  1. I'm jealous at everyone here whose cases are pressing forward. It's almost been 60 days already and still no updates on either my I-485, I-765, and I-131 and you know what's strange? I haven't even received a biometrics letter yet. I know the I-765 takes 90 days to process but c'mon 60 days from filing and not even a single touch? This is really making me worried already. I placed a service request twice and even went to the local USCIS this week. None of these helped. What concerns me the most is that I'm waiting only to be told later that the USCIS lost my papers. Now, that's really the last thing I want to happen. If I call the USCIS, is there any way for the customer service rep to find out if my papers are lost or not?

What else can I do aside from waiting? Please help me on this guys.

  2. Hello everyone!.

i filled for AOS on december 1st and got NOA on december 16th and since then ...nothing. i was looking at you timelines and i saw that almost everybody had thier Biometrics in less thatn a month or so. i didnt even got the letter yet. should i be worried? should i call the immigration office and ask about it or should i just wait a little bit more. is anybody else in the same situation, that filled their case in december and still waiting for the letter with the appoiment for Biometrics?

    thank you!

you're not alone, lol. I'm also still waiting for my biometrics :crying: . I filed my application dec. 9, and got NOAs dec. 22. wondering if we have the same case handler who's lazy :P I called the USCIS last Friday to place a service request but I still haven't received anything yet. If you look at the timeline of map1map and marryme, they also waited pretty long. I really envy those who got theirs a few days after mailing their AOS. But oh well, they say good things happen to those who wait

  3. I placed a service request for biometrics on Friday. The CSR got my personal info like address, birthdate, Alien reg. #, etc and gave me a confirmation number. She said she already placed the request for me from at the procesing center (i forgot which one she told me) but told me to wait 45 days :o and if i don't get a biometrics letter within 45 days, I'll call them back and give the confirmation number. Those who called to place a service request, were u also told to wait that long? oh my, why can't they understand that we call to try to hurry the process a little bit and not to wait for another month? :( I'm really hoping i'll get that freakin' biometrics letter within this week *crossin' fingers*

  4. I'm planning on making an infopass appointment for my AOS. It's been 20 days since I received my NOAs but havent received anything from the USCIS again since then. This week if I don't get any notice again, I'm gonna have to go to my local office on Saturday to ask about my concern. How many days ahead should I already make the infopass appointment? And just in case I get some notice from the USCIS before this coming Saturday (hopefully), can I cancel the infopass?

What notice are you expecting to get?? you have only just filed for AOS you have recieved your NOA1's for the AOS, EAD and AP so you now have to wait for your Biometrics appointment and that will take a while longer, you are within the normal processing time for your application. If you have not heard anything in 3 months time then would be the time to make an infopass appointment.

i know about the timeframe. But then there are some people who have waited for the normal processing time and when the waiting goes beyond that length and they call the USCIS, they're told that their papers are lost or they got denied because they didn't do the biometrics for instance (although they haven't received such notice), etc. Those are the last things that I want to happen to my application. Then there are also those who, like me, have been worried about not getting any more notices and call the USCIS hotline just in case it can help, and then a few days later receive a mail.

I think I would rather try and find out what they say.

  6. Hey, I just noticed in your timeline that u mentioned Salt Lake City. I'm livin' in Salt Lake right now.I was about to mention that when u said that biometrics sent out depends on your local office.

What a small world! :) Where in the valley do you live? Ours took awhile after our NOAs arrived, then we ended up doing a walk-in. But you have to have your biometrics appointment letter to be able to do that. If you end up doing your biometrics before you move...the building looks empty, but it really is there. :)

I'm in Holladay. I won't be surprised why the building looks empty coz if I'm right, there aren't as many immigrants in Utah as there are in other States like California, Virginia, Florida, etc. The local offices in Utah shoudn't be very busy I think, so what delays my biometrics appointment? LOL :P It's just so frustrating when you check the mailbox every afternoon only to find bills and coupons

Actually...there's a lot of immigration in Utah, but it's primarily from Mexico. You might be surprised at the illegal immigrant population in Salt Lake. There are at least two USCIS locations here. The primary one where they do interviews and stuff, then there is the "application support" building where they do biometrics. The only sign on the building says "Application support", you would never know it was USCIS by looking at it.

can't wait to go to that building :P Hopefully before this month is over. I'll give update once I've done my biometrics. Good luck to us all.

