I-751 Sent = The Date you sent your application

Why yes I did in fact get 2 text messages at 2am. 2 worried me I thought I might have an RFE but no instead
"On October 10, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you."

My parents lived in SA for the last 11 years and I visited 5 times; 2 of which on extended stay for 90 days or more.
You will be able to obtain a 90 day entry in to SA. It is not a visa it is an Exemption and the idea is you intend to stay 90 days or less. Then you MUST leave the country. But you can often just cross the broader for a week and then go back on another 90 day visa.
They usually ask to see proof of support ie your bank account and will absolutely expect to see a return ticket.
And on a second return closely on the heels of the first there is more scrutiny.

There are many many examples. I also agree there have been many more people lately saying they tried and were denied.
Here's one for example: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/305766-biometrics-walk-ins/page__view__findpost__p__4615431 but you'll see them a fair bit in the filers groups. Also in my comments section of my profile someone who goes to my local office told me that she was rejected for a early walk-in so I won't be risking it either (3 hour drive)

I can say I had a bad experience on AOS when I was a walk-in. In the end they let me do it but gave me the third degree. I was taken into the office of the woman running Kentwood MI. Took me about 2 1/2 hours to get through even though the office was empty but for 2 people.

Got caught up forgot to add our info to the thread. So our interview went well as we last said but we got an RFE on the following Monday turns out the Doctor had missed ticking one box and in the meantime our original medical had outrun its time limit. Short story re did it, sent it in and on Saturday Green Card arrived. Or should I say Cream card with green stripe

DairyFarmer, that 6 hr drive could not have been nice, at least not on the way there. Glad you had good news in the car on the way back.
eltemp, glad the waiting for news didn't last TOO long.
Thanks for the congrats, the drive WAS horrendous add to the fact we were up at 3am to finish chores before we went....
On another note, so I am confused are people not being given responses at their interviews? And what's with the recording, we weren't told of any at ours.

Greencard approved at interview. Hubby and I drove 6 hours round trip to Detroit for an 8 min interview. Wrote review on timeline.

EAD arrived today, with same approval date as AP - 67 days.
Now for the interview in 24 more days.

All documentation for LPR (Legal Permanent Residence) - Evidence that supports the reason for you to stay ie if you are K1 you would have to have married within 90 days so your marriage certificate, then evidence of your bona fide relationship, shared health insurance, bank accounts, leases, utilities etc.

Just got another email confirming EAD card production 2 days after the last.

We got one email for EAD & a second for AP within 30 sec confirming card production and approval notice have been sent 2.30pm yesterday.

So we got a second letter today issuing an interview 6 days after the last. STRESSED me out!!! But I tried to let cool heads prevail called the STUPID 1 800 OF COURSE my receipt number didn't work.
Anyway long story short no record of 2nd interview date in system so 31 days till interview.

So I have been getting touches on my I-485, but not for my EAD and AP. Has anyone had something similar? Perhaps they are waiting on my biometrics maybe? Thanks!
We got touches on 01/18 & 01/19 on the AOS & EAD re Biometrics but nothing since.

Hi all so we haven't really been hanging out on VJ much, but we joined the December filers after the USCIS lost our first set of paper work. Anyway I digress.
We have a received/priority date on our AOS, EAD & AP of December 22, 2009.
Then received a biometrics appt date for Jan 27, did a walkin on Jan 15.
And have now received our interview date for March 25, 2010
But there are no changes to our case on line and no evidence of EAD or AP yet. Anyone have similar? I thought the EAD would come first.

I haven't been on VJ hardly at all, but I was surprised and saddened to see you are still waiting. I'll keep you in my prayers, I know this is a nightmarish time, the whole waiting and lack of transparency, it all stinks. My chin up after wards it all becomes to easy to forget.
Thanks for your support DairyFarmer...the most frustrating part of this whole thing is that we don't know the reason for the delay. DOS keeps telling us that the visa is not in Admin processing, not in security checks, not in Admin Review. We even emailed the US Embassy in London asking about what the reason for the delay is. But we emailed them on Monday and today is Friday and we still have not gotten a reply yet. We don't know where to move on from here regarding finding out why the reason for the delay.
We got our Congressman to ask the question after 5 weeks as to what the delay was and pow he was given a same day response and my visa was issued. It maybe worth a try, you can submit the request through the congress website. Ours got back to us the day after the request was submitted.

So Hi all
Have been incredibly busy and yet not busy at all. Hope you all don't mind but as I spent so much time going through the process with you all in the K1 lead up I thought it might be nice to continue on the journey here. (even if I am an Aussie)
A a result have only started AOS. However have managed to get the forms out of the way and get my MMR jab. So now just need to collect evidence AGAIN including getting MIL to fill in co-sponsor forms etc.
Plans for today get new passport pictures, called Dr Arnold's office to get my MMR transcribed. But have realized I never got a copy of my medical. Did anyone else have a copy from London??

Here's a clue. Go to SS the DAY AFTER your fiancee arrives. Go to the SS office the DAY AFTER you apply and ask for the SSN, they generate the number and update the sytem overnight. The can tell you your SSN the day after you apply. If they don't you have problems. Correct them immediately.
I know, it is a pain, but unfortunately necessatry. Maybe Obama will train SS clerks after he fixes the auto industry
that sure does contradict the vj guides.......
On the other hand, you should also not file for a SSN too soon either.
You should wait 2 weeks after you arrived in the US before applying for a SSN. If you go too soon your
record of arrival will not be in the SAVE-ASVI system yet, and it will require manual verification from the
USCIS. As this will add weeks to the period it takes to process the SSN, it is advisable to attempt to wait the two weeks to be safe.
There are plenty of people who have trouble when they go TOO soon, it appears to add a whole layer of administrative nightmare for one. We waited 10 days and it took 1 more week to get the card. -

It was, but no. It was really quite icky and there wasn't really time to think let alone run back to the house for a camera.

I think it depends on the situation. A waiting period is a waiting period. Its tough to feel like you are sitting on your hands but there will be an end. Just be patient, its crazy how soon your forget about it once its over.
Contacting your elected officials can make a big difference when the process goes awry. So save it for then.
