  1. Lucky you I am hoping for one as well I want to be transferred

Good luck with your bio appointment tomorrow I have mine at 9, thank god we went to check it out on Sunday as I would never have found the place it is in a massive Mexican shopping mall and the signs are not in English. I feel some shopping coming on after the appointment

Oooh Shaz, more shopping... :-D Can I join you? :-)

There's no reason to believe you are not going to be transferred. There is still time for it.

    Good luck tomorrow morning.

  2. when can we make the walk in?

anybody here is living in CT ?

I don't mean to be a spoilsport but are you aware that not all offices accept walk-ins? If they allow it and you live nearby (not to waste to much time getting to the centre), you can do it any time. It seems (from reading others' posts) that people have been successful in getting their biometrics done earlier if the officers were not too busy so for most people it worked if they turned up on Saturday.

    Good luck.

  3. Our transfer date was about 2 weeks before the biometric appointment. There have been a few people transferred who said they were later transferred back to a local office. But they were almost kinda "dazed and confused" sounding posts so I wasn't sure if they were really transferred back or just not reading their notice properly. I didn't keep up with them to see if they actually interviewed. You probably won't interview, so congratulations!

Yay, no interview for you

Thanks guys. What a relief !! :-)

  4. Received an interesting letter from USCIS today. I was a bit worried when I picked it up since I just could not imagine what it could be. To be quite honest RFE didn't even occur to me at that point. The worrying part came because I've got my bio appointment in 2 days time so I was shaking opening the letter.

It turns out it was a TRANSFER NOTICE !!!! Apparently we got transferred to CSC on the 26th! Not bad :-). Hopefully that means no interview! :-). Yay!!!!

  5. Phoning them for an earlier interview is unlikely to be successful since you just waste time at that expensive line.

I sent a cover letter with my packet 3 explaining the circumstances and why I'd like an interview asap. I did put the intended wedding date on the forms but somebody obviously didn't read it as they schedulled my interview on my wedding day! So I called the extortion line and asked for email code so I can email them. Put the code in the subject line and explain your case in a concise manner asking politely to be considered for any cancelled interview appointment (assuming you can make it into London on a very short notice). You'll receive a standard email from them saying it takes 3-4 days to process the email. I got the response next day. And they were very obliging and moved my interview date forward by 2 weeks. And I still didn't make my wedding since there was a glitch in their visa printing service taking them over 10 days to get it to me. You can only push them so far but it's worth a try.

    Good luck.

  6. Most people from the UK don't need a tourist visa to travel to USA so most of us are unfamiliar with the procedures required to obtain one and the time lines involved.

You can contact the Embassy direct (phone number is somewhere on their webpage but be aware it's a very expensive line.) If you want to email them, you'll need a special email code that you need to obtain by phoning the Embassy number (sorry I can't remember them any longer). Put the code they give you in the subject line and explain your dilemma. They'll get back to you within a week.

Although, I have to say 4 months seems to me plenty of time to get the visa.

    Good luck.

  7. Hi everyone,

I have a very complicated problem. and i am very anxious about this. I want to know if will it be an issue if you came here on a tourist visa remarried a USC after 2 years of being divorced. A divorce decree was granted yet NO final annulmet yet in the philippines.

My ex husband and i got married in the phillippines. We were both filipino citizen at that time. Yet when he filed the DIVORCE DECREE he was already an american citizen , I remain filipino citizen up to date. DIVORCE was GRANTED here in the USA. My ex-husband shortly after 3 months DIVORCE was granted, petitioned another filipina girl through fiance visa. And they are currently together and married here in the US now with kids.

I filed my annulment case in the Philippines and still in progress. I came here on a tourist visa and got married last june 7, 2009 and now living with my USC husband as we are waiting for the AOS approval. As we file for the AOS,we put the evidence----- AUTHENTICATED DIVORCE DECREE by the consulate General of the Philippines in Hawaii .

ARGUMENT 1: Divorce not accepted in the pHilippines

    My question is:

Since the annulment case is still in progress in the philippines BUT the divorce decree proves the legality of marriage, WILL IT AFFECT OUR AOS PETITION?

My goodness seven_zai, your situation certainly doesn't seem very easy at all. Unfortunately I can't give you an answer to your question but can suggest you post this to the wider AOS forum. It's more likely that somebody there with lot more knowledge might be able to answer you. Had you come to USA on K-1, you wouldn't need to worry as that question would have been dealt with before or on the interview. But on tourist visa? I really don't know. Although, if your ex managed to get married to a philippina girl (I assume one who was not here on a tourist visa), maybe you won't have any problems either. Your other option is to ask a lawyer. But try the wider VJ community first.