  8. I noticed in the spreadsheet that only me and Piyanet&Dan mailed our AOS on Dec. 9, and neither of us got a biometrics appointment already (don't know though if Piyanet&Dan updates his/her timeline). While there are some other filers (K1 based) who mailed their AOS later than Dec. 9 but have done their biometrics already. This confuses me. I thought the processing is on a first come-first served basis.

Biometrics are completely dependent on your local office and how busy they are. The request to schedule biometrics, theoretically, gets sent out to the local offices in the order that Chicago receives them...but after that, if your local office is busy (I've heard Seattle is really bad, for example) it takes a long time. Some places get them out ASAP. It's just luck of the draw as to whether your local office is slow or not. Hopefully you'll get yours soon!

Does this mean that when someone gets a biometrics appointment in the mail, the sender's address on the envelope is the address of his local office and not the Chicago lockbox? Which office should I ask/ talk to regarding my concern on not getting a biometrics appointment yet? the local USCIS office? or the one in Chicago?

If you know you're moving, could you change your address with USCIS to a family member/friend's house? If you did it now, you would be certain not to miss anything and then you could change it again once you know where you're going to be living. I don't think there was a return address on ours...just the standard "USCIS Department of Homeland Security" stamp. I would worry too much about not having received it yet. Take a look at some of the November filers timelines, I know some of them didn't receive their bio letter until the beginning of December.

thank you for the explanation. I'm just kinda worried about not having biometrics done this month because our apartment lease expires by the end of the month and we're for sure going to move but not certain yet where to go to. So let's say i get scheduled for biometrics in January and my husband and I are moving to another state, that sounds like trouble already plus the worry of possibly not getting future mails from the USCIS due to the change of address. Sigh...

  12. Does my sponsor (spouse) also need to fill-out G325A for my AOS application or am I the only one who needs the form?

Since you're the one who's adjusting status, you're spouse (petitioner) doesn't need to fill-out G325A. If you're filing I-130, petition for alien relative, both of you needs to fill-out G325A. But in this case, your spouse doesn't need to fill-out one.

Goodluck kababayan sa journey!!! Sana maging ok ang lahat...take care

Thanks jhunjhun :) I can see that you've also just mailed the AOS not long ago, so goodluck to you too.

  13. I'm thinkin about using money order to pay for my AOS. We can do the check but I'm just worried that USCIS might not cash it immediately and lots of bills are coming. Currently, the money in the bank are the money for the AOS and money for the upcoming bills. We set up automatic payment for our bills so the bank automatically pays them on their respective scheduled dates. I'm worried that the bills might go in first before USCIS cashes the check.

That's why I'm thinking of using money order instead. But how will I know that USCIS has already cashed it? And in case of money order loss, how can I get a new money order in replace of it? I mean, how does a money order work?

    Thanks for any input.

  14. To be safe, he should find a co-sponsor. Even though he's on another job that has sufficient income, there is no guarantee that he will keep that job. In the U.S., most new jobs have a six-month probationary period during which he can be dismissed without cause.

we tried to look for a co-sponsor but didn't find one :( his parents don't even want to that's why I don't like his parents, LOL.

Then I'd get an employer letter if possible and supply pay stubs to verify income. State the current annual income as what it will be for twelve months working the current job. For instance, if he makes $500 a week multiply by 52 and state $26,000 as the current annual income.

Thanks for the reply. Thats actually what we're doing. I just wanted to make sure if we're good to submit AOS even if the income on tax returns are below the poverty line as long as he has a job with the "right" income. I hope someone here who had the same experience and got approved of GC would share info and whatnot. I'm worried about getting denied.

  16. I don't know the laws with the K3 visa. I came here on a K1 visa and have been out of status since October 2007. My husband's income just didn't meet the poverty limit, but now he does and I'm getting ready to submit my AOS this month. From what I've read in other forums, it's ok for K1 to stay in the US even if out of status as long as she married her petitioner within the 90-day period.
