My husband and I are hooked on Dog Whisperer and just had to see what South Park was going to do with him...omg how funny was that
-
someone at work just asked if Lucia was going to be celebrating cinco de Mayo......
not sure if I should laugh or cry......I've got a lot to look forward too
Take a deep breath because it's going to get worse.....what gets me is when I mention to somebody that Spanish is my first language, they're like "really...but you're black"
I love the fake ethnic festivals hahahahaha....it's still something fun to do....even if it is only an excuse to drink beer.
Chi town.....will you be heading out to Navy Pier?
I haven't hit too many of their festivals but maybe this summer I will take the train with Lu and check it out.
I'm sure we'll make it to Navy Pier at some point....
But come for Taste of Chicago!
Edited to add...I like your attitude about the FEF's (fake ethnic festivals - hee)....don't know why peeps get all worked up about other peeps wanting to do something fun...
Is that by any chance like Taste of DC where you can sample the food served at different restaurants? There is basically a list of restaurants that have special prices on the menu...

It stinks. It's the same show every week.
That's exactly what I told my husband
There's a weird disease in every episode, and House is the only one who can save/unmask the patient. I don't really like his attitude....and if that were a real hospital, you better believe I wouldn't be going there!

Ok, question. My husband (the non-USC) has a sister who is 16 years old. She lives with her mother, who is sick and can't even make enough money to feed herself much less her daughter and son. My husband and I have been sending money for her to go to school and for the family to eat.
We would like to bring his sister here to teach her and make sure she is ok.
My question is this: If their parents were to give up parental rights to my husband, so that she would be considered his daughter, would she be able to come here as such? She seems to fall through all the cracks, and I know this is a long shot, but I just thought I would ask. We are basically taking care of her already, she would just be a little closer if she were here.
Thank you for reading

To sponsor he would need to be a Citizen.
Too old to adopt, well for immigration purposes.
I think that you also need to consider the adoption process/rules in your husband's country...

Your brother should be fine as long as his passport his machine-readable, unless issued after Oct, 26 2005 (last January could mean both). I don't know why Italian passports issued after that date wouldn't have digitized pictures, but I guess it's possible.
Since you, however, live in the US, it might be a good idea for your brother to apply for a visa anyway just to make things faster at POE. Siblings don't usually raise red flags, but it can of course lead to some extra questions. The visa (B2) is normally good for ten years and multiple entries.
Carola, those that have passports issues after October 26, 2005 have two options: (1) go to select questuras to have digital photos taken for their passports or (2) apply for a tourist visa.
Please take note that if a passport is renewed, or you add additional pages, it counts as a new passport and you will need a visa to travel. We found out about this when my sister-in-law was refused travel last Christmas. My in-laws were aware of the change in regulations and so had applied and obtained their tourist visas, but the regulations did not mention renewed passports and the local questura told my sistere-in-law that she was fine....when she wasn't.
Fish, the reason that passports issued after that date don't have digitized pictures is that not all questuras are equipped to do them. The questura in Rome was supposed to have this equipment by the time the regulation came out, but it didn't.

Congrats!!

It's time to make an infopass appointment at your local office to apply for an interim EAD, since you are now eligible.
Yes, get an interim EAD

The scales are fibbing... When I ate a whole family sized bag of Almond m and M's I lost lbs. Now that I am eating fruits and veggies and exercising i gained lbs.... I guess my body will have to adjust to the shock...
We'll see where we are by next Monday... I went swimming again today.....
Moondancer
Actually, when you lose fat and gain muscles, the scale goes up a little because muscles weight more than fat! So don't worry and keep exercising!
That's what's happening to me now....I've been going to the gym for 3-4 days a week for three weeks and I actually gained a few pounds although I look a lot slimmer....
Went to my first spinning class yesterday......ouch!!!

Congratulations!!!

If you've never tried it then Peroni (Italian lager) is a FINE beer!

If you can find Moretti, it's much better...
I like that and the Dominican beer, Presidente...

Good
I have to tell my husband....let's see how gli azzurri do this time

After stringing it out as long as he possibly could - the massively corrupt Silvio Berlusconi has finally conceded the election.
OK so what does that do for me here in the USA?
It doesn't affect you, but it sure does have the potential to affect my in-laws and friends in Italy...not to mention that it lessens the uncertainty present in the Italian economy

Finally....I hope that he goes straight to jail...
-
I haven't seen that show, but I have seen My Super Sweet 16 on MTV and Real Housewives of Orange County...same scenario, spoiled rich people...
-
Not surprising.....on another note, how are those kids doing in math?

time for a second opinion

I already had my interview. I wasn´t approved due the Name Check is pending.
Anyway............ I do have my Advance Parole and my concern is if 2 months abroad is not a lot of time outside the USA and someone at the port of entry can deny re enter the USA.
thanks!
If you already had your interview, can you wait until you are approved and have your GC?
-
I don't think that you can go to the Baltimore office if you live in DC or VA...
-
I don't see how an RFE for AOS could affect the processing of your EAD....it can, but not necessarily
-
You apply for advanced parole at the same time as filing for Adjustment of Status, it's additional form called I-131 and costs an additional $170
