  1. Hello everyone.. I have a question regarding my Philippine passport which is going to expire next year. I was in the middle of thinking wether to apply for citizenship this year or not. But before everything else i am worried about my passport that will expire next year. Does anybody knows where and how to renew Philippine passport? I am near Tampa, Florida area. Thank you very much i appreciate for your help.

  2. You will not maintain residency status doing this. At 6 months of stay outside the USA the CBP can refuse you entry and take away your green card at their discretion. Also leaving and entering constantly for short periods of time can trigger the CBP to believe that you are not residing in the USA and you are not using the GC as its meant to be used then remove the green card from you.

Hi.. Thank you for this topic, I was thinking of studying abroad but if it will break my green card I would rather stay here. Better to listen to people who know better.

  5. hi everyone....

I took my behind the wheels driving test yesterday, and I passed. But the dmv personnel said that they cannot issue me a true driver's license other than the temporary license printed on a paper because my K1 status will expire in 30 days. She further said that I have to give them the extension notice of my status here in order to get my true driver license or else it will expire.

I am already married with my USC petitioner and we'll file AOS next week...

My question is...Is there a thing as proof of extension that I can submit to dmv? Where and how can I get it?

Thanks for those who will give time to answer my inquiry...

I guess you need to go to homeland and security office and ask for the extension of your k-1 visa or Form I-94 rather you really have to wait until you receive a paper from them regarding your EAD/ap or AOS papers. :hehe:

  6. I got a notice from the USCIS saying that my papers was transferred to California service center what does it mean? is it really to make the process fast or does it make a delay? what are the requirements for the interview and when it will be? do we need to have a joint account or do our names need to be together in the bills? hopeful to know.. thanks a lot in advance.. :)

    Slow down...

In almost every case that gets transferred to CSC - it means there won't be an interview (in rare cases, some get transferred back to local offices). So in a way, being transferred would be faster since there wouldn't be an interview.

    P.S.,

Don't forget to keep your timeline up to date...

    --------------------------------------------------

Thanks.. im glad. :) Im sorry i dont really know how to make a time line but i will try to make or update it. Anyway, i read in your time line that you passed already the written driver's exam before you had your EAD/AP approved. can we do that? where did you take the exam and i thought that you could not get it unless after having the EAD/AP approved.

  8. Hi guys, I got my biometrics schedule what to expect after that..?

After you have your biometrics appointment, you should look at your file on-line. It might be transferred, in which case you'll probably be approved your AOS without an interview. About 3 weeks after your biometrics, you may get a letter instructing you to attend an appointment in which case you'll have an actual AOS interview. You'll need to bring specific requested documentation, originals of copies you sent in with your application, and have your spouse there with you.

If this is a biometrics appointment for your EAD/AP, then you'll receive your cards in the mail sometime after your appointment. Look to see when others have been getting their cards. Usually in a month or two?

  9. My interview experience: K1 Visa 10-16-2008

Woke at 4AM. Had a nice breakfast. Left the house at 5:30AM. Dropped by at a hotel nearby where Maria (allrightsreserved) and her daughters waited for me.

6:10AM - We arrived outside USEM Manila. Waited for few minutes then our scheduled time of interview was called and we had to cue in line. Showed ID and appointment letter to the guard, scanned our things (the guard said my bag was too heavy haha).

We were asked to sit on blue chairs, waited for just 20 minutes until we were asked to get our stub numbers. Before I got my stub I was asked for my DS forms. My number was 7005.

Few more minutes my name was called and were asked to go to window 16 for finger scanning.

While waiting for pre-screening, I was talking to the person right beside me when Maria told me 7005 is already flashing on the q-matic board hahaha (her number was 7006 and she does not know mine was 7005, she only said that because she’s thinking she’s next to that number, so be aware and stay focus on the q-matic board) Ok, I rushed on window 22 for pre-screening.

    I greeted the lady “Good Morning” she asked me if it’s a good morning, I said it is indeed a very pleasant morning, then she smiled. She asked me;

If I pay the Document Verification? She asked for my receipt.

