So you didn't get a mail after approval? mmm..
Did you get ONE touch or several touches? How far away were they from your NOA1?
Thank you!
Chet, Actually Im a California girl "Marine Brat" but now many many many years later, Houston is now my home. Im one of those East side working folks. Good luck, today is just beginning for those touches.Paris Heart
Touches may not mean a lot, but they can mean everything.
I’m a ‘07 filer, so don’t use my timeline, but ‘08 filers should happen faster than ours did.
We received a touch and a week later received letter of approval (NOA2). The USCIS website STILL doesn’t reflect the approval, HOWEVER our paperwork was past NVC and on it’s way to the Embassy four weeks later.
It’s hard to say anything positive about their website quality, but the touch does mean your file was checked in or out. So, something was done, even if it was only something simple.
Hang in there… I wish you all the fastest possible journey.

One touch 07 one touch 08. Never called, and do not want to start today: do not like to get abused by know-nothing call-center people!
Other people (Paris etc.) seem to have got 06 and 07 touches... At the moment the most we all got is 2 touches in a row, which is basically what we got last month for the K-3 (nothing ever since), that is why I am not overly excited yet.
Should we get more touches soon, and some of us got approved, THEN I'd start be excited!!
thanks folks, I just got another one... 08 May... But considering it is only 9.30 there, I am starting to wonder if this is not all a kind of mass update or something... and therefore nothing to get excited about... Perhaps it just means that they send a computerized name check or something, not that anyone actually picked up the "dusty box".... Oh well, let's keep prayin' !I GOT IT I GOT IT!!!! GOT TOUCHED TODAY!See!!
I told you you'd hear something soon, considering you have been getting the same touches before too.
Great, Charisma!
you got 3 touches charisma ??are you trying to call VSC to find out what's this touch business is????

You did?? but that is FANTASTIC!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you get another couple of touches, and next week the email from the Very Screwd Center!
I sense an approval for you on the way!!!!!
-
Indeed you were right! Tell me that I am gonna get approved this month!! ;-)
Any new touches today on your side? Lots of people seem to have gotten I-130 touches then... all for people with K-3 too right?
Normally, we should get excited if we get REPEATED touches right? You remember last month? We got I-129 touches, but it didn't result in anything as of yet.. So I think we just need to wait this month out and see... I mean, there are still PLENTY of I-130 filers that did not get approved from back in Sept. I saw only 2 ppl who filed in Feb. get approvals so far, so I do not pin my hopes too high just yet.
-
I GOT IT I GOT IT!!!! GOT TOUCHED TODAY!
Mine did NOT!! I had hoped it would, since I had got the same touches on the I-129 as you guys!Oh well, at least someone is moving!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
Hang in there Charisma, its not over with yet!!!!!!

If TOMORROW they approved my I-130, I'd go for it... I filed for the K-3 as well because I thought that I-130 would take more than 3 months for approval, and the NVC another at least 3... It seems that with the new electronic system NVC is getting faster, so.... Just take the first one you get an approval for!
I-130 APPROVED on 5/1/08!!! Haven't gotten a letter yet, but it's supposedly in the mail ... No approval on the I-129F yet, though ... I'm wondering how long I should wait on that before deciding that I'm going with the I-130 alone ...The way I see it, the goal of permanent residence is now well on its way - but I can still save some time in terms of getting my wife HERE if I go with the K3 because the processing time at the NVC is significantly shorter ... anyone know what the time difference is at the NVC between an I-130 alone vs the K3 "combo"???

In that case, how long would it take on average to go on to NVC? I mean from the day you file the I-824..
Also, if you already did the medical and all, do you need to do it again at the consulate?
Leaving $$ issues aside, does it make sense to go I-824, or it is just faster to AOS from the States directly? My no. 1 priority is the EAD (for which I understand there is a 3month wait usually after filing AOS), not the actual green card...
If they do hold the I-130 back, the only thing you can do to keep it moving to NVC is file I-824. -
OH MY! I hadn't realized you had filed end of DEC!!!! I just checked your timeline...
THAT IS GREATTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is great news! And an VSCer too!!I just got that beautiful beuatiful email in my inbox just now!!!!!IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!
Im not going to tell my wife though until I get home.
hehe
Super suprise!

