  1. I haven't read the shortcuts she gave you. However, personally, after all I went through... I would send the original DS230 along with the ORIGINALS of birth certificate, police certificate and marriage certificate. I was so excited just like you, but I tried to speed things up and ended up making things take so much longer. When they said they wanted a copy of the original.. I sent a copy of the originals, instead of the originals and then I had to mail the others, but didn't wait until I got the RFE and I emailed an attached PCC to make sure they had it sooner, but what happened was my completion date went from Nov 20 to Dec 1. Be careful to follow all the procedures on the website. I had been told a few things by the operators at the NVC that let us get through the NVC, but prompted two RFEs at the interview. I am sure you will not have the problems with the RFEs at the interview like we did... But... if it were me, especially with what happened to me, I would just express mail the originals to the NVC. Good luck with everything! :)

  2. It's been a long journey, but today we finally received our APPROVED visa. He will be coming home to me and the children on May 5th. It's crazy... I sent my first I-130 application on May 12 to Nebraska, but it was sent back because they had changed areas and the copy I had, had outdated instructions... so anyways... from the time I sent my I-130 off the first time, it took us 49 weeks to get our visa. Anyways... It feels great to know he is APPROVED and we can now move on with our life TOGETHER SIDE BY SIDE! What an AWESOME feeling, especially with all the RFEs we got starting at the NVC and moving on to the Embassy. lol What an experience! Thank you all for your help and support!

  3. He called me shortly after I posted this earlier. He didn't open the MBE... he told me what you all just told me. Soo.... HE WAS APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!! I got him a flight here on May 5th! Wow... I am so excited and yet, in a bit of shock at the same time! Thank you for your support throughout this whole journey! :)

  4. He can open the Xpresspost envelope but not the mysterious brown envelope (MBE). The passport isn't sealed and will be separate from the MBE. Sure hope he doesn't open the wrong envelope! LOL

OMG! That is soo not funny. I can't get ahold of him. The message I left said not to open the passport, but the envelope was fine... I meant the xpresspost mailer and... I am feeling sooo.... I hate this not knowing and not being able to talk to him! Sorry, I don't mean to break down, but if I screw this all up over one wrong instruction.... I guess I just have to wait and see. Does it say do not open?

  5. AAAH! lol... talk about suspense. I told my husband that his passport would be sealed if it was approved and it would come with a letter. He didn't understand me. He thought I meant not to open the prepaid xpresspost envelope. SO I got a call from him and I couldn't hear anything. I couldn't get the phone to hang up... so when I did, I saw there was a voice mail telling me that there was a message. He told me he got the envelope, but no letter... soooo... anyways... I left a message with his dad that he can open the evelope, just not the passport if it is sealed and that is how we will know if he is approved or not. I also asked him to ask his dad if he could call me again. His dad said he would leave him the message. It has almost been an hour and... I still don't know! LOL... we have been waiting on this answer for sooooo long and we have it at our disposal and I still have to wait! AAAHH! LOL I will at least know if we were approved today or not!

  6. I got notification via email from Canadapost that our Xpresspost mailer was accepted by the post office at 10:01 today... so I am thinking he should get it tomorrow! We don't know if he is approved or not, but are hoping he is! We will know either way soon!

  7. Both our AOS and DS230 were accepeted over a week ago....We are just waiting for NVC to fix their internal issue with our IV bill. It shows paid on one of their systems and pending on the other.

It has been 2 weeks and they are yet to fix this issue :(

Did you speak with a supervisor?

Yes - No help there :(

However when I called this morning I was told this issue would be fixed today. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope that gets fixed soon! I am sorry you are going through this.

  8. I have a question based on this... my son's father is a Canadian citizen and I am a US citizen... so he is automatically both right? I am not quite sure what I need to do to declare his Canadian citizenship... but if he never lives in Canada and has children, does this mean that they will be part Canadian also... or is the dual citizenship only until they are 18 and they have to declare a citizenship? Do you know? We want to get the papers done so he can have both a Canadian passport and he already has and uses his American one. Because we don't have the official papers done for his Canadian citizenship, when I have flown with him to Canada twice, I said he was an American citizen.

We'd need a little bit more information to give you a precise answer.

Your son (who is a real cutie!! Congratulations!!) is most probably both.

Where was he born? In the US, Canada, or other?

I'm assuming he was born in the US.

If so, he is certainly 100% US citizen. If he was born outside of the US, it will depend upon your past US residence history.

Now regarding Canadian citizenship, where was your husband born? In Canada? If so, again your son should have Canadian citizenship from birth, and should be able to retain it for life. I believe that you will need to register him with the nearest Canadian consulate to where you live to establish this. If your husband was not born in Canada, then most likely the age-28 (not 18) rule will apply to your son. See my post above, and in particular follow the link I provided to the CIC document explaining this.

Awesome, thank you. Yes, I am a US citizen born in the United States and yes, my husband is a Canadian citizen born in Quebec, Canada. My son will be 8 months old tomorrow and was born here in Colorado. I checked out the link and this is exactly what I needed!!! Thanks! :)

  10. Hi all!

We are officially done at the NVC as of 4/15/2009 per the AVR system!!

No RFE for us - thank god.

Now, we just have to wait to be scheduled for an interview, I suppose. Hoping for one in the very near future - optimism never hurt throughout the process (at least thus far). :)

Just thought I'd update. Good luck to all!

    Congrats!

  11. That should be all you need. FrazelThomas has to finish her visa application after her interview too (medical results completed after interview) and I remember that it took a while for her to get hers back too. I think Montreal just sat on it for a week or so-- just keep checking that tracking number and hope for the best! I am so eager for you!

Thanks for letting me know about FrazelThomas... that is encouraging! He mailed it off last Tuesday... so at least we are getting closer.
