  1. just a suggestion and saw it from other threads, recent mails on either both names with y'all address.

and regarding the ATT, we're also using ATT for our cellphones, Internet, and home phone and those bills are all under both of our name so it was a fat lie that they can't do that to you.

While Im reading your reply Im on the phone calling AT&T....grrrrr..we called them twice and said they would only let me be like an authorzie user. So they cant print my name on the wireless bill....ITS CRAZY!! Wht did you do to make sure you both have your name on the bills??

  2. Having a joint bank account at your local bank has nothing to do with your credit, correct me if I am wrong

Second I would send some tax transcript, call the IRS and have them fax them to you... this is one of the good evidence

did the spouse change name? any common credit cards? SAM's Club membership? Christmas or Hanukkah greeting cards

Well we are not 100% certain about the credit and joint account. But most of the bank representative said that it would be an issue. So why take the risk.

and for the tax trasncript. Hubby filed for tax last month only as single. And i filed too since I got a 1099 for my first check (2weeks pay for December) funny though...heheh im getting a $ 2 refund....good enough to buy hubby ice cream..lol

i havent changed my name yet becuase I cant go to SSN and change it too...my I-94 is already expired. I dont think they would accomodate my request.

Oh let me add also, that we cant apply for credit cards. First is because hubby has bad credit.Second they wont approve any of my request (even at macys) becuase I dont have any credit records yet....

We do have wedding cards and birthday cards from friends.

  4. Hey everyone...

I'm in a situation where stress, anxiety and procrastination have met together and immobilized my progress of getting (applying for) a K1 Visa...

I have done hundreds of hours of research...

I feel fairly confident in my ability to cross my t's and dot my i's....

a lawyer wants to charge me a flat fee of $750...

I also want to take a trip to see my baby in Nottingham... which would cost about that much...

    What should I do?

    Is a lawyer necessary?

What were your experiences? With or without a lawyer?

It really depends. If you seem to be confident and think nothing is too complicated then you can do it on your own. You just have to dig in and do more researching.Visajourney has everything. We nver hired a lawyer. We just followed the guides and read experiences from our vj members. If you dont know what ur doing u can always ask. I heard from a lot of members that lawyers only slow the process.

  5. Hey there! I am pretty much in the same stage you are in, prepping everything for the upcoming interview. But from what I've heard, pictures are very important. Bring lot's of them showing the 2 of you together. Trips, family occasions, holidays, etc. In my case, we do not have joint bank accounts or any bills with both our names, but we do have the health insurance and the lease. I went a little overboard in the affidavit department, I think I have over 20 of them from friends my husband has known for years. But in any case, gather lot's of pictures and photo albums. I have a feeling the rest is pretty subjective and differs from one situation to the next.

    Good luck!

Oh oh...pictures..yes thanks...I got lots of them. Pictures wirh our common friends and family. trips and also our wedding pics.=P

  6. Hello earthlinks....

I thought of listing down proofs that my hubby and live under one roof so that when our interview comes we are atleast prepared for it.If you have

any thoughts or additional infos....by all means....

1- Rental lease (with both our names plus 2 couples who shares with us)

    2.Electric Bill (both our names)

3.Gas Bill-(under my name only. The company wont let us have both our names in the bill)

4AT&T wireless & Internet Bill(both our wireless numbers are in the bill but only his name with our address.at&t said they cant include my name in our bills. It has to be either one of us only)

5.Some recpts we both like our bed when we first purchased it.

6.Affidavit from 2 people we know( this will be prepared once we have an interview date.

7.I am his benificiary in his life insurance at work.( we will try to get a copy or a letter from his job )

Ok I know most of you will say we need a JOINT BANK ACCOUNT and JOINT HEALTH INSURNCE

Well, for our health insurance, my hubby cancelled health insurance from work and isntead we are planning to get some other insurance soon. Any advise? We are hoping for something affordable. The insurance that they offer in his work is too expensive.

And as for JOINT BANK ACCOUNT, we both have our separate account with the same address. Hubby filed for bankruptcy last year and we thought that if anyone does a credit check, it will be complicated for both of us. Instead we are working on his credit now. Well he never wanted to file for it.....He had no choice. His friend died in a car accident using hubby car. and yes it was an expensive car. No one wanted this to happen =(

We are assuming we're getting our first recpt this week. We sent our package on the 13th of this month. And according to UPS they recieved our papers on the 17th. The check was not encashed yet.

I forgot to mention. he is above the poverty line.So we didnt get nay co sponsors.

