  1. I heard that circuit city is closing out so, if you are trying to save money. they are on sale.... circuit city almost has the same things that best buy has..

doesn't really matter what type of computer you have..I mean I can have a simple desktop with 512MB only..hehehe..

It depends,..as long as you know how to use it... I have a TOSHIBA with a 3GB memory..it's not an apple or MAC but it is running on UBUNTU...heheheh.. I am satisfied with that..I am planning on upgrading it though when I have the budget for it.. Ask me anything...hehehehe...

i saw some great deals from best buy... and i am eyeing on the following...can anyone give me their thoughts about these laptops?

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/con...ops_great_deals

the best buy website is not working today so i cant paste the link...but anyway is this a good deal guys?

  2. hi,..

this may help..since you said you just like a computer which will serve you for chatting, e-mail, webcam, mic.. mp3's or i-tunes download..and downloading from cd's.... and you have a budget of $400-500.... simple... get a DELL inspiron Mini laptop...this, you can custumize meaning adding additinal memory to your pc.. you might want to get the simple Windows XP since Ubuntu is for developers and programmmers.....Mini's are in nowadays especially for women..you can just bring it everywhere you go especially when you are a tech savvvvvyyy...like me..

This has great specks... I trully recommenD THIS..

take it from a WOMAN ENGINEER.........me..

sorry but to tell you this but cd's are (outdated) faceoff nowadays,,.you can actually download everything online.... to review for your NCLEX.. asks for website where you can download the tutorials you can review for..you can actually purchase this online..

To keep your computer from crashing..make sure you got anti-virus protection on like AVG or MCAfee.

and it is always good to have a back up-memory like a Storage SDHC Flashmemory card.. that way when you need to change your OS or reformat.. you got everything stored.... or to make it simple..have a simple USB (Universal Serial Hub) that you can connect to your USB port...

    Hope that helps...

hi everyone, my computer crashed on me. i am so pissed...all my files are gone including our chat logs, my personal lists, esp the ones i made for our I 130 journey =( ...and it would probably cost 200$ to have to fixed. i guess its better for me to get a laptop instead...my budget is between 400 - 500$, i dont want an acer...maybe a compaq, dell or toshiba? can anyone help me?

    i use it mainly for:

email, checking status of our case, chatting with hubby (already have webcam and mic), and i need to reinstall my review cds again for my exam, and i probably will lay off the downloading of music online for now, that might have caused it to crash!

    please help

  3. hi, really, I hope so..after my husband's interview he was given the 221g to submit additional requirements..and he also lives in pangasinan...i sure hope he gets his visa soon when he pass the additional documents next week...Lord help us!!!!....based on your experience... Thanks for your post..it's comforting :)

I can honestly say that Air21 is a very good and professional delivery service within the Philippines. We got regular text messages from them letting us know that our visa was on its way. And its only been 6 working days since my fiancee left the USEM knowing our visa would be sent. And she lives up in northern Pangasinan. So that is far from Manila, and its still got there in 6 business days.

Just for some info, we had to go back and provide some extra documents, so we did not get a tracking# but the embassy did tell us that the visa would be there in 5-10 business days, and they were correct. But you dont get a pink slip if you have to come back and return with more documents. That is the only difference.

  4. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! :) pray for us din ha.. my husband has to give additional reqrments 221g. Thanks!! god bless :)

    Good luck and take care..

i came in here in the US last 2006 on a K-1 visa, it was a quit a journey for me.

i thought my husband loved me, but started cheating on me, I'm Asian, his black.i was

jobless for almost 8 mts, bec papers was pending with immigration, he started cheating,

spending nights on another womans house/apartment.

when i started working last Sept of 07, i did not have a

drivers license back then, so he would pick me and bring me to work, he said he is aggrevated

of the situation that i dont drive, HE takes my money and just leave me $100-

his reason, i have to contribute to household bills.

but came to found out, he paid his other womans apartment (saw the bank statement), he would

talk to his other woman infront me.. He would tell me that he was just forced to marry me bec he dont

want me to go back to my country.. that i am only his immigration wife.

