  1. heard the saying "easier said then done" ? you know my situation based on the many posts i wrote so seriously tell me how i can change this. sounds like if u were me u would have alot of options? ok ur me.,. you have 2 kids a 3 year old and a 2 month baby..and we all know how babies r.. they cry they poop they pee they barf they dont want to be let down in the crib due to boredom ,they like to play all night long..and 3 year olds think of new things every 10 seconds and want u to go find their certain toy that they now remember they had and u have to go and take everything out just to look for that toy he will play with for 5 mins then ask u for something new..and more things he needes done aside toys.. seriously im waiting for ur answer on what u would do if u were me..maybe ill like ur answer who knows..

  2. what happenes to ur n400 after ur in the queued? does it still stay at the service center or is it moved to the DO? is vermont finished with it or does it still hold responsible for the file? just something i started to wonder after reading the posts about the service centers.

It is not in Vermont anymore...it has now been transfered to your DO - NY, NY. That probably happened months ago when your biometrics were completed.

the other thing i was wondering about is that i've read that sometimes they sent u the IL without updating ur case. somepeople said that when they checked their case status it said pending even though they r citizens now. so is it possible getting the IL without them knowing on their computer? do u know anything about that? thanks

  3. Hi,

Just wanted to start a special topic for the VSC.

It is not the worst regarding the processing time... but not the best either.

    Sent N400 on 11/19/07

    Received at the VSC 11/22/07

    Priority date 11/23/07

    Check cashed 12/20/07

    Notice from the VSC 12/26/07

Now if some of you have info regarding the waiting time for the NY office to receive the Bio and interview letter, that would be greatly appreciated. Also do we get sworn the same day? if not how long do we have to wait?

My experience is that it depends a lot on your application and background, I have been pretty lucky in the past with my GC filing... so I hope for the best.

For those who did not received their notice check the Latest Receipt Situations at Service Centers:

    http://myimmigrationblog.com/

Hope it will help some of you stuck with the EVIL VSC

    Bye!

interesting im from nyc too and have filed around ur date also..did you get the IL yet?

  4. Ha, one tempting part of getting US citizenship, maybe for the rest of us is getting out of that I-864, wife works for a large medical clinic and sees illegals getting free health care while we have to pay $14,000 a year for ours. Daughter enrolled in college, we have to pay the full amount while others get Pell grants and get to go for free. We are not eligible for food stamps, homestead property tax credit, heating or electrical assistance, medicade, welfare, and are working our tails off only to see these people hanging around street lamp posts smoking crack and having a bunch of fun at our expense. But a good share of our utility bills goes toward those that are getting the assistance.

My neighbor, a building contractor is having problems bidding against illegals that do not have the expenses he has to stay in business, ha, puts those in the position of those paying all the bills to ask why? But why fight them when you can join them? But in our case the I-864 stops that. Naw, we won't stoop that low, wife and I have the old fashion work ethic that made this country great at one time, but this sure has turned into a socialistic country.

Still the same old posts, flavaofsummer, all of us here have dealt with the USCIS for at least the last five years and are well aware of the frustrations, delays, losing our applications, getting our mates into this country, and those that made it this far are finally in the final stages. But in your case, the N-400 is only a stepping stone for you, still don't want to say what country your husband is in, what skills he has, can he even get a job, and have that very long I-130 process ahead of you. And wonder how you will even crack that, he needs a sponsor that has enough bucks to sign off on that I-864.

Recall when my wife and I were getting serious, contacted and paid a top notch immigration attorney with the options of bring her and her daughter here, form up the ying yang so to speak, but nothing was mentioned about the I-864 till the very end. Had to prepare a financial statement, but I never hesitated in signing it, but my hand did shake a little with the realization this was even more of a commitment than getting hitched. Ha, you can get out of a marriage speaking strictly legally, but can't get out of the I-864. All of us here under the marriage requirement went through that.

Wife was talking about our annual trip to go down to two different countries to see her family, but after she saw how the airline rates increased and with that huge bill we got for her daughter to go to college, she elected to go. I said we still can go, but she said no, but every Sunday afternoon, she spends an hour with her family using the webcam, I join too.