CONGRATS to all new NOA and biometric appointments! It's nice to see things moving along...

All of you who are still waiting for NOA, maybe Chicago office is suffering from stuff shortage due to summer holidays?! It'll be in your mail box soon. Try not to worry. Easier said than done though :-).

  8. Congrats Shaz!!! It's so nice to see things moving, isn't it?

I just realised that my bio appointment is exactly to the day since we submitted our I-129F. Full circle. :-)

Nice to see so many people joining us as August files. Congrats to all who got their NOA letters and or bio letters already and for everybody else, I hope your NOA letters arrive soon.

    Best of luck everybody.

Just got all my 3 moa's today a lot quicker than I expected them as tyhey were only received at Chicago on the 5th, now I have to wait for my biometrics appointment

Hope this is a good sign

  9. Congrats Hannah+Vito on the interview date! Sounds good to me but since I'm clueless about questions you've asked, I'll leave the comments for some more knowledgeable people than I am. You are almost there!!!

I have a question about biometrics - can anybody do an early walk-in or do only certain USCIS offices offer that service? I just got my notice for the appointment on the 2nd September but since I have nothing better to do, I was wondering if I can just walk in (heck of a long walk but it might be worth it ;-))?

  10. Ooops, there seems to be two August 2009 AOS threads! The other one is misspelt and is named AUSUST so there should be a merge somewhere.

I got my NOA today but it was dated 3rd August.

    Good luck everybody.

Oh, just ignore me. I just realised your thread is AOS from work , student and other visas. I was K-1 and the other thread is for K-1 / K-3 people. Stupid :bonk: No excuses :-).

  11. yeh i know i am a bit of a whiner sometimes  sorry. I guess i am worse at the mo cos i haven't been quite well for a while and its starting to get on me whick a bit

I know what you mean about the names being straightening though, i keep forgetting which name i am supposed to be signing on things.

Oooh, so sorry you are not feeling well. Get better soon. (F)

I got so excited half an hour ago because the USCIS letter finally arrived and with it my NOA dated 3rd August. Yeay!! Now the waiting game begins all over again. But at least the things are moving in the right direction.

Good way to start the weekend. Have a good one everybody.

  12. Hannah, so sorry you feel the things are not going according to your plans but at least you are together and you have the SSN card. ;-) Things could be worse. Everything here is on my maiden name as I can't get the SS card until I get EAD so he ordered a second card in my name for just about everything. It will be a major hassle getting everything changed again. Even the medical insurance card is in my maiden name as are all my records at various doctors :-). Frustrating as hell but very little I can do about it now. Similar boats... (how far off shore are we though?). ;-)

Hope your day gets better. (F) Have you considered enrolling in kickboxing class? :P

well my hobgoblin ale and steak pie with chips went a bit wrong... well the most part it was lush but the puff pastry went ohhh so wrong  , we had to open our two new joint bank accounts with my maiden name because the marriage certificate and post to this address in my married name wasn't good enough and i have to go back with state id to change it :crying: ...it was the same pleb at the credit union who on the phone said we only needed my ssn with address and passport and then turned us around because he wanted to see our marriage certificate which would prove proof of address and name change. yup that's right second attempt with what he asked for and still not good enough. they wouldn't let me have a visa card with one opf those small limits where you put money down in advance because they are not helping people establish credit in this economy anymore cos they are too small an institution.

and still no update aos or my other problem so I don't feel like i am progressing much on getting things done right today. getting things done yes but right no

oh what a day... oh well i got a used ball from the dodgers game we went to last night so that was fun, never been to a baseball game before.

hope other people are having a good night.

  13. Thank you so much Tanya i really appreciate it .

but she was not my fiancee LOL.

''Trina and Mohamed '' thats my fiancee Id . I sent an Email to the embassy to ask them about my status and they sent me an Email back asked me to send them my passport.

They sent the same Email to many people today .they even sent to it to a woman and they asked her to tell her husband to send his passport and guess what?!!! they already have it .

I called DOS to make sure and they said I'm still under AP.

anyway I'm going to send my passport on Saturday and i hope it will be a false hope . and they really want my passport to issue the visa .

very good idea my fiancee lives in NC can we join ?

Oops, so sorry I forgot your fiance's name and the mix up. Don't despair just because lot of people got that email today... maybe they are finally pulling that finger out from where they have been sitting on :-). The change is in the air

How long can an average AP be for Cairo? Surely not as long as the I-129F approval?! Enough is enough.

Of course you can join the meet up! You were September filer, right? All are welcome. And I would be bringing kosher meat :-).
