Hey VJ members, I know I am a later October filer, but just want to tell everyone that I did send my AOS package yesterday and my
package did arrive to the Chicago lockbox and signed today so I am very excited
. Hope my process and every other October filers
process goes smoothly. I just want to say the spreadsheet to keep track of everyone's process is such a good idea and I dont remember
the name of the member who made this and is taking the time to keep track of everyone, but I just want to compliment that member and
I want to know if I can be added to the list. Thank you very much in advance and good luck to everyone in their process.

Hey guys I want to ask you, when you are applying for the I-131, do you need evidence or documention on why you are requesting this document that is what I am confused about the most. I am pretty sure in my mind that I wont be approved for this document because I am now out of staus currently, so I am not planning on applying for it and plus I am have no intentions to use it for any reason, because its totally risky to use, so I want to know everyones experience on this question.
If you have overstayed, then don't even bother to apply for the AP. You are correct that it is too risky to use.
Plus, why overload the system with something you won't use?
Hey cdn_in_wa thank you very much for the info, yeah that is what I thought, I was pretty reluctant in applying for the AP because of my
current staus and yeah I have been told it is way to risky to use because if I was to try to travel to Toronto and tried to enter back into the
US my chances of being allowed back in are very low and my case would be abanonded so thanks for the info and will not apply for it.
I have AP and have used it. I had not incurred any overstay. The first time I used it, I was given a very hard time on reentry. I almost didn't use it again.
They questioned me extensively on dates and intent. I really wasn't sure I was going to be let back in the US. Other times I have used it since then have been much less strenuous. Still, I decided to stay put in the US once I had my interview date.
You are wise to forgo the AP and wait out your AOS.
Oh ok and wow that sucks you were given a hard time having AP and trying to enter back into the US. I want to ask you, what is your
timeline and what status did you come into the US and what stage are you in immigration journey? Thanks for the compliment and if you
dont mind me asking what part of Canada are you from and how long did it take you to receive your AP and EAD?

hmmmmmm..
IMHO, USPS maybe is fast, but they tend to hmm "misplace" some mail from time to time...
read all the stories, right here on VJ, about some NOA's not received, etc...
personally, all papers which are important to me, I send using FedEx
doesn't have to be overnight, may use as a second day option as well..
the cost is about $17... again, IMHO, little cost comparing to value..
pros: detailed tracking and signature proof of delivery, that equals peace of mind....
Hey Madd thanks for the info and I didnt know that they were horror stories behind the USPS, but I guess with everything there is abit of horror stories behind everything LOL. I do get your point though if it is something important to spend the extra money on something important.
yes,
cost of FedEx (about 1% of the money given to USCIS) = <$20
filing fees = > $1500
package lost by USPS = priceless
that is a very true statment you have made right there, I agree 100%

Hey again, I want to ask you guys, when you are sending the final package, the I-130 and the 1-485 along with the I-765 and all the other necessary papers do you send everything to the concurrently filing lockbox address or do they go to seperate addresses?
-

We just used USPS, I don't think they read anything into the method of sending though, so just do whatever's easiest. Don't be discouraged if you don't (ever) see any updates when you check on the website though, we never had any updates and if I check it today it still says the last update was July 3 and everything is still pending approval, despite the fact that I had EAD/AP months ago and was shown on the IO's screen at the interview that my GC is in production. It's great if you see updates, but not worth worrying about if not!
Thank you Jon&Lindsey again, your process was pretty quick though so I am hoping our process will be quick with no road blocks you know. For the EAD dont you need some sort of proof or evidence in why you are requesting this document and if so what kind of document would be good. How long did it tak you to get your EAD and AP?

I sent mine via usps next day delivery - one of those flat rate mailing envelopes. I don't think either gets overwhelmed since if you look at most timelines, mail is picked up and dealt with pretty speedily. I think it says somewhere that the optimum way to send it is Priority with delivery confirmation - the USPS way. I would not worry if I were you - they seem to have a very good system with the mail, so either way is fine and it just depends on whether or not you want the peace of mind in knowing your package was received and in process.
When your application is received, USCIS sends you a Notice of Receipt (NOA) and on it will be your receipt number. Once you have that, then you can create an account on the USCIS website under "my case is pending" and watch it's progress. Believe me though, it's like watching paint dry...
Good luck!
Oh ok thanks for the advice and tip Beantownbabe, I guess I will use the USPS route I have heard that the postal service is quite fast. When you sent your package did you put it in an envelope and how much did it cost you to send the package to chicago?
Hey guys, I am back with a question once again LOL. I want to ask you guys, there are 2 different lockbox addresses when you arefiling the AOS package concurrently, one is for US postal service delieveries and the other lockbox address is for courier/express, so I
want to ask you guys, how many of you guys did express/courier and how many of you guys did regular mail delivery? I know express/
courier arrives faster than regular mail, so I want to know if it would raise red flags or if alot of people send their package through courier
or express that the address for courier/express gets overwhelmed with packages. Is it better to send it to the lockbox with regular
postage? I know the question may sound stupid or may not make sense but hope it makes sense or you get what I am saying. I also
want to ask you guys when you do send your package and it arrives to the lockbox, when is it that you can check your status on USCIS
website, how would you know when to register for it? Thank you guys in advance.
USPS all the way, no point on paying extra. Check right away, odds are that it won't be ready, just keep checking.
Thank you GueraYTavo for the advice and I will stick with USPS.
-
You're welcome! Best of luck with the application
Thank you Jon&Lindsey.

