Thanti THANK YOU for the information. I sent it over to Chada via email but they are having problems with the Internet. Would it be possible to call her tomorrow to discuss?
Also here is a link to the Bangkok website for the DS2001 Form

I guess it was a bad week to stop the IV drugs...
On a serious note I wish they would amend the packet 3 instructions to include 1 jar of lube "For petitioner"
I thought you said you don't keep beer at the house?
That's right. I cant do the black tar heroin without a beer. I need something to sterilize the needle.

On a serious note I wish they would amend the packet 3 instructions / petitioner section... Keep original 1 jar of lube for paket 4 and interview.

Chada said there is chatter on the Thai site that they are asking for photo ID's and House registration cards (I THINK) I really could not understand what documents she was describing.
Dude there is all sorts of cussing going on in my head at the moment.

Chada got a reply from the embassy today that they had received our Packet 3 on May 12th. They indicated documents were missing and they would send a list to her in the "near future".
So much for all the hard work on the checklist I built and busting my @ss around Bangkok on the last trip to get everything right the first time. I will be disappointed if a mistake was made on our part but I'll be livid if they want additional documents not listed on their own checklist. Besides me being previously married 16 years ago you could not have a more simple vanilla case other than ours. LOL, I thought we were going to be different....... Turns out I was hammered just like a LB.
Daboys its 10:15 and I need some Vodka...

This is a little off topic but if you guys havent noticed I have not been spending much time on here. I found the recent embassy issues combined with the overall duration of this adventure were getting to me. I need to keep my focus on positive things and since I like building stuff I choose to do several projects around the house while waiting for Chada to join me.
My project list is:
*_Running HD to each room from my Receiver / DVR
*_Landscaping the front of my house with flower selection from Chada
*_Building a Thai / American vegetable & spice garden.
*_Finishing up other home projects
*_Organizing the house for our life together
This plus work and friends are consuming 110% of my time. I wont be able to keep this up for more than a few months but that should tie in nicely to relaxing and taking multiple vacations after Chada gets here. This may sound crazy to you guys but its keeping me sane. Do you have anything to do before your girl gets here???
Thanks for reading...

I would not trust someone sending an email about what to include. My SO has read on the Thai forum where during the interview the american guys asks a Thai assistant if they have the documents in the packet. Without ever looking the girl responds "don't have" when the documents are there. In many cases the beneficiary's will not argue with the embassy employees and do whatever they ask.
My advise to anyone going through the Bangkok embassy is to:
Follow the instructions
Overkill on proof of relationship
Have duplicate originals of anything you have to mail them.
Yes this is ridiculous but the question you have to ask yourself is would you rather do more work upfront while waiting for the interview or after? I want my girl here as soon as possible after the interview and don't mind the extra work. I think it also lets you sleep better at night knowing you have the bases covered.

I would get 2 original copies. One for packet 3 and one for the interview. I know it sounds crazy but if you read posts from about 6 weeks ago you will understand.

Here's the latest e-mail I have received, I wonder what could be missing and when they plan on "getting back to the applicant by mail"
Dear Mr. xxxxx and Ms. xxxxx:
The IV Unit has received the returned Packet 3 documents of Ms. xxxxxx through the mail on May 12, 2009. The returned documents are not sufficient to schedule an interview appointment. The IV Unit will get back to the applicant by mail regarding additional documents she will have to mail to the U.S. Embassy to schedule a visa interview appointment.
Wow that sucks! The embassy got our Packet 3 the same day. I guess Chada needs to be checking hee email everyday from now on.

Excuse me. I'm going to go throw up now...

I would like to know how far out the packet 3 to packet 4 waiting list is. I think USCANDUAL has been waiting 4+ weeks. These changes sure have thrown my Chada support plan for a loop. (give notice early / I pay 5 weeks of salary so she leaves immediately after interview) That would have saved me 30 days of waiting for her to qive notice after the interview. I have to say I feel pretty lucky. We have been open to her employer about the issues and it seems they have not tried to hard to find a replacement. Maybe Chada's personality is rubbing off on them.
(just a little bit lazy) as she likes to call it....

I personally don't need those functions, so picked the simpliest and cheapest one.
That's so Un-American

I believe the phrase you're searching for is "get a room!"
I didn't want to be that rude.

Ask and ye shall receive
Great steamer researched online and bought it. Works flawlessly. Its at Target in white and black
Just go to the grocery store and get the Jasmin rice. You will love the way it smells when cooking. Just a warning eating it right after cooking will spoil you. Everything else that not Jasmine or just cooked will never taste as good.
Great, Great book. It also has the Thai names for the dishes so you can talk about them with you SO as you make them. Also has pictures of the food prepared which is really cool. and yes your sticky rice is in there.

Welcome to the inner circle
Thats a great question as things seem to have changed recently. I would factor about 4-6 weeks to get a date. Lets hope it goes faster!!

What have people done regarding shipping of clothes and personal articles from Thailand? On my Korean Air flights I see people with huge taped boxes but not sure what the cost is and wonder how to factor the ROI on her leaving clothes and personal items there vs. buying everything new.
Thought, Ideas, Plans???

Chada called the travel agent Mommy and someone else recommended. They indicated June 9th - Sept 8th was high season for travel to the US and a 1 way ticket was about 950.00. They also said the tickets would get more expensive as seats sold out. That was about the same price that I was finding on the US websites...
-
That's great news! Congratulations.

You can wait for packet 4 but there is no need to do so. I made the checklist while in Bangkok prior to our NOA2. My SO is somewhat of a procrastinator so I built the checklist as we did everything together. That way I made sure it was done and off MY checklist.
BTW they have the medical forms at the hospital.

There is a couple of minor items I need to update related to the I-134 but this should help you.

I live in Texas and it was 8 - 10 days from VSC. Just call NVC and ask if they received it and for your new number. NVC had everything done by the time I contacted them to ask.

MarkNAan thanks for the great post! I got a real laugh out of it. While I have not encountered anything like that it fits the pattern for sure. What is it about our culture that drives us to get things done? Are we just a unique sampling of individuals on this forum that have the research DIY gene?
SAWASDEE 3 (2009 Thai thread restarted)
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
I agree with USCANDUAL 100%. If you want to get through the process as painless as possible its a good idea to participate in this group and convince your significant other (SO) to be as diligent as possible on the Thai website. My girl and many other have such a laid back attitude they very much under estimate the process. If you or she choose not to do this it doesn't mean you wont get a visa. It just means you will likely have more delays because of missing something or making mistakes.
I guess another lesson learned would be to do everything for Packet 3 yourself. Chada did not send in my divorce decree in packet 3... To do packet 3 yourself you need to start working on everything after your NOA1. The only exception would be waiting 60 days (VSC) to get TWO police reports. Seeing how slow the embassy is processing the NVC and packet 3 paperwork there is no longer a reason to get the medical done before packet 3.
Man this is all very upsetting.
