what happened to you was weird... I called them a total of a few times so far, and I've had no problem... maybe you should try calling again and perhaps you would be connected to someone nicer... good luck, or you can make an infopass appt

  2. I started my N400 process back in December 07 and have my interview date in June in Portland Or. I came over on a k1 and never knew anything about selective service until the N400 application process. I did not get my green card until after I was 26 - will that justify me not needing to sign up? Also does anyone know if for tax purposes taking transcripts is ok in lieu of the 1722 form requested or are they the same thing?

I don't know anything about the selective service cuz I'm not a guy sorry~

and I think we can either take 3 years tax transcripts or our copies of the past 3 years US tax return. Have you request tax transcript copies yet? is it free?

My interview date is 6/11/08 in the afternoon, I wonder if I would be able to take oath the same day...

  3. Hi All

I have been reading a few threads on this board, and others, where mention has been made about spouse being at the Citizenship Interview. ( if you are applying based on marriage of course)

There is no mention of this in the Guide that I have read, so I was wondering does this really make a difference, and like someone posted on another thread, could it expediate your decision if your OH is there, or even in the waiting room outside?

Also, is it an option to have your spouse in the interview room with you, or do you have to go in by yourself.?

Just curious, as having the OH there would keep me calm ^_^

    thanks

    Jelly

I am curious about it too, my interivew is on June 11, I will have my husband to go with me as I want him to be there hehe~~ but I wonder if he can go in to the interview room with me~~ anyone know?

  4. I have completed the adjusment package for my Dad including I-130. I-485, I-864, I-693. I had him do the medical checkup already, photos taken. So I will be sending the whole package of the sealed medical report, affidavit of support and all supporting papers, the relative petition and adjustment of status forms etc. and all the supporting papers. Just make sure you make 2 copies of the whole package so you know exactly what you sent. Hope I helped. Good Luck .

I've been doing a lot of research on how to get green cards for my parents. "Gini" is very right about what applications we have to file if your parents are here in the US - I-130, I-485, I-864, I-693, and G325A (required for people 14-79 years old), and I-864A (my spouse is the co-sponsor and we filed joint tax return)

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to get the green card from the date that I mailed the applications?

  5. honda99,

All you need to do is send the I-130, your naturalization certificate, your birth certificate that shows both your name and your mother's name, forms G-325A for each one, photos and a check for $355.

Depending on which service center you mail it to, it can take from 6-9 months for them to approve your petition. Then it'll be sent to the NVC where it will take between 2-3 months to process. Then they might be able to assign her an interview date with the embassy. Then your mom goes to the interview, she will probably get her visa approved, she will go through POE here in the States and 2-7 weeks later she will receive her green card.

This whole process can take up to a year.

    Diana

what about the affidavit of support?? is it required eventually??? thanks a tonnnn!

  6. i applied in novembers end and already got my fingerprints done in febuary and now im waiting for the interview letter. i called them they said i should hear from them within 7 months over all starting with when i sent in my application.. so by june i should hear from them,, im rather confused about that cuz for my state and all states if u check their local offices all the dates they r doing the n400 r june 30 2007. whats the deal with that? and r they telling the truth about the 7month perioid? does anyone know anything about this can u explain it to me?

I think you should ignore the processing dates for your local district office... it doesn't give you much info but to confuse you... the best way to find out your case is to call USCIS or make an infopass appointment. When you call USCIS, you should ask them your status, eg. did you pass your background check, if the answer is yes, that means you should be in queue for interview... you could try check your status online, but my receipt # can't pull up any info... and when I called and gave my receipt # to the first person I talked to, he/she couldn't find ANY info on my receipt #, then he/she said would transfer me to another person to get more info on my case, I guess that was an IO. Anyway, good luck, and do call them!

  7. Hey Kiwis!.

Looks like the journey is finally over for you..Congrats!!!!...Do you mind giving me feedback on the interview since we have thesame District Office(Portland)....

Will be looking forward to hear from your experience...

    Thanks

My journey to citizenship is not getting THAT close yet... I will let you know when I actually GET the IL... and I can let you know about the interview too~ now I just can't wait till I get my IL and I am hoping the interview date is the same as the oath date...