But wonder about you with all those trips you say you made to visit your husband to some unknown country, that has to be very expensive, but in the same breathe, don't have the funds to get your own apartment. It just isn't adding up. And complaining about the USCIS is like complaining about the weather. Can complain all you want, but nothing changes.

maybe u guys live for free cuz here in nyc you have to pay rent 1400 for one apartment room plus electric bills + phone line bill plus food and other expensives..how much is that per month? over $2,000+ and i didnt include the amount u have to pay in advance before moving to a new home. my one round trip was like $1,300 i go after waiting a whole year. $1,300 if u go the cheapest could pay a single months rent without the advance payment..its funny how you actually think i could move out with the money i have for the flying over seas LOL.

  5. Hi, I am aware that I would be given a date to take the oath and become a citizen of the U.S. The Interview is on mid-July, four months before the general elections. The problem is that I already have very important 'personal' plans from july 19-25 and I'm afraid that these plans, which require flying within the U.S, could get ruined by having the oath being given within that time interval. These plans cannot be moved. I want to know generally how long from the citizenship test is the ceremony.

Is there also a chance that the oath is on the same day of the citizenship interview?

its 30-90 days if no problems r there with ur n400.

  6. when u call the senator doesnt that conflict with ur interview dont they get pissy? dont they get all mad about how dare you do such a thing? or do they just act normal and not care? since you guys say calling the 800# and asking about ur case status will get them so pissed they will move ur file to the end..in which i dont know why they would or could do that cus thats immature i dont agree and i dont believe they will do this..however doing the senator thing im guessing thats a no no???

A few posts back, I said that constantly calling the IOs to ask them the status of your case will begin to tick them off...they will put a flag on your case that you are calling quite often. Moreover, I don't care how sweet you are, you will begin to get on someone's nerves. Now, on to the political option, your Senator can call and do a check for you. The only thing is you are in the NY, NY district office, which is still processing in a normal time frame and your case is not outside of the processing times. Sadly, the Senator's office might tell you the same thing. I'm sure that they're dealing with major issues that make your angst over having a November filing date, and no action, seem unbelievably insignificant. Look, one thing you have to understand, is there are people on these boards who have been waiting for more than a year to remove conditions to get their 10-year greencards. Senators have been used to help speed things up there, but most times we've seen no action on anything. I'm not trying to say that your frustration isn't understandably causing you heartburn, but it isn't justified when you live in an area that is so highly populated with immigrants.

Also, one other thing, someone mentioned that most of the people who are being processed quickly right now are marriage based applications. We (or our spouses) have all had biometrics three times within the past 3 years...so, that probably makes a big difference in the processing of cases. I have noticed on immigration.com that N-400 filers who are 5+-year LPRs, have had a significantly longer wait in background checks, interview times, etc.

You need to calm down and fill in your timeline. Are you scared to tell us where you are from? Where your husband is from? If you don't share that with anyone, no one can give you a good idea of what might really be causing your situation. :bonk:

first of all its ur case u can ask about it. its not like ur stealing anything or harming humans around..2nd is ur right maybe it takes long cus im getting it 5 years not married to a citizen. i read the new york time lines and they r 10 months its been 7 months for me so i will have to wait till september thats when it will be outside of processing times hopefully before that ill have the IL. when my mom got hers it was done including oath and everything within less then 4 months. my background check was cleared 4 months ago. im gona have to wait..however the reason i want this fast is like i've said before its very hard living with my dad.when my baby goes to sleep he makes mad noises and throws things around to make large sounds talk on the top of his lungs then the poor kid wakes up screaming i dont want to be in a place where people dont act human so u all have to understand i want my interview done fast i'll go mental, although the wait time is not in my hands or yours. so whatever right?

  7. The USCIS 800 number is just a call center. Those people are not Immigration Officers. They have a "huge book" that they look up answers to questions that people ask when they call in. If you really want firm answers, you will have to make an INFOPASS and talk to a reall immigration officer in the USCIS district office.

