  1. We filed pretty much the same time as you guys, we filed on the 18th of september and called monday and they put in a service request for us. But they didn't do it for interim EAD I don't think. What does interim EAD really mean, does it mean you get your EAD right away when you file interim EAD

She says it means they issue like a temporary card for 240 days...

but of course, it takes 45 days to process the service request...

i don't know... i'm waiting for my husband to get to my work so we can call again together, so we can do the service request. i'll let you know if i learn anything when i call back a 2nd time. :(

That would be great, let me know what happens. even for interim you have to wait another 45 days to be processed after waiting this long? wow, wait, wait, and more waiting. so frustrating

Okay, so i called... three times b/c their computers were down. My husband was there with me... she only asked to speak w/ him to know his name and hear him say, "I'm sorry, I don't speak English"

She said it normally takes about 90 days to adjucate an EAD, but after 75 days, you can do a service request... i guess that means they just open up the case and look at it?? She said to call back if i don't hear anything within 30 to 45 days. This lady did not mention an interim EAD, but i will call back again after 90 days to request one.

Well... at least we did something...

this process is just so frustrating! :dead:

Yeah, they make ya do that ####### of having the petitioner there. I hope you get somewhere with those lames, AHZ!

    Thanks, Nagi!!

i know they are working on it... i just... well... you know........ :(

I dont think you are eligible for Interim EAD. I guess one has to wait 90 days after filing to request for interim EAD. After 75 days, you can open a service request.

yeah, i think this is the case....

I'm sorry to say after 90 days things don't really seem to change much. Then they put in the request and tell you to keep waiting for another 30-45 days, they have no sympathy and no interest in doing anything more for you. I was so lucky to get a nice person who put in a service request for me for my EAD and she told me if I had some kind of response by today to call back, but then she couldn't find my AP and had to transfer me (noooo!!) and I got a useless person who put in the request and said wait 30-45 days. I asked how come there was such a difference in the wait time and she got really snappy with me ~and of course couldn't give me a straight answer (I thought that was a fair enough question).

I thought that being over the regulatory time frame would actually make them care more or do something, I kept thinking if I just get to 90 days then someone will help me for sure. Well I'm sorry, but I don't call being told to wait around for another 1-2 months helpful, am I wrong???

    :protest:

    My wish list:

1.) Be able to tell my friends and family I can come home

2.) Get my license back and start driving again!

3.) Get my SSN sorted out

    :content:

  2. Regarding the appointment, you can cancel it at any time. :) So, keep checking and if an appointment is available, you should make an appointment anyway. Infopass appointments tend to be filled up quickly (that is why we get the message that there is no available appointment time at this time) . So, it wouldn't hurt to make an appointment now (Most likely, they have dates available through the 23rd since it seems like that they will be on vacation from the 24th.) and use it or cancel it if you need to.

Good advice Nao, I'll keep on checking for an appointment.

In NZ a lot of places close down for the week between Christmas and New Year, I hope USCIS doesn't do the same!

  3. Hi again,

I got an email today about the service request I put in, it said bla bla bla:

The status of this service request is:

Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Just to be clear, is under review and pending the same thing or different? I'm at day 94 and counting :clock:

Nao, I hope you get a better response!

    Hi kiwibecka.

I am so sorry about their totally useless response...

I am not sure whether under review and pending means the same thing....

I will let you know as soon as I hear from them.

By the way, could you make an infopass appointment?

If nothing works on the phone, I would go to their local office and see them in person.

You can tell them that you filed a service request and got a useless response.... and you need AP ASAP cuz you have a plan to go back home and have waited enough.

    Nao

    Hi Nao,

Well it seems that maybe it's not so useless. I just called and they said it means that it's being worked on now (not just sitting in a pile). So that's good. Unfortunately it was for my EAD and there is still no word on my much wanted AP, but I think I'll wait a bit longer before making an appointment. Would be nice too if they didn't have such an attitude in their voice, I can almost hear their thoughts of "you should be greatful you're here at all".

Anyway, I hope you get some news soon ~and for you too Maeve, that must have been a real killer seeing that card just sitting there!

  4. hey! I have a stupid question! How do you know if your case is at NBC or MBC?...if there is a way to know of course...

