  1. he hasn't file yet..and i think he will file file it joint coz he is getting me ITIN..

really?filing joint cost more than filing seperate?

i will talk to him about it so he can file his 2007 now without waiting 2 months for that ITIN..

but what is the difference of filing joint and seperate?

    what is better?

if you file joint, your income will have to be included in his tax returns. Meaning, likely, that you will have to pay MORE in taxes, depending upon how much income you have. If you have zero income, then there should be no problem.

But withouth that ITIN you CANNOT file joint.

If you do not mind waiting and you have zero income in PI, then you will get a larger return on the taxes by filing joint. Because he will be able to claim you as an exemption. But, since he is already late filing that years return, he likely has accrued pentalties and interest on those late taxes. These will be deducted from what he will get back and if it consumes the entire amount and then some..he will have to pay that back.

Best advice I can offer you...have your hubby see a CPA. Do not have him try this on his own. It could be MUCH worse in the end.

I am not a CPA, but I did get advice on my 2007 returns from my CPA. And followed teh advice of married filing seperately.

You can also look up the tax code rules on the internet for the IRS.

  2. So, looking at the flow chart, I see that both my spouse and I get this form to fill out. We're not using a lawyer so whose address to we put

down to receive correspondence? Does he put down his address for his form and me for mine? Do we use just his?

Thanks, I'm getting to k now how this works a lot better now it's just the tiny questions.

    Thanks a lot,

    lgg

The DS3032 Choice of Agent form is only filled out by the beneficiary. You should put the address where you would like the NVC to send all correspondence and fees related to your petition. They send a copy of the DS3032 to the petitioner. But this just shows what was sent to the beneficiary. Hope this helps!!

Save yourself ALOT of time and have the beneficiary send this form via email to NVC. Look for a template form on this site...fill the blanks using the beneficiairy's information and email it to the given email address. Will save you TONS of time.

  3. You know all that I did(which i am sure everyone else is doing) is be VERY detail oriented. Read the instruction several times and I sent them all they asked for and them some. Even sent 150 photos to USCIS.

My wife did the same with her portion of the proces. Perhaps its related to my wife's career field, which is more likely.

I am a veteran and I even sent a copy of my DD214...don't think that was a facotr, but just maybe the application went across the desk of a veteran.

  4. Thank-you very much. Everyone wants to paint me as a materialistic man-child. I will admit reading my own writing I might feel the same. But I wanted to show that I have done everything I can to contribute and be there for her. And it is less about 1 month than her actions. This is what has caused me to stress. I wanted 0 time, be together as soon as it was possible. Granted I had an ideal of all of us spending Christmas together but is not the crux of the issue. It is her change of attitude and makes me question if she is dedicated to this. I would rather she take all the time if that is necessary for her to figure it out. I can't tell if I'm getting an honest answer from her. I think she would tell me the same response regardless if her feelings are true or not. I'd like to believe they are but I pose my argument with this. Tell me there is not a chance she feels compelled/obligated to tell me she loves me. While I like to believe her, I worry that her judgement might be "clouded" as well because of our child. Getting married to me is a serious thing, a lifetime comittment. I don't need to go messing up our child, her life nor mine by getting into a realtionship that is going to fail.

Wow. This would be a great story about 2 cultures coming together or the problems of 2 cultures coming together. Unfortunately this is real life and not just a story.

My fiance, Cherel, who is filipana happens to agree with "GwizCraig". She feels like the GF should growup. She applied for the VISA, she got approved, she should be ready to go to the States on a moments notice. She thinks that it is ridiculous for the GF to delay this.

I happen to feel badly for the GF in this situation. I imagine that her family is putting an unbearable amount of pressure on her to just stay with them for this one last xmas. She is probably looking for some support and understanding from "GwizCraig". I imagine she is quite scared to move away from the only home she has ever known.

Why don't you just set a firm date after the New Year for her to be here. When she arrives you can set up an xmas tree together, celebrate it on the 25th of January and have a wonderful story to tell your child when he/she is older. (Santa actually came to visit you in the Phils and the States for your 1st Xmas).

