Not sure if that will make the airline happy, would be nice if it did.  Have you used the BB letter with a one way ticket?

Otherwise airlines will want to see a return ticket or a ticket for onward travel.

Buy a cheap onward ticket to HK or  SG that departs after you arrive in the Phils, you can toss it (we call them throw away tickets) that will show onward travel to keep the airlines happy

I am not sure if I have used the BB letter yet, there was only one time me and the husband flew back together and I stayed in the Philippines already and only flew to the states when we do our taxes. Most of the time he flew alone. Will I still be able to print that BB letter and show the airline?

If you use your Balikbayan privilege for him, then he doesn't need a return ticket.  Attached is the BI Memo that states Balikbayans are exempt from the return ticket requirement.  You can search the net for a better copy.

That being said, sometimes people run into problems, so as always ymmv.

I am not sure with balikbayan though, suppose to be I'm only here in the states for 2 weeks, but got stuck because of the lockdown in Manila. This is my return flight to the Philippines and hubby wants to come with me to see the girls and I am not sure if my return flight counts as a balikbayan privilege.

When landing in Manila  we fill out a form and state there as a returning resident right?, will that be their basis for balikbayan? Sorry about the question, we want to purchase a one way ticket for him because we are not sure yet when his coming back in the states as we have other things to do in Philippines while his there.

    Thanks

  3. Just got an email from the US Embassy manila that my daughter's CRBA appointment is on June 13. I did not expect it to be that quick since I just sent all the documents last Friday. Can I reschedule the said appointment because I am still waiting on the original document of Statement of Consent from the US.

Also I submitted a copy of My husband's passport and driver's license to which I cannot have the original because he won't be here for the appointment. Will copies work. I am the applying parent and I am a USC too.

    Thanks

  4. Yes ; you have to send it to your husband and let him notarized the paper there

Yes ; you have to send it to your husband and let him notarized the paper there

The absent parent must sign the DS-3053 and get it notarized by a U.S. commissioned

notary. - Just need to clarify who are they referring to as U.S commissioned notary.

  5. Statement of Consent (DS-3053) is required for passport applications for children under the age of 16 if only one

parent is appearing for the interview. The absent parent must sign the DS-3053 and get it notarized by a U.S. commissioned

notary. The document is valid for 90 days after the date of signature. If only a legal guardian will accompany the child, a DS-

3053 from both parents is required. Download this form at http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/pdfs/DS-

    3053_Jan2013.pdf"

DS-3053 is required if you are applying for the passport and only one parent is present. Its not a requirement if you are only applying for the CRBA.

Hope this helps :). But yeah its better to apply CRBA and passport together

I am gathering all the paperwork for my daughter's crba and US passport. Both parents are USC but only me is applying for both documents. With the Statement of Consent, do I need to send this to my husband in the US and have him sign and notarized there? or can I have it notarized here. Please advice.

    Thanks

  6. Hey guys,

I am now gathering all the paperwork to apply for my daughter's CRBA and US passport in Manila. Is there any couple here that are both USC and have gone through the CRBA process. Someone has told me it is easy and not as hard if only one parent is a USC. The following are documents I will be submitting. Please comment if I need more or I don't need some of his since I am a USC too. It will only be me processing the paperwork and most of his documents will only be copies, will that be enough?

  7. My kids and I moved back to the Philippines while the husband still works in the US. We try to visit every year to see my in laws and also the husband if he was not able to come home. Last years visit wasn't hard since we only have 2 kids that time aged 5 and 3. Next year we plan on visiting the states again with 3 kids this time. Yes, I just had our third baby last December. The husband won't be able to fly back that time. We decided to either bring my mother or 1 nanny with me to help out with the kids when we go visit. My question is, which is the easier route when it comes to getting a visa.

    TIA

  10. there is a great guy here that just finished the process this last summer. Look for him in some of the newer post here. Send him a PM and he will walk you through it. His nickname is Brassballs. No kidding. Brassballs.

    Thank you!

    Thank you Hank

  11. For two American citizens it's very easy.

Print out the checklist on the embassy page and gather the documents. As I recall you need the child's birth certificate, your marriage certificate, prior divorce certificates for each of you if applicable, proof of us citizenship (passports suffice), the application for the CRBA, and the fee.

I do not believe physical presence proof is required if both parents are US citizens, but proof of 5 years physical presence in the US is required if only one parent is USC and the other is not.

