Thanks so much everybody, I really appreciate the input. In the beginning I started a big binder that I was putting everything in. Maybe I will just finish that up and store it and then get rid of all the extra stuff. I’m kind of like you guys, it scares me to think of getting rid of it. It was such an ordeal to go through and they can switch on you’re so easy. 🫤

Does anyone have knowledge of how long document retention should be? We, like all of you, have a giant box of immigration paperwork and am just wondering what everyone is doing with it and when. Thanks :)

I just returned from Atlanta. Passed the Interview and did the same day oath ceremony. I am a USC now. Please update.

My son passed the interview just fine yesterday -- gave him paperwork saying he was approved and an envelope for passport application. They said he will be advised as to the date for Naturalization ceremony.

Should add that he did carry in a big folder with the last 12 months of bank and credit card info, University ID and enrolment verification, but was asked for none of it. The interview started 50 minutes after appointment time. The interview was an hour long (which worried my husband and I that were sitting in waiting area) My son said it was a relaxed and informal interview but a lot of time was spent "visiting".

He said he started with the test questions and they were: how many voting members in house; who is father of country; name of current Chief Justice of Supreme Court; name a war in 1900's....and my son can't remember the last question.

I posted this in our November Filers thread but so few have gone through yet I thought I might just make a general post here to see if anyone knew? I feel like after all these years and husband just operating from his UK passport and US green card now that's all we should need?

Hello people,

I had my interview this morning on Philadelphia at 10:45am. I got there on time and the IO took me to her office on time. I passed the test and civil questions and the interview was fast, nothing special about it. The IO went through my file and verified that everything was update. Everything seemed to be in order. Then, first, she gave me a piece of paper with my data that would be used on my certificate of naturalization and she asked me to sign it up on the bottom on it. I was super happy because I thought that I was going to receive my oath letter but not, because after that she gave the another paper about my results and it was stated that:

(X) TEST PASSED.

(X) NOT DECISION CAN BE MADE YET

I was shocked on myself and respectfully I asked to the IO about that and she said that I sent a lot of evidence since the beginning of my process and she needs to double check that everything wis fine. (But, the question is: Perhaps she forgot that they requested us to sent 'enough' evidence of our real marriage????). Well, I just smiled and thanked her for everything.

What do think about my interview experience guys???? how long is going to take to get any decision??? By the way, I don't have any kind of criminal record or anything legal issue else.

HE PASSED!!

He was so nervous but did great. I timed him and from the minute they called him in to the minute he walked out was about 20 minutes. He said they went over his paperwork, had him do the sentence, answer six questions from the list and that was that. Oath is in March!!

As a born American I HATE hearing that. Boo! I hope you're treated better next time. Thankfully my husband has been treated well and in fact he was happy that instead of giving him a dirty look and waving him through like they did in England with his "home" passport, when we came back home from a visit there the guy smiled and said "welcome home!".

Doesn't it feel good that you are now a citizen? I would be freaking out right now but in a good way. Just to know that when I cross back into the US from Canada the first time as a US citizen that the CPB guys have to be just a little more polite.

There is one guy who works at Lewiston/Queenston that is a complete jerk..Officer Faulkner.. and I have had the pleasure of crossing back into his lane a few times. He is one of those guys who is a complete power tripper. Everytime I cross there and end up getting him I curse myself for not using the Whirlpool bridge (NEXUS Only) which is only a 15 minute detour.

I love seeing one of us in "red ink" now!

Thanks so much for the report of the day! It was interesting to here about a "live" one!

We too are concerned about giving up the naturalization cert so fast. Our plan is to go right to the voting registration office and then to the passport office to send away for his since his Mum is aging and we need to be sure he has that in hand. It's a scary feeling for him to hand that over to someone else that same day though. And like you, our mail person leaves a bit to be desired when it comes to delivering mail. Maybe we can have it signed for?

Question for you..did they allow your phone in there for the oath so you get get a photo?

EDIT: I forgot to ask also, did you have to give up your original passport? He would love to keep his Brit passport if possible for sentimental reasons.

I'm really scared about applying for the passport. Is there any way I could apply without having to leave my Naturalization Certificate? I really don't like the idea of having no way to prove my citizenship while my passport is getting processed

and and...I have good news too!!!

I got a voicemail from the IO who will be handling my case (she handles the military cases) and I called her back and she said that the computer scheduled my interview before they had a chance to do it so they had to cancel it. My new interview schedule is January 22!!! I'm so happy!!! She also said that if everything goes well in my interview and paperwork, I can have my oath on the same day!!!

Oh no! I hated to see this post. I'm sorry this happened and and wishing for you a speedy reschedule.

I called the Military Helpline and they were able to confirm that my interview was indeed cancelled. They said to call back in 2 weeks if I haven't received a new interview schedule yet and they will call the field office for me and see why they had to deschedule.
