  5. Analyn should be here near the end of March 2009. Thanks for the link to PhilFest in Tampa. I would love to take her over there for that.

We are in the Melbourne area, also known as the Space Coast. I have not seen too many VJers from this area, but we do have a decent Pinoy store up in Cocoa.

Good luck to everyone on their continuing journeys!

  6. I agree with *Len*, the OP was not asking for relationship or moral advice. It is lovely that everyone wants to give some, but I doubt that he is interested in our opinions on his unique situation.

Seeing as that the original marriage was annulled, he is not really an ex-husband. If the original marriage was entered into fraudulently, then it did not occur. It is kind of like offensive offsides, a 5 yard penalty and play the down over.

As long as the OP can prove a bona-fide relationship with said sister, then I fail to see any reason that he can not successfully sponsor a visa on her behalf. As for the family dynamics, let's leave that to the original poster!

  7. Question 1 - for American men: Did you seek out Filipinas through a dating agency or marriage broker, and if so, why?

Question 2 - for the Filipinas: Did you ever place an ad or set up a profile with any international dating agency or marriage broker, and if so, why?

Question 3 - for the American men: What are the differences (including physical) between your Filipina spouse and your ex-wife?

Question 5 - for the Filipinas: What are the differences (including physical, age) between your kano spouse and your last boyfriend or ex-husband?

    1. Yes (see ramblings below)
    2. Yes (again, it's below)
    3. She is more sensible. She is NOT self-centered and selfish like my ex.
    4. There is no question 4, but if there were, my answer would have been: But of course!
    5. She has not been married before. But I am clearly much larger and whiter than the available pool of filipinos.

I too am kinda surprised at the implied distaste of the dating sites.

Our story is kind of interesting. A good friend of mine who had done way more international traveling than me was engaged to a filipina from Palawan. He kept telling me how sweet she was and how happy he was. I really wasn't interested in starting a long distance relationship, especially of THAT distance. But, he owed me some money and offered to pay for my first month of paid membership to filipinaheart. I honestly thought that this was my ONLY chance at getting anything out of him for awhile, so I agreed and signed up.

It was one the best decisions that I made in my 50 year old life. In that one month I had many filipinas contact me. After one month I had so many contacts that I did not need to renew my membership. Many of the women were mere girls, beautiful young filipinas. But I really doubted their sincerity and didn't really think that we would have much in common. I chatted with a few of the women closer to my age, and Analyn quickly became my favorite. I politely told the others that I had found someone, and began chatting mostly to Analyn. I still have a few other filipina chatmates that I met online, but they all know Ana now, and she knows them too.

Ana was quite honest with me as to why she joined filipinaheart. She was looking for a western husband. Being a college educated professional women in her early thirties, she did not like any of the available men in the small villages of her province. She bought a second hand computer (for a ridiculously high price), and got a dial up connection at her sister's house in the city. She would make the 5 hour bus round trip every weekend to her sister's house to use the internet. She went to this trouble and expense to try and fill a void in her life.

Among other things, I really admire her honesty and straightforwardness. She is also smart, pretty, sexy, and fun. I suppose nothing is perfect, but her only trait that really bothers me is that she is not as spontaneous or daring as I am. She knows this, but to be honest sometimes her reluctance to some of my crazier ideas has proven to be correct, and on those occasions I have thanked her profusely.

I have made two trips of three weeks each in the 28 months that we have been together. I have met all of her family and many of her coworkers and neighbors. I am planning now to be there for her medical and interview, and to stay until she can fly back with me.

Sorry for the long post. But, truth be told, I enjoy telling our story.

  8. The poll needs to look more like this:

    Sex:

    ( ) Male

    ( ) Female

    Role:

    ( ) US Citizen

    ( ) Alien Beneficiary

Have you ever been physically abused by your SO:

    ( ) Yes

    ( ) No

Have you ever been emotionally abused by your SO:

    ( ) Yes

    ( ) No

Have you ever been sexually abused by your SO:

    ( ) Yes

    ( ) No

Maybe??? I have never made a poll either so I an not really sure how they work. All I know for sure is that I am the US male who has never been abused by my SO, so there was no proper place for me to answer!

  9. Guys!!!!!

We just got an email from our congressman telling us we got approved today, January 8!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot tell you how happy we are. Sitting here crying and drinking champagne. There is still no end on the road but we probably made the hardest part!!!

I love you guys and thanks to everyone who prayed and supported us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woohoooo!!! That is great. I keep looking at Igor's list to see how others are doing. I always felt especially bad for y'all, it was kind of like you got left behind.

It sounds like you worked really hard to push things in the right direction.

We are praying for Chad and Hermosila now!!!

  10. I can't see any reason that you would have to go into detail about your whole, admittedly complex, story. My filipina fiancée has not had her interview yet, but from what I have heard they only ask basic questions to make sure that the engagement is sincere. I am assuming that you two have spent enough time together that she will be able to prove that she truly knows and loves you.

Of course none of this will really be important for the I-129F petition. All that is required for the petition is proof that you have met in person at least once within the previous two years. I didn't save any of my boarding passes either. I sent copies of a total of 8 pictures, 4 from each of my two trips to the Philippines, showing us with members of her family. I also copied my passport pages with the entry stamps. In my cover letter, where I listed the contents, I put:

Passport - Donald (showing entry to Philippines)

I figure that it doesn't really matter if I flew or arrived via boat, the passport stamp is better proof of being in the country than a boarding pass anyway. I had no problem getting my petition approved with that proof of meeting in person.

I know you didn't ask for anyone's opinion on your choices, just for the ramifications on your K-1 process. But, it sounds to me like you have considered things carefully and know what you are doing. You are lucky to have each other, I wish you the best of luck!

  11. Hello to all.

We just received our NOA2 this week. My fiancee, Analyn, is from Biliran Island in the Visayas. Her native dialect is Warray, but she speaks most of the Bisayan dialects.

Just wanted to say hello, we just discovered this thread through HappyDancer!

  12. March 7 2008, is the month that they are still working..... But i dont know why they are approving august and sept filer is there are still march filer waiting

Hey guys, hang in there. I got a feeling that your NOA2 will be here any day now. Our NOA1 dates are the same, and I just received the email notice notice this afternoon. Our NOA2 and approval. You will be next! Think positive.

    Ingats!

  13. No news here  yet. I check the USCIS site twice a day. But since some people claim to have received their NOA2 in the mail, while the web site was unchanged, I also eagerly await checking my mailbox each evening when I get home.

Be assured that I will make an announcement and update our timeline as soon as we hear anything.

  14. When entering the NOA1 date in the timeline database, it says "Date I-129F NOA1 (Receipt)", but if you click the help link "finding your NOA date", it shows the issue date on the notice. I had originally entered the date that I received my NOA1 in the mail. Now I am wondering if I am throwing off the statistics.

I realize that 1 week is not a big difference, but I am more curious than anything. So...

Which date should I have put? And, if I used the wrong date, should I change it now?

Thanks in advance for some guidance from some who have been around here longer than I have.

  15. We filed in late June, but did not receive our NOA1 until lid July. We are almost the same time frame as you. Ana is from Biliran Island, not too far from you I think. Where will you be staying when you come to the USA? We will live in Florida.

Let's hope that we will receive our approvals soon now!