I reside in Arizoan and our joint sponsor resides in Clifornia...it's sucks but we don't have a choice..good luck to your journey....
Aww Arizona huh, your lucky to have the nice warm weather down there, I heard its not humid down there, but very warm. I am residing in Ohio, its very nice down here, but nothing weather wise like Arizona lol. Good luck with your journey and it was very nice of your wifes uncle I believe to volunteer to be the joint sponsor. Thanks buddy and right back at ya. I am pretty much at home stretch with my AOS package and will be sending it out Monday, need to pick up medical exam envelope and get tb read and ready to file.
-
Thanks
Actually, the only evidence we sent with the application was a copy of the apartment lease with both our names on, and we wrote the checks from our joint bank account. This seemed to satisfy them until the interview, when we took the photos and letters as well. Just send whatever you have for now, and focus on gathering more for the interview. Although we didn't have much, our big photo album/scrapbook seemed to really help. For the application, we bought those clear plastic wallets and put each form with its supporting documents in a separate one, not stapled or anything. Remember each form needs its own supporting documents, so you need to make multiple copies. Hope that helps, I know it's hard to gather a lot of evidence when you haven't been married long!
Wow that is very cool too hear and it sure does help hearing stories and experiences like yours, thank you for the info and tips you are very awesome. My wife and I have been spending the whole weekend putting everything together, it sure is alot of work gathering info and support docs, but we are very close to filing and Monday is the due date. I have to go pick up my medical envelope at the doctors monday and get my tb test read and it will be off to the post office. I will be bothering you if I have more questions lol. Thanks again.

I'm from Saskatchewan..I'm still thinking of how I'm going to arrange evrything..I was exhausuted when I'm doing these forms for my AOS alone. I'm almost done..may be by nxt week we will mail it to the Immigration...i'm hoping that this will get over soon...for now..we're still waiting for I-864 from my wife's uncle in California...it's really hard to get a joint sponsor if he or she lives in different states..a lot of waiting.. anyways, would like to say good luck.. GOD Speed!!!
Oh ok cool. Yeah I am still like you trying to figure out how to package everything together. I am pretty much to the finish line of filing, it will be done by Monday. I already did my medical examination and I am just have to go back and get my results and stuff. It cost me about $350 for everything. Damn that sucks that your sponsor is in California because that can definately be hard to get a hold and have to wait for the info from your sponsor. What state do you reside in? Anyways thanks for the good luck and right back at you, hope all goes well for you on your journey, isnt it so crazy this immigration stuff and the hoops we have to jump through. Take care and thanks for the reply.

You definitely need this for interview. Other possibilities:
Both names on car insurance, vehicles owned together
Photos of you guys together at various places and with friends/family
Birthday/anniversary/valentines cards to each other and from family/friends
Joint cell phone contracts
Letters from friends about your relationship
For an affidavit, I think you just have your friends write whatever, then take it to a notary and sign it in front of them, then the notary stamps that they witnessed the signature. When we need something notarized, we just go to our bank, as they have at least one employee who is a notary and can do this. The letters we took to our interview weren't even notarized, and it didn't seem to matter (see my interview review post).
First of all congrads to the both of you for getting approved for your green card, I saw your post and very glad to hear the experience was good and it gives me hope when my time comes. Thank you for your advice on the bonafide marriage evidence, its just hard to have so much evidence if you have been married for only 5months, but our evidence is very small right now so we are doing whatever it is we can for now and gather more evidence when the interview comes around. I think I have asked this question so many times, but how did you package all the forms and support docs and photos? Thanks again and congrads once again.

