Apply for Adjustment of Status under her new, married name. The green card will then be issued in her married name. Take the green card, and marriage license, to the Social Security office and get a new Social Security card (with work authorization) in her married name. Use the new Social Security card to get a new Drivers License or State ID card.

Report her marriage to the Philippine Embassy, Consulate office, or Consulate outreach event. If her passport has less than a year or so, just apply for a new one. Or, it is still good for a few years, you can have an addendum page inserted. If you do not get a new passport, then I strongly suggest carrying a copy of your marriage license whenever you travel.

I have a question about my spouse changing her name.

If we get her name changed at social security office so that she has my last name

Her ssn, us driver license etc will have her new name but...

how does this work - if we apply for AOS with her new name her EAD, AP and Green Card would not match the name on her passport?

The form letter just gives the worst case time scenario. We received the same approval letter from the Vermont Service Center last Saturday. On Monday, the new green card arrived in our mailbox. You should have your new card soon.

hi everyone.. can i ask question about the approval latter? pls anyone who can tell me ? the approval later is coming from where? from vermont service center or california service center..... or..... the local application service center ( for example philadelohia or baltimore or etc.. ) and if you guys has approved then what is the approval letter? i got my approval letter today it says to me that you should received your new card WITHIN 60 DAYS.. is it correct? actually i knew that it should be 10 days.. so pls can anybody tell me is there something wrong ??

If you fill in your profile information, people can give you much better answers. If we knew which service center you sent your I-751 too, it would help. We just received our approval notice, but not the card yet, from the Vermont center. We filed in mid January. almost all of the January filers for the California center received their cards last month already.

we recently turned in the application to remove conditions (i-751) for my wife and we got an appointment for her biometrics on August 3, 2012. We attended the appointment and everything went well. My question is.... it's been a little over 2 months... how long does it take to get her RENEWED green card? ... is it 3 months? ... or is that time for some other process? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

We could not sign up for any notifications, since USCIS never entered our information into the customer facing web site. The EAD numbers from both our NOA-1 and ASC appointment letters were never in the system. I looked often. So we just waited patiently. Today, we got the approval letter in our mailbox. We expect the card will arrive in a few weeks.

It is great that VSC seems to be moving again. Analyn will be applying for citizenship in a few months.

Congrats Donald-n-Analyn! Did you sign up for the text messages or just get the letter in the post? I got an update yesterday that my card was already picked up by USPS so should be with me any day now.

When my fiancee and I would visit Manila, I preferred to see the native sights. I figured that my fiancee would have years to see western culture after she moved to America. The only real exception was dinner one night at the Hard Rock in the Glorietta Mall in Makati. My girl didn't really like it that much, it was not her style of food.

Some of the things that we did, and places that we visited, that we both enjoyed:

• Took a bus to Tagaytay and the Taal Volcano.
  
• Shopped in the Divisoria market. It is a huge open air market, but be vigilant for snatchers.
  
• Intramuros and Rizal Park (Lunetta). Be sure to carry bottled water and a "face towel". It is very hot and humid.
  
• The park in the center of the traffic circle in Quezon City.
  
• Baywalk along Roxas Blvd, south of the U.S. Embassy.
  
• The flea market at Greenhills Mall.
  
• Getting around on the LRT and MRT. Often faster than a taxi, because you go over the crowded streets, not through them.
  
• Eating BBQ sticks, fried peanuts, bananacue, fresh fruits, and many other delicious foods from the street vendors.

Every one is correct, you must leave the country. However, what no one has pointed out is that there is nothing to prevent you from marrying someone else, while you are here. Then, that person could file for a spousal visa for you, and you would be able to come back and be with them in about a year. I am not suggesting this as an approach, just mentioning the possibility... Good luck, and sorry that your relationship is not working out.

Is there really a 5 month time frame in which the USCIS must send an RFE or interview notice? I had not heard this anywhere before.

Hi. I agree with AlexandAstrid. I would not be too worried if I have not heard from immigration since your biometrics. My status online (NOA Jan.13) still shows "initial review". This is even after I've done my biometrics AND after being interviewed (in March) and receiving a letter requesting for Additional Evidence (in April). I called uscis a week ago just to inquire if anything has changed and (not surprisingly), they said my application is still being processed and to expect a reply by June 13, exactly 5 months from them receiving my application on Jan. 13. So about your case, I would probably call them if I haven't heard anything by June 20. If it is any consolation, I would actually be feeling better if I was in your position knowing I haven't heard from them as June 20 is getting closer and closer coz that means you've already gone past the dates when they can ask you for an interview or to submit additional documents. Okay then... I am totally lost on this thread. But, it is actually pretty interesting, in an enigmatic kind of way.

As others have already mentioned, any license that you get right now will expire at the end of the 90-day window of the I-94 anyway. At $25 per license in Florida, that is a lot of trouble and expense for such a short lived license. AOS is taking less than 60 days usually. Just wait for the green card, then go back to the BMV.

I would be super grumpy too, if I was far from my former home with no internet. How hard is it to get internet in a house in America? How rare is it to be without in this day and age?