of all the things he said to me, i sucked it all up. i prayed every night that he will change.

as time passed, he still gets my money

last MAY2008, i obtain a drivers license and a family member helped me co-sign a car.

and in snap, he stopped seeing the girl--

he still gets 300 out of my paycheck until now

now just tonight, when he got home, he acted strange, packed his weekend bag, left without saying a word.

seems like he is doing the same thing over again,

i am tired, i love him but i deserve to be treated better..

and i just filed my petition to remove conditions on Residence

  10. wait, please correct me if I'm wrong..from what i know.... I-864 is for the sponsor and the I-864A is for the co-sponsors....

my parents both co sponsered my husband and they used the I-864, it has a box to check if you re the co sponser on the form and just fill it out accordingly. The co sponser has to count every1 that they support. So to answer your question, yes, the co sponser has to support 125% above poverty line for himself, his wife and the immigrant, fyi, assets help if you iclude them, copies of car titles and maybe life insurance, mortgages showing how much you paid on the house .... also showing that you own the house,,, it all helps
  11. woow..congratulations!!! on your interview even when your husband was laid off you were still approved..god is good.. please pray for us..my husband got his interview and has to go back to USEM to submit additional requirements.... They want my I-864 with original signatures as well as for the co-sponsors. hum, this was sent to NVC..I know they are looking for the 2008 Income tax returns..>>>>he was also asked to submit an NBI with different spelling of his middle name even though everything on his NBI was spelled right..hum...>>>>

they said when he submits these additional docus everything will b ok..

Please pray for us..you are very lucky!!!!

Hello, everyone! I posted this earlier in the US Embassy and Consulate General Discussion, but I think it's more appropriate to post this here. I'm hoping someone deletes that other post...

Anyway, after some 500 and so days, my son and I finally got approved with our immgrant visas, and I couldn't be happier!

Here's pretty much everything that happened earlier during our interview:

5:30 am - My husband, my son and I arrived at the USEM. We were scheduled at 6:30am. There were probably about 20 or so people ahead of us who were already queud in the waiting area when we finally went through the security guard who had to verify our appointment in his list.

6:00am - The USEM employees began allowing people to enter the building. We went through the routinary inspection, walked to the immigration visa unit and were told to sit and wait to get our ticket number.

7:00am - My son and I were called to Window 16 for fingerprint scanning. I was told my son didn't have to go through it, and when I was done, we were told to sit again and wait for our number to be called for the pre-screening

7:30am - We were called to Window 19. I had a male pre-screener. He was really kind and polite. He asked me to fill out some parts in our DS-230 and to sign that portion of the DS-230 Part 2 that was left blank. He asked me if my son was born out of wedlock and if I was ever married to my son's father, and I said no. He asked if I ever submitted a CENMAR and I said no, however I told him I had one with me and he asked for it. He asked me who my husband is, where we met, when we first met, how many times he's visited, when his last visit was. He also asked what my husband did for a living, and I told him he's currently unemployed. He started going through our I-864s and he said it wasn't a problem, since we have a joint sponsor.

While the pre-screener was flipping through the I-864 we sent to the NVC, he asked me who the joint sponsor was and my relationship with them. However, my joint sponsor failed to submit a more recent income tax return. He asked me for some attachments, and I said we don't have any. I told him that we have another joint sponsor, and I then presented everything to him, together with the copies of the 2007 income tax, W2 from 2007, and the form I-864A (since taxes were filed together). He said that my second joint sponsor's documents were sufficient. He also asked if they filled out for my son, and I said yes. He went through them once again, and then told me that my second joint sponsor's stuff was what he was going to file for the final interview instead.

The whole time my son was just standing next to me. The only thing the pre-screener asked my 13 year old son was his birth date.

Finally he asked for our family photos (I gave him about 80 prints!), greeting cards, and some remittance receipts. And then he asked if we have ever been to the United States or if this was the first time for us to travel there. Then he told us to go back to our seats and to wait for the final interview with the consul officer.