Or, as suggested, you can call your senator and ask his staff to check your case status for you.

when u call the senator doesnt that conflict with ur interview dont they get pissy? dont they get all mad about how dare you do such a thing? or do they just act normal and not care? since you guys say calling the 800# and asking about ur case status will get them so pissed they will move ur file to the end..in which i dont know why they would or could do that cus thats immature i dont agree and i dont believe they will do this..however doing the senator thing im guessing thats a no no???

  8. ok guys, this is one of these sad endings that i never thought i will go thru ...i did all the steps to bring my wife overseas ...and after living here and having a baby, i found out she was cheating, and the only reason she married me is to come here to the states and see her lover...this was 7 months ago ..now,i got the divorce from state now and custody

(she left with me and never asked about all these 7 months)..at first i asked a lawyer what i can do to take her 10 year green card away, he said i advice u not to do anything, because they may think (home land sec) that it was all a setup marriage..so i didnt do anything, after a month i thought of calling the ins, and asked them if i can do anything, the lady said, send all the info you can send about what happened, but you will never know if we do or dont do anything about it...now im asking you guys, it was about this time that we were going to apply for her to get her citizen ..can she still get approved if i dont sign off on it, does she need me to sign off on it? can i do anything else to stop her from becoming a citizen ?i would be thankful for any help...

i have a question did her lover have a GC or a citizen? cuz if he did why did she need u for he could have married her and bought her here ? if hes illegal then what? cuz u did mention how u dont want her to bring her people by using u or getting their visa by using u..so tell me about his visa status? how come no one replied and asked this question?

  9. call your senator and get him to look into it. nobody on this forum will recommend you to call the USCIS officers...we all know the information they provide is worth nothing.

HMO's are the same way, wife has been calling them for the last seven months and gets a different answer each time to settle an outstanding claim. I gathered the information and send them that and a very short letter. Claim settled in less than a week. I requested response by letter, people are a lot more careful when they write facts down then when on the phone. And with that letter, had proof for a small claims court if it were to go that far, no acceptable proof from a verbal phone conversation.

Only called the USCIS once after listening to instructions for three hours and another two to get hold of a real live person. Their access to my wife's case was the same on the internet, and if your application date is at least 30 days before the posted processing date, they do get quite nasty. Never called them after that.

This has not much to do with the thread, but just so you know, when you call the USCIS mis-information line, if you dial 1, 2, 6, 2, 4 (exact sequence) you will get an operator right away...not that it is necessarily a good thing anyway  I did do it a few times in the past and it worked every time, not sure it still does though.

yes thats what i do too i know what to dial and its the same 1,2,6,2,4

  10. and my time line for my husband is april2004.. so his PD is 2004 of april..now they r having the dates this month 2003 july..so hes like almost a year behind..check this out......2005 everything was moving smoothly till the dates went a year and a half backwards and then jammed on a single month for 6 months then again jammed for a few months on the same month,,so not only did it go back a year it got stuck on same month..

You don't get it...fill in your timeline. Look at your name on the screen, where it says "Timeline" - you have nothing. Write something down. Your profile is super vague. Fill us in and maybe we can help you.

they r saying its taking long cuz im in nyc the most busy state maybe they r right

    so:

    where is your husband from?

what kind of visa did he apply for?

how come you are not a citizen if you lived in US since you were 3?

does your husband coming here depends on you being a citizen? it seems like he's already being processed by USCIS.

where did you marry your husband? in US or somewhere else?

we don't know anything about your situation except you're from NYC and you hate immigration. what exactly is it that you want from people that reply to your threads? Everybody on this forum already knows it's annoying to go through the immigration process, believe me. Complaining about it doesn't make it any faster.

another thing: members of this forum usually get their citizenship based on marriage to a US citizen, which is different than your situation. Maybe it shouldn't differentiate them from people applying based on >5 year residence, but I'm sure it does matter. So you can't really compare your case with theirs.

no i dont hate immigration.. when someone asks a question to the department of anything,,they should know the correct answers since they work there. but seems like theres no correct answer so its annoying cuz we want to know and its like a mystery.

