  4. I use Custom House to transfer money on a regular basis and have only had one issue but it was resolved quickly. When I was setting up my account they where very friendly and it was straight forward. I have been using them since 2008 and the transactions are the same as before the change to western union.

  5. I just had to share my IR-1 Visa was just approved. :D

Thanks to all the information on this site I arrived at the consulate at 6:45am, I was third in line. The guard opened the door at 7:30 and went in to empty my pockets and go through the metal detector. Was directed to go downstairs and wait till 7:45 when another guard came and took us up in the elevator. I was then called to window 9 when it was my turn. The gentleman at the window was nice and he verified my birth date and the spelling of my name then went through my application and told to have a seat again. He then called me back to take my fingerprints. Then back to the waiting room. I was then called to the interview room booth number 8. We had a nice chat after he gave me the oath that I am telling the truth. He asked about our kids and how we met what I do for a living and was done in no time. I was done with the process and back at my hotel around 9am. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Midtown it was a short 7 min walk to the consulate.

  6. what about if you are from BC but have to go to Montreal because we are filing a CR-!...can I call to have my medical in Montreal?? I am not fluent in French whatsoever!!!!

What is the time line between the two??

Can i have a medical in Vancouver like a week prior to the interview??? Do they make allowances for things like that???

    Tangie

You can have your medical in Vancouver before your interview the only thing to remember is that Dr. Morgan only does them on Wednesdays. The results are ready same day though. I had my medical Oct. 29 and am traveling to Montreal Nov. 4 and there where several others that where heading to Montreal soon.

  7. Had my medical done today in Vancouver. Very easy and painless (except for the wallet). Got there at 6:15am, I was 3rd in line and was done around 8:30am. Medicals are done on Wednesdays only and require you to make an appointment. On your appointment day they are done on a first come basis so the earlier you get there the earlier you will be done(they open at 6:30am). Blood test and X-ray are all done in the same building and on the same floor. everyone was very professional and nice. Results where ready same day and had to be picked up at 2pm.

Next step Montreal on Nov. 5. :D

  8. Thanks everyone! I'm still bummed out about no doctors in SK! I would love to go to Calgary to get it done being that I have family there, and a friend I haven't seen in a while but that means one more trip on top of going to Vancouver for an interview! It really depends on what season it is I guess! I don't want to be wandering around Vancouver by myself  How much do the doctors charge? Calgary vs. Vancouver? Anyways thanks for your help!

The Medical in Vancouver is only on Wednesdays and results are ready same day at 2pm.

  9. nothing dumb about your questions.

K-3 is actually almost twice as much as the CR-1 after all the work permits and adjustments of status are done. CR-1 takes longer but it is cheaper.

Yes, all immigrant visas go through montreal.

You can visit, but you have to bring substantial ties to Canada to show that you intend to go back there. Traveling to the US as a visitor and then filing immigration paperwork is illegal.

again......twice as much, but the flight from Vancouver return to montreal and hotel, plus his flight from seattle return could very well equal that difference correct???

When going for the interview in Montreal your husband does not have to attend.

I am going to Montreal Nov.5 and got a flight from Vancouver via west jet for 500 return including taxes.

  10. I got my Interview date. Nov 5, 2008. Had case completed Aug 28.

I would like to say thank-you to everyone on this site. While I have not posted a lot of questions I have read the forums and found lots of good information that has aided in the process.

  11. I am considering renting the truck in Bellingham and driving back to Vancouver to load it. The cost of renting a Peske truck in the US is about half the cost of renting a Uhaul here in Canada. Has anyone done this before?