8:30am - after one hour of waiting, we were finally called to Window 32 for our final interview with the consul officer. He was this middle-aged, white guy. He was wearing eyeglasses. He greeted me and my son, told us to sit, and asked me to take the oath.

He was pleasant, however, he had a terrible cough. He was coughing non-stop on his head set, and it was really loud! I could tell he was having a hard time, his nose was stuffy and he would cough like every 5-10 seconds. Poor guy. There were moments of silence as he would go through our stuff and type on his computer, and then he would cough again.

So, anyway. He asked the same things the pre-screener asked. Further, he asked about the other jobs my husband had before he became unemployed, why he's unemployed, about my husband's disability, our plans when we get to the United States, and where we plan to stay. He asked how my husband supports us if he's unemployed, and I told him through my husband's SSA payments. He asked if I knew how much he was getting and I told him.

After all that questioning, he went through our photos briefly, and began typing some more stuff on the computer. I was kind of worried because he wasn't saying anything at all. He then returned the photos, greeting cards, and remittance receipts back to me. Finally, with these two huge stamps, he stamped on our stuff and said, "This is it, ma'am. I have approved your visas." And I was like, "Really?! Thank you very much, sir!" He told us to sit again outside and to wait for further instructions for the releasing and paying for the visa delivery fee. He wished me and my son good luck on our move to the United States and with getting employed there.

I think we were in the cubicle for about 30 minutes. I bet we would have been done a lot sooner, but the consul officer's cough kept interrupting us. He had to stop a couple of times with what he was doing because he just couldn't stop coughing! I felt bad for him. And it sounded like he had asthma.

After about ten minutes, we were called to the releasing window. This lady handed me our appoinment letter and stapled two pink slips on them. She told us to pay for our visa delivery fee and to go home and wait. I asked what the pink slip meant, and she said she's not authorized to disclose that kind of information :-P

9:30am - Paid our visa delivery fees, and we were done like a champ!

So, now we wait some more. But at least the difficult part is over. I want to thank everyone here in VJ for all your help, especially to edp333, ryandgracey, and pretty_wahine09. My husband and I couldn't have done it without everyone's input and knowledge.

Btw, goodluck to pretty_wahine09 on your interview later :-)

  12. Tell me about it..I've beeeeen sleepless too... huh,..my husband got 221g too and on his checklist of additional docus include the NBI also he has to submit to USEM... they want his full name but different middle name spelling....This is crazy you know..I thought it doesn't make sense at all... but he will b receiving his NBI on March17 pa.. hay,..

Good luck..I hope you get all your NBI with different names relating to your name spelling..

    God Bless;)

I can't sleep at all. Im worried of my NBI clearance I submitted last week . It required me to submit it using my ex hubby family name ..

example: GRACE Bastatas MANDULOG( single), my ex family name MERCADO. The consul put there in 221g aka GRACE M. MERCADO.Now, I check again my NBI tonight I have seen something..it is written as

AKA: MANDULOG DE MERCADO GRACE y BASTATAS

Should it be MERCADO GRACE MANDULOG right? I asked the NBI employee in MANILA and in our city to verify it but he said it is ok.My last NBI I submitted in my interview was MANDULOG GRACE y BASTATAS.

Please enlighten my mind on this thing. I am so worried now. Do I have to get another NBI in my area ????I plan to fly back to Manila to submit it again in USEM since I made photocopies of the forms (221g) and the blue forms I filled up last time.

Thank you VJ family for any information you can share.

