  1. I posted this on Sunday in a couple of other threads but I guess I have some friends here too who I would like to tell.

It appears that my marriage is over already. :(

Scott has had a lot of problems adjusting to living with someone from the minute I got here and it has now got so bad that he can no longer do it. This is the third time he has decided to leave me since May – we managed to ‘talk things through’ on the other two occasions. I won’t go into too much detail but in my opinion he seems to be suffering from some kind of depression that he refuses to seek help for and I had no idea about it until I moved here.

I have now accepted his decision with grace and have chosen to move on with my life.

After much thought and deliberation about whether or not to move back to the UK I have decided to give the US a bit more of a chance first. I have my Green Card now and as long as I can prove to USCIS that I entered the marriage in good faith I should be able to remove the conditions on it after the divorce.

I do however hate living in Massachusetts so have decided to move. Based on internet research and Scott’s personal experience I have made the decision to move to Charlotte, NC.

Anyway, that’s about it really. I’m planning to spend a week in Charlotte from 24th August to find myself somewhere to live and I’ll move down permanently 3-4 weeks after that. I’ll be moving there totally alone and won’t know a soul, which is a little daunting. I’m currently reading “Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway” by Susan Jeffers, which is helping. helpsmilie.gif

I won’t be leaving Visa Journey though, I shall be here forever I imagine. :D

p.s. Anyone reading this from Charlotte.

So sorry to hear about your news English Muffin, I hope things work out for the better for you. You have been a great inspiration on here and being a fellow British i have always felt a connection towards you. I wish you the best of luck.

  2. Congrats on recent approvals!! I'm looking forward to add many :star: on my list :innocent:

A few May filers got GC approved already, hope more approvals for us!!

Well, nothing happened on my case since I got EAD, though my job hunting is going on. The interview date is just fixed... on 22nd. The company accepted phone interview since I'm in Japan. But talking over phone is more difficult than talking face to face because of my limited English... I'm getting nervous

I want to start working from September... but my dad is still in hospital, demented :( . I wish I could return US by the end of August. Too many things happened on my life at a time

Nice to hear from you K&W, hope things work out better for you. Good luck with the job interview and hope your dad gets better. I'm sure your AOS approval shouldn't be too far along.

  3. Congrats, seems you didn't need the second biometrics for the EAD afterall. Could it be they misplaced your first set of biometrics when your file was transferred?

    Thanks a lot, English Rose.

I can't figure out what happened exactly, cause my case was transferred yesterday and the notice for re-doing prints came 2 weeks ago.

There was not EAD application number on the ASC notice though - only I-485 (the first notice had both I-485 and I-765). That might be the reason it had no impact on my EAD.

Case being transferred without prints taken is stange, but I'm not gonna argue  It could be the case where they were only waiting on my 2nd set of prints, that were scheduled for the next day, so they figured it would take a week for CSC to get my file anyway and just transferred me. Who knows... :) But it looks like everything comes down to my FBI check at this point and the person at CSC of course (!).

I'm not getting overly excited yet as I know there might be RFEs coming and/or interview scheduled... But we'll see..

Most importantly - I can start working soon

This just goes further to prove that no one really knows what goes on at USCIS. Anyways Congrats and hope you get the AOS approval soon enough.

  4. Congrats Lynie!!!

    Here is my update:

Got an e-mail this morning saying EAD Approval Notice has been sent - hoping the card is in that envelope

Also got my biometrics re-done at 9 am today.

Our home is in Ohio and there was no way we could make it to Cleveland on a business day cause Michael is working here in Chicago.

Last time this happened (with my first biometrics) we were just leaving New Jersey (thought we'd be there for at least a year, but the company moved us temporarily to Chicago office) so we decided to register at home.

My first Biometrics was scheduled in Newark, NJ and we ended up doing a walk-in in Cleveland, OH earlier as we'd left Jersey by then. They took me in no problem, even though we showed up 9 days prior to appointment date.

My 2nd Biometrics was scheduled in Cleveland, OH this time but, like I said, we wouldn't be able to make it. So we went ASC in Naperville, IL as soon as we got the Notice (1 week prior to appointment) and were told that we could do it here but only on the date and time scheduled. Thank God I didn't have to fly to Cleveland!

