  1. Hey Minnew...

I did notice your interview dates are a week later than ours. Let's hope for an easy interview and medical process... we will let you know how it goes!

    :star:

Just wanted to chime in... our interview is in Vancouver on 5/19 and doing the medical on 5/20. I'm excited about spending 3 days in Vancouver with my hunny!

Hello BradnKim! Good luck on your interview! Let us know how it goes on the 19th and 20th! That's exactly how I am scheduling things as well except 1 week after you!

  2. So, my Canadian husband will have his medical and K-3 interview at the Vancouver consulate. He will join me in the US after that and we are keeping the CR-1 moving too but that has to be at the Montreal consulate. My question is about the medical... I know that normally you get a medical for the CR-1, but since we are getting one in Vancouver for the K-3 visa can we just get an extra copy of that one (what would that cost?) or will we have to get another complete medical just before the Montreal interview?

Has anyone else had their applications processed at two different consulates?

  3. I just got our NVC #'s yesterday, so the I-130 hasnt actually gone to Montreal yet, but it will obviously after NVC processes it. If we decide to just go with the K-3 do you know where I can find a good list of step by step things that we need to do? And also, would we just not respond to the I-130 correspondence from here and just continue the K-3?

    Thanks!

This is correct, K-Visas can be interviewed for in either place however, Montreal is the only consulate that handles immigrant visas, K-Visas are Non-Immigrant.

You could interview for the K-3, and then interview for the CR-1later. You already paid the fees for the CR-1 to NVC ($470) if you do just the K-3 and adjust status you will be tossing the $470 paid to NVC and be paying another $1010 to adjust status and waiting MONTHS to get the green-card, it may be more cost effective to peruse the CR-1 through Montreal even with the added travel costs.

  4. Hello everyone...

I'm at a loss here... all along I figured we would follow the CR-1 route and try to use the K-3 interview date at the end hoping the I-130 would get to the embassy by the appt. date. Now when getting our NVC numbers from the NVC operator I am finding out that our I-129 went to Vancouver and our I-130 went to Montreal... so obviously we cannot use the K-3 interview date now for the CR-1, (am I right?). So, someone with some experience please verify for me that we have to make a choice right now which route to go... correct?

We are now leaning toward the K-3 since we are tired of the wait. I understand that we will have to do the AOS when he gets here and can't work until we get EAD. What are the next steps in the K-3 process though... I'm lost since I've been thinking all along that we would do the CR-1. Can someone post a list of the steps for K-3. I was looking for a good timeline on someone's signature, but didn't find any.

Thanks for your input or help !

  5. Damian,

I am in the same situation as you. I am the sponsoring USC and my kids' dad died 2 weeks ago, leaving them with no healthcare (he had always paid for it). My kids are now eligible for county sponsored healthcare, and I do meet the poverty quidlines for the affidavit of support, But I am worried that Immigration will have a problem with the kids receiving county healthcare. Do you know anything about this kind of situation?

    Thanks,

    Kim

OK, so I just got an email from 'er indoors posing a question with regard to her income. Her job by itself doesn't pay enough (which is why we went with a co-sponsor for the K-1) but now, things have changed.

Unfortunately, her ex-husband committed suicide last month, and apparently the kids are now entitled to something called "survivor benefit" until they graduate high school. I won't go into the exact figures, but suffice to say that if it's able to be counted as household income, then we'll more than be able to meet the 125% poverty line, and can dispense with the co-sponsor.

The only thing that concerns me slightly, is that this income will be seen (quite rightly) as exclusively for the kids' benefit, and as such, will mean that we can't count it as general household income.

Any info from anyone in the know on this would be greatly appreciated.

  6. I am the USC petitioning for my Canadian husband to come to the US on a CR-1 visa. I have 2 teenagers from a previous marriage and their father was paying me child support and providing full medical coverage. Now I am left without support for them and also I cannot affort medical coverage for them. There is a program in California called "Healthy Families" that people are trying to convince me to sign them up for. I did find that it is considered an SCHIP. The program sounds great, but I am worried about it affecting my affidavit of support for my husband to come to the US. The kids' coverage will end at the end of this month and I am in a panic over what to do.

Any help would be so so very appreciated! Thank you all !

  7. We are right here with you! Starting to feel hopeless in all of this! Come on CSC... I thought they were suppose to be so much "faster" than VSC! What the heck?! :crying::crying::crying:

wow , activity in this thread has taken a dive!

Am i the only one still following this thread that still hasn't got the i-130 noa2 yet? Whats going on in Cali!? There are January filers getting their Noa2 in 30 days! This is rediculous.

    grrrrr

  8. So we have our NOA1 for our I-130 dated 10/28/08 and our NOA1 for our I-129f dated 11/14/08. When I click on our timeline it says that our files should have been approved sometime in January. I see tons of applications with NOA1's after our dates being approved. Is it too early to call USCIS? I don't even know what number one would call to inquire about our files... Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kim

  9. Hello,

Here's the deal. My Canadian husband stayed with me in the us for abou 7 1/2 month and then went back up to Canada to start the K-3/CR-1 process. We only have our NOA1 on both petitions so far. The father of my 3 teenagers passed away suddenly yesterday and my husband would like to come down for support for the kids and I. He will be their only father figure now. Will immigration have a problem with him coming with just a round trip ticket and a letter from his job saying he's coming back? Second question. This is catastrophic for my family and my kids as their dad provided half their support. Would this qualify us for an expedite seeing it is going to be a huge financial hardship on us now... not to mention the emotional hardship of the kids losing their father. My husband would like to be here to be supportive and a father figure to them.

    Thank you

  10. Congratulations! This gives me renewed hope that ours will come soon... It seems that CSC has been skipping over ours and approving later files. My fingers are crossed! :star:

I can't believe this !!! I am shaking and running around looking for someone to hug !!!

Got home from a long day at work, was all depressed, and went to check the mail box. Right there is a letter from the NVC stating my I-129F had been approved and within a week the paperwork would arrive in Kiev Ukraine!

After a few shouts and a few tears, I woke up Ksenia (9 hour time difference) and told her the news. We still have so much left to do but ... I am walking 10 feet off the ground !!!

No email ... no movement on the USCIS site either

A big collective hug to all my new friends here. I really appreciate your kind words and support so much! (F)

  11. You're not alone in your wait here. Our NOA1 for our I-130 is October 28 and we are still waiting as well. I see lots and lots of October and November filers getting approved and even some December ones. It's getting depressing! :crying:

    man...so many approvals lately.

Still waiting here though, filed the I-130 ~20th Oct to CSC. Like emo4krisi says...don't try to find logic in their work flow, it doesnt really make a lot of sense.

  12. Congratulations on the beginning of your new life! Happy travel :star:

So we are off to Caravan from Northern Saskatchewan to Katy Texas this weekend. We have a 10 year old and a 8 month old we will try to keep entertained as we trek! lol

We are taking what we can in our two minivans and will transport the rest this summer. It should be an interesting journey. I think we are going through Portal so I will post how it went entering on our K3/K4's! My husband usually makes the trip in 2 1/2 days - we are planning to take 4 days or so.

    Wish us luck!

  13. Thanks for the quick response! Good to know... I just know that they always say to send in the most current version, so this had me a little confused!