  13. Wow..you wouldn't want what happened to our interview..ok, its best if he sends you w-2s for 2208 and paystubs 2008..good luck..please pray for us, my husband just had his interview and he needed to submitt additional requirements NBI n I-864 after submitting all will b well..thank you..good luck

I'm supposed to be going in tomorrow and my husband hasn't filed this year yet because he was waiting on s couple of forms which took forever in the mail, so 2007 is what we'll use. (We had submitted three years' worth before...)
  14. hi,sure i believe in sharing..i wish all good luck on their interview..

he had to submit another NBI because there are lots of people with the same full name as him...he had to submit another with a different spelling as his middle name but same full name... He had to resubmit I-864 with original signatures meaning ballpen penmanship no xerox...that is what i am thinking why because it is already at nvc.. we had come through the Tax season, how unfortunate..

but everything will b ok when he submits those docus at USEM hopefully he will b issued a visa..

Good luck on your interview..God bless..

My husband just finished his interview yesterday march 4th.. at the USEM..person asked him the regular interview questions..Then, they told him to come back, They gave him FORMS TO FILL-UP. He has to submit another NBI CLEARANCE with a different spelled Middle name same as his name, and Submitt another AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT I-864..and they told him to go to Window 17 n 24 when he gets back to USEM...

I already sent him the new I-864(Affidavit of Support) and he will receive it next week.

He will be getting another of NBI CLEARANCE next week also..

Did anyone experience this on their interview?

I am just wondering what will happen next?

Do I have to sched another interview for him?

    Any advice:(

Hi, Is his nbi has mispelled name? let us know why they want new nbi.

Did you meet the poverty guideline? Why do they want new I-864. What income tax return you submitted. Your experienced help others here. Thanks for sharing and good luck on your visa. Just pass what they want and you should be getting yoru visa soon after submission.

  15. HI..I am sorry to know that you had to take a sputum test and cancel your original and wait for 2months..but don't worry, I know, huh..wish the day goes by faster though..so hard to wait..

Its best if he sends you all the necessary documents.. yup, you have to show recent pay stubs as well as affidavit

of support.. good luck n god bless

Just wanna know... why he needs to submit again new I-184?

Supposed to be I should have my interview on March 18, but canceled because of sputum test. Anyway, I just finish it and will wait for 2 months. I am worried that I might need new affidavit of support because my fiance send it to me around end of January. Anyway, I will also show his recent pay stubs on the interview.

  16. Thank you..I hope it works out well,.he said he filled up a form for Air-21 already but he has to pay during the time he receives his visa..

wow,.I was thinking worst,..thanks for the comfort.. This is not bad after all..

no, there isnt any need to reschedule an interview for your hubby.

if the consul just asked him to furnish new set of documents, he just have to come back to USEM once he gets them all and submit it directly to the specified windows (i think its 17 coz this was where i submitted a document they asked from me).

no worries, he just needs to bring back the documents once he has it.

just make sure he labels it well and tell the person-in-charge his case number so it wont get mixed up with other documents they have in there that are still stack in piles! hahaha..

good luck to you guys :-)

  19. Hi, thank youfor your response..This will be a big help for my husband's interview preparation..

wow. I looked at the link and it looks like an A+ to me!! thank you:)

    ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

here is the link for the package my wife put together for her interview. It is more than is needed but just to give you an idea of what to include.

  20. Hello,

Thanks :) for all who responded to my question..I think my husband will just leave it at a hotel...Hum interesting how people make business holding cell phones outside the USEM, I heard of those though,.it seems risky..I think I will advise him to take his sim card and then leave the crappy cel in the hotel..hehehe..:)

I am soo exited!!!! Thanks for your answers:) :) :)

    Thanks..

Hey girl. You're husband can't bring his cell phone with him. There are people standing outside the embassy to hold his cell phone for him for a fee (last i heard it was 200 pesos). Probably at other embassies they will let you bring cell phones. But at the USEM, they won't allow it. But they do let US citizens bring their cell phones. I was able to bring mine in a couple of months ago. Chat with you soon girl!
  21. I have been told by others who went for their interview at USEM (u.s. embassy manila) that they won't allow cell fone inside the embassy and the guards won't accept it either..my husband will be going to his interview next week,.and he will be traveling alone, no one to hold his cell while he is there..

Is this true? that no guard inside will accept and let them leave the cell fone inside the vicinity of USEM?

    please let meknow? thanks:)
