  1. You really have been thinking about this. I meant this topic as something a little fun but you make some good points.

I was having fun. The agencies are all on one list in alphabetical order - just took a few minutes. NOTE: You're wrong to slip that afro joke in with my post though LOL (only because I didn't think of it first - dam)

    Critical government activity:

Federal Interagency Committee for the Management of Noxious and Exotic Weeds

    Man that's gotta stay open!

  2. You're delusional.

This country has been blowing your theory out of the water for 230 years and now its suddenly a problem because Fox says so? The country is shut down because of Republican's, that's the bottom line. Currently they are hijacked by the tea party...those are facts. They have no choice but to raise the debt ceiling. If they do not raise it the economy will collapse and implode. That again is another fact. Wanting to see if that happens is not why they were elected.

Yes, they are doing so much for the country right now by not doing anything. Keep believing your fantasy.

LOL tax, borrow, and spend was a problem in the 90's (yes, before Fox News, do you remember?) and it is a problem now. The government is shut down because the president, who was elected in part because he promised to rein in spending, especially on frivolous wars, reneged on his promise. So his majority congress was voted out for the same dam reason. The government is shut down because it spends too much and borrows too much and the economy cannot sustain that.

25% of the government's income goes to paying interest on the debt. THAT is why there is no money to fund programs. I assume you can read. I don't necessarily pay attention to Fox News but I do pay attention to the CBO. The CBO explains it nicely to the terminally stupid who believe that a higher and higher percentage of income should go to pay interest on debt rather than go to pay for what the government is charted to do:

    http://www.cbo.gov/publication/43288

Rising debt also would have other negative consequences beyond those estimated effects on output. It would:

    • Result in higher interest payments on that debt, which would eventually require higher taxes, a reduction in government benefits and services, or some combination of the two.
    • Restrict policymakers’ ability to use tax and spending policies to respond to unexpected challenges, such as economic downturns or financial crises.
    • Increase the probability of a sudden fiscal crisis, during which the government would lose its ability to borrow at affordable rates.

Hopefully you eventually get it. Please review the estimated effects on economic output.

  3. So what is left open?rofl.gif

    hahahahaha

I found a list of HUNDREDS of agencies and departments.

I just closed all the stuff I never heard of doing anything critical or important

NOTE for the record: I'm not all bad. I left the White House funded and re-opened White House tours! See, there's a heart.

Well keeping Obamas Golf course open is priority one

Death benefits for Veterans and Commissary...Not so much

I opened that right the hell back up. Seriously?

  5. <chirp> <chirp> still waiting patiently on the name of that successful debt-living economist

Economists at Goldman Sachs Group Inc., IHS Inc. (IHS) and BNP Paribas SA said they expect the Treasury to husband the tax money it collects to make sure it can meet interest payments on the nation’s debt. Other obligations, from salaries of government workers to payments to defense contractors, would face the ax. The result: $175 billion less in government spending during November alone, said Goldman’s Alec Phillips in Washington.

There will be no default. What there will be is massive, immediate spending cuts - with outflow limited to inflows, just like every individual and business on the planet has to accept. The economy will and has to contract to the level of its actual value, uninflated by the squandering and spending of borrowed money. There should be an approximate GDP reduction by 7-8% or 1 trillion annually, after which things can stabilize. We will take it.

NOTE: Like the above economist, we also expect the treasury to husband the tax money it collects. Just like we are expected to husband the money left over after they take a big chunk of it to squander.

You libs need to tell your elected officials that there will be cuts, one way or another, and the only way out is to sit down and mutually agree to them across the board. We are used to recessions and will ride this one out just like the last 3.

  6. yea my case been completed on the date I have on my signature 07/22, but this whole time no interview and I called nvc and the lady told me my husband wont even.have an intetview for november, and ive been away from my husband a year I left him in october of last year to come here and start things, and I havent seen him since, and you would think well go see him, well the tickets are.not that cheap and.we are.definitly not that rich or have the financial ability to do so like others. so im not going to hange around here for another 3 or 4 months waiting to just get an interview and then possibly another 10 months if my husband ends up in AP after the interview, so im not going to. waist our live waiting for this, the immigration system in this country sucks and not worth dealing with, I wish I wouldve known!!!