    Then original copies of my BC, CENOMAR, NBI. She then asked;

    Who is your petitioner?

    Then he asked for I-134, 1040 and W2 for 2007, Employment Certificate and pay stubs, bank statement (good thing I have Jeff’s bank statement yaaay)… Pictures of us (she asked if I made the photo album my self, and she said it‘s nice), phone records, and email logs. Then she asked me;

Where and when did we meet?

    When was his first visit?

How many times did he visit?

    When was his last visit?

    Was he married before?

    Does he have a child?

What kind of job does he do?

She then check my DS forms, and asked me to sign 156K (the portion where it says DO NOT WRITE BELOW THIS LINE). She noticed I attached another paper for my DS 157 regarding question numbers 9, 12 & 17. And she asked how long was the longest vacation I had outside the country. She then said “You may have a seat, wait for your number (same number) and good luck.

Yaayyy! Past 10AM I think my number flashed on the q-matic board and I went to window 31. I was asked to swear, at first I was shaking and I don’t know what to say LOL

    Then CO started asking me:

    What is your name?

    What is your petitioner’s name?

    How old am I?

    How old is my petitioner?

What is his Job? In what state?

    Was he married before?

Does he have a child? How many? How old is the child? When was the child born?

He then said “you have tons of papers here” I smiled. (I am thinking I still have some more in my heavy bag LOL).

Then he wrote some notes on his PC and he said there seems to be no problem, you can wait outside and wait for your name to be called. And I said thank you sir, have a good day.

My name was called on window 37 after few minutes, they gave back the evidences. I was given a PINK SLIP ONLY (I can‘t wait to say but Maria and her daughters also got pink slip only LOL she will laugh when she sees this message LOL), and the person on window 37 said, “pay for the visa delivery, and go home“.

I asked God to sit beside me, there were no vacant seat for HIM but I know he was guiding all of us throughout the process. And so I want to dedicate this moment to HIM, praise God!

To Jeff, I know how happy you are, your happiness upon knowing everything went well was priceless and it made me so happy. I love you so much and I can’t wait to be with you again, and this time for good and until forever!

To all the VJ people who shared their knowledge and experience, and most importantly who shared such a wonderful friendship during the waiting for approval, during my medical, during my interview and throughout my visa journey, a million thanks to all of you (I will drop a note to all of you).

Good luck to all of you who will be having their medical and interview soon. Have faith in God and everything will be fine.

Depends on your case and the local office if you have an interview or not. I had my bio done almost 2 months ago and I still haven't received the interview letter...

ok thanks.. now i know what to expect i hope it wont take long..

  11. Hi :) I am waiting for my packet from US Embassy and I am just curious if US Embassy will be sending me the packet through regular post office or through couriers like DHL, FedEx or LBC? Currently I am not staying in my permanent address which I wrote in the forms.

Please share your experiences when you received your packet from US embassy after NVC forwarded application to Consulate...thank you so much for your answers in advance :)

    ________________________________________________________

It will be sent to your address thru DHL. Normally your fiance or husband receive his copy first so you can use that letter or information to call the USM to have your interview scheduled. Note: pay the NSO verification to avoid delay after the interview. Goodluck.. :)

  12. Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well. I have always used pre paid phone cards to call my fiance in the Philippines. I have saved every one. Will these be of any use to her at her interview?

    Stephen

Maybe, if in addition to other evidence. I'd switch my calling method to one that provides call records.

We have over a thousand emails to each other and proof of my three visits to see her. Will not having written phone records really make a big difference at her interview?

    _____________________________________________________

NOT REALLY, BUT IT IS BETTER TO HAVE FEW OF THOSE EMUMIRATED EVIDENCES. MINE THEY DID NOT ASK ME FOR THAT BUT I STILL SHOWED IT TO THEM. HUSBAND HAS AT LEAST HAS 3 CALL RECORDS IN HIS PHONE BILL. THEY DID NOT ASK A LOT ANYWAY AT LEAST PRESENT THEM SOMETHING..
