Why on earth would you go and start a new thread? We have an existing thread that is perfectly functional and is to be used for all users. If there are multiple threads and someone posts a question, it may get missed. People have been asking me questions over multiple threads and it is just because I have had pm alerts that folks had asked questions that I seen them. Lets stick with the original thread please.
Collie, I'd like to be able to see/compare timelines between ONLY 2014 filers that I have seen changes in timeframe lately. Thanks!
-
Hi, could you please add your timeline to the 2014 IR-5 Timeline thread? This is for all IR-5 filers who submitted their petition in 2014.
Thanks!
-
I'd like to start a new thread for everyone who submuitted their I-130 Petition for Parents (IR-5) in 2014. I know there is already an IR-5 Timeline thread, but I've noticed that the timeframe for the processing have changed lately, also the IR-5 Timeline has so many entries already.
I feel that it'll be helpful for us new filers to see the timeline with around the same time of submission. Please feel free to add your timeline for all the 2014 IR-5 filers.
Thanks!

I wouldn't suggest stopping the check. I don't know what will happen if you do, but the idea doesn't sound good to me. Worst case you would get is an RFE and it doesn't necessarily mean a 5-months delay as I've seen a lot of people here, even myself got an RFE (with my own visa processing), but got into the process as soon as they received the missing document.
Take a deep breath. Watch for the mail and respond to it with your proof of citizenship. Good luck!

thanks for the guide.
You're welcome. Hope it helps!

Correction to my post. It was too late for me to edit.
It does NOT hurt to try. Only bad thing that could happen is they wont let you in without the appointment letter. This is possible if you live in Manila but for my parents in Davao, we have to have everything before we show up for the appointmen/exam.
Thank you lovers0720.. I check VJ Cambodia embassy, police certificate is only vaid for 3 months.
You're welcome khmerguy. Good luck!
my mom is from mindanao, davao city also.. the important is the case no.
that's what i am gonna do to my mom advance medical after i paid online :-)
so far in my case wayback 2009 no problem
Sheila-Todd, magkababayan pala tayo! Let me know how it goes. Good luck!

6. Black ballpen
and I did this before wayback 2009.. i want to make it sure that they still allowed advance medical..

1) is the below the same?
- Original NBI Clearance
- Original Police Clearance
In the Philippines, they're different. Police Clearance is a City Criminal Record while NBI is the Country's.
2) In Cambodia it will take a month or so to have NBI clearance and about a month to mail and get it here in US. What is a good time to have my parents do there NIB? how long does it valid?
As far as I've seen, the petition's timeframe is between 2-3 months. So for me, I'll have them get the it as soon as you send the petition.
3) Medical exam: As a partitioner, do i need orginal of my parents medical exam to mail to NVC along with these
- Form DS-230 (Send parents FORM for them to sign and return with below documents)
- Original NSO birth certificate
- Original NSO marriage certificate (1 for each)
- Copy of biographic page of PASSPORT
- 2X2 photos (2 for each)
- Original NBI Clearance
- Original Police Clearance
Check your country's US embassy's visa application, as it may be a different process with regards to how the Medical Exam result is being sent. In the Philippines, the clinic will forward the applicant's results to NVC before the interview.
-
Excellent !
Any fee that my mom needs to pay before interview, like interview fee /visa processing fee? I have paid all fees that are required while petitioning for her!.
Thank you.
Goodie, we make all the fees for them other than the Medical Exam. Taked note of the payment before they fly out cos that's a new one. Good luck!