  11. im rather confused and want to know why is it that every a IO has different things to say to you when u ask the same question. and when u tell them that the previous IO had told you something else and they say "NO THATS not how things work" ill tell ya a few things i had heard from them

do you have any idea or a guess when i might be called for the interview

    (answers that differ each time)

you will be called sometime this month cuz after ur finger prints clear they have a time to send the IL sometime between 90-130 days

now in nyc the DO dates r july so in four months

i dont know you just have to wait.

with in 10 months cuz nyc has a time line of ten months they might call u in august or september 2008

the computer hasnt found a date for you yet call back in 2 weeks and ask again maybe there will be a update

they r processing ur case right now and looking at ur file.

they will call u in 6 months

and people these answers arent in order im just writing them as im remembering..so WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS? are they messing with us or r they liars or r they clueless or is this what each really believes that what they r saying is correct.

  12. I am very sorry for what happened to you. Sometimes it is hard to beleive a mother can act like this.

I would also say that revenge is not really the answer. If you let he live her life the way she wants then something will come along and bite her in the a$$ ... I am a big beleiver in treating other people as you would want to be treated...

I think you should live your life well and be a wonderful father to your child.

IrieCat aWWWWWWWWW is that ur daughter? shes so pretty

  13. Great! Just great. This is what they did with AOS just before we filed for that and according the IO it extended processing times by 6 months or so. Every time CIS does something to speed things up, we lose.

whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrr man! they can do anything even make u wear a dress and put on heels and you'll do it

  14. Hey flavaofsummer, did you get your interview notice yet???????

no i didnt get it yet. i duno why there isnt anyone on this forum who is from nyc. i have noticed that other nyc members r still waiting for their IL. i dont want to call the IO cuz that does nothing ill just have to wait..the wait gets hard cuz yesterday i had a huge fight with my mother and sis due to my parents depending on me to cook&clean while my 20 year old sis just hangs out watches tv goes on the net and talks on her cell all relaxed, i have 2 kids from which one is a 3 month old i have my own things to do..i didnt take a shower for 2 weeks cuz of the kids and they r yelling at me to clean and do the laungry? i dont understand why cant they ask their single 20 year old wasteless daughter to go do the house work its her home,, im just crashing here till i get the interview not to mention i have huge responsibilities with my children, r they blind? my mom had the nerve to say " all u do is sit on ur ###" so i told her to get lost! my dad the psycho says it out loud about how all i do is nothing. what they tell my sis is this " nothing at all " im still contemplating about this shes single on vacation doing jacko hmm why cant u tell her to do stuff u mental crack head!!!!!!! the more i wait the more i wait am i being punished? i tell my self things happen for a reason and God will never put me in this situation unless there was some good in it.

  15. Hahahaha

When I saw that somebody was annoyed because the person who asks for something "already said" I thought "why is he/she angry?" But also, when I started to answer question it was funny but now I feel like lazy people don't want to read about a concern topic and it's easier ask than do a research and spend a lot of time reading and reading...

There is a thing that maybe we forgot, the questions come from different members and we get angry like if the same member was asking and asking the same again and again...

Anyway "it's better to do stupid questions than being an stupid because you didn't ask"

ahh NO we read their names and see the same name asking the same question over and over so we get annoyed LOL!!!!!!!!

  16. i came on and have answered simple n400 questions for people that posted them but then i began to see how people r repeating the same question over and over the same day how annoying is that? but now i know how it feels since i repeated the same question i was probably annoying too. but HEY GOOD LUCK YA'LL!

  17. 2nd questions answer obviously would and is 3 THREE

and the first would be 1 one

calm down its just an application LOOL

It is a confusing question, but the correct answer is the TOTAL number of marriages including your current marriage.

exactly she has to put in the total she has to include herself like i said in my reply to her answer...LOL

  18. Hello and thank you everybody in advance.

I read M-476 but still can`t anser this question. On the form N-400 Part 7 Time outside of the Unoted States

A and B is my problem

A . How many total days did you spend outside of United States during the past five years?

