Hi guys with your help I am getting more information everyday. I called DOS again today and they said the Bogota embassy received our application on May 22, 2007 and sent out the packet 3 also. I am using a lawyer so I guess the lawyer will get the packet 3? Will my fiance get one too? I want my lawyer to use the short cut by sending today or Tuesday the packet 3 response by email or fax. Not sure which is better. Does anyone know from recent experience also what exactly Bogota is requesting for packet 3 (ie the new DS-2100 or just the DS-169, etc. etc.)? I know when I call my lawyer she will want to wait for packet 3 so she will only send what they request. Problem is I do not want to waste the time for the mail to get to her here in Florida. Any additional help is appreciated.

The NVC will not ship the application until the interview date is set???? I called DOS and they said our application was sent by NVC and electronically received on May 19th. That the embassy had not received the hardcopy and to call next week. I assume it means that the application was sent via dhl but that although the embassy may have signed for it they may not have entered it as received as yet. Are my assumptions wrong?

Hey guys finally was approved and the NVC has sent the file to Bogota. Called the DOS this morning and they told me that the embassy has received the electronic file but not the paper file. The NVC said they sent it on the 16th. Not sure if that means physically or just electronically. I checked the dhl site and noticed a file sent to Bogota on the 16th which was signed for at the embassy on the 19th. Well should I call the embassy direct or just call DOS next week again maybe monday to find out? Also does anyone know the website that I can check on the interviews scheduled at the embassy. I saw the website earlier but can not seem to find it again. Thanks guys. Long journey since Sept. 7, 2007 but getting there. Thanks for all the information on this forum.

DOes anyone have experience in packet 3 at bogota. What do I need to send by fax or whatever. Can it be emailed? Also my lawyer wants my fiance to scan two copies of 230 form signed for her and her two children. form 169 says do not sign? What do I do. I know I have been a pain on the forum but I do not trust my lawyer. I think she has actually caused delays. HELP!!!!!!!! Thanks for any replies.

Buck501 I noticed in your timeline your fiance went to the embassy and picked up packet 4 at the embassy. My fiance lives in Bogota and the NVC has our application now I believe (I will call latter today) since we were approved by the USCIS on May 12th. We will use the shortcut once we know the embassy has our application. My question is can my fiance still go to the embassy to pick up packet 4 rather than waiting for it to be mailed? Also when would she go to the embassy for the packet 4? I think that is the one that has the official interview letter No?
-
Thanks to everyone for the congrats. I have a lawyer but thinking of using the shortcuts myself or maybe telling her when to fax the package 3 to the embassy. What are your thoughts?

Does anyone know what instructions there are? Have not received approval as yet.
On May 12, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Thanks. Right now my lawyer has most of that information I believe for package 3. If I knew about this site earlier I would have never hired a lawyer. My lawyer says they are waiting for the letter from USCIS to arrive to them so they can follow the instructions? She says sometimes the embassy wants the information mailed to them and sometimes we will bring the information to the embassy for the interview. Not sure what the heck she is talking about. I think I will have them send all the information they have to my fiance so we can be ready to fax the information. Or I guess we can just download the forms and forget about them? It is just that the having lawyer actually seems to be slowing things down.

Hey I have finally been approved for I 129F visa started the process on Sept 7, 2007. I have read most all I can on this forum and it is greatly appreciated information. So I guess now the USCIS send info to NVC. I should start calling NVC maybe in a few days to get my number and then find out when they are sending package to Bogota. Then track the package and fax package 3 information to Bogota embassy as soon as they receive the application? Is this what I should do to speed up the process as much as possible. Would appreciate confirmation if I am correct. Otherwise would appreciate any help you experienced people can give me. Good to finally get approved but now I need to get my lady and her two sons here in Florida!!!! Thank in advance for the help.