So we went there this morning as scheduled and got it done in 15 minutes total. They didn't take my picture this time though.

Hoping we won't have to redo it again

P.S. I also updated my signature counting days, so it's easier to read.

Congrats, seems you didn't need the second biometrics for the EAD afterall. Could it be they misplaced your first set of biometrics when your file was transferred?

  5. Hello Everyone!

Pls. pls. help me about what to put on the check for the AOS payment?

Me and my hubby are ready to send it but there is one thing that is missing and that is the check. So right now we wanna make sure that what we put as a payee on the money order is correct.

I am hoping that someone can help me.

Thank you so much in advance and God bless us always!

I put department of homeland security on mine. In the guidelines to filling in the form you should find the name to address the cheque to.

  6. Just got this email update from USCIS:

"Application Type: I765 , APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

    Current Status: Card production ordered.

On July 14, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you."

Sweet!!! It's been about 6 weeks since they rec'd our RFE response.

Congrats, now go get yourself a job. :)

  7. Thank you for the congrats. We also just got this in CRIS:

The last processing action taken on your case

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

Good luck to everyone else waiting! You guys are in our thoughts!

Congrats Starlarose!!!! The EAD and AP approval now seems pointless.

  8. Hello our VJ Family! Finally, I received my biometrics appointment letter just today - almost 8 weeks after since filing date. thank God!

but as i was reading it, i notice that it only pertains to my AOS application and it only states my AOS case number at the upper right hand corner of the letter even though I applied for my EAD at the same time with the AOS. And since i experienced some delays on receiving my biometrics appointment letter, I called the uscis customer service two weeks ago to make a service request informing the national benefit center that i haven't received my bio appointment letter yet for my AOS. And just today i got the appointment letter which only pertains for my AOS application. I don't know if this the effect of the service request that i made.

Now, my question is, will this biometrics appointment be useful for both cases that i filed at the same time- AOS & EAD? Even though the ASC

letter only states my AOS case number? What should I do during my

biometrics appointment? Should I inform the officer at the ASC that I also applied for EAD (which I need so badly. Hehe.) ?

Anybody who have experienced this? Please enlighten me.

Thanks a lot! God is so good all the time!

If you got your EAD NOA, then take that with you as well. If i am correct one the NOA for the EAD it states that you will be contacted for biometrics.

That is after a late RFE and with 2nd Biometrics Appointment pending!!!

I can't help the silly smile on my face and jumping around like an idot :D

Didn't see that coming so soon considering recent complications  Wow, I can start doing stuff in this country soon - unusual feeling... Got too used to sitting around in the last 6 months

    WooHoo !!! Congratulations, Vika! :dance::dance::dance:

Congrats Vika, thats good news considering all the complications. And Congrats to everyone with approvals. Its been a healthy start to the week with all the good news.

  11. *sighs* no touches for 2 weeks :crying: my AP was last touched April 26, my EAD on May 13th and my AOS June 12th :crying: :crying:

I hope i hear from them real soon.......

Maybe most of them are on vacation for the July 4th holiday that's why this week has been slow.....

I must say its been very quiet here recently. Not much news from uscis. hoping for the best At least two more working days left this week. Good luck to everyone.

  12. :hehe:
My job hunting should have started LAST Monday but I've been bit lazy.

I shall start in earnest next week. :D

Good for you English Muffin !!! I have been hunting for the job intensively for the last 2 weeks and so far have got only a small part-time job, which isn't enough for me :hehe: It is not easy esp when you don't have an american work experience, no references to check. Well,on Monday I am having another interview - but I need RESULTS !!! :D Gosh ... it's more difficult than I expected

We haven't had any EAD approvals this week, at least I don't know about them... What's going on with April filers? It used to be on average 5 weeks after biometrics for EAD, now it seems like it is taking much longer...

Well, I guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed... I really need to start working soon :clock:

Yeah ... it has been very slow recently ... Let's hope we'll hear good news today !!! Fingers crossed for you Ella and everyone else waiting !!!

Yeah Sunnylight is right Ella, its been a particularly slow week. But hey, fingers crossed and hopefully the approvals will start pouring in again next week.

English Muffin, tell me about it. I decided to leave today and then start actively next week. I am considering change in career direction as well so its gonna be a bit difficult. Well fingers crossed.