    B. How many trips of 24 hours or more have you taken outside of the United states during the past five years?

Ok , I am applying based on 3 years marriage to american citizen , I haven`t been in US for 5 years. I have been here in US and my residency is since 3/15/2005 , as of today it`s about 3 years and 3 monts. How should I answer those too questions . Oooooo since I came in Us 3/15/2005 I have been only once outside of US for 7 days, 1 single trip to Canada.

In this case in question A should I put 7 days or 1 year and 9 months (but in days)?

Again they ask for the last FIVE years and I have been here only 3 years and 3 months and applying based on 3 year marriage.

    Thank you

it doesnt matter if ur not here for 5 years they ask that cuz the application is the same n400 that the 5 year people also apply to. 2nd is u have to count the DAYS u were out since u got ur GREENCARD and put in DAYS in the how many DAYS box and how many trips u put in the date of when u left and returned to the usa..in ur case u put in one trip in that line then the dates of the trip from what to what date u left/returned

keep it real! keep it simple! keep it real simple!

  19. Hello all. I'm fairly new to Visajourney, so bear with me. I just had a question in regards to the Visa Bulletin. A little background, I had an I-130 approved at the CSC last summer for my adult son over 21 It was then sent to NVC and assigned a nvc number. I've been tracking the rate of the visa bulletin as in our case we have to wait for an available visa number.

For six months or so, it was going very fast, it was always ahead one month ahead of the date that I was checking on it. But, now for the past three months it has stagnated and not moved. I'm kind of getting anxious because it is now in the same year as my priority date. Its so close yet so far. Can anyone explain the cut off date of this visa bulletin business? I would appreciate any responses. Thanks.

welcome to immigration .side effects for entering immigration.. u might go mental/psycho/insane/nervous/paranoid or maybe all of the above at once..ur visa was going well then it got jammed? thats what happens..it goes smoothly then gets either stuck or goes a year or two behind..been there felt that! u cant do anything at all about it. its up to them the way the move the dates.

  20. Hi to everyone!

I have noticed that some people were able to get the status of their case. USCIS web site and 800 number is not that helpful to see how things are moving or not moving. I would and I am sure many people would appreciate your expirience of getting updates from USCIS,

Any comments and sugestions are welcome

yes its easy call the 800# BUT when u speak to them ask them to transfer you to another line who can look at ur case status better..another words when u call the 800 and some operator picks up and asks u how they can help u ask them to get u to a IO from a transfer thats all buddy they will give u details and believe me they will give u details!

  21. im not mad at the people ofcourse. as u have i am saying why is immigration telling us to understand the processing wait times when its giving citizenship to people who applied mid2008,,why arent they told to wait why r we told to wait months.its all about what i said immigration is messed up..and oh one more thing this one time a few weeks b4 i called them and i told them i called a few days b4 and they said u can call all day all night as long as our offices r open its ur case u want to know ur status theres nothing wrong with that. before she hung up she repeated this so basically i call them but not everyday maybe like 2 weeks apart. and isnt that what they get paid for to answer calls based on peoples files? i dont know thats just my guess r they supposed to say.. "oh she called so many times hmmm lets mess with her and pull her way back hahahaha!" i really dont know r they that immature? im confused! and my time line for my husband is april2004.. so his PD is 2004 of april..now they r having the dates this month 2003 july..so hes like almost a year behind..check this out......2005 everything was moving smoothly till the dates went a year and a half backwards and then jammed on a single month for 6 months then again jammed for a few months on the same month,,so not only did it go back a year it got stuck on same month..last time i spoke to the IO he said after the fingers and background is cleared they put u in a line and that takes between 90-130 days he claims they will call me this month. and as i have said why would i want to leave the usa a country i grew up in since i was 3 years old. i dont know any other place but the usa..i cant give that up..people who just came to the usa r never going to even think about leaving so why would a person who spent his/her entire life since childhood to adult leave..we'll the point to all this is and was that people who r way behind me got their citizenship i think i have a reason to be annoyed but things happen for a reason.