My receipt # is a LIN*00XXXXXXX, so that makes it 13 digits including *

I am still a little skeptical about what the IO said to me on the phone that my interview would be within the next 30-45days, cuz if he knew the IL was dated 4/18/08, he should be able to see from the computer the exact date of my interview... but he just said "next 30-45days" --__-- is he not allowed to tell me the date on the phone?

  8. I applied in September, 2007, have had my fingerprints done, and have heard nothing since.

I heard it can take anywhere up to 18 months or 2 years for approval, so I'm not going to hold my breath.

    Good luck.

I just called USCIS, I can't get any info for my receipt # online. Anyway, the IO says "I have a good news for you, ....April 18, and your interview should be within the next 30-45days" Then I asked if he meant the IL was dated 4/18/08, and he said yes. So I hope to get my IL within next week.

  9. Hey,

Yes mine said 180 days also...I am not sure how long we'd wait, because I browsed around this forum and some people got their interview letter like 2 weeks after finger prints...see here.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=113403 and the user is ives_domain.

I even checked the person Dist.Offices's processing times which is thesame thing as ours, but I wonder why his went pretty fast...I heard the FBI name clearing sometimes goes by the country of origin because they spend more time profiling people who are from certain countries like(china,e.t.c)to profile in terms of export laws...and middle eastern.....Not completrly sure why it may take some longer and some less...FBI wont even tell us why even if you ask....

Let me know when you do the infopass interview?...

I did see some post here or in immigrationportal forums that some people received their IL within a month after their fingerprint... I don't know why it's SOOOO FAST... I'm not sure if the country of origin matters regarding the FBI background check, but I think if your name is very common, then maybe it'd take a little longer, I am Asian, my name is not too common I think, but anyway, I just can't wait till I get my IL!

  10. Hey Kiwis,

How was the info pass?..let us know how it went.....

    Goodluck

I finally went to the infopass appt~~ I checked in at the counter, then the lady told me to sit in front of one of those windows, then not too long after, the same lady came and asked how she could help, so I told her I want to check the status of my application, then she took my letter (NOA) and brought it into a room, then few minutes later, she came back and told me she asked another person about the status on my case and was told that I am in queue for the interview, and I should get the IL within 1-2months... then I asked if my background check is cleared, she then said let her look up my fingerprint, she looked it up on the computer and then fingerprint was good, and then she said since I'm in queue for the interview, everything should be cleared...

my conclusion is... the lady that talked to me might not know much about my case, but she asked someone else who sits inside the room (on the left side from where i sit in front of the window), and I hope what I was told was truth~ now I just gotta wait patiently... as soon as I get my IL, I will let you all know.

By the way, my relative's friend who filed in the beginning of December 2007 received her IL in the beginning of April and scheduled 5/5/08 for interview~

  11. Hi Kiwis,

    Thanks

hey just wonder did your NOA says how many days you would expect to have the interview??? cuz mine says 180 days.

I wish I heard something back! I could never get this thing out of my mind, I can't wait to go to the office this Friday to find out more, hopefully they won't tell me "your case is in process, that's ALL I can tell you"... then it'd be a waste of time! and money! (time away from work) I'll let you know what I find out at the office, let you know if the staff there are helpful!

  13. Hi there,

Just wonder if anyone out there filed the N-400 at NSC (Nebraska Service Center) around December 2007 and received their interview letter???

    OR

Anyone's district office is Portland, OR and filed N-400 at NSC recently and got some notice???

    My case:

Dec 07: Mailed N400 to NSC

12/26/07: Received date (notice said expect to get interview notice within 180 days, anyone got something like that?)

    01/26/08: Fingerprint date

    now waiting...

    Thanks! Please share your case~~

    Hi Kiwis!,

    from Portland,OR also,Just sent my N-400 on March 24th

Still waiting. It looks like from your case,it seem to go faster.

Hi, I don't know about faster... a lot of people got their fingerprint done very soon after they turned in their applications! Let me know when you receive a notice from USCIS, I want to see if it says how long you'll get another notice from them about your interview, cuz mine said 180days... not sure if it's right...

