  1. Hey guys!!!

I was checking my status at uscis last night...and......I already got approved for my permanent resident!!! It took less then 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!!! I filed for that in July...........have you guys ever heard of that before??? And the funny part to me is that......I did not have an interview!! Just my biometrics on the 31 of July....no touches after August 22....and now approved!! WOW! God is sooo good to me!!!!! That made my day even better than it already was, because I also got a job yesterday!! WOWIEEEE!!!! :D I hope this is something that is becoming normal now...so that you guys don't have to wait as long as you thought either!!!!!

Wow..Congratulations.. i hope it would happen to mine too.. :)

  2. Ryan and I decided not to apply for my SSN today but instead do the process after we're married so that we no longer have to go back twice to the SSA local office to change my personal infos with my married name. A Pinay friend of mine who is here in AZ also suggested beforehand to get it after we're married. Any opinion is very much appreciated :D

you can get it before or after marriage if you want it to be under your I-94 which has 90 days expiration. but make sure that 76 days is not over yet. you can use your married name if you get after your marriage.

  3. Hello po. I would suggest too that once you applied for ssn make sure you make a follow up call or go in person asking the status of your application. When I applied for ssn before it took me almost 2 months before I got my card because I found out that social security personnel forgot to mail my request. What happened was I applied for my ssn then the lady told me it should take atleast 2-3 weeks for me to receive my card but then 1 month had passed I still didn't get my card . So we drove to the ssn office and asked the lady she then told us that she already submitted the papers to INS. We then drove all the way to Hardford and found out that they never received any request from ssn office in my area under my name. So we drove back to the ssn office and the lady checked her drawer and found out that my request for ssn was still there.

Thanks very much for the advice for now i am waiting for my ssn the lady said that i will follow up when i dont get it in two months. i hope it wont take that long. :)

  4. OK, I am submitting an I-130 for my wife, as well as I-485 package, with I-131 and I-765. Can anyone confirm how many photos are required for this package? I am counting 7 of her and 1 of me. (2 for I-131, 2 for I-485, 1+1 of me for I-130, and 2 for I-765).

But in my initial consultation with an attorney (who I am not using - going the DIY route!) they said 6. And in the guide here I only count 4.

    Thanks for any help!!!

That's good of you.. it says that after 14 days from your arrival in the US you can apply already SSN to give them time to have your information in their computer. In my case i will apply 14 days before my visa will expire because i have a problem with my I-94. Anyway happy for both of you and congratulations for your wedding..

  6. Quick question.. when did you enter the US? (your timeline isn't updated)

Yeah if you have been here 76 days or more, you are going to need to wait until you have an EAD card or I-551 stamp or card to be assigned an SSN.

The name allowed to be used for the name change due to marriage is going to depend on state law where you apply for the SSN. Generally, you can use your maiden name and married name in some configuration as your last name or your maiden name as your middle name.

    Look at EM-06064

  7. Hi guys.. we've just got married last month me and hubby are on process of getting SSN. He wanted to make sure that i can bring already his name on it. For now we are ordering our "proof of Marriage" since we were married in Vegas. Is it possible that i can bring his family name when we show them our marriage certificate when we apply or will they follow what i have in the passport? So when i get it we can proceed to AOS application. I hope we can hear from you soon.. Thanks and Godbless..

Just bring with you your passport (with I-94 and visa page), birth certificate and marriage certificate. You will be given a form to fill out - Yep you can use your husband's last name and your maiden last name as your middle name (philippine way).

  11. Is it necessary to bring originals of the documents (proof of phone, email, hotels, etc) for the fiancee to have at the interview or can I just take copies with me when I go over and let her take those? I know she can give them copies but do I really need to have originals handy if they want to see them? My understanding is they don't look at most of the stuff anyway and I hate to bring two of everything.

You can bring copies of those documents not necessarily originals..