VSC, GET A MOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!!!!And well done VSC for pumping out another approval this week .... maybe the new employees working on I-130's have finally learnt what to do ..... will we see another tomorrow ??

If you want to insult your abusive boss, tell him he is an incompetent git that cannot count 1 to 10 or even order invoices from old to new, and therefore he should direct VSC!
He'll perhaps take it as a compliment, we all know it is not meant as one! ;-)
Mohad01,Hi there, read some of SarahJaynes funnies. your will laugh so hard you will cry from joy,
hang in there, just remember, your not in this alone, you have all of us who completely understand how you feel.
Feel free to rant and rave, slam USCIS, and VSC. we all have numerous times. Its good therapy, then again so is drinking. "Just kidding" well maybe not.
Best of Luck, hang in there.

Great! Exactly what I needed. Thank you!
I use T-mobile.Can be charged via the Internet, top up card or on the phone itself.
Once you have topped up to a value in total of $100, minutes remain valid for 365 days. Before you reach the $100 validity depends on the amount you top up. No service charge just a charge for what you use.
I purchased just the sim card and put it into a GSM phone I already had.
Minutes can be used anywhere in USA not tried to call internationally on it as have no need.
-
I'd like to know what's the best PRE-PAID mobile phone service to call mainly CA mobile phones and other nationwide land lines (mainly NON CA). It needs to be a GSM- Sim card based system. Especially, I am interested in costs, ways of recharging, and any other details. It would be great if it can also do international roaming.
I prefer services that charge you only for what you ACTUALLY use, without any daily fees or anything, no free calls, no special services. PURE calls and SMS is enough.
Thanks for any ideas!

I bet the ACPO lobbied the US embassy to force on them the usage of the new (MORE EXPENSIVE) certificate. They saw there was lots of requests so why not, how to turn an easy buck! I see no reason why the old one is not good enough, other than to squeeze you out of more $$... That's truly deplorable: I can't believe the real cost of printing an access request is 30 quid. Can't take longer than 1 minute, including printing time, and posting. Perhaps someone at the US embassy at the end of the year gets some free tickets to cricket matches or something...
Well, I have good news and bad news....The good news is Darren was approved at the interview. The bad news is that the approval is PENDING until we send them a new police certificate.
When we sent in our petition in January, we checked the embassy website for the particulars of what we would need at the interview. On the website, it said that we had to get a police certificate, which we did. Only they neglected to say which police certificate to get. When we received our NOA2 so quickly, we were relieved that we already started the ball rolling on gathering documents for the interview.
But then, we started to see some concerns come up on the UK forum about a new police certificate. It was quite expensive (70 pounds), but there was some confusion to which police report use. So we looked on the website (and checked there often) and it said (and STILL says, I might add) that if your interview was scheduled before April 15th (which we were) that if the police certificate was less than six months old (which it was) and your interview occurred before August 15th, everything would be okay. Well, it wasn't...
We will have to pay an additional 70 pounds (about 135 dollars) and wait. Time was never the motivating factor; he wasn't able to come right over. It's just the feeling that the U.S. government seems to be squeezing every last penny out of us that they can.
But, at the end of the day, we are approved, even if we have to wait a little longer, and I am ecstatic at that!!!
Thanks you for all the well-wishes!!!
-
For clarity's sake, I'd personally remove any entry with NOA2 received in 2007. I'd leave only pending cases and NOA2s from 2008.

When the game gets tough...
Wait it out and spite them, show them that they can bend you but not break you!! YOU CAN MAKE IT! Teach the service center dudes a lesson or two in how to live life for the things that are right and that you believe in!
Thanks to everyone and I hope everyone will be with their loves ones sooner then we expect. I just wish for all to be with their families and live a happy life. Hopefully things will be better. If not., then everything else in life can go to hell.I can't wait anymoreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

