/had a better chance in finding work and keeping your job in this economy, with a higher level of education. So if you're Black or Latino, Obama's plans for education will benefit you and everyone else. Why do you think so many drop out of school and do not get the free education provided--SEE number 1. Also what is Obama's education plan ???

Don't know, what does that have to do with Obama, was he supposed to fix this problem in four years? Obama's Education plan

    3. 3. Historically, the jobs that offered Blacks and Latinos the most opportunities have been in the public sector or UNIONS. Postal workers, Sanitation, Transit, teachers, social workers, Law Enforcement and many dirty jobs that most people don't want. So if you're a Black and Latino, Obama's support for Unions, benefits you and other union members. --So Obama supports Unions which are 71% white 9% black and about 12% Hispanic. Sorry that does not add up.

Where did you get this number? Your conclusion is also in error. Here's the data from the Labor Dept.the big takeaway: "Black workers were more likely to be union members than were white, Asian, or Hispanic workers." and " In 2011, among major race and ethnicity groups, black workers were more likely to be union members (13.5 percent) than workers who were white (11.6 percent), Asian (10.1 percent), or Hispanic (9.7 percent). Black men had the highest union membership rate (14.6 percent), while Asian men had the lowest rate (9.1 percent).

Again if the Republicans are anti-union and the Democrats are pro-union and we have a two-party system, and historically the Unions have been a place to allow you upward mobility, which party are you going to vote for in vast numbers?

The people who voted for Obama felt the overall his policies benefited them, even if they benefited other people too. You have the answer, but won't accept it. That's your choice, but I submit this is what is killing the Republican party. Instead of understanding that there's no magic bullet, they keep trying to find one.

  4. Well I am glad you know what I think.

I will ask again. Tell me specifically what Obama as done for Blacks and Hispanics. Give me specific details. You keep saying you and the Obama supporters have, but I have been given only 1 answer. That answer was teh dream act. The rest of the answers did not give 1 specification . All we have gotten so far is basically "He cares about us and is inclusive". Surely you can come up with three actions ?

I will be glad to start answering your questions when you either admit you don't know it's all based on feelings or you give me specifics. You guys are experts at diverting the conversation when the truth is unavoidable. It follows a pattern, call some one racist, accuse anyone that disagrees with you as out of touch and in line with racist white men. Once again I do not blame Obama for Romney losing, that is only Romney and the Voters fault.

You've been given this answer many times or versions of it, yet you won't have it. People vote for a variety of reasons, some of it logical, some of it emotional; either way it's all valid. You keep asking for some special treat he gave to Blacks and Latinos to explain their support for him, why should there be? A rising tide lifts all boats...

If you believe in his support of education, unions, equal pay for women, then as a black and Latino that specifically helps you, it also helps other groups.

    1. Too many Black and Latino households are single parent with women, it benefits them to have equal pay. That is benefit to them and to all women.

Now if you're asking for some piece of policy that says, "this is for you Black and Latino and no one else", i don't think you're going to find it. Obama has been pretty consistent with his "I'm the President of everyone" declarations. Is the Dream Act only for Latinos or does it apply to all 'illegals'?

One more thing: What Obama really did specifically was not be a Republican, it really is that simple. Unfortunately the Republican party has alienated entire populations to the extent that they will, in vast numbers not vote for them in national elections. That's it, there's no magic bullet, no secret sauce; if you piss off enough people long enough, they will vote for the other guy; regardless of what he does specifically.

Historically it used to primarily be the black vote the Republicans couldn't get, but now it has expanded to other groups... the fundamental truth is the Republican brand is poisoned for huge groups of people and Obama doesn't have to do anything specifically, except not be a Republican (with all they stand for) in order to get those groups to support him and his party in large numbers. This state of affairs is only going to get worst for the Republicans as the demographics continue to shift.

Not to say Obama doesn't have a policy; I am saying it doesn't matter. Until the Republicans figure out a way to attract a more diverse group of people, this pattern will continue, regardless of what the next Democrat does specifically or not. The problem lies within the Republican party, not the populations they can't seem to attract.

  5. They took the photo down but lets distort the facts.star_smile.gif

You mea this photo? The one that is still linked to someone else's page?

Boy these guys are incredible! They remove a bad photo of their kid from his page, then make another page, put the bad photos on it and make everyone think they don't have all the information. Even more incredible, they manage to do it without changing the timestamp on the 'original' facebook page.

    Genius!

  6. Not to be a killjoy, but if your friend is worrying about how much money this process will cost him, before he even starts, then I would suggest this method isn't for him. There's nothing wrong with being aware of scams, excessive fees and the like; but this process isn't cheap and IMO expense shouldn't be the first thing on your mind, but how to achieve the best results should; regardless of cost.

