  1. I watched it, but Argentina didn't go all out and had starting players missing. Didn't they pull Messi after the first half and Teves was playing with Manchester United.

Sorry Landon Donovan just doesn't impress me, He couldn't start regularly on the first team of a German club and came back here. He's not even close to Kaka, Messi, Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Drogba, Fernando Torres I'm a Manchester United fan.

Valencia, but Real and Barca are normally the teams to beat each year and sign the big name players.

Donovan may not be as great as some of the players you mentioned, but I still love him and still think he's a great footballer. :) I don't have any particular team that I support in EPL or La Liga, but I do like (non-American players) Lukasz Podolski, Michael Ballack, Miroslav Klose, Andrew Crouch.

  2. Soccer is now my sport. I love US Men's National Team: Landon Donovan, Carlos Bocanegra, Clint Dempsey, Brian Ching, Timmy Howard, Michael Bradley.

I thought you like soccer. LOL U.S. team is joke Other than Tim Howard who is a petty good keeper, the rest are second rate players. The only way the U.S. makes it to the World Cup is they get to play teams like Costa Rica and Canada to qualify. You want to see real soccer, watch English Premier League games.

U.S. is ranked 28th in the world

LOL. I'm pretty aware that they are not the best team, but I still love them. I'm an American, and no matter what, they are numero uno in my heart. I am an MLS fan. I don't really care for EPL or La Liga. I support my local team. Barca was here in Giants Stadium about a month ago for friendlies against NYRB. It actually made me sad to see kids/teenagers wearing Barca Jerseys than a NYRB jerseys. I bet 90% of them can't even name other teams that plays in La Liga besides Barca and Real Madrid. My supporter's club chanted " we support our local team" most of the game.

On the other hand, I don't think Landon Donovan is a second rate player.

ETA: Did you watch the friendlies between USMNT and Argie. IMHO, it's one of the best games ever. I know it was just friendlies, but it was an amazing game. I saw it live, and it was such an amazing experience.

  3. I used to play (varsity) basketball during highschool back in the Philippines. My idols during my high school years were Richie Ticzon (Yum-O!), Bal David and Reggie Miller.

I'm not into basketball anymore. Soccer is now my sport. I love US Men's National Team: Landon Donovan, Carlos Bocanegra, Clint Dempsey, Brian Ching, Timmy Howard, Michael Bradley. I also love the USWMNT: Abby Wambach! I also support my local team- NY Redbulls.

  4. I used to have a major crush on Michael Phelps during 2004 Olympics. I still finds him hot, but my Olympian crush for this Olympics is Michael Bradley of the US Soccer team.

My "favorite" olympians are the US Men's and Women's Soccer Team!

  5. We were watching the gymnasts last night and it was heartbreaking when one of the Chinese gymnasts lost her grip on the bar and fell. She was really fighting back the tears and maintaining composure but later her eyes welled up. :((F)

I felt so bad for her. I almost cried watching her hold her tears.

  6. I am so happy that the US won! I love when trash talk backfires, especially when it backfires at the last possible second. Nothing like trash talk to motivate the other team.

GO Team USA!!! I love you Lezak!!!!

  7.:thumbs::thumbs: Couples really must talk about everything (above and beyond) before they commit themselves to one another.

    Exactly.

Time management is the answer. Also, having a career gives me self-fulfillment.

    I agree as well.

  8. Hmmm... Having a happy and intact family is important in Filipino Culture. They are giving so much importance in the "complete family" thing. There is nothing wrong with wanting to have an ideal (complete and happy) family but if things are not working out for couples, I couldn't find any reason to continue the relationship. I am a Filipina but I do not want to live my life suffering because of that Filipino Culture thing. It is not healthy to fight with your partner and live life like hell everyday.

Don't we all want to have a happy and intact family? Giving so much importance in the "complete family" thing is not always a good thing. See my post regarding this "complete familiy" thing. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...42457&st=15

I agree with you that if the relationship is not fixable (abuse and stuff), one should end the relationship. I was just baffled with deadwood's statement.

  9. This poll was inspired by the video that Steven posted about FOB vs FILAM. They slightly touch the the topic regarding some FILAMs who don't speak tagalog, but they call themselves Filipino American.

So USC, are you going to let your SO to teach your kid/s to speak tagalog/other dialect?

Non USC, are you going to teach your kid/s your language?

    Why? or why not?

  10. My husband clearly stated that during the course of our courtship. He's retired... he needs someone whom he can be with him day in, day out. I didn't have any problems with it, as a matter of fact, I can say that our marriage is working harmoniously. We work (around the house, yard, garden, etc) together and we travel quite often visiting families and relatives. But like I said, we also have an understanding that if I would need some other things to be done just to be away from the routine, he'd rather make me go to school than working. It's not that money is not a problem in our relationship --- who doesn't worry about money? But his income is enough to pay all our bills and have food on the table and that's all that matters to us.

As long as the husband and the wife talked about stuff before they got married, to work or not to work is not really an issue. Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

My reply that you quoted was directed to the TS/OP. Your situation is different than the TS/OP. You and your husband are on the same page (good for you), but it's obvious that TS/OP is not really sure if she wants to be a house wife for the rest of her life. She also PMed with some of her concerns which makes me believe that something else is going on.

I am SAHM/wife, since I was 5 months pregnant. Our son is already 15 months. I'm planning to go back to work when he starts school. My husband and I are young, so I'll be long time before we retire. I don't want to stay at home wasting my education waiting for my husband to come home from work and my son to come home from school. I'll probably just going to work part time when my son is in school, so I can drive/attend his after school activities (sports or whatever).
