  1. If I am correct, you don't need to do anything with SSN after receiving EAD, it's only after receiving GC you need to go in to remove the "restriction" wordings on the SS card.

    Hi everyone,

I have a question about my social security number. I was under the impression that once we receive our EAD we had to go into SSA and have something changed with our SSN, is this true?

I was told the other day at the infopass appointment I had to do this so I've been down to SS this morning and I was turned away because there was supposedly nothing that needs doing.

Who is right here? I'm very confused and annoyed and I'm hoping someone can help me before I have to call USCIS again and ask them for help.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Thanks vb_vj

  3. We were transferred in late september, and no updates after that :(

Has anyone who's case was transfered to CSC been touched after being transfered? Other then EAD

No. So frustrating! We were transferred in late November and haven't heard ANYTHING since then. Getting rather impatient.

I was wondering about the same thing.

No updates, no dates, no up's...

    :clock:

Oh oh, looks like it's time to start another :clock: club! Count me in.

    Angelike:

Nope, no DL for me. They're a bit precious about it here in Georgia. Got a new NZ one waiting for me at home though so will pick that up when we're there, at least then I'll have something.

    Lucie&damon:

I can't believe it :ranting: What a joke.

I see they still haven't updated the website since November either!

  4. Kiwi...I think if the case is transferred to CSC, you most probably won't get interviewed to get your conditional GC.

Has anyone who's case was transfered to CSC been touched after being transfered? Other then EAD

Not me, but then I've never had any touches this whole time...

The last notice I got from them on my AOS said that it "was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office." (CSC) I have to say I wasn't happy about the "standard processing" but I'm glad to see that interviews are coming through for people, it gives me a little hope. I'm just scared that I might get an interview for while we're away now (we're gone for a month) but I guess there's not much for it!

    Nao:

You're so lucky! I'm sure you can get all that paper work sorted no problem. :star:

You know, the only time this process went smoothly for hubby and me was when we were in Japan, I miss the efficiency there! ^_^

Oooh jb_vj don't tease me like that...I don't think I'm that lucky!!! :jest:

    Maeve:

That's awesome chick, feels good doesn't it?

    Nao:

It's so true, it would be done just like that!

  7. Hey everybody!

Happy New Year to all of you (sorry I am kind of late) :star: :star: :star: :star:

A stupid question, I haven't read the posts for a while now, and I think I totally missed something! What is the Ombudsman????

    Thanks!!

    Faustine

In french it's a "mediateur". He's supposed to help you with your case with USCIS. Normally within a week... ;)

Merci miss!! And how do you contact this person exactly? Do you have to ask for him when you call USCIS? I am confused... ;)

Here's the link to the information about the ombudsman: http://www.dhs.gov/xabout/structure/gc_1221837986181.shtm

Scroll down to "2007 Summer Surge A Year Later: Employment Authorization Document (EAD) Processing Delays" it has good info and the email address.

  8. Hi All,

Has any of you guys that has received RFE contacted USCIS and do they specify the reason over the phone or do you just have to wait till you get the RFE in the mail.

Hi time, I'm sorry this really sucks big time. I recall someone (beautifulyears?) having a RFE and trying to get info over the phone but didn't have any luck, they just had to wait for the letter. I would say too that they have lost your papers. Perhaps you could call and ask what the situation is with your interview if they need more info, can you provide the info at the interview for example? May be you'll be lucky and they'll do the interview and push it all through anyway. I hope so at least.

I'm really mad today too. I went to my infopass appointment today and it's seems that it was a waste of time because everything was in the system as it should be, so I went back to the DMV to get my license and they still couldn't do it and now I have to wait another 30 days before I can go back. So now I'm dealing with 2 LAME organizations!

I did ask about the wait time for the AOS though and she said it's usually around 6 months (from your receipt date), could be a little shorter, could be a little longer depending on your case but about 6 months. She also said that some get moved to California to complete processing and to speed it up. Hope that's useful info for someone.

  9. I was scheduled for the interview on February 10. Hopefully everything goes well. On the uscis website my case still shows up at NBC so the site does not always update it seams.

Thanks Iulia, I hope it goes well for you. :star:

Hi kiwibecka...just wanted to say Kia ora. I hope everything goes well for you on your interview!

I see you already have your EAD & AP approved - good job!

I'm still waiting on my EAD & AP which is way overdue...I have my interview on Feb 2nd. so fingers crossed that it all works out.

It's pretty stupid though since I think I will probably get my green card before I get my EAD & AP papers. Oh well, I guess it's back to counting sheep!

Kia ora angelike! How cool to see another kiwi out there :D Don't worry about you EAD and AP if you have your interview date already, you won't need them once you have that and it's not too long to wait now. My hubby and I are off to NZ ~ChCh~ in a couple of weeks to catch up with everyone again so while I really want the interview, I don't want to get a date for when we're away!

In other news, I had to make an infopass appt today as the reason I couldn't get my driver license last week is because there seems to be some problem with my EAD not being in the system properly  Am going to ask about my AOS too since I'm going, so will let you guys know if I find out anything interesting.

  10. I believe they will only do biometrics for what's listed in the appointment letter, so only for I-485 for your case. For our's, there were two case's listed (AOS & EAD) in the bio appointment letter

So I'm doing my biometrics tomorrow morning (finally) but the appointment letter that I received is only for the I-485. Can I do the biometrics for the EAD as well on the same appointment?

Aaah, I see we say different things at the same time! I just went and checked the letter I got and your right jb_vj, mine had both I-485 and EAD numbers on it.

    Sorry!

  11. Hi folks,

So I'm doing my biometrics tomorrow morning (finally) but the appointment letter that I received is only for the I-485. Can I do the biometrics for the EAD as well on the same appointment?