I can understand your desire to be with your child for the first xmas, I can understand you not being able to fly over there due to work, but be a man about this. The holidays come every year. You have the rest of your life to be with her and the child. Make her happy. This is about her.

    Bob

Let me throw my two cents in this..if I may.

I would like to defend you on the topic of you missing your child. I too, have a child that I am not with now. Although, this child is not my biological i love her as if she is my own. My wife and I met via the internet, she is from the Philippines, and after a courtship and two trips to PI...we married.

My gorgeous wife has a BEAUTIFUL little girl from a previous relationship(the biological father choose to not be involved). When I fell in love with Grace, I also fell in love with Alec. I am MADLY in love with the both of them. Now to my point....

I have missed out on 5+ years of my daughte's life and it breaks my heart to know that I was not there when she was born.(Grace and I did not know of each other then, of course)...and even now, as we wait for the VISA process...I continue to miss out on her life and get views of her through a webcam. I send her gifts via snail mail and we maintain as best of a relationship together and through her mother as we can. But its just not the same as holding her, playing with her, talking with her...making her kulit. LOL.

I understand your thirst for them. I thirst for the companionship and the love of my wife and child too. You AER NOT a "man-child' for longing to be with them. That is only natural. I can understand your feeling of helplessness..not being able to be there for them...I feel that very often myself. In fact, I can tell by the way you talk abou these things, that you love you child very much. Again, because i feel the same for my daughter and my amazing wife.

I want to be with my wife and child more than ANYTHING on this world. And yes, I would say being a bit selfish to get them here ASAP, even for the holidays is merritted. But the man of the family has to think bigger than himself. As the man of the family, the provider, the male figure....we must sacrifice OF ourselves for the betterment of our families. Think for a moment.."what is best for my family?" If the answer is allowing them to spend one more holiday with their Filipino family..then you have made the best choice/sacrifice for your family, for you wife, for your child..and ultimately for yourself.

Knowing what little I do about Filipino culture(I was lucky enough to spend Christmas of 2007 in Q.C. with them), family gatherings are more than just gathering...this is how(in my observation)many of these families "re-charge". They feed off of the love and respect of each other. Simply put, I don't think they could survive without one another. And, knowing how strong this bond is...YOU must realize that YOUR home, YOUR family, YOU will have to meet that need once they are here. YOU will have to be that "food" for them. They will be in a strange world and presumably; without family or other Filipinos around. So, YOU will have to provide them with the security and love that equals that tight knit family unit that they both are accustomed too. My suggestion is to find your local Fil-Am community, because this will help to bridge that gap between The Philippines and The States. If you are NOT willing to make this type of committment or the afore mentioned sacrifice...I don't see much success for you or them in the future.

I do not agree with other aspects of your point and I do understand how you may be questioning the motives behind her decisions. Though, I dare not claim what they are.

Be the father of this family through the holidays...sacrifice a bit more for the betterment of your family. In the end, I am sure, you will be glad that you did.

Oh and look up "Tampo"...you may be experiencing this and not even realize it.

"What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something -- for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it's made me proud."

i like how people take one little statement and start a whole big thing around it and twist it around to mean something it doesn't...

    Good job.

    McCain

    1) he's not going to pussyfoot around and let more terrorist activity happen

    2) he won't take away my hard earned money and give it to lazy butts that don't want to work

    3) he has morals

    You need HELP!!!

    Please provide some real reasons.

Who let's terroist activity happen? Did Bush? It happen while he was President.

it happen while he was Pres. b/c Clinton ignored foreign policy

    Please validate your comment.

I served in the US Army during the Clinton administartion. I saw how he cut our military by HALF the size that it was.

clinton balanced the budget..how?.....cut Dept. of Defense costs.

This showed he had not interest in foreign relations.

This, in turn, made our military weak and unable to wage in tow major theater of operations. Such as now.

Funny, how a few years back EVERYONE supported striking against Iraq, but not now.

And since this is such an unpoplular war....we cannot get numbers in recruiting; meaning we have to do "backdoor" drafts with our Guard and Reserve units.

i put most of this on the shoulders of Bill Clinton. Yes, we were misled about the WMD and yes, Bush has made some horid decisions...but he was dealing with what Clinton left him.

