  1. Kumtu, your next step is to decide which one you want to follow. From what I've seen, the K3 is not really any faster than the CR1. The K3 will cost more money as you will have to pay for adjustment of status once the beneficiary is in the U.S. This runs around $1010 all together. With the CR1, you don't have that cost or the extra filing. The only benefit to the K3 that I can see (and is the reason I am following it) is because with the K3 the beneficiary interviews in the country where they got married. With the CR1, the interview is in the beneficiary's home country. My husband is from Iran, but lives in Canada. We got married in Canada and therefore, he is interviewing in Montreal, instead of Turkey or Dubai, which you can see would be a real hardship to have to go that far. I would not recommend following the K3 unless you have an extenuating circumstance that requires it. If you decide to follow the CR1, NVC will contact petitioner and beneficiary with the next step in the process. For the K3, NVC will send the petition to the Embassy and the Embassy will contact the beneficiary with instructions for the next step. Just ignore the instructions for the petition you do not want to follow. I hope this made sense.

  2. Well this is confusing, because the last statement on that page says:

USCIS Response on August 18, 2008: USCIS does not notify the Department of State regarding the termination of the K-3 petition, since such termination does not affect the immigrant visa process or the applicant’s eligibility for an immigrant visa. It should be noted, however, that USCIS is no longer administratively closing the I-129F/K-3s and that it is sending both the approved I-129F/K-3 petition and the approved I-130 petition to the Department of State. My 129F and I130 were both approved and sent on together in May of this year. I suggest the OP call USCIS and ask that her call be escalated. There might be more to this case than meets the eye.

  3. i asked to call nvc and uscis but that was his answer " everything is in the good way just relax hny" !!!!!! wish i can call them by myself !! :-(

actually, you can call on your own..you will just need the case #. YOu can use the USCIS receipt # or the case number that NVC assigned to it.

maybe he already called and sorted it out?? i hope thats the case

    good luck :)

It was my understanding that only the petitioner can call USCIS? I don't think they will talk to the beneficiary.

  4. Hi Amal! I really enjoyed reading your post. That's great. :star: As for the discussion on "adjustments" in a marriage, well, I don't care if your husband is from the middle east or he's American, there will be adjustments in every marriage. We are all individuals after all and it always takes adjustments, especially in the beginning. Heck, my parents have been married around 50 years now, and they STILL have disagreements sometimes. Imagine that. I think it's overcoming these differences and sticking with it that bring us closer to our spouses every time. The issues will be different for every marriage, but there will be issues. Having disagreements and issues does not mean you don't love each other and it doesn't mean your marriage is bad. It just means you are human. :) And every now and then us girls need to get together and talk about our men in a humorous way.

  5. You can look in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) forum for other people from Morrocco who have gone through the process.

You won't need the sponsoring form (affidavit of support) until either the petition is approved (CR1) or your interview at the embassy (K3).

Approvals for the petitions have been averaging about 6 months for K3 and 7 months for CR1, but then it still has more steps to follow before you actually get an interview and have the visa. I'd say on average, plan on it taking 8 months to a year from start to finish.

I hear CR1 is cheaper in the long run and not really that much faster right now. The only reason we went with the K3 is because you interview where the marriage took place and not the country where the beneficiary (that would be you) is from. My husband is from Iran but currently lives in Canada. We didn't want to have to fly to Turkey or Dubai for an interview. Check out the guides. They have a lot of good information.

  6. Congratulations! :dance::dance:

Has anyone not had a statement from the bank for affidavit of support and been OK? I have letter of employment with my annual salary, 3 years of tax transcripts, and I've printed out my pay stubs for this year. I just don't really want to bother with the bank if I don't have to.

  7. I am having the same problem with my family. They think all middle eastern men are terrorists or wife beaters. My mom refused to talk to me for several months after I got married, and our relationship is still rocky. We have been married for one year this month and hopefully he will finally be here with me next month. I don't know what my parents are going to do once he's here, because I'm not bringing my kids (from former marriage) to see them over the holidays while leaving him at home alone. We will see what the next chapter brings...

  8. Paris, where did you get married? If you follow K3, you have to process at the Consulate that serves the country you were married in. If it's where your husband is now, then no problem. For CR1, he will have to process in his country of nationality. None of this may affect you, but it did us, and that's why we went with the K3.

  9. I have been waiting 6 weeks for an interview date...I am trying to be patient. I read here that Montreal is backlogged? Does anyone know if this is still the case?

I don't know, but as you can see, we waited almost 2 months to find out our interview date.

4 days till my interview !!! eeeeeEEeeee :star:

  10. thats awesome childress! Hopefully we get some more interviews through soon! I called again today and still nothing. I'm really hoping that we get one before the end of september cuz of his time off, but I'm not super optimistic.

Thanks everyone! Danu, did you try to email them and explain your situation? They are scheduling interviews for September now, so now would be the time to ask. :-)

Yeah I had emailed them about 2 days after i sent my package back and they said they would try to get me in "soonest" for an interview based on the timeframe. Hoping maybe I will hear something end of next week or else I have a feeling it will be an October interview, if I'm lucky.

It wouldn't hurt to email them again and give them a polite reminder. ;-)

Just received and email today saying that they received my packet #3 and I'm on the waiting list for an appointment.

This could take 4-6 MONTHS! really? is that like a worst case scenario?

    DCF in Halifax June 8th

received packet 3 July 22, Montreal received it the 26.

I think that is worse case scenario. So far I haven't seen it take that long for most people. We got ours in 3 months.