When we got our daughter's CRBA they asked us if we wanted to apply for SS card and we did. You'll need it for filing taxes. We also submitted the US passport application at the same time we applied for CRBA.

Fill out and gather all the documents and submit them together. For our kiddos we also and as a bonus got them Indonesian passports so they're dualies.

    Good luck!

    Thank you so much!

  12. Hi everyone,

Has anybody done the following recently, CRBA, Passport and SSN, can you please walk me through the process.

I just gave birth to our 3rd child here in the Philippines. I went to the US embassy manila website, but the requirements are a bit confusing and this my first time doing it. I am a dual citizen (american - filipino) and my husband is american. I did call the embassy but i did not get much info from the agent and was told to just submit what's on the website.

    TIA

  14. Hi Everyone,

Our 3rd child will be born here in the Philippines in December, I don't know how and what the process would be in getting her SSN, US Passport and Birth Certificate since this is my first to deliver a baby here. My other 2 were born in the US. Both me and my husband are USC.

    Thanks in advance!

  15. Hello everyone!

My daughter's US passport is expiring on May 2015. We fly back to the US on April 2015. We are currently based in the Philippines. My question is, will her US passport still good for the upcoming trip, given that it has only a month and a half before it expires? or should I need to renew it before our trip? If so, what will be the process? This will be my first time renewing a US passport in the Philippines.

    Thanks in advance!

  16. U.S. ANNOUNCES ‘NO VISA’ POLICY FOR FILIPINOS

By adobochron on April 22, 2014

    image26.jpg?w=300&h=220

Washington, D.C. - The State Department today announced a life-changing new policy for Filipinos. Visas will no longer be required to travel to the United States. The policy to take the Philippines off the list of countries that are required to obtain visas for travel to the U.S. is effective immediately.

The new policy comes on the heels of a recent survey showing that an overwhelming majority of Filipinos have a favorable view of the United States. The Philippines ranked first in a global survey on the image of the United States worldwide, beating even the U.S. itself when it comes to a favorable view on the American people.

According to the 2013 Global Attitudes Project of the Pew Research Center in Washington DC, the Philippines got an 85 percent score, the highest, when people were asked “Do you have a favorable or unfavorable view of the US?”

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that the State Department made this monumental decision as a way to reward the Filipinos for making the U.S. really look good in the survey.

With this new policy, the U.S. is now added to the list of 25 countries which do not require travel visas for Filipinos. These countries include most of the Philippines’ Southeast Asian neighbors as well as some countries in Latin America including Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and Bolivia.

The “no visa” policy comes just in time for the visit to the Philippines later this month by U.S. PresidentBarack Obama.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Manila asked that Filipinos refrain from calling the consular office to avoid its phone system from crashing. Instead, people are being asked to download and complete the biographical form and submit it to the embassy, along with four 2×2 colored ‘selfie’ photos at least one week before they depart for the U.S. The biographical form will be filed by the embassy for reference just in case Filipinos overstay in the U.S. The no-visa policy for Filipinos is good for 60 days stay in all states except Alaska.

  17. Hi Guys!

It's been a while since I posted here and this forum has been so helpful on our journey! If things go right, we may have to start a new journey. My aunt's son normally stays with us whenever were here in the Philippines. Most of the time we raise him while his at our house and treat us like our own. On the other hand, his mom just comes and visit once in a while because she loves to travel and stuff with her friends. She told us that she is moving to Palawan to manage her friend's resort there and my cousin refuses to go with her and instead wanted to stay with us. His mom already knew he wasn't going with her. His only 15 years old and studying here in Gensan and I understand why he prefer to stay here than moving with his mom. Now my question is, if we wind up taking care of him, we will be his guardians and we plan on executing guardianship legally. We love to travel and once a year we all fly back to the states for a visit and we don't want my cousin left alone here at the house while were gone. Is it possible that we could bring him with us when we fly back to the states on a tourist visa if we have the guardianship?

  18. I agree with you 100%! The only reason people post selfies is to fish for compliments. I hate it when someone captions their photo "I look ugly" or "I'm getting fat". Seriously? No dumb person would post their photos if they really look ugly or fat. They just want to see comments like "awww you look pretty" or "you're sexy, what are you talking about". Augh!

    Absolutely!devil.gif

  19. What about Filipinos taking pictures of the food before they eat so they can post it on Facebook and Instagram? Does that annoy you too? hahaha!

It does, isn't? Sometimes its just too much and not appropriate anymore.