Got approval. Checked website this morning and was approved yesterday. Got email at 5:30am this morning. Filed in Sept. so hope this is a little good news for everyone. Thanks

Well wrote earlier about my frustrations and contacted my congressman on friday and got approval on Monday. I applied for K-1 (I know not a K-3 many are waiting on) on Sept. 07, 2007. Other coincidence was that when I contacted the USCIS in April after 7 month wait on a friday they sent me a RFE on the following Monday. Well anyways I am approved now I have to figure out what comes next. My lawyer says it will be 30-45 days before they get information from NVC. I think they do not know what they are talking about. We will see. Good luck to all

I'll give an update!!
I'M STRESSING OUT! hahaha...I travel to Colombia this coming Wednesday and I cant wait to get on Colombian soil and see my hubby again...Gosh its almost been a year since I last saw him.
I arrive on the 15th around 2:00pm Colombia time. Then all the "vueltas" start! Lab then Dr. Gonzalez..then visa payments...and on Thursday, the 22nd, our interview!
One question...how many passport pictures does Andres need again? Im assuming 6 but I think I read somewhere 8?
Thanks ahead of time....and wish us luck!!
Diana B
6 is the magic number Diana...have a safe trip and "BEST OF LUCK!!!!"
Just a quick question you say 6 passport pictures but the instruction package says 4. What are the others for???

Someone said in the Colombian K1 thread that the embassy changed the OF-169 with the DS-2001 and that this form along with the DS-230 can be filed electronically.
Can someone verify this information for future members?
Diana
Diana, it looks like the embassy has changed over to the DS-2001 and they have revised their instruction packages. Now you are able to send the packet-3 forms via email. We were just assigned a BGT case# for our I-130. So I will be using the shortcuts, to find out when our case has been forwarded to the embassy.
At that time I will send in packet-3 using email and give everyone an update.
Here is the link if anyone is interested,
http://bogota.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/iv_i...ions_031908.pdf
Also there is also this line in the new inst.
“Submitting duplicate copies of the required forms will delay visa processing.”
It sounds to me, like they are referring to the double bombardment method using both fax and servientrega, for sending in packet-3.
I am just going to use email and wait for a response , they state a confirmation will be emailed back within 5 days.
I’ll wait until then and If I don’t get a response I’ll go the servientrega route.
Mike
Mike we just got approved yesterday for our I 129-F can you tell me what you mean by emailing the embassy the forms. The link shows me the forms but does not really explain how to do the emailing. Sorry if this is a stupid question.
-

Yes got an email at 5:30 this morning but I had already checked with the USCIS website and saw a notice that we were approved yesterday the 12th.

Well just thought I would let the Vermont filers know if they filed around my date I finally got approved. Filed Sept. 07, 2007 and got approved this morning May 13. Better late than never. Now hopefully the rest of the process will be a little quicker. Good luck guys, there is still hope for us.
-
Well I told you I would tell you what happened with the touch. Got up this morning and checked the USCIS website and we were approved at 5:30 am this morning. Lets hope things go a little smoother now.
-
Well maybe they thought you could not write so maybe could not find the one you love???

From the forum I agree things were better before but I was before. My story is true hopefully you will not have the same experience. I hope to God because this wrong. mY fiance also lost her job because she was on contract for the government in Bogota and thought things would be done two months ago at least. Oh well thank you USA for having me maintain more than two households.
-
Well I am not and still amazed. Even feb. filers are ahead of me? Maybe a lawyer I do not know or maybe just bad luck. I got touched so maybe something will happen do you know if that is good news after a RFE? I would imagine well better than nothing. I think I am getting close to the record with only on RFE and filing in

Just was curious if anyone knows anything about stress and fiancial hardships becaz of delays by Vermont. My lawyer asked me to give him a letter about my stress and financial hardships maintaining 2 households. I think that won't work because they do not care. I think it is just a delaying tactic for my lawyer to show he is doing his job. I think Iwill short pay him. He has only asked for patience from me. I will ask him for patience for my payment to him.
-
Actually anyone with any experience even if it is not with vermont. i am desperate and getting tired of maintaining two households at present because of the delays.