  7. Absolutely, but that is a separate issue. The hypocrisy is that Fox believes that union contracts can be broken and should be broken because the public employees are paid with tax dollars and we are in financial straits. However when we were in even worst dire straits, the contracts with Wall Street concerning bonuses couldn't be broken; even though Wall Street, like the Public Unions received taxpayers dollars. Their contracts had to be honored...or else, we would lose the best and brightest.

Either you believe that contracts can be re-visited and altered to reflect the changes that are occurring in the economy or you don't. If you pick and choose based on your own personal agenda, then you are a hypocrite.

  8. You are aware that the money for the bonuses came from the bail-outs, yes?

You know the bail-outs that were provided by the taxpayers.

Once Wall Street accepted our tax dollars to bail them out, they lost that claim that they were investor supported. Without our tax dollars, they wouldn't exist and the investors would have lost everything.

Instead of worrying about teachers making 30, 40, 50 thousand dollars plus benefits, who reinvest their income into their communities, pay taxes and support the local economy; you should be worrying about the investment bankers that took our tax dollars, to receive their sometimes Million dollar bonuses and either banked it or invested in foreign countries.

  9. Filed at the end of November 2010, had interview today and was approved. Our interview was in Albany, NY and lasted about 30 mins. Most of the time was spent looking over paperwork for completeness. The interviewer noticed that our son's medical wasn't in the pack, not the vaccination records, those were there; but the medical documentation that they took from her at POE. Our only option if they can't locate it, will be for him to take another medical; not the end of world, but an inconvenience none-the-less. My wife's and daughter's were there, so they were good to go.

The only question he asked was to briefly tell how we met each other and when we decide to get married. We had a binder full of stuff, but all he wanted to see and keep was anything that showed we lived together and co-mingled our lives and finances. We gave him our join bank statements and health insurance plans as that was all we had with both our names on it and a bunch of photos, including the ultrasound of our new pregnancy and that was that. Approved, green card should arrive in ten days, have two years conditional.

Very professional, quick and painless; if it wasn't for the misplaced medical it would have been perfect. It may still be if they find it.

I know the question of when to file for AOS comes up often. We filed about 1 week before her medical would have expired (one year), without issues. This is not to be used as advice, just another data point to consider, when the topic of how soon or how late to file for AOS is asked.

  10. I would very much like to consider histoiry when making decisions about who is a racist. You?

Sure, but all of history, not half of it.

Slavery, racism, sexism, etc were part of the social fiber of the country. I'm not real keen on holding people who were born 80, 90, 100 years ago to our current social standards. It's dishonest and unfair.

After civil rights passed, the Southern Democratics left the party and joined the Republicans and that's where they have been ever ever since. That doesn't mean that after that, the Democrats were somehow these perfect people who didn't behave in the same way that the republicans did.

However the truth is, the Southern anti-civil rights member of the democratic party left it to join the Republicans; that is as true as the Democrats being the racist party you say it was. Both statements are true, the question is which is more important? What happened before 1964 or what happened after it, when the Dixiecrats left the democratic party?

Look at the states you list...what you rail against isn't Democrats, but Southerners.

Here's a list by region of who voted for and against the civil rights act in 1964

    By party and region

Note: "Southern", as used in this section, refers to members of Congress from the eleven states that made up the Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. "Northern" refers to members from the other 39 states, regardless of the geographic location of those states.

    The original House version:

    Southern Democrats: 7-87 (7%-93%)

    Southern Republicans: 0-10 (0%-100%)

    Northern Democrats: 145-9 (94%-6%)

    Northern Republicans: 138-24 (85%-15%)

    The Senate version:

Southern Democrats: 1-20 (5%-95%) (only Senator Ralph Yarborough of Texas voted in favor)

Southern Republicans: 0-1 (0%-100%) (this was Senator John Tower of Texas)

Northern Democrats: 45-1 (98%-2%) (only Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia opposed the measure)

Northern Republicans: 27-5 (84%-16%) (Senators Barry Goldwater of Arizona, Bourke Hickenlooper of Iowa, Edwin L. Mechem of New Mexico, Milward L. Simpson of Wyoming, and Norris H. Cotton of New Hampshire opposed the measure)

They were both as bad as each other, but the Northerners of both parties carried the day and at the end, many of the Southerns left the party and joined the republicans. Also note the percentage of votes.

Let's not ignore the full scope of history.

  11. I was sad to see this.

It's time companies started standing up for their values.

The problem we're fighting in Muslim country, lead by religious zealots. Their best tool for recuiting additional men and support is the claim that Americans are 'invading' their country with the sole purpose of converting their people to Christianity; so you don't want soldiers with weapons covered with a christian verse. It gives credence to the claims of our the enemies and therefor endangers our troops, by allowing our enemies to increase their ranks from the general populace.

Dead is dead, but being killed by a 'Christian' gun will make a martyr out of them and nobody wants that.

You have to understand the enemy you fight or you will never win. Standing up for company values ends if it risks endangering the life of our troops.

