Hey guys. New to the club that none of us want to be in We got DS-5535d on May 3, I thought it was going to be a quick turnaround and recently learned it won't be. Very sad and hope they get their ####### together soon 😭😭
I was given 201g on May 8th. I am not sure if most people would be waiting for>6months or if this forum is collection of people who waited for longer time since people waited for a few weeks without any urgency of getting the visas probably wont bother with coming here to learn more about it. The sample size on that spreadsheet is very small compared with >300 visas issued monthly from MTL.

Flagging this again. Please make your voice heard. The more we make noise the more likely this is to get attention and move.
Most immigration applications have been shortening timelines, so it seems like the administration wants to shorten timelines, they probably just don't know this is a problem.
Plz help send a comment to the administration per below.@Leo The Great @Sisa24 @CL23 @JanMontrealDS5535 @cala2023 @frhm @julia_29387 @Halioak @Gha @tas005 @yvesemma @ak47 @Phil_K_IR1

DOS seems to have opened an inquiry on DS 5535 in the last few weeks. I think this is a good sign.I am positive if enough of us complain about the process they may staff up more people or change the process altogether. Please state your case and how unreasonable the process is.
From what I understand, to submit comments you need to follow these steps:
1. Go here: https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PRAMain _>
2. Use the Find functionality of your browser and look for entry "Supplemental Questions for Visa Applicants" or OMB Control Number: "1405-0226".
3. Click "Comment" next to the entry you found.
4. Submit the comment. Make sure to cite specifically Montreal and DS 5535 and long timelines.Thank you for innitiating this. Provided my comment, but I do expect the gov to take longer than AP time to process the comment and hopefully they can come up with a reform by 2050.

Mine was because of Military service. My son was because of name similarity. Yes, I got DS5535. No, nothing else.
Hi David, are you still waiting for your AP to be cleared? Thank you!

No matter what CO told you in interview regarding AP processing time (Other folks in AP have been told similar timelines during the interview in Montreal but still stuck in AP since April 2023 or earlier - it is not in control of consulate as AP clearance for such cases is done in DC), But in actual With Resume only, it takes around 5-6 months to complete AP and with DS-5535 + Resume it takes longer few months to more than a year for majority of cases in Montreal.
This is so dreadful.

Decided to start a thread to share my timeline. E1 visa type, DQ at NVC in 10/2023, expedtied approved by MTL and got IL on April 19. Interview date was May 8th. My case was put into AP under 221g. Was asked to fill online DS5535 form and submit my CV. I emailed my CV to montreal-iv-dv@state.gov on May 10th.
CEAC case status shows updates on May 9th, 10th, and 13th. No response from MTL yet.
During the interview, I asked the CO how long the AP will take. He asked how long it took in my previous F1 and B1 visa, I said a couple of weeks. The CO said it may take similar amount of time.
Will keep updating.
Asked congressman to inquire about my case on May 15th, CEAC case last updated date changed to May 16th. No change on status

We also got DS-5535 and Resume request for IR5 category(Oct 2023). Consulate issued a visa to mom but served 221g to dad. Hoping other visa will be issued by end of this year.
Hi, I was also asked to send CV. How did you send it? Did you get an email from them or just send it to montreal-iv-dv@state.gov? Thanks!

I was asked for my CV only (without DS-5535) and I've been waiting for 9 months now.

If the Resume is listed on 221g then provide them via email in the reply. May be wait for day or two for email. It is better to ask questions in Ds-5535 group as indicated in above post.
Thank you!

Was it a 221g or a DS-5535? Did you check your junk mail? You might want to pop onto the following thread because I think someone else had the same issue with needing to e-mail something related to the 221g.
Thank you! I think it is a 221g from what I see on the slip. The VO checked the box of 221g and a sub box which specifies what docs are needed.

Hi, my case was interviewed at MTL yesterday was handed a 221g form. I was asked to fill out an online form and email my resume to them. HOWEVER, there was NO email address given to me. The visa officer gave me another link (https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=dFDPZv5a0UimkaErISH0Sy1YoH0qhFtLmlsn5fRWtORUM1VNMVlYWFAzNldZRU5KUjgwTjhFOVFWTCQlQCN0PWcu) to fill out a form and said I will receive an email, and I could reply to the email with my resume attached. I did fill out the form but have not received email. Is it the normal process, or if anyone knows a valid email address I can use?
Thannnnnnnnks!

If you have F1 or B1 previously and CO need to investigate any violations of those visas, Majority of those cases are handled at consulate level and may take 8-12 weeks.
Your travel history during the last five years also a factor for DS-5535. But if your place of birth is MENA, China or Pakistan, then there is a high probability of getting DS-5535. If your field of study or work is in TAL, that is another reason to ask for Resume. DS-5535 cases takes from few months to more than a year to resolve.
Thank you! I check all the boxes. Will take forever to process

Hi, I am going to have my E1 visa interview at MTL consulate this month. Based on my previous F1 and B1 visa history, I suppose I should expect an Administrative Processing as the outcome. Does anyone have an idea of how long it typically takes to clear? I know it varies case by case but wanted to seek any info if possible. Thanks!

Has anyone seen reports of anyone from any categories getting letters this month for May interview dates? There has been none that I have seen and still no update on the website in 2 months. It is so wild how inconsistent they are with everything... I wish I could understand the logic to help have a better guess of when we will be called....
No.

No IL.
No response to emial inquiry.
No update on the wait time website since Feb.

My case was granted expeditious processing at the Montreal Consulate a little over 2 weeks ago and I was wondering what the timeline will be to get a IL. Would appreciate if anyone had went through the same process to share their experience.
More details about my case:
Visa Type: F2B
Priority Date: 11/2015 (Current)
DQ: 12/2020
Status in CEAC: READY
Any input would be really appreciated!
Did you hear anything back from the consulate? Thanks

My guess is once someone needs to wait for >3months, there is a good chance that they would need to get new medical exam or police certificate, which further delays things.
