  1. Just because the employment agency "accepted" the stamp doesn't mean it was legal!

Technically it was not - fiance(e)s need more than just the stamp in the passport and a SSN to be legally authorized to work.

Think that point's been made enough times already in this thread, but just to be sure...:)

i fail to see how it was illegal. the man was on the books and paid taxes just like i do.

New rules have since been enforced and whilst I recognise that you are merely posting your experience, posts like these keep giving false hope to those who believe they can come here on a K1 / K3 and get a job straight away.

please quote the sources of the 'new rules' that were put in place since april 27, 2009. also, this forum is a place to post experiences, especially those which are recent and relevant. hope is not false if it exists. additionally, this thread was started for absolutely no reason and can be added to the lengthy list of threads started with the exact same topic, to many of which i added my experience.

finally, in no way did i give ill-advice. i 'merely' offered an experience.

  2. maybe no card/ no work is a general rule; however, in april 2009, my husband, then fiance, went through an employment agency that accepted the stamp in his passport that he received at POE for employment authorization. maybe this was a flaw on their part, but we had 2 incomes within weeks of his arrival. his EAD came right around the time his stamp expired, so there was no gap in employment.

  3. unhealthy things should cost more $$$. don't you know the conspiracy of 'the man' keeping us down by making twinkies cost pennies and fresh fruit costing half our salary? somebody wanted to kill us all by making us fat. soda=fat.

  4. what are you guys waiting for? dima's poe was a few days after interview...we just couldn't wait!

Amber, her family is top priority and she was living thousands of miles away from them in Moscow. Therefore, it was extremely important to spend a few weeks with her family before she is restricted to travel for a long time (until she finally gets AP). Every case is a different situation.

i'm glad she said her goodbyes. it will still be a tough move, but hopefully worth it!

  5. We'll see Dave. Alla finaly has her new car (after practicing with an older model for a year...glad THAT is over) and has outfitted it with baskets for make-up, shoe polish, cleaning supplies and an extra pair of heels (which she just today switched for an extra pair of high heelded boots). I try to outfit the car with jumper cables and a snow shovel (it IS Vermont after all) and she objetcs! I figure she will ditch that van in a January snowstorm and when they retrieve her, she will be dead and frozen but looking DAMN GOOD! :lol:I'd probably still prefer her to American women.

    This is so true!

you men are so jaded. stop crying :crying:

  6. i guess i was silly. i was hunting for a man with great looks and intelligence for reproductive purposes. i want smart, good-looking kids. money can't buy that...

Haven't you ever heard of sperm banks, you can get the best kids money can buy. Hell you can Nobel Prize or cosmonaut sperm if you want it.

    i bought a kid---full of pretty sperm.

That's the spirit Amber - Stir it girl

    :D