Where I read the status of my case online,

there it says - my case is currently at NBC

There are no such thing as stupid questions ;)

your case is at MSC/NBC unless you're notified that the case's transferred to CSC or local office.. IMO.. ;)

thanks for the answers guys! ;)

But the thing I am wondering is does anyone has on their page " your case is at Missouri service center"? Me it says NBC, does it mean that my case is in Chicago?

Mine doesn't say it (it says MSC), but one time when I rang up someone said to me "your case is at Missouri service center". You can always ring them up and ask. :star:

  6. Finally, things are moving! I received an e mail for my AP. Approval notice has been sent!!

Frankly I don't really care about the AP, without EAD and a job I can't have the money to go back home ^_^

But it's still good, I hope they'll do my EAD tomorrow!!!

lol thats true!! congrats anyway.. my ap was just approved today too (dated 9dec) but no plans to go home, i am more of my EAD so i can start looking for a job. But still a good news that means they are working hehehhehe.. i still hope they will send my bio sched..

Hey I'll take your AP off your hands if you like, I could really use one. If only I had my EAD, I'd swap it with you!

  7. Hello All,

I am new and this is my first post in this forum. I have sent my applications on 9/19 and still haven't received my EAD/AP. It is frustrating to see that many people who filed after me have already got theirs. I called them for service request and they opened it but still no updates. Hopefully I'll have it soon.

hello welcome to vj and to sept filers group..

il add u up to our list..

pls update your timeline or post here the info for our timeline table..

    hope u dnt mind..

    good luck..

    Hi and welcome!

I soooo know how you feel. I sent mine on the 9/2 and am in the same position as you (as are some other wonderfully patient people ~you know who you are :P ) and I can't wait for the day I can tell envy_me to put some dates next to my name so I'm not on the top of the list for having nothing! :D

Hang in there and let's all hope these service requests get us lining up for interviews too.

  8. Thanks for the response. So it is only for people that have not recieved their biometrics appointments?

No it's not just for biometrics. I put one in too because I've been waiting over 90 days for my AP and EAD with no news. If you've had no touches or news or anything at all, or if your case is outside the current processing time you can try asking them to do it (pray you get someone nice!). Otherwise you can always just call them up anytime and ask them to check the progress of your case, they'll tell you it's either been approved, they need more info, or as is usually the case, that your case is still pending. Calling can be good though because if you're like me, you may not be able to check online, or as was the case with my K1, my case said pending even when it arrived in the post.

The question still remains however as to whether this service request actually does any good!

    Hope that helps :star:

Good luck to all those with interviews.

  9. I have a question about the EAD and the 90-day waiting period. From everyone's experience or research, do they really 'expedite' the EAD application once the 90-day period has passed? Or is it more like a service request and you're still waiting for weeks.

    Thanks.

I have a service request put in last week for my MIA biometrics letter :P. They said I'm going to get an email about it. What will the email say? (I failed to ask the person this at the time).

I'm actually wondering the same thing too. I asked for a service request and they did it but now I realize I don't actually know what that means!!! What does happen now the 90 days is up?

  10. hello all,

I was wondering from which date do you guys calculate the 75/90 days. Is it from the date they received your application?

Hope we see more approvals this week. I haven't had any updates since bio on October 17.

Personally, I count from the time they received my application shown on the NOA.

Hang in there! I haven't been touch either since my biometrics. But I think it's normal, the next touch you'll get is to tell you you've been approved ;) Hope it will be soon!!!

You are right on that one Lucie$damon,

The next touch will definitely be an approval, meanwhile i tried to check but someone told me yours and Time1300 approvals were on the way, and that you should be a litte bit more patient, hehehe.

Dont worry, i know it sucks but it ll come soon!

    Hi,

I've just been on the phone with USCIS and I asked what date to calculate it by and they said it's definitely by the received date, which meant for me that my 90 days was up yesterday! So I asked for a service request and she did it!!!! She said I should get a response by Dec 13, so hopefully now something will be done for sure.

