  1. Hi everyone. The SSN checkbox in the DS-260 form worked for me and my wife. We received our SSNs by mail 7 business days after entering the US. @EB5_lurker FYI
  2. Got it, thank you. When I was going through the border, the CBP officers had a chat among themselves where they were discussing that this is a new feature, and one of the officers didn’t know about it. They were saying it has been working for about a year. That’s why I thought it definitely works. Regarding the informed delivery: No, I didn’t even think that I could sign up for Informed Delivery before receiving my SSN. I’ll try to do it today.
  3. Thank you for telling this. I didn’t know they ignore that box on the form. I was naively waiting for my SSN, thinking it would arrive soon.
  4. It depends on whether you checked the box next to SSN in the DS-260 form. How long did it take them to send the green card after entry to the U.S.? It has been 10 days for me, but the status is still “Immigrant Visa Fee Payment Received.” I am checking on https://egov.uscis.gov/, if I understand correctly.
  5. Under my name (I am the main applicant), it didn’t find anything either, but under my wife’s name it did. The status changed to issued 2 hours after the interview.
  6. Thank you! I probably misunderstood the officer, you are right
  7. I activated my visa at the border. They no longer put the I-551 stamp in the passport. The visa itself now has the annotation SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR. Next to the visa, they place a regular small blue entry stamp with the date of entry, and that is sufficient for re-entering the border. That’s what the officer told me. Also, a bit about my interview experience: I applied under the EB-2 NIW category. I prepared and brought every possible document with me. I also prepared answers in my head for any possible questions and carefully reread my entire case. However, the officer who interviewed me did not ask anything except who I work as and what I do at my job. There were a few basic mandatory questions, some small talk, and he wished me good luck in the U.S. at my new place. He was very polite. Everyone at the consulate was very polite. The stress that lasted 3 years is finally over. Thank you to everyone who gave advice. This forum is a wonderful place.
  8. @mam521@appleblossomThank you for your answers. I will rely on them if there are any issues
  9. I just can’t find a single official source where it would say that it is valid for re-entry into the United States. It says that it must be accepted by bank employees, employers, etc. but not a word about re-entry. https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/temporary-i-551-stamps-and-mrivs I don’t have a Canadian passport, and when the EB2 visa was issued the visitor visa in my passport was cancelled. So when I go to the airport to check in for a flight I won’t even have links to official sources to show the airline that I am allowed to enter the US. People who have a Canadian passport probably won’t even be asked this question because they don’t need a visa to enter, but that is not my case. Do you have any ideas which official sources could explicitly state that re-entry is allowed? All I see online are some articles on law firm websites that look like they were generated by ChatGPT
  10. Also, did you manage to do it this way? Did the CBP officers stamp your passport and confirm that you can enter the US with it for some time without having your green card yet?
  11. How many days did it take them to deliver your passports? As I understand it, your status changed to Issued on the same day. How many days later did you receive the tracking number from them and the actual delivery?
  12. For those who have already had the interview, could you please advise whether the consular officer prefers color copies of documents or black-and-white ones? I cannot find any clarification on this anywhere. I prepared color copies, but now I am worried that I might also need to prepare black-and-white ones
  13. How long does it usually take after the interview for the status to change? Is it within a day or always a few days?
  14. Did anyone get asked for a copy of their resume at the interview (EB2-NIW visa)? I uploaded mine to the NVC two years ago. Maybe they want to see an updated version
  15. Thank you for the reminder about the I-797 form. It was not on the interview document list and I just printed it and added it to my folder thanks to your message. By the way, does the consulate expect document copies to be black and white or color?
  16. Who has done a medical exam with Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas in Toronto? How quickly were your results sent to the consulate? It has been 8 days since my medical exam and I still have not received an email from the doctor confirming that my results were sent to the consulate. I think he mentioned that it usually takes about a week for his office. How was it in your case?
  17. Congratulations! Do you have the EB2 NIW category or just EB2? I am curious what questions they ask people applying under the EB2 NIW category. Do they go deep into the endeavor and ask you about your plans in the US?
  18. Who recently had an interview, please share your fresh impressions guys
  19. They didn't release the full text yet. We need to wait and see
  20. That’s okay, but I’ve seen messages here where the officer was very happy to see that a person had renewed a certificate that was a year and a half old and thanked them for getting a new one. It’s not mandatory, but personally I ordered a new one just in case
  21. I meant that Trump would not cancel Permanent Residence itself — that’s clear — but he could suspend the visa category under which we are entering. He could simply decide tomorrow and say that EB-2 no longer exists, that they do not want to see immigrants, and that you will not be able to enter the country on this visa. Exactly what happened with the DV visa: those who managed to enter received their green cards, and those who did not manage to enter can forget about entry
  22. Given Trump’s unpredictable sudden bans and his attempts to shut down any immigration pathways to the US, I would feel calmer if I enter the US, get the stamp, and then return to finish my affairs. What social benefits do you mean exactly? The only thing that concerns me is making sure I keep my public health insurance OHIP since I live in Ontario. Also, I do not have permanent residence in Canada. I live and work here based on a work permit. I hope that activating my US visa will not affect my status in Canada in any way. I plan to continue working for my employer for another two months and only then move. I believe my status in Canada should not be refused because I obtained status in the US, given that I am renting an apartment and working in Canada. What are your thoughts on this?
  23. I just had a call with my lawyer and asked her whether, after receiving the visa, I can enter the US to activate the green card, then return to Canada to finish my affairs, and later enter the US again using the stamp in my passport. She questioned this approach. She said that the officer might not let me back into the US. I am her only client from Canada. All her other clients are from Europe, and she simply has no experience with re entering the US in such a situation. AI suggests that the I-551 stamp that will be placed in the passport upon entry is a temporary green card that can be used to enter the US until the physical card is received. Is that correct? Can I safely enter the US to activate the visa, open a bank account, obtain an SSN, and then return to Canada for two months to finish my affairs?
  24. Just got the IL 5 minutes ago! My DQ is the end of October 2024
  25. Has anyone gotten the IL letter recently?