This is a real issue. She will not be allowed out of the airport without at least a Japanese transit visa. I doubt that it is worth going to the trouble for a layover. It would probably be cheaper to get a different flight schedule.

Once when I, a U.S. citizen, was flying to Manila, I had to change planes in Beijing. My incoming flight arrived at the international terminal, but my connecting flight departed from the domestic terminal. The Chinese customs agents were not going to let me out of the international airport terminal without a valid visa to China. I had to request a supervisor, and it took almost 15 minutes for me to get permission to go my connecting gate.

I looked through other similar topics and could not find any specifics about this particular issue. Our K1 was approved last week. My fiancee and our daughter are traveling from Manila to NYC on 5/26. The itinerary includes a 15+ hour layover in Tokyo. I rented a hotel room so they can get some sleep. I'm concerned that immigration may have a rule about beneficiaries entering a country on their way to the U.S. The interviewer asked questions about my fiancee visiting other countries during the interview which leads me to believe they have concern about beneficiaries entering foreign countries prior to entering the U.S.

Does anyone know if this is an issue? Should my fiancee just find the most comfortable bench in the airport for 15 hours to be safe?

In the Removal of Conditions forum, users are constantly quoting and updating a formatted list, like the one below for January filers. This seems like a lot of unnecessary work, and is very error prone with all the formatting. It would be nice if we could just make a link to search the timelines for Lifting entries where the filing date was in a range.

I guess it might be harder to get the VJ member names, as this would probably require a join on the member number.

Is there any way to compose a link to do this?

We received my wife's NOA1 almost a month ago. It was dated Jan. 12. Still no ASC Appointment Notice for biometrics yet.

We called the USCIS hot line, but were told that we had to wait until it had been 30 days since we received the NOA1. It is not a big deal, since she now has the year extension with the NOA1. Still, we are wondering whether there is a problem with our case, or the ASC Appointment Notice just got lost in the mail.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Hello fellow VJ's...anyone who experience filing REMOVAL OF CONDITIONS with dependents? To cut my story short, i have 2 kids, 10 years and 8 years old, we are filing our ROC soon, and just want to ask if I am just going to pay $590 TOTAL..or WILL MY TWO KIDS pay the BIOMETRICS fee of $85 each? PLEASE HELP! THanks so much for ur time..GOd Bless us all..

You will have to pay $760 total. The filing fee of $505, and three biometric fees of $85 each.

Each conditional dependent has to pay the biometric fee, as well as you.

A sponsor should file form I-865. The sponor should file it for themselves. The AR-11 is for an alien to report their change of address.

Oh no!! let me ask u about this. My sister in law who was our co-sponsor when we filed I-130 for my 2 kids bought a house and has new address now and i did not know that i have to file for change of address for my co-sponsor as well. AM i gonna be in trouble for not doing this?

What form should i use if i file change of address for my co-sponsor? is she the one who files or me?

I agree with the two other posters. Transcripts are the way to go, and are actually preferred by USCIS. The IRS will even fax them to you if you call the automated number. But seriously, it only takes a week to get them in the mail after requesting them via the IRS web site.

If you want the transcripts you can order them online for free from the IRS website. Took about a week to get them in the mail. If your sending the actual tax return you need all pages including W2 and any 1099s etc.

My tax return for last year was over 40 pages. Much easier to send the transcripts. You can order them online to be mailed to you and in the time you read this post you can be done with one year, honest.

Wow! There is so much useful information to be found here on VJ . I wish that I would have read this thread sooner though. I thought that I knew exactly what we had to do. When we bought a house and moved in mid 2011, I filed a change of address for my wife online. I did not know that we had to file the AR-11 AND that I had to file the I-865. I had already prepared and sent our I-751 packet this morning. I am going to mail the two address change forms this afternoon.

I did not go overboard on the evidence, since it has been my experience that we have a solid, genuine case, and we have had no questions or issues to date. However, I am hoping that my lack of affidavits will not pose a problem. My included evidence is:

1. Home mortgage in both names, title and signature pages.
   
2. Bank statement in both names, first page with account holders information.
   
3. Health insurance card in both names.
   
4. Tax transcript, joint, 2009
   
5. Tax transcript, joint, 2010
   
6. Birth certificate of first child born Nov. 2009.
   
7. Birth certificate of second child born Feb. 2011.
   

I guess I will find out. I hope that there is no RFE.

CORRECTION:

Non-U.S. Citizens

If you have moved, you need to follow two different steps:

Step 1: File a Form AR-11 (This changes your address in our master database.);

Step 2: If you have a pending case, you must also file a Change of Address online or call our National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283. (This changes your address for the specific application you have submitted.)

Please note that if you are a non-U.S. citizen and you have a pending case, you must complete both steps to make sure that you comply with the regulations and so we can reach you at your correct address.

Hi again! I'm sorry, I posted a correction above - once you have a pending case, your wife MUST file the AR-11 (paper form) AND change her address online to change her address on their master database AND the pending case.