After 6 years of marriage and two little ones I will just quietly tell you this: It seems so dam hard and impossible to overcome when it's in front of you and you are apart. A few years from now though you will laugh about it (if you even remember it).

    Whatever you decide good luck.

  7. If you mean that shutting down the government for no reason as moving in the right direction then I think your founding fathers would find you ignorant of the entire purpose of the government...as in to govern. Not governing seems to be what your party is best at and it seems to fill the needs of its base. Why, because they told you so.

But go back to your tea party for your opinion. A party started by "grass root" billionaires and filled with willing lemmings marching you all off the cliff.

I have nothing to do with the tea party nor does our Congressman. The same party shut things down for the same reason in '95/'96 and that had nothing to do with the tea party either. It had much to do with a democratic president, senate, and house raising taxes and spending like hell and they got their hand slapped for it. People who show their concern for uninsured by slapping an 80 billion dollar tax on them are stupid people.

Exponential borrowing and spending cannot be sustained. Take your time digesting this little fact.

  8. All these economist on VJ and none employed in DC. What a waste of talent.

From all I've read about the debt ceiling most say its all political theater and basically BS. It must be raised, it's not a question of will they.

A January 2013 poll of a panel of highly regarded economists found that 84% agreed or strongly agreed that, since Congress already approves spending and taxation, "a separate debt ceiling that has to be increased periodically creates unneeded uncertainty and can potentially lead to worse fiscal outcomes." Only one member of the panel, Luigi Zingales, disagreed with the statement.

LMAO like many companies and unlike DC, my employer has balanced books and a positive cash flow. Companies who don't deservedly get their credit rating downgraded.

Since you're dropping names do you and please name an economist, just one, who himself lives on borrowed money and then let all of us in your talented audience know how that's working out for him.

Look, the pigeon is back. And I didn't throw any bread crumbs.

Look it's Mr "facts and logic", in person, fertilizing another thread on VJ

  9. A peek into colonial America? That has nothing what so ever to do with this country now. The original founders had no intention of letting anyone vote that wasn't rich.

The country needs to evolve and stop looking at the 250 year old frameworks as never changing gospel. Wake the hell up.

"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money." 1835

You wake the hell up. That was true then, and it is still true today. If you believe this country has moved or is moving in the right direction you're as numb as your buddy bigdog.

  10. Except the 2nd amendment. That amendment was written by god almighty...never to be changed.

Glad you accept that. Now go hug your .32 and move on away from that subject

ON the issue of voting rights - a peek into colonial America. The right to vote when this country was founded came with a responsibility to own property and pay taxes.

The basic principle that governed voting in colonial America was that voters should have a “stake in society.” Leading colonists associated democracy with disorder and mob rule, and believed that the vote should be restricted to those who owned property or paid taxes. Only these people, in their view, were committed members of the community and were sufficiently independent to vote. Each of the thirteen colonies required voters either to own a certain amount of land or personal property, or to pay a specified amount in taxes

  11. The President spends only what Congress appropriates. Not a penny more. You know that.

Congress (at least a majority of them) have been given the message not to spend more than they receive and we, much like the daughter's credit card analogy, decline to provide any more on their credit card for them to squander.

It isn't like they go to work, make their own money, and properly manage it. We have to "give" it to them. "Giving" more to them for big new programs is something else we regretfully decline the opportunity to do.

So there we are. It is shut down and will be down and stay down until this gets fixed and we are all in it together, sink or swim. You say it's the conservatives in Congress? This is between us and a bloated, wasteful, out-of-control administration and nobody out here cares a whit how low the stock market falls as long as it stops.

If you want to swim I suggest you get on board with that.

  12. that's not quite fitting. it's more like raising the credit card limit on your teenager's credit card when she maxes out her credit limit every month. what could possibly go wrong?

I believe he said that she is more responsible if her card is maxed out and she raised her own limit in order to make the minimum payment.

But raising the limit to make the minimum payment does not in any increase her debt though and she can do it forever and forever with no limits and no consequences as long as she raises her own limit.