  8. Thanks for the info. I already took my flash drive to a CVS. It is 15 cent for a pic, not too bad. I can get them back in an hour.

Color toner is not any cheaper. I will go with CVS since it is a little bit more professional.

    [

Suit yourself.. (even cheaper method - usually - submit the photos electronically over the web - usually get better deals that way... )

costco has a good offer. 0.13cents only. (4x6) I printed our wedding pics just this weekend.

  9. Hi guys...I remember filling up a particular form (before my interview at the US consulate in Kuuwait) where there is a question if i have plans to study in the US. And I said "no". But then now, me and hubby are talking about me going to school and take up Nursing. Now, is there any effect whatsoever if I went to enroll and study during this process? I plan to inquire once I have my state ID and license so that it would be easier to get around. What do you think?

  10. I know I have been posting several questions lately.....I am suppose to be in bed this time but again....the more infos I read here I get more paranoid....so do we really need an emplyment letter for hubby to be attached with the I864? I am including pay stubs , tax and bank statemnt. But I dont see employment letter mentioned in its instruction.....We are about to send my AOS tommorrow

  11. Well here I go again...I was going through our documents so we could mail it tom. BUT THEN....I am not sure if I did this right......well I had a previous question about what name to use when we fill our AOS. and most say I can use my Married name...which I did.....But then I was just wondering...I have the SSN in my maiden name....and I could change my SSN yet coz my I-94 has already expired.....so if incase they look it up in their system.....and search for my SSN..they would see my maiden name right? Does it really matter? Ofcourse I attached our marriege certificate along with the documents......Wheeeewwww....I know most of will tell me how paranoid I am...just wanted to avoid RFE and get our papers moving...

my wife's was in her previous name until after she received her GC and then we had it changed.... no issues

so u suggest I use my maiden name in all the forms?

no, I am suggesting that you SSN in your maiden name is not an issue.... get your greencard in the legal name you wish to be known as

Ok so I will use my married name in all the forms even though I havent changed my SSN to married name.=P I always wanted confirmation from someone.....it makes me feel better....Thankssss a lot

  14. I just realized how time fly by so fassssstt!! I miss this Thread. I remember when we first started with K-1.

And now since were filing for my AOS, I have to do my searchin at the AOS thread. Good Luck to all!!! Hang in there for those who just started, who are waiting for their interview and those who will be entering the US soon....

I loveeeee this site sooooooo much! I think it should be called the US immigration Bible......=P I even suggested this site to some of my friends who are processing their papers. Its the best website ever!

  15. A bankruptcy does not hurt your credit forever. It is a chance to start over in your husbands credit. He should start to rebuild his credit with small purchases on credit and make sure he stays current on those payments. and all your bills. he can rebuild his credit easily if he does it slowly and makes sure he doesn't default on credit loans in the future. You said you are both young that's good it will give you time to build credit slowly. Just stay focused on your bills and pay them when they re due.

Yes thats what we're doing right now. building our credits together. But im just concern when the time comes for our AOS interview...do they really look for it? if so will our explanation be valid for them. We dont want to give them the impression that we cannot financially support each other where infact we do. He has has a good paying job. Tha bankruptcy had nothing to do with my hubby not paying or loaning money. Actually he had a car that he sold to his friend who had a fatal accident and died. The car was still under hubby's name. =(

  16. Do we really need a joint bank account to prove that our marriage is bonafide? My hubby filed for bankruptcy last year (and will last for more than 5 yrs) that made us not to open a joint account instead he made me open my own and he also has a separate bank account.

.And from what we heard, if we have a joint account and want to purchase for example a house in the future and have it under my name since I will start from scatch...i would 90% be denied also when they do a credit check becuase they would find out my husband has a bad credit....so what are our options? we are living under one roof, we have utilities in both our names, we are planning to have kids in 2 yrs (since we are still young and planning on travelling and enjoy each others company).

  17. I know I sometimes tend to make things complicated....which I'm sure someone out here can help me again......

1.Should I write down my " married" or Single name in all the forms for filing my AOS,AP,EAD etc? I have not yet changed my last name in my SSN since I heard that they require a valid I-194. However my I-194 is already expired so I assume they wont entertain me at the Social Security offices. What steps should be taken in such cases?

2.Plus....I worked in a Co for 2 months before my I-194 expired. should I mention that in my G-325? And does my hubby need to fill up another G-325 too?

I really appreciate any feedbacks......thanks guys!