    Hey there,

I just check my bank and they cashed the check.

    Mailed N-400 3/24/08

    Check cashed 3/28/08

I think as soon as they get checks, they'll deposit it right away! cuz it's non-refundable, but of cuz they have to make sure you pay the correct fee amount. I am waiting, but I'm very impatient, I'm going to infopass appt on 4/11/08... see what i can find out.

So what is the "infopass" appt?...is that the interview?..if it is the interview,I think your case went pretty fast.ANd let me know what they usually ask.

    Thanksa..

infopass is not an interview!! I wish!!!! infopass is an appointment that you can set up in www.uscis.gov, you could talk to an immigration officer at the Portland Office on Broadway ask them questions that you have regarding anything...

  15. 1) My NOA1 said 180 days...

    2) Do you know how you find out whether your name check has been cleared at FBI???

    3) After I got fingerprinted, the next time I will hear from them is a letter to the interview? is that it? or do they send some other notices in between fingerprint and interview time???

4)Is there any way to find out the status besides all they say is "in process", could they give me more solid answers, eg. next step is background check, your file has sent to DO, etc... that'd help more.

    1) add 180 days to date of NOA letter - and you theoretically can start complaining to USCIS then

    2) there used to be a way to call FBI, but they dont take calls anymore, but you better not bug FBI unless you know that people with PD later then yours are getting interview letters from your local office

    3) yes after fingerprints you wait for interview letter

    4) the only guaranteed way - is INFOPASS as i said, you can make them as many as you want, but it only makes sense to worry if your PD is coming up in your local office, until then it will be just waiting in line like everybody else.

Detailed explanation of USCIS N400 FBI Name Check http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=136848

Thank you so much for your respond and help! I called FBI today and check on the status on my fingerprint, they just said my fingerprints was sent to them on 1/26/08 (date that I took FP), and they have sent it back to INS... that's all they could tell me when I asked "does that mean my FP was good?"

I made an infopass appt on 4/11/08, so I'll see if I could get more info...

It sucks that I can't check the status of my name/background check...

I'm new to this site, I think I added my timeline, not sure if it's gonna show up.

  16. We got an interview appointment today!!

The notice arrived in our mailbox today, Mar 27. It's dated March 24. The interview appointment is set for May 30. Other details are in our timeline below.

We're being processed through the San Francisco office. This is faster than we expected!

wow, your case is super fast! you're so lucky! you even applied for it later than me too! congratulations!

  17. if it was first person to answer phone - it's not officer, she has same info as we see online, and they give generic answers.

to speak to officer - guaranteed way - is to make INFOPASS, but don't make it untill other people with PD after yours start getting interview letters.

nobody will guarantee you any date, the only set promise can be your NOA1 - how many days does it say?

I think the person I talked to on the phone was an IO, becuz I had to wait for about 15 mins to connect to one... and I believe she said she was an IO.

    My NOA1 said 180 days...

Do you know how you find out whether your name check has been cleared at FBI??? After I got fingerprinted, the next time I will hear from them is a letter to the interview? is that it? or do they send some other notices in between fingerprint and interview time???

I'm waiting to get my citizenship so that I could travel to another country for more than 6 months... that's why I'm so rush to get it, or else I wouldn't care... Is there any way to find out the status besides all they say is "in process", could they give me more solid answers, eg. next step is background check, your file has sent to DO, etc... that'd help more.

  20. Mailed N400: Middle of December, 2007

I filed at NSC, I wonder anyone filed around my timeframe?? Any prediction as to when my interview will be?

Your individual timeline depends on your Local Office, you can find answers if you follow links in this FAQ: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1658899

    Thanks for your respond~

I called CIS today and talked to an immigration officer, she said my case would take about 6 months to process, when I asked her if my name has cleared in FBI, she said she doesn't know, and that because of the "privacy act", it doesn't show on the computer, or something like that... she said call back if i don't get any letters after 6 months... so it's not helping a lot... i sure have asked if she's sure it'll only take 6 months VS the 14-16 months showed on the official site... so how can i find out if i have pass the background check???