    I LOVE lib....lib....uh liberal logic

  13. This ain't the 1990's. We were not dealing with domestic economic terrorism then. Big difference.

    Horsey_TerrorAlertCruz_091113.jpg

Dude the republicans shut down the government twice in the same year. Were you around? No? I was, and I remember voters tossing scores of democrats out of congress to make that happen. Libs said the exact same things you say here on this board and nothing came of it

OH here's the map of real before and after policy costs for health insurance. Tell us all how much better off we are now.

Double Down: Obamacare Will Increase Avg. Individual-Market Insurance Premiums By 99% For Men, 62% For Women

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2013/09/25/double-down-obamacare-will-increase-avg-individual-market-insurance-premiums-by-99-for-men-62-for-women/

  14. That's an accurate statement. Shows that the President understands the concept while you do not.

I'm gonna try to put into simple terms that even you might be able to grasp:

Q: If I was to have my credit card limit raised right now, how much more would I owe?

    A: Not a penny.

    There, really easy.

If you had to have your credit limit raised right now to make the minimum payment how much would you owe?

I doubt you can overcome the numbness between your ears enough to see the difference

  15. I read the article, what posesses you to even ask that question? I think you like to hear yourself type.

I know what they want and I'm saying this is not a problem that needs fixing. You seem to think it is, or it will be in the future. How do you make that determination? Is voter fraud even a problem now? What makes you think it will be? The gov't never uses foresight, what they do is waste time and money on things that don't need fixing, that goes for both sides.

What about the elderly who might not have proof of their US citizenship? What then?

If only "one or two stragglers" are affected what's the big deal?

  16. That's nothing compared to what libs said in the 90's. But we got 4 years of balanced budgets (and the presidency)

Nobody cares how long non-essential government employees are furloughed. Hopefully they will gum up resumes and find work elsewhere.

It is funny that when libs get cornered they start name-calling and labeling. "Terrorists" indeed! LOL. Those congressmen got sent to Congress to roll back the spending and that's exactly what they are doing. If there was such a groundswell of support for borrowing, spending, and obamacare I guess pelosi's party would still be in charge. There isn't and they aren't so I guess libs either have to cut their borrowing and spending or their little grubby thieving lib hands will just stay tied.

Either way, if it comes to default I dam sure betcha after the smoke clears neither party will be able to buy things with future money again, and overall in the long term THAT is a good thing.

  17. Keep telling yourself that. Fact is that you right wingers have failed and you will continue to fail. You guys are failures.

We are in charge of the House sport. You know, where the budget originates?

Losing the house was a failure. Last time "right-wingers" in the House shut the government down they came out of it with 4 straight years of surplus budgets. That was a win.

This will also be a win.

Endless borrowing and spending cannot be sustained and it's unacceptable policy. It's time you libs learned that. Noticed your lack of comment on the polls. Guess your name calling must mean you know that those polls are true and the more people get into this healthcare thing the fewer support it. You think we will have any consequences when we want a law that over 60% of people want eliminated or changed? Dream on.

  18. Gary actually thinks he's speaking to Obama in his posts. Demanding Obama do this or that and calling him out.

I doubt Obama would bother exerting the energy in extending his middle finger as he drove by Gary at the bus stop. Yet Gary spends every single day thinking that all his many messages are reaching the President. It's so pathetically comical. Like the 30 year old man that still writes Santa.

Face it Gary, nobody really takes your opinion seriously anymore, well except your two or three VJ groupies who parrot your opinions.

I enjoy your man crush on Putin...that's becoming as obsessive as your Obama delusion.

Yet for me it's always entertaining; like a scene from "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest".

I am thinking that maybe we should deal another hand of cards on the table mano.

You and your lib buddies were out of touch on the gun thing and you are out of touch on this one.

  19. sure, sure...

You are starting to get that same panic'd whine that you got when all those gun laws you were sure were on the verge of passing went down the swirling hole. This is an old game and one that we have played and won before.

......positive impacts of the 1995-1996 government shutdown included the balanced-budget deal in 1997 and the first four consecutive balanced budgets since the 1920s. In addition, Gingrich stated that the first re-election of a Republican majority since 1928 was due in part to the Republican Party's hard line on the budget. The Republican Party had a net loss of three seats in the House in the 1996 elections but retained a 227-206 seat majority. In the Senate, Republicans gained two seats.

