Parents can buy through the marketplace.

It is amazing how many people bringing Parents go very silent when this issue comes up.

That may be true but here is the caveat:

'While lawful immigrants qualify for ACA subsidies, they'll be stuck in a catch-22 because subsidized coverage does not qualify as insurance under the proclamation,' tweeted Larry Leavitt, executive vice president for health policy at Kaiser Family Foundation, a health care policy think tank."

In other words, those using the marketplace should be very careful with their selections.

  2. I went through the process some years back and adding my spouse to my employer's insurance was an obvious thing to do. You already have to meet the income guidelines to be approved. However where I can see this becoming a problem is not with spouses but parents. Most employer-based insurance plans do not allow you to add your parents. They also are not eligible for eligible for Medicare since they have not paid into the system. Since the marketplace will also be closed off,  this means the only option for those wanting to sponsor parents is a direct purchase from an insurance carrier. It could also mean a short-term plan depending on the time of year. Definitely something to consider depending on costs and situation.

  3. I submitted an application for 2 persons, my spouse and an under 18 child of my spouse.

I also submitted fee of $355 each in the form of 2 separate checks, but only one has been cashed so far.

    Is this right?

I thought it was $355 for each application, should I just consider myself lucky and keep quiet because I only had to pay once?

I wish I could tell you otherwise but I wouldn't consider that lucky. You were correct in sending the $355 for each I130 because each petition requires that fee. Not sure why only one has cleared when you sent them together but I'd say the other one should clear anytime. If it doesn't, I suggest getting on the phone because it will probably only delay your case and I know you don't want that.

  4. Apostilles are not automatically included with those documents in Honduras or anywhere that I know of. I had to request apostilles in the U.S. for my documents to be accepted for my Honduran marriage. Your mother-in-law retrieving the documents should not be a problem. However, I should warn you that there are two different types of Honduran documents. A short form and a long form or forma literal. I recently learned a hard lesson when I received an RFE from the NVC over our marriage certificate and my wife's birth certificate. The U.S. Embassy requires the long form so my wife had to re-request these documents and fedex them to me a.s.a.p.

Also, in addition to the police certificate your wife will need from Costa Rica, the Honduran police certificate must come from the main DGIC office in Tegucigalpa. There is a regional office in San Pedro Sula and some other local offices but Tegucigalpa has the complete records for the country. I mention this because of the current political situation and now is not really the best time to go. However, when your mother-in-law does go, she will need a copy of your wife's identification, letter of authorization and letter of request. I believe that only applies to the police certificate. As for the apostilles, you may want to have your wife or mother-in-law contact the Registro Nacional de las Personas or www.rnp.hn.

Hope this helps and good luck on your journey

  5. They should definitely have your package especially if you sent it express mail like most people. It's a good chance that if the money order has not been deposited, it will be by Monday 9/28. Although it doesn't matter, I personally used a post office money order. It's been just over a week so you should be receiving the NOA in the coming week. Congratulations and welcome to the game.

  6. Not sure if you got your answer yet but immigrant visas are not affected and family-based visas like CR-1 are considered immigrant. All non-relative based visas like student, tourist and worker visas are suspended. I know this for a fact because I'm in a similar boat and I made sure to call the embassy in Tegucigalpa the day after the announcement. Unless something else changes, the U.S. will continue to issue valid visas to relatives.

  7. The woman told the court he had broken his promise to marry her and forced her into prostitution and beat her.

Assuming her statement to be true and not just an excuse to try and validate her actions, she should have left him. Either way, it takes a sick mind to sexually mutilate someone. Still her actions are disgusting.

It takes just as sick a mind to force a woman into prostitution and beat her.

Exactly why I said "if" her statement was true. She may be a victim that should have gotten help from the police or she may be lying through her teeth in an attempt to save herself. Unfortunately, I've seen a number of these stories that had nothing to do with abuse and everything to do with a scorn woman wanting revenge for infidelity. If that's the case here, then she deserves no sympathy.

  9. Hey...me tooo :star: do you know if there is a big difference in timeframe once it reaches embassy in honduras, between the 129f and 130? We are married already...we married in Honduras. which route to go? is there a big difference in time...congrats, im very happy...for us both and pray that all the others will quickly follow....God is good

I'm not sure about a timeframe difference between 129f & 130. I-130 used to take forever so the 129f was created. However, now I hear they are both processed around the same time. I guess I can understand that as they are both listed as family based visas on the US Embassy site for Honduras. Hopefully, we will all have happy endings very soon. Good Luck

  10. I almost fell out of my chair today when I saw the NOA2 in my email. I could not be happier (unless this whole thing was over). However, it's a step in the right direction with no RFE! :) I also think this is a good sign that USCIS is getting on track. The site says 5 months but my wait was nearly 4. It was tough being patient and still is but at least it's progress. Anyway good luck to those of you still waiting to pass the first step.

    Keep the faith

  12. 1. G-325A (Beneficiary) you will file this with i-130 this first part this when you will send to USCIS :) but DS230 and DS3032 this will be scound part NVC .... and bout NVC you have to be ready so you will done this part fast get your tax papers all papers translations to english so when then ask you for enything you will not have to wait to get so get all your papers in case and be ready ... JUST in the first you have to file and wait your approved this will be between 5 months to 8 months after apply ... good luck and best wishes

Yes, I'm aware that the G-325A goes with the I-130 but I just thought it would be a good idea to have every document that needs a signature with me. Thanks for the assistance. I will definite have all legal documents prepared ahead of time.

  13. Hello to all. This is my first post here and I've learned a great deal from the guides but I still have a few questions. I'm getting married on January 3 and plan on applying for the CR-1 and possibly the K-3 if it will speed things up. Anyway, I feel pretty comfortable with the whole process up until the I-130 is approved. I was thinking of saving time by taking all of the documents that my soon to be wife needs to sign with me so we can take care of it after the wedding. Below is the list I came up with so far. Can someone let me know if this is a pretty good idea and also tell me if I'm missing anything?

    1. G-325A (Beneficiary)

    2. DS-230

    3. DS-3032

My other question is about the NVC. This is probably a silly question but the flowchart says that there a two independent tracks. However, am I correct in thinking both tracks need to be completed before the NVC process is complete? Thanks in advance for any advice.

    :)
