  1. Hey you can do an infopass appointment and show them what you have and ask them what is going on. How many days since you had the interview ?

Also this is my thought. I may be 100% wrong. You have an age difference factor, also they didnt interview you at AOS stage, plus you sent less evidences based on a 3 yr factor... thats why the Officer gave you a hard time as he needed more avenues to believe a legitimate marriage and living together. I am sure it would be ok ...but you may consider the infopass path

  2. in case of application based on 3 yrs they are known to ask more questions & evidence than usual. I am sure you know this already. Just gather more info and evidences of joint activity. Here is an example of a member who has given a list what he showed on N400 application based on his 3 yrs marriage. I am really impressed what he has gathered....kind of following him myself

  3. well they seperated us and asked questions from general life ...like what is the color of the bedroom ...whats her favorite color and whats urs... then they brought in my wife and asked same questions in front of me ...they try to see that you are familiar with each others ways. If you are together you should not have any problem with that. But did you apply based on 3 yrs or 5 yrs ?

  4. I think you should wait for the letter, especially if the Officer has said "" we need more documents. We will mail you the letter, it will be self explanatory. No rush with documents. Thank you, bye" "

The unusual thing is you didnot have any interview for AOS through K1 and they did not give you any hassle at that time and this is all happening during citizenship interview. Our was a impromptu marriage from B1 visa. During the AOS interview we were questioned seperately because of our age gap. But the officer was convinced and we were fine. I am almost ready to send in my N400 application and I am confident that we would be fine .

I am guessing you sent only 4 yr tax return with N400 application ? just photocopy as much as possible and be ready for the letter. I am sure some more members would add better advices. Thanks

  5. Thank you JimmyHou. So I am understanding that I can go either by the 5 yr rule ( option1) or by the 3 yr rule ( option 2 ) . my queries are :

    a) Does the 5 yr rule also means that you got GC from marriage with USC (I got my conditional GC in 2009, so it does make it over 5 years )

    b) why do you state that the 5 yr rule is easier ?

    c) regarding bills from bank/ utility services is it necessary to show bills from 2009 and bill from 2015 ?

    d) reagrding the uppper question we did change residence in middle at 2011 and did file AR-11. would the difference of address in the old bill and new bill matter ?

Thanks and I would appreciate all replies I can get...This forum has saved our lives nin the past

    . Thanks

  6. Hi all ,

I am stuck in a few parts of N-400 form.

A little bit of our case scenario... I became permanent resident (based on marriage to US citizen) in 2009, removed condition in 2011. My wife is a US citizen by birth. We didnt have money and this, that ...so I am filing N-400 in 2015. Now part 1 options for me :

    1) Have been permanent resident for at least 3 years

    2) Have been permanent for at least 3 years. In addition you have been married to and living with the same US citizen spouse for last 3 years and your spouse has been a citizen for last 3 years.

Which one should i click on ?

Also this is what my N-400 package is looking like - would that be enough ? do i have to provide our pics at differeent places , recommendation letters from friends & family ...as I did for permamnent residence application ?

  7. Hi all,

this may sound like a dumb question. My permanent residence is based on marriage and I was married in 2008. So i was eligible to apply in 2011 which i did not due to different reasons including lac of available money etc. I decided I would renew once and then apply for citizenship. I have decided to apply in december,2014 for citizenship .

Question is will they raise a hell about why did I not apply in 2011 ?

    Thanks

  8. thank you all.... i called the 18003755823 number...went to the section which is information about citizenship for legal permanent residents ...i told them that i need to know the date i filed the address change ...the customer care said they dont have access to that and they would transfer me to a specific department. I scheduled a call back as there was a wait time. They called me back and talked to a specific agent. He asked my name and my A number . I verified my address and date of birth and he gave the date the filed my address change .. Thanks to all

  9. Hi ,

I am about to file for citizenship. WE moved to this new house i did change address online with uscis. they gave me a form to save and a confirmation. My old computer has crashed and i cannot find it anywhere. I nned to know when i filed it just for the heck of my peace of mind.

I checked self check and its showing that with my present address, social and date of birth I am eligible to work in usa. Any other way to know what address USCIS has on file ?? I called USCIS and they said i have tyo make an appointment with local office and they do not have access to that. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks so much

  10. So I googled and found out OCI for me ( Indian born just becoming US citizen) and PIO for my wife ( us citizen born in USA) . Now OCI fee is 295 and PIO is 385.

Now my question is can i just apply for tourist visa to india for both of us instead of PIO and OCI ?

tourist visa for 5 and 10 yrs is $171 and 6 months is $81 only , as per CKGS. WE are planning to cut off the cost for PIO & OCI and get tourist visa and get OCI and PIO later when we come back.

    Thanks for all the help

  11. Well Thank you so much for all your replies. I have decided to go ahead and get US citizenship. Now i have listed all the prices involved...

    US citizenship - $680

    Indian Passport renunciation - 190

    US passport - 165

Then PIO /OCI for me ? and how much is the price ?

and PIO for my US wife ?

    Thanks so much

  12. Hi ,

I am an permanent resident of US ( unconditional green card holder) . My wife is USC. I got my permanent residence due to marriage to my wife. We are planning to visit India by Jan,2015. I am also planning on applying on US citizenship due to some talks from my friends and relatives. Here are some queries:

    a) Travelling to India from USA and back - Travelling as a permanent resident with US with with Indian visa VS travelling as US citizen with usc wife . Which sounbds better to you guys ? my friends and relatives told me to get US citizenship before making international travel .... that travelling as permanent resident may not be safe and may not have a easy and safe entry back to USA... also the CBP in USA POE and Indian immigrations treat US citizens and permanent residents differntly. Is there any chance like that ? I was planning to apply for naturalization next year but not before the trip.

    b) If i get the citizenship , I need and OCI card to travel to India and wife would need either Indian visa or PIO card . Right ?

    c) we have plans of retiring in India in future. In that case what are the options for me ( in case I take US citizenship) and for my USC wife ?

    d) Do permanent residents and US citizens have different lines in Indian Immigrations ? what about in US immigration ?

I appreciate all the helps and answers....thank you so much

  13. http://www.in.ckgs.us/

My wife recently applied for tourist visa of 10 years duration and we got her visa just a week ago. Its very easy process. You can do the process via mail, you don't have to go in person. Your wife needs to get US passport 1st. Also if she applies for visa, she will have to apply for renunciation of Indian citizenship.

    Good Luck!

Thank you super king. But what do you mean by "renunciation of Indian citizenship" ? my wife is the US citizen and was never an Indian citizen. I am the Indian citizen and US green card holder. Thanks