I never supported it. It hard to support it now..when even SOME of the people fighting don't really know what they are fight for. They are just doing there job.

National Defense HAS to be the priority..Alwasy has to be. Without that, nothing else would matter.

nope, it happened because Bush ignored a memo saying it would happen, based on intelligence that was gathered because of Clinton's good management. Bush KNEW there was a threat, but did not do anything about it.

no disrespect, but you watch too many Michael Moore movies.

  9. Let's look at our recent history...what no one seems to notice.

Bill Clinton's LACK of foreign policy is, in part, why we are in the Middle East now. No one seems to realize this.

Yes, Clinton balanced the budget, but at what cost?!!?

Obama has even LESS foreign ppolicy experience than Clinton did...and less interest in one.

Joe Biden even hinted at this with his "tested in 6 months" remark.

I dont think he was hinting at anything except the fact that there will be some tough choices to be made as president especially under the current mess that has been left behind.

    Sly

Again, another pass for Obama and his crew, his wife, and his spiritual adviser. Why does Obama get a pass from his racist and anti-american association, but Palin gets bashed because of the cost of her wardrobe?

This thread alone has shown two comments giving a pass for Michelle Obama and now Joe biden.

The media bias is incredible and outrageous, for certain.

Obama is not being held accountable for his associations. Not, Obama is NOT a terrorist, but he did hold the advise of one..Bill Ayers. Not matter how long ago that was..it shows his base feeling on American values. Rev. Wright...if a white Rev. would have said that and McCain sat in the church for 20 years he would have been bashed nonstop.

Again, Obama is given excuses and passes...i don't understand why.(no, I really do know why)

  10. Let's look at our recent history...what no one seems to notice.

  11. In keeping with Obama's tendency to focus on the issues and have something hopeful and positive to say, and leave the nasty smearing to the Republicans... I voted this morning for Obama because:

    1. He was right on the Iraq War from the beginning AND had the doo-dads to say so.

    2. I like the changes he is proposing to our tax system. I agree with Balzac... extreme unexplained wealth is suspect.

    3. He has a solid pro-environmental scorecard http://www.lcv.org/obama/obama-lcv-score-and-vote.html and will help us end our addiction to foreign oil in an enviromentally responsible fashion.

    4. I believe he is extremely intelligent, even-tempered, thoughtful, well-educated, and can re-establish the US in the community of nations as a good neighbor, friend, ally, trading partner and overall respected global citizen. I believe the occupant of the White House SHOULD be smarter than the average bear, and if that makes me elitist, TFB.

    5. I think Michelle Obama will make an awesome First Lady, and those two little girls are the cutest things... I love the thought of them running around the White House.

    6. His stands on social issues are much closer to my own (although I would legalize gay marriage).

Those are some of my reasons. There are more, but the OP asked for 3, so I limited myself to 6

its ok my dear.. i just want to know more about these two people.. my husband just got home. He voted for Obama coz he has a good plan to Native Americans.. your respond is good.

Yes, great comments Maya. Also, I am part Native American and he does seem to have good ideas in that aspect as well. I just think he seems like a great man overall. He seems like a great father too. I bet he would not leave his wife if she had an accident and became disfigured like McCain did. I know he is all about respecting his wife and kids. He is a good family oriented man. I know that he will be a good president if he wins. Just hope he will win!

Michelle Obama said that she was not proud to be an American...as a veteran who fought for this country I find that very offensive.

  12. Gave McCain my vote:

    1) and the BIGGEST reason...NEVER ONE EARMARK VOTE...EVER IN PUBLIC SERVICE!!! Meaning he is NOT swayed by the lobbyist

Obama had earmarked money to Rev. Wright...$200,000 worth.

    2) McCain will NOT hestiate to pull the trigger against a foe...I would rather have a President who WOULD NOT hesiate versus one who will.

3)Obama will increase taxes on those making $200,000 or more per year(this would include our employers and how would that affect our jobs and benefits...how many times must I say this)...Thegreatgate is right...started at $300,000..then $250,000 then..$200,000 and then suggestioned $125,000

I could give you many more, but these are my three