Fingers crossed everyone, I think they must be planning to give us all Christmas mail! :star:

hi kiwibecka.. u mean u asked for service request number that when u call back again u will just give that number? am i right? so i should count from Oct 2? cause i thought i should start from Oct 7 which is the date stated in NOA? thanks a lot

Yes, I got two really long numbers for my two cases (work and travel) that they can use to track that request.

On my NOA I have two dates on the top left corner, one says Received Date: September 07, 2008 and the other underneath says Notice Date: September 10, 2008. The woman said to go by the Received Date. Also, I've found it's just luck if someone will help you or not when you call up, so if you don't get the answer you want, keep calling!

    Good luck to you.

  12. The postman cometh today!!!!

A pair of very sexy-looking advanced parole documents has arrived!!:dance::dance:

Still nothing on the EAD or AOS, tho :( No touches for almost 2 months!! How long do you have to wait before you can start bugging USCIS?

Hey well done, that's great! Well I haven't had any touches at all (and can't even see my AP ~they're "having problems right now" ha!) and at day 86 they weren't interested in me bugging them. But I say bug them as much as you want, it can't hurt any. I plan on spending every day after my 90 days bugging them until I see some results. I thought I'd see what they have to say about this from their website:

If Your Case Is Outside Our Current Processing Time

The processing times that we publish let you estimate how long it will take us to process cases filed before yours, and then process your case.

If you don't hear from us within the normal processing time, check for updated processing times on our Web site.

If at any point your case is outside our normal processing time and you haven't received a written decision or update from us within the last 60 days, you can help us by calling Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283 and letting us know. We will research your case, see what needs to be done to get it processed, and get back to you with an explanation.

If your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, has been pending longer than 75 days since you filed and you have not received a request for evidence or missed a scheduled appointment, call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. Please note: The time between the mailing of a request for evidence and receipt of your response by USCIS does not count towards the 75 days. A missed appointment restarts this 75-day period.

Anyway good luck, we'll get there, kicking and screaming if we have to, but we'll get there!

    ha! Not a bad idea!

And this coming week I'll be on vacation at my folks' house, so I'll have plenty of extra time to bug them

Either they'll get so annoyed by the constant questions that they'll push our stuff to the bottom of the stack, or they'll try to speed things along so we'll stop calling! lol

Hehehe, I think mines already at the bottom of the stack so what's there to lose huh?!! They keep telling me "it's perfectly OK to keep calling Mame" so I figure I'll take them up on that

Have a great time, and keep us posted if you get any good response!

    Hi friends.

I will join you guys once I hit 75 days, which is this Tuesday. hehehe

I think you all already know... but.... After 90 days, you can make an infopass for EAD. Upon making an appointment on infopass, you can select you have been waiting for EAD over 90 days as the reason for visit. I am not sure if it helps, but I will do this anyway if I do not receive it within 90 days. :star:

    Nao

    Hi Nao,

I've just gone and followed the steps to make an infopass appointment just to see when I could get an appointment time, and it says "At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later." :crying:

Oh no! Looks like I'm stuck with the call center after all, at least for the time being. I hope you have better luck with your office if you end up having to make a time.

  15. I do have another question though, I got my drivers license early on after we got married but it expired the same date as on my K1 visa (early Oct) and since then I haven't been able to drive until I get my work permit, which is really frustrating. How do the rest of you get on with this, and what about those of you who haven't applied for a work permit, do you just have to wait until you get your GC?

The DL laws varied from states to states.. There are states where all you need is to bring an ID and a birth certificate <_< grrrrr...(not fair!)

and some states like mine and apparently yours where you need EAD or GC. and yes I guess when you don't apply for EAD you'll have to wait for your GC to drive.

It's annoying this DL thing, cause I never drove before so I need to practice before passing the test. But as soon as I'll get EAD and a job then I will need immediatly a car...which I won't have... SO it's a real dilemma!

Oh wow, I didn't know that. Sigh, guess there's not much for it. Good luck for the test when it comes round. When we did ours the people were really nice and we only had to drive around the car park and some back streets (although we already had overseas licenses, maybe it was easier), and we both did some bad moves and we still passed!

Bring on next week and a whole heap more approvals!!!

