  1. I dont think its that americans WANT someone to blame so they just pick someone. IMO

I think its the fact whoever throws themselves as a majority into the lime life will get the most ciritisism.

If it were the Italians, all the threads would be about italians, if it were the Africans, it would be about them, and so on.

Americans dont just wake up one morning and decide to pick on a certain race, IMO if you make such a pissy fit over something like legalizing yourself as an ILLEGAL, then yea people are going to react sourly.

We woke up one morning and decided to blame the chinese once upon a time.

  2. This would be very risky as the date you left the States may well be before the date the AP was approved..... you could then be deamed to have abandoned your AOS.... and be refused entry.... AP is no guarentee of entry....

This is a very good point. I do not know if there is a requirement that you be physically in the US at the time AP is issued. You could probably ask USCIS itself (shudder), though they will probably tell you that AP is not guaranteed. Ask around. There are even some officers/former officers somewhere around here that might be able to give more solid info.

  3. That's the danger of the illegal immigration debate....it has turned into a U.S. vs Mexico battle and there are a lot of innocent people that will get caught in the middle. The American public in general is very ignorant on this issue. Hell....most Americans think anyone that is brown is Mexican.

Yup and yup. Also, I feel that this is an old trick used by politicians to divert attention from other issues. Find a minority group and blame them. This particular minority already has a "head start" in that they already have fewer "rights" (I don't care what your opinions are on that), than the majority citizens, and are marginilized from the getgo. It's a hot issue that everyone can rally around (even here, libs and cons holding hands together). It's a distraction from issues like the wars, healthcare, the deficit, corruption, etc. Hey look everybody, it's not the government that's to blame, it's yer goddamn gardener. Gimme a break.

  4. If you can possibly file AOS before she leaves do it. Submit an application for AP at the same time, along with the letter explicitly explaining the emergency. Having done this you could RISK it that AP will be approved (I'd say 90% chance), and you will receive it PROBABLY in 1-3 months. There is nothing stopping your (wife) from going back home while this processes, but she won't be able to re-enter until you receive the AP and SEND IT to her. This is somewhat risky, but if it doesn't work, you could always re-apply with k-3, which was always your other option to begin with. At least this way you have a chance to save some time and money.

Note: I am not a lawyer or even a genius here. This is my opinion. See what others think about your chances. Good luck.

  5. For all of it's vulgarity and shock value, it is actually quite an intelligent program.

They often do have a really good point. Actually the best ones are when they DONT have a point per se, they just present an issue in a new way, without really forcing the conclusions on the audience, know what I mean?

They get you to ask questions.

  6. I'm not saying this to pick sides...but I am curious...why did the jogging guy have one bandanna covering his lower face & one on his head? Do none of you find that suspicious at all?

Umm, cuz he was dressed up like a ninja. Suspicious? Maybe. Especially if there had been a report just then about a wicked-awesome assassination or cool art-burgling. Otherwise... exactly no reason to detain someone for wearing a mask in public. Guns drawn? Gimme a break.

  7. Why Plymouth Rock is not a good example.

Cause there was no INS at the time.

We had way more guns than the Indians.. wanna play cowboys and Mexicans now?

Well I've heard that there are plenty of spots along "our borders" where there is no INS at ANY time. These people are simply coming to "THE NEW WORLD", actually, it's kinda the old world for many of them...

And so to your other "point" that the ends justify the means, then I say this whole argument is moot, cuz the non-native born are gonna take over this continent once again, just like they did lo those many years ago. Those with historical perspective won't be able to keep from laughing at all the bitchin' and moanin' coming from all of those descendants of "illegal immigrants".

  8. I was talking to my dad about this issue last night, and he brought up something that I hadn't thought of, but seems all too relevant, historically speaking. He was saying how he is worried for the safety of his Mexican friends (mostly US citizens). You don't have to look far even in a place like VJ to see that this issue has caused no small amount of hysteria around itself. How long before the rhetoric matures into a "all the country's problems are the fault of (mexicans)"? Before you laugh it off and say it couldn't happen here, remember that it already has, both here and other countries, all the time. I wonder what people think about this, if I can butt into the slangin for a minute.

  9. D@mnit dude! We just lost our satellite. Shizzle. I love/hate south-park. When it's funny it's hilarious, and when it's not... it's just really gross or something like that. They do regular jokes on like jesus and mormons (did you guys see the mormon episode? lol), and jews, etc, I'm kind of suprised they haven't done much with ol' muhammed already. It'll prolly be pretty funny.

  10. a hammer! j/k

My wife got me a bunch of children's books. Like the ones where you learn the alphabet and trace the letters n stuff. That was (and continues to be) a big help. Of course, being immersed in a foreign language environment helps a whole lot, if possible. You can get books that have each page written in both languages too. Start with VERY simple ones (obviously), like for kids learning to read. Pick up vocab as you go. Good luck.

  11. This has always been an inevitability. Nuclear knowledge/technology is bound to find it's way into the hands of everyone that wants it. We are silly for believing that we can contain it to only our own allies. In fact, these efforts (along with our military-strategy-based foreign policy) have only spurred on the efforts of other nations (our "enemies") to develop their own nuclear weapons. We can't stop it, and "Star Wars" is a freaking waste of time and money (at least right now), and will only create more "arms race". We need to rethink a lot of stuff. The world is too small for all this competition. We need to think more like the one race that we are. After all, what will the aliens think when they get here? lol