  12. Oh I forgot add: The package containing the original papers hasn't arrived in Moscow yet, it's been 30 days. I sent it USPS priority, which is sad because for the past year and half everything I sent to her arrived in around 10-11 days...except this one. It left the states and vanished.

Anyway the consul accepted my emailed versions of all documents without question. Just an FYI.

  13. As promised the update:

It turns out my girl's mother and grandmother were involved; they share an apartmen with my girl. The boy's papers (passport, etc) went missing and they were the only other persons with access. On confrontation they confessed, their reason; they didn't want her to leave, because they would lose her portion on the rent. So they fed information to the sister-in-law and gave the boys' papers to her.

My girl knew that confronting them all directly would be futile at this point and did an end-run. She spoke to her ex's mother and convinced her that it was in the best interest of her grandson, that he is removed from such dishonest people.

The mother-in-law agreed and spoke to her son. She basically told him that he was dying. A few months ago he was in the hospital because various organs are failing...too much drink and drugs. She asked him if he really wanted his son to see him die like this and that he knew his sister would get bored with her new "toy" and abandon him, once she finds a new man. She told him he promised to sign the papers and it wasn't right to only sign for one and that he was being used by all of them, they didn't care about him or his son. If he was afraid of not having a place to live later, he could move back in with her.

I don't know if he had a moment of clarity or conscience, but he got the stolen papers from his sister's apartment and signed the travel papers, so the boy could leave.

Money was never mentioned, offered or given. Now this may be because they are Uzbekistan and not native Russians, but I am loathe to stereotype a group of people. All I can say is that a family operates on its own rules and you have to be careful how you tread.

My girl passed her interview this morning, without issue. The Moscow consul did not ask to see the permission to leave papers for either child. Whether this is a mistake or not, I leave to you to decide for yourselves. I offer no advice.

She said the interviewer asked if she would rather speak in English or Russian. My girl said Russian. However whenever the interviewer asked a question in Russian, my girl would responded in English and the interviewer found this funny and laughed. So they started speaking in English. It was a woman interviewer.

She was asked for some of the photos, how often we communicate with each other and she looked at some ICQ chat logs. It took about 3 hrs in total and she was told she would receive visas for all.

I'm still waiting for more details, but if you have any questions I can ask her later.

    Good luck to you all,

    Ciao

  14. He won't be granted a visa if he's not there.

If I was a CO, I'd have to wonder why a mother who's been applied for couldn't bring both children. Do they have different fathers? Then I'd start wondering about the motivation of the mother....

Not trying to raise the drama here, but just saying, some questions can logically come out of this situation. If she's not going to be able to bring one of the kids, she needs to figure out a good story why.

What drama? I'm assuming that the CO knows how the world operates and that children are used as tools and weapons. The sister wants children, she can't have any now. The daughter is only two years old and is too much work, so she doesn't want her; so she can go. The father made promises and now at the end has broken them, because he's a junkie and that's what they do. His sister is keeping him alive, she wants to be paid; he's paying her with the only thing he has of value and the one thing she wants.

####### like this happens everyday in divorced families, children used as bargining chips and I would like to think that any person who has to deal with the messiness of people's lives on any kind of regular basis would know that and not think to the motivation of person who's stuck in Hobson's choice.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your advice, we'll see what happens.

  15. I wish it was that simple.

It's not him, it's his sister and money won't grease that wheel. I'm hoping once the trauma of the hysterectomy fades, she'll accept that she over stepping her bounds here and let the boy go...but that's a battle for another day.

As far as the interview goes, she won't have a problem getting her son to the interview. Our concern is that, won't the consul ask for the paperwork to show that he (the son) has permission to leave, before they give the visa to him? I know she won't be able to get the paperwork before then.

  16. A question: I know that there has to be parental 'sign off' before a child is allowed to leave the country. Her ex' has signed for the daughter, but not the son. He's willing to sign, but his sister who recently had a hysterectomy and has now lost any chance of having children, has decided for him that the boy needs to stay next to the family. Unfortunately the father is a living, breathing stereotype of Russian men, so he's pretty much doing what he's told for his next drink or fix...at least for now.

Anyway, I included both children on the I-129f and the interview is in around a week. Chances are her son won't be able to come over with her and will have come over later. My question is, does he still have to go to the visa interview with her, even though he's not coming over at this time? He's six.

    Thanks

  17. Down and Dirty: She was born in Uzbekistan, but lives and has lived in Moscow for some time. Has a Moscow address, even has a Russian passport. We requested Moscow, NVC decided Uzbekistan. We tried to get the embassy changed before it left NVC, but they denied it. Reason, she was born in Uzbekistan, no amount of discussion could sway them.

After speaking with the Tashkent embassy, they gave us a turn-around time of up to 2 months to transfer it to Moscow. Something to think about, if you're going to change locations.

I haven't received my letter from NVC yet either. I called a few days after I received NOA2, if you look at my timeline, you can see how fast it was between NOA2-NVC in and NVC out. So I wouldn't wait for that letter, i would start calling.