  16. Yup we know the feeling too. Ricardo wanted to go home for the holidays. But he already broke the bad news to his mom and dad....they're ok about it but he's kind of sad. Now, we're going to tennessee for christmas which is exciting for the both of us, b/c I finally get a white christmas (we live in FL) and this is his first time seeing snow. But then we have nothing planned for new years which is kind of a bummer. here in the states ppl don't go all out celebrating new year's like they do in Panama (or any other latin american country) so I think New year's will be kind of tough but at least we're togther :)

All i know is next year we are def going to panama in december, that's the last year I'll have a christmas break.....

I'm just sick of waiting, and it's kind of depressing seeing ppl who applied after us getting approved, and we're still waiting. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally excited that ppl are getting their approvals, but I'm not an expert at the waiting game LoL

I understand how you feel and i hope it comes soon so we can all be one happy family waiting on AOS. Cheer up, stay off the webiste check maybe once a day if you can, veejaay more, it might help.

To everyone waiting your time is now, you ll be getting it hmmmm, monday like i told Nagishkaw its coming.... and it did.

    Be happy Y'all

I'm sorry for you guys michellemilitza, I know for me the prospect of going home was what was keeping me going. I hope that might still happen but as my husband said last night, at least we are together again and can (kinda) live our lives normally. And I see we got married on the same day, so maybe we'll get our notices on the same day too! I hear Monday is looking good... :star:

  17. Thanks for all your support everyone, it's so good to be able to talk about this with people who understand!

Well I managed to stop crying long enough to call back to see if someone would tell me something different, but no luck I'm afraid. The guy said that the 90 days is only a guide and that even though the website and my receipt notices say 90 days, the time frame now is between 3-6 months and that I'm still inside 6 months.

I just don't understand how they can give you a time frame and then just decide one day to change it. How can they possibly only be up to July 2 when there are about 6 of you from MSC who have had theirs approved??? I think it's absolutely true that it's just luck of the draw as to who's going to help you and who's going to be  .

Anyway, I won't give up without a fight, I'll call back again next week once the 90 days are up, and just keep calling until I get someone who will help me. After all I have nothing but time on my hands!!!

Congratulations to all you lucky people out there, and here's hoping the MSC gets there act together soon ~Gambate!

  18. Well I have to say that I have just officially given up hope. I just called up again to see if anything more had happened with my application and the woman said that they're only up to July 2 2008 and because they received mine on Sep 7, I should expect to wait up to another 67 days. So now at day 86 I'm told I could be waiting for anther 2 months. I'm so upset, we've booked tickets to go home in Jan and now it seems like there's a very good chance that that's not going to happen.

  19. Hi there,

This is my first time posting, I've been watching this great website for a year now and it's been so useful.

I just wanted to ask you all if you know where your paperwork was sent to? I also filed in Sep and have had nothing since my receipt notices (Sep 10) and biometrics (Sep 30). I'm mostly wanting my AP as we're going away in Jan, and it's the one thing that is not showing on the USCIS tracking page (my AOS and EAD both show as pending). I called yesterday to see if someone could help and the person said it was in the system and everything seemed to be fine but it hadn't been approved yet, and he also said the paperwork was in Missouri (I'm in Atlanta). So, I'm just wondering if it's a little slow because of where it is, and if those of you who are getting approved/appointments etc are from a particular area?

I know there's nothing that can be done about it but I was just curious to see if there's any kind of pattern to it.

Also to angelike31, I renewed my NZ passport last month with my married name on it and it only took about 3 weeks from the time I sent it to the time it came back to me, so you should have enough time to get one by Feb if you need to. Good luck to you!

    :star:

hi kiwibecka.. il add u to our list.. ;)

if your receipt says MSC....., your case is at missouri/NBC..

(i think all paperworks go to NBC which is in missouri)

and if your case is transferred to CSC or local office, you will be notified..

your case will be transferred to your local office if u will have an interview..

that's why if u look at the timeline table, you'll see purple peeps are the ones with the interview date..

purple = case at local office..

Thanks heaps envy_me. And thanks for adding me to your list, you're a star!

Also to angelike31, I renewed my NZ passport last month with my married name on it and it only took about 3 weeks from the time I sent it to the time it came back to me, so you should have enough time to get one by Feb if you need to. Good luck to you!