He probably talked to a newbie who cannot read the USCIS software screens... I bet he/she mixed up receipt date with notification date... Do NOT despair!
did you talk to USCIS or VSC? -
Sorry my comment aboute the free fingerprinting was obviously in relation to the Japanese police certificate of course...
Had misread!
She just left but it will take her about 2 1/2 hours to get to Quezon City so if anyone has information I can still call her ..Thanks so much,
CB
-
All free, it takes 2 months, and it arrived in a seal envelop you cannot open to me...
My fiancee is going to Camp Crame in Edsa, Qeuzon City to have her fingerprints taken and then to the Japanese Consulate in Manila to request her police clearance (she worked there a number of times).Does anyone know if there are charges associated with the fingerprinting or request for police clearance? She is leaving in one hour but insisted that I get online and ask just the same.
Thanks,
CB
I guess the Manila's JP consulate needs extra $$! No charges in other countries.
Costs were ..500 php for fingerprints
no cost for Police Clearance

I would not think about it TWICE if my spouse was Canadian, I would have been in Canada a LOOONG time ago!
I myself, I'd pick Canada over the US ANY DAY... but hey, the US is not bad... Just, Canada is better! I mean, you have Montreal and Vancouver, you have hockey, you have the moose, you have Michael Buble I mean what do you need more?? ;-)
You speak the same language, you are so close to each other, Canada or the US, is almost the same, with all due respect. Both great places, great people, lands of opportunities and of immigration. Either way, you can't go wrong. Talk it over with your partner and choose what you both think is best for your family! Where is not as important as with whom!
If you eventually get fed up with Canada, we can always exchange visas, if I ever make it through VSC!
Success and good luck!
I'm SO stressed people, you have no idea!!!
First...
I'm up for a promotion at work. It's between me and two other co-workers. I had my interview for it last week and the admin manager was suppose to make her decision on the weekend. Well that came and went, nothing. Then Monday, nothing again. It's Thursday, I won't be going in until 2pm but I guarantee I'll hear NOTHING.
Why does this matter?
Because if I get this promotion (which I think I have a very good chance of getting) I don't know if I'll be moving to the U.S.
The whole reason I was going down there is because I was only part time and I didn't make enough money to support both Nick and I while he waited for PR. With this job, I would be able to and Nick coming to Canada would be possible.
My medical is fast approaching, still don't know my interview date but I'm sure I'll know soon.
Nick is looking at homes in NJ. They are SO expensive and crazy. We've found some we really like that are just over our price range and we could make it work. He's going to view one tonight. So, my life in NJ is forming too....
It's like I'm stuck between both places, completely on hold, not knowing where or what is happening.
I'm so stressed, I can't even believe I got my period right on time this month (Sorry boys) LOL but it's true....
What would you do? Canada is so....sigh...it's Canada. I love it here, so does Nick. The health care, the everything....NJ isn't horrible but if we had the chance to live in Canada, we totally would.
At the same time, I feel that Nick may be a little apprehensive to living here even though he loves it. All his friends are down there (I don't really have that many friends here, in fact, I have only acquaintances) So it's like....GRR! I don't know what to do!!!
Help, I need encouragement and support.

Is the texting from yahoo free? Only to US mobile phones or can it handle international as well??
Might save me the hassle of checking every day, but then I am afraid I'd get a heart attack at any beeping from a text message!
Also, thanks to hyd671, I just set my mobile alert too!! I hope to get beep soon.Too many times a day to count, pluse when I wake up in the middle of the night. Hey, how do you set up a mobile alert on a cell phone??????
Paris Heart
no problem it realy helped me out.. the mobile alert gave me a nice surprise at 445am .. i fell out of bed in the dark with the excitement from the TEXT..
basically i have a yahoo id
so when u signed up for USCIS case status onliine. im sure u received an EMAIL from CRIS .. find that email... in ur acount... then click on ADD mobile alert.. FILTER out your mobile alert by adding that CRIS email address.. so ur phone doesnt ring every time u get an email LOL it only rings if u get an email frm CRIS which should be ur approval notice sent hope this helps.. i recomend everyone to do this if u have that text service on ur cell....

Many of us Feb. and March filers from VSC got the 2 touches...
While there are so many Dec. and Jan. filers still not approved it is unrealistic that they will approve us before them. Let alone the filers from last Fall who are still waiting.
I believe the two touches may signify just some step-up in the process...