WOOOHOOOOO ANYONE WANNA CELEBRATE WITH ME!!!! I RECIEVED MY APPROVAL FOR ADVANCED PAROLE!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY I WANT TO CRY....
congrads twilighter for getting approved for the AP, that is really awesome and bet you cant wait to visit friends and family back in Canada. Very cool theres another fellow Canadian here, what part of Canada are you from? I am from Toronto. Since you got approved for the AP, I am in the process of filing and will be this Monday, I wanted to ask you about Part 7 of the 1-131, do I fill that out since it mentions if you are applying for AP?
Hi there...I am from Niagara Falls, Ontario sop really close to you lol...it should tell you that you could skip if applying for advanced parole..I filled everything out then brought it to the USCIS to check all forms to make sure they were correct, they were veryhappy to help and they made sure all my forms were perfect...Then I sent them off......if I can help in any other way let me know!!!!!
And good luck!
Oh ok Niagara Falls huh, oh yeah that is really close to Toronto lol. Yeah I figured that it is telling you to skip that section of the application but I was unsure so thanks for confirming it. I didnt know you can just go to your USCIS office and they would assit you on the paperwork that is cool. How did you package everything? Good luck once again and have a good weekend. I will definately ask more questions if they come up.

It could come up at interview time?
joint bank accounts?
health insurance plans?
life insurance bennificiary?
Oh ok thanks for the info.
This does not come up for I-485... later when removing conditions from a CR-Greencard it becomes a factor.I-130 gives you several options, one is simply letters "Affidavits" from friends or relatives.
Thank you for clearing that up for me.
-
Hi, I asked so many questions lately and I'm very thankful for all the efforts that you've spent answering my questions...I'm almost done with all my papers for my AOS. bAnyways, here is my question...before question #4 in Part 3 says " If you are applying for advance parole document, skip to part 7". Yes I'm applying for advance parole to allow me to return to United States after temporary foreign travel. Seems like question in Part 7 does not apply to my case, I'm I correct? All questions that being asked in Part 7 is related to an applicant who is still outside the USA. Thank s alot
Hey jhunjhun very good question, I also want to know about this myself. It sure is very confusing all these forms. I
noticed you are from Canada, thats really cool, what part are you from? I am from Toronto. How is the package
coming along and if you dont mind me asking, how are you packaging everything?
-
Hey guys, I have a question, inregards to the bonafide marriage proof, my wife and I dont have much evidence as
many people in here would. I want to ask you guys, my wife and I are currently living with friends right now, so we
dont have a rental lease or anything like that, so I heard that you can use an affidavit stating we live with friends, is
that true? I also want to know how do you write an affidavit and what should it state? Has anyone been in this situation
and would this kind of proof be suffice for the bonafide marriage evidence. Could anyone in here give examples of
the types of proofs they have had if they were lacking bonafide marriage evidence? Thank you guys in advance and
hope you guys have a good weekend. BTW thank you to those who have replied to my prior posts and I am
very sorry if I have not replied to those who I have not replied back too.
-
Hey guys I know I am asking way too many questions in here. I want to ask you guys when you were putting
everything together like all the forms, passport pics, evidence everything how do package everything?
Do you use a big brown envelope or something and for the 2 money orders, who do you make the payments out to?
-
Sorry everyone for the late reply but I just wanted to say thank so so much for posting your interview experience, I greatly appreciate it.
-
Hey everyone, I was just curious to ask the members on this forum who already went through the AOS interview through visitor visa,
if they remember the questions that was asked during the interview? What kind of questions are asked and how long does the interview
last? I would love to hear everyones experience who adjusted from a visitor visa. but I would especially like to hear from all the
Canadians who have done this as well on their overall experience.
Thank you in advance and hope everyones journey goes smoothly.

Firstly did you study the I-765 example? http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-765.pdf
How did you enter the USA??? K-Visa???
Profile details filled out and timeline helps, it is hard to answer questions without details.
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...rCP&CODE=01
http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=56085
WAS YOUR INTENT UPON ENTRY TO MARRY AND IMMIGRATE?
How about NOT writing one continuous sentence, perhaps one question per line?
Hey Yu and Dan my appologizes for not double spacing my sentences I appologizes for that. I enter the US as a visitor
and I had no intent to get married nor stay in the US. It was spur the moment wedding, nothing was planned. Thanks
for the info and I will definately add info into my timeline.

Your welcome and thanks to the both of you and thank you for adding me to the spreadsheet. Oh my appology for not stating what visa, I
adjusted from a visitor visa. I noticed you have a Jamaican flag on your avatar and my background is Jamaican, I am born and raised in
Canada but both of my parents are Jamaican.
