  1. Hey Boiler, Thanks for the reply: I reside in the US and have bought with me 5 years worth of w-2 from my past employers with me and I hope that is enough because I saw somewhere asking for 5 years. The translation part is on the DS-11 form itself shown here: https://eforms.state.gov/Forms/ds11_pdf.PDF Because I reside in the US but my son is born in Brazil, can I apply for SSN in the US or should I do it the way as if I (my son) will live in Brazil for awhile until my girlfriend's K-1 is processed? Do I need to file for SSN before my consulate interview like the DS-11 or can that be done at a later time? Thank you, Jon
  2. Hello everyone! I had just submitted the eCRBA form online for my newborn son and paid the $100 fee along with scheduling the appointment at the US consulate in Porto Alegre Brazil. My understanding is that I should also complete the DS-11 form for my newborn before attending the appointment. Any tips for things to expect or bring before interview at the US consulate? Are there any tips on filling out the DS-11 for newborn CRBA? Do I need to apply for his social security? I just received his birth certificate from the Brazilian government but how do I translate it to English as required in page 2 Section D under "Claiming Citizenship through Birth Abroad to At Least One U.S. Citizen Parent"? This is the link I have been using for eCRBA in Brazil: https://br.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/citizenship-services/ Thanks in advance, Jon
  3. Thanks for all of your replies. It is very helpful. We we leaning toward K-1 but after reading more, CR-1 seems to be better. Why is it hard for her to get a tourist visa to visit the US? Is it because of the unborn child or will it negativity affect the CR-1 process? Did the US make visas (B) a lot harder or longer period to process?
  4. Hello All, My girlfriend of Brazilian Citizenship is currently pregnant in Brazil and is due in April. Which visa choices do I have? I have looked into K-1 and CR-1 but not sure which is best or if there are other options. Best case is for her to be able to give birth in the US under my insurance plan which means we need to get married quick in the US before January. Second option is to give birth in Brazil and then file for visas (not sure which for baby). I would like us to be together as soon as possible. Things I want to note that might be crucial: I work and live in New Jersey, USA while she resides in Brazil. We are both single and never married. She has never applied for US visa and currently getting her Brazilian passport as I assume she will definitely need it. I am not sure if applying for visa to visit my family in the US would affect her k-1, cr-1, or other applications. What can I do now to jump start the process? Is there something I can do for the unborn child in the mean time? Is there something I can do for my girlfriend in the mean time to upstart any process? Thank you all!