No amount of whining, crying, threatening all of the horrible things that would happen, or posturing stopped the Republican party from halting unchecked spending and borrowing in the 1990's and your whining words are EXACTLY the same as liberal democrats then. That makes you not really special. It IS entertaining though. rofl.gif

  20. It's past time to shut it down and keep it down until the spending problems get fixed. Passing taxes on healthcare to pay for healthcare is about the stupidest idea ever floated on the planet. The people spoke and changed the majority in Congress and the change in Congress came with orders to fix the mess. This isn't the first time that this needed to be done and the first time it was done we were able to make some real progress on the US budget, spending, and debt.

......positive impacts of the 1995-1996 government shutdown included the balanced-budget deal in 1997 and the first four consecutive balanced budgets since the 1920s. Even though Republicans shouldered the blame for the last shutdown it worked, they won, and there were no consequences from it. Democrats brayed the same yapping threats that they bray today but at the end of the day they lost, and they will also lose this time.

Exponential spending and borrowing cannot be sustained.

  21. rofl.gif Real stories from real people. rofl.gif

You right wingers have been crying wolf and have been caught telling and spreading lies for as long as Obama has been in office. Now you're telling real stories? rofl.gif

And here you're quoting a right wing website with your "facts" without revealing the source.

Obama said costs would go down and they didn't. Costs for existing plans are hiking up before the new system even kicks in.

The listed funding sources are spot on correct and are provided by the CBO. Of course you don't believe them. You, like your fellow liberals, blindly fell for a huge new program and have no clue where it was supposed to be funded. No, the geniuses you elected "funded" the costs of these programs by passing taxes and fees for items that the program itself is supposed to pay for. Now you're foaming at the mouth to insist that the overall costs of medical treatment, after these taxes and fees on medical treatment are imposed, will go down. Hell, the plan has BUDGETED and is counting on $55 billion in "tax penalties from the uninsured" as part of their funding.

How a democrat shows sympathy for "poor uninsured Americans": Impose $55 billion in tax penalties on them

I can't wait until you people hit your borrowing limit and get a .l.. when you ask for more.

Are you going to repeat your claim of my "fairy tales" again?

Do you not believe what I'm posting? Do I have to get documentation to prove it to you? The policy for my wife and son is $335 per month now. January 1st it goes to $506.

Maybe you were referring to someone else.

He's a liberal democrat dude. He doesn't give two shts about you OR your family.

  22. You can have all the determination you want, sport, but you have failed so far and will continue to fail in that effort. You guys are failures all around. laughing.gif

no0pb.gif We haven't even started. Even the unions oppose this law.

Right now only 26% of people believe that this law is a good one, and 12% think it needs to be expanded. 62% believe it should either be overhauled or repealed altogether.

Doesn't really put your views in a good light does it.

Summary: "We guys" haven't even gotten started yet. The enrollment started a week ago and 2/3 of the people who it was supposed to "help" have come to believe that maybe it wasn't such a good idea.

Looks like your optimistic views on this silly program are as out of touch as your optimistic views on new gun laws.

NOTE: Only 26% of those polled identified themselves as Republican.

  23. That is addressing right wing fairy tales that have been circulating for the past couple of years about astronomical health insurance premium increases because of Obamacare. See, your right wing storyline is rapidly falling apart and that get you guys a bit in a panic. That's understandable. It's also quite entertaining. Keep it coming!

What part of an 11% rate increase in our health insurance premium before the "affordable care" program even starts is "quite entertaining" to you? Otherwise don't stupidly mistake panic for a cold hard determination to push this ill-conceived program right off the books sport.

  24. Poster.

Remember this is the U.S. with one of the highest divorce rates. ......

What to do when you get married to someone else later and find out that he cheated or talked with other women?

You have to decide whether or not your relationship is worth it, no one else. It s easier to give up than to work hard. Things can be fixable with two people working at it. If he is not willing to work at it then you have your answer. Don't let other people determine your future because we will not live with your decision, you will.