In our group I know of one person (aomary) who got the EAD without the biometrics so I guess it's not required?

Also, I was able to get an infopass appointment tomorrow morning as well to bring up the issue of my EAD as it's been 90 days since I applied. Wish me luck.

Nao: congrats on getting your EAD. After my appointments tomorrow, I will email the ombudsman, as well.

    Hi mellowgeorge,

I worried about this as well but I think that the one appointment actually covers everything. Good luck to you too.

  12. And I have a little question. I'm not sure what those of you who have had interview appointments have received, is it just something in the post or did you get an email along with it? Sorry if this has already been answered, I couldn't remember and as we're going back to NZ soon, I just want to make sure that if something comes I wont miss out on it (hopeful thinking maybe  ). Thanks guys.

I only got the letter in the mail. No email, no update on USCIS website. There was almost two weeks between the date on the letter and the date I actually received it.

Hmm, thanks for that slapointe. Good luck!

  13. Getting someone else on the phone wouldn't change anything. She did the standard procedure of putting in a service request and yes, you can call them if you don't hear anything from then in 45days. I know i know, it's bullshit after waiting 90 days you have to wait another 45 days. So all you can do is wait or go to an info pass appointment as some people have done with success on here and also email Ombudsman which I have done and still no updates. Tomorrow will be one week after contacting ombudsman and they say if we don't here anything within a week to contact their office so I am just going crazy waiting. We really need me to work because it is really tough with one income. Hope this helps

I know that to get another person wouldn't change anything about the process, but at least maybe I would have understand this other person! lol

Sorry, I didn't express my questions very well. What I don't understand is what she did. Is a service request is a request to have an interim EAD or to boost the normal EAD?

She said something about infopass, that I could have one but they don't give EAD. What is an infopass for? What are they going to do if I go to my local office?

I'm sorry that you didn't hear anything from the ombudsman yet! Why is everyone so slow?! ...probably the holidays, huh?!

I hope you'll hear good things tomorrow when you'll call!!

    Good luck! :star:

    Hi agian,

I was told that it did both. It put in a request to speed things up but at the same time sent a request for interim. I don't know what other people have experienced but I got my EAD about 2 or 3 weeks after they made that request (I did contact the Ombdman too in that time though). I hope this happens for you too, even sooner!

  14. Ok. I just called USCIS because today is my day 90.

Last time I called I had a charming man on the phone, but this time I had a girl who was speaking sooooo fast, I couldn't understand a word ( plus my cell connexion sucked). And whenever I asked her to repeat, she would just repeat the same sentence even faster...So I guess she put a service request, i also heard the word interim EAD, and she gave me a confirmation number. For those who already been through this. What is this number for?

I also heard 45days. Am I suppose to do something in 45days if I don't hear from them? Are they going to give me an interim EAD? why not the normal one?

Pfff...I wished I had someone else on the phone... :(

Sorry to hear that lucie&damon, if it makes you feel any better my 'New Zealand English' and their 'American English' can't even get along at times, my accent gets them annoyed with me all the time! But don't worry, the number is just for your reference, it's the proof that they put the request in. I'm sure you will hear something long before 45 days are up but if it feels like too long (maybe a week at most ) get that info pass appointment or email the Ombudsman as Time suggests.

    Time:

I really hope you hear something soon, it does seem that they are at least a little more interested in us though. Contact them tomorrow if you haven't heard anything and let us know how you get on. Good luck.

    Nao:

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

  15. I got an e-mail back from the Ombudsman today already!!

Thank you for informing our office about the delay with your Employment Authorization Document (EAD) application. We understand how important it is for you to receive your EAD on time. Your email indicates that you already made numerous efforts to contact USCIS to address the delay, without success.

We are going to look into your case directly and follow-up with USCIS. You should receive a response shortly from USCIS. Please allow sufficient time for us to look into your case. If you do not hear anything in a week, please email our office again.

Not bad! And a quick response too!

Nothing's changed on our case status online so far, but hopefully this gets things moving!!

I also mentioned how nothing has been done about our Adjustment of Status, and apparently there's a a form that you have to fill out and send in. May as well get working on that one too :)

    that's a good news! :)

hope you get your precious EAD soonie!

    Thanks!! I do too!!!

Hey Maeve that's awesome. It's good to know they do respond too, I never heard anything back from them.

    Congrats and Happy New Year!

  16. my God, do you think they really mean it??

  17. Also, you know what i was wondering...

if your case is transferred to CSC, i understand you might not have an interview...

but does that mean it takes longer to get your gc?

Good question, I'm not sure. I kinda thought that most people get interviewed. My case went there, and I got an email about 10 days ago saying it was now pending standard processing. I know it went there to clear the back log at MSC, which should mean it's going to get processed faster than if it had stayed there, but standard processing doesn't exactly sound speedy. ;)

  18. Im looking at envy_me's list......why isn't anyone who's case is at MSC/NBC getting interview dates?????

Question concerning the AP..... at the bottom is my husband's pic, and above that is a Robert Cowan's signature. Is this normal? One would think my husband's signature should be there. Also, and maybe because his name is so long, they left out the 'D' when spelling his second middle name. Should we be alarmed? First, first middle, and last name is spelled correctly.

    Hi Nagishkaw,

I believe it's just the people in pink who are getting interviews because their paperwork has been forwarded on to their local office (where the interview will be held). I may need to be corrected on this but I think Envy changes them to pink once they say that they have received their interview letter.

As for the AP, that's perfectly normal to have that other signature there (and to have a blank box on the bottom right hand side) so don't worry about that. As for the name though, I'm not sure. Is the D the start of his name? Personally I'd say the fact that his name is long means that no one will even notice but maybe you should give our USCIS friends a call to make sure.
