  1. For the American men here who specifically sought out Filipinas, I'm curious if any of them tried dating a Filipina/American here in the States? Is there a difference between finding a spouse fresh off the boat vs. one who's maybe a second generation immigrant? And if you make that distinction, then won't the same Americanization happen to the Filipina spouse you are marrying? Think about it.

Do you mind if you answer your own questions? or it doesn't apply to you? If thats the case how did you meet you wife?

Ronjie: I'm curious. How did you meet your man?

  2. I was actually going to start a topic similar to this.

Since majority of the Filipinas here met their SO thru online dating and used the dating site like Filipina heart.com. I based my impression from the topic . . . how did you met you SO.

I'm pretty curious and I have a couple of questions that I hope you guys don't mind me asking them.

I apologize in advance if you find my questions rude.

    1. for the Filipina women:

Why did you joined Filipina Heart .com or whatever similar dating site? Were you actually looking for a foreigner husband?

For the ladies who fell inlove with their SO regardless of their origin, how did you guys met? If you met thru Filipina dating site and by joining the site were you actually looking for a foreigner SO?

    2. for the Significant other:

Why did you joined Filipina Heart .com or whatever similar dating site? Were you actually looking for a Filipina Wife?

For the the USC who fell inlove with their Filipina regardless of their origin, how did you guys met? If you met thru Filipina dating site and by joining the site were you actually looking for a Filipina wife?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Well lets just say I can drive more aggressive then any jeepney, bus or taxi driver, they move out of my way! I remember we were heading to Monumento and and i squeezed in between a jeepney and a bus...I saw the bus drivers eyes as I came through

he was scared and I was laughing...my wife was screaming at me and hitting me the whole time! God I love it. Here in the sates I drive like the millions of other drivers, save and sane! Its nice to let go and drive really bad.

I read something one day that was funny but true...It had to do with asians..Asains are some of the smartest people in the world, have some of the best reflexes in the world also...that being said, most cant drive worth a #######! LOL, ok just kiddings a little, I accually think much more of asians then I do any other race in the world.

Now why would you squeezed between a jeep and bus? thats pretty reckless. Your reckless driving could have caused an accident. You seem very pretty proud of your "aggressive" driving skills.

  5. I hope this info helps you. I think her best bet is to get a IDP so she can drive right away.

    http://www.usa.gov/Topics/Foreign_Visitors_Driving.shtml

Foreign Visitors Driving in the U.S.

Quick facts for foreign visitors about driving in the United States

    1. To drive in the United States, you must obtain an international driver's permit (IDP) from your home country before coming to the U.S.. The IDP verifies that you hold a valid license in your home country. The IDP serves as a translation of your driver's license into 10 languages. It is your foreign driver's license (translated by the IDP) that allows you to drive in the United States. Contact the automobile association or driving authorities in your home country to get an international driving permit before traveling, as the United States does NOT issue international driver's permits to foreign visitors.

    2. If you obtain a valid international driver's permit from your country of origin before you come to the U.S., you may rent a car and drive before you get your U.S. driver's license. Check with the rental car company regarding minimum age to rent a car.

    3. If you are going to reside in the U.S., you can get a U.S. driver's license once you are in the U.S., but it may take several months to obtain a U.S. driver's license.

    4. Foreign visitors who become U.S. residents can only obtain a driver's license from the state in which they reside (not from the federal government). Each state has its own driving rules and regulations. Check with your state's motor vehicles department to find out how to apply.

    5. Once you receive your U.S. driver's license from a state motor vehicles department, you will be permitted to drive in all other U.S. states. The laws in each state vary from one to another. It is your responsibility to know and obey the laws of that state while driving.

    6. The residency requirement for obtaining a U.S. driver's license varies with each state. Consult the motor vehicles department in your state for more information.

    7. If you are a foreign student coming to the U.S. to study, contact the university or college you will attend, as most institutions provide students with additional driving information.

    8. The U.S. government has issued warnings about Internet vendors of worthless international driver's licenses/permits. It is important to educate yourself about the dangers of these costly and illegal operations. See International Driver's License Warning from Federal Trade Commission. You must get an International Driver's Permit from your home country. If you are an American traveling abroad, go to the Automobile Association of America (AAA) or the National Automobile Club (NAC), the only vendors authorized by the U.S. Department of State, before you leave the U.S.

  6. I'm just a lurker. I'm not a petitioner nor the petitionee. I don't really have any reason to be here in Visa Journey. Some one from pinoyexchange.com posted this messageboard and I checked it out out of curiosity.

I wish the nephew best of luck whatever path he chose.

Strange how the OP comment about bargirls originally offended all the lovely PI girls who watch VJ, then when he tried to fix/explain it, some girls really got angry. The intent was never to discuss her motivation, just his chances of getting her a visa, and why. The comment itself was tactless, but the OP was about immigration, not prostitution.

I wasn't offended by the OP's comment. I couldn't careless if his nephew is marrying a former hooker nor I care about his nephew's comment that most K1 petitions are former bar girls.

I wasn't planning to reply, but when I read Haole's wife comments stating that prostitution is an easy way out, I just have to say something.

People who were quick to judge the "former" bar girl should get down off their high horses. You don't know what kind of situation she is in.

  7. speedo...that's all i can say  Just lurking..Lol..I told frostysoftyeaton that i will not comment on this because sounds like for me the original poster want some troubles...(sorry if i maybe wrong!!!grinning)or he just really honest in asking about the quiry of his nephew.Smile

  8. Old saying!" You can take the girl out of the bar but you can't take the bar out of the girl".

Besides that if US embassy manila has any inkling that the beneficiary was a prostitude or even associated with such she will be denied.

My Filipina wife doesn't have any respect for bargirls who took the "easy" way out instead of working a decent respectable lower paying job as MANY pinay have done and are doing.

I don't think it's an easy way out; hence, people usually describe those kind of job as "kapit sa patalim." C'mon now, how could it be an easy way out to sell your body? for strangers to play with your body? I wonder if that decent respectable lower paying job can that the bar girl can find cannot feed herself or her family. Should she let her family die from starvation?

I just love it when people are quick to judge /jump give their comment when they are never been in those kind of situation and don't know how it feels to be in that situation.

For the record, I am not a bar girl. I'm just a lurker. Someone from pinoyexchange.com posted this site regarding a very controversial topic.

  9. Do you belong to any Filipino Message Board?

When I came to US 10 years ago, I then came across www.PinoyEXchange.com .

Eventhough I came with my whole family (parents and bro), I was so homesick. PEx helped me not be homesick all the time.

So what other Filipino Message Board do you visit.