I will be soon applying for a petition for my parents to be able to come over here in US. And I have created the guide below for my reference which hopefully could help fellow applicants who just applied or soon be applying IR-5 for their parents. Also, I hope to get suggestions from those who've been through the process.
Thanks,
Jona K. (lovers0720)

Hi so my oath taking is on August 5th, and I'm gathering all the documents needed for petitioning my mother in the Philippines, can you guys check if this is all i have to submit? let me know if im missing stuff.
Form I-130
Application Fee $420
My Birth Certificate
Certification of Naturalization ( getting on Aug. 5th)
My Marriage Certificate (due to name change)
Passport Photos
G-1145
i've took passport photos like 2 months ago , is it still valid to submit? or do i have to get new passport photos again? Im planning to submit these documents after my oath taking. And also, what documents should my mom submit during these processing? can you guys list everything! I am so excited. Thank you!!!
Hi Mikeylla!
I am taking oath on Aug 6th and will be petitioning my parents soon after that.
I did my research - browse through forums, read form instructions in USCIS, NVC, etc.
For submitting the I-130 petition, you would need these:
- Form I-130
- Your birth certificate
- Your Certificate of Naturalization
- Your marriage certificate
- Check for $420 payable to: U.S. Department of Homeland Security
- Form G-1145, E-Notification
No need for photos. Nor marriage certificate, as your birth certificate alone will serve as a proof of your relationship with your mother.
Good luck!
Please keep me posted.
-
That form can be used only if you are able to answer yes to all of the questions at the very beginning of the form.
My answer to first 2 questions is YES. Not too sure about the 3rd question:
"The sponsored immigrant is the only person immigrating based on the underlying visa petition".
I will be petitioning/sponsoring both my parents, which is in separate i-130. So my answer is yes, right?
Thanks again!
-
Now i got approved what is next?
Somebody tell me... please thank you
I believe your parents will receive the Choice of Agent documents, the Immigrant Visa Invoice, and you will receive the Affidavit of Support Invoice, which you can both pay online. Then you will get another letter advising to submit necessary docs.
Good luck!
-
Congratulations! I am about to submit the petition for my parents. Hope our is as fast as yours.
-
Separate forms for each beneficiary; however, the Affidavit of Support bill will only need to be paid once.
So I can use the I-864EZ, right?
Thanks for responding.
-
Hi, I am petitioning both my parents and getting everything lined up as for steps and what not. Question, do I submit separate I-864EZ form, do the I-864, or what?
Thank you for any help.
-
Updating my interview date. Good luck to those who are still waiting...

It all depends on your location. Some does the oath taking on the same day of their interview and some has to wait for the next schedule as there are places who only do oath ceremony like once a month or less.
-
Yes, I had to go to San Antonio and am from Austin. I really hope I can attend the oath ceremony in Austin, but the office said it was not guaranteed.
Hi Betti, please let me know when you received your Oath Ceremony letter. We may be going to the same one. It'd be really nice if we can do it in Austin but never heard of any Oathtaking done here for a while now.
-
I got a ticket too for not yielding to a Stop Sign. I paid it and submitted my completed Defensive Driving course at the court.
I just had my interview last week and I wasn't asked if I've been to the court. My IO asked me though if I've been imprisoned or arrested.
So no, traffic ticket is not a big deal as long as it does not involve DUI or arrest.
-
Congratulations! I am also from Austin and had my interview earlier today which I passed. Didnt asked about the ceremony though as i was too ecstatic to think when IO told me that she'll recommend me for approval.
It'll to take oath in Austin instead of driving to SA again.
-
Congratulations to all who are done with this journey!!
I had my interview today, and other than waiting for more than an hour, everything went well and I was told that I passed and was recommended for approval (Does this mean I was approved? Not sure what others were told).
Good luck to those who are still waiting and yall hang in tight!
congrats nomiiiii and Timon&Pumba.

No you don't.
I received several parking tickets, one $300 speeding ticket and one $80 speeding ticket and I didnt report them because I paid them off.
I'm now waiting on my oath letter.
Thanks!
-
I don't know if I missed anything but I don't remember seeing this when I filed N400. I did get a ticket for Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign and I took "Defensive Driving" class for that and I believe that took care of it. That happened about 3 years ago. So, is this something I have to mention?
Thanks!

I may be wrong, but if I am you, I would wait til I receive the RFE. I imagine they would have a separate stack of files whom they requested RFE from. So if you just send it out without them requesting for it, it may get lost.
That's just my theory though. Somebody here may have a first-hand experience with this type of issue.
Good luck!
