  1. Went for my interview today, and walked out of the building a Citizen. I guess they were running a recurring oath ceremony at the Lawrence MA field office today. They would wait till the oath room filled up then give the ceremony, and let it clear out and then continue.

Interview was pretty straight forward, though they had to go take a copy of my passport. I thought i had included that already in my packet.

I guess if you had a pending ROC it is advisable you go with your spouse even though she might not be allowed to go in the room with you.

Thankfully I got past that a while back. Just got my 2nd 10 year green card. Was worried things would take longer than my old card was valid for.

So sounds like no need for the wife. Certainly doesn't mention it on the appointment paper, just wanted to make sure.  Thanks!

Hi, did you get the receipt already in your account? Cos i just got the same notice but mine didn't mention the month for the interview. Just a notification that i have been scheduled for an interview today February 10 and also the completion time jump from June to October...Please let me know your view

Found the notice in the Documents tab. Haven't received it in the mail yet.

  4. Time to call congressman. Thats a generic answer they gave me, congressman can really help!

How would you go about asking the congressman for help, I have no idea who ours is or how to go about it, getting to the poin tnow where someting has to be done

Thanks alot, I found out who the congressman was on there, will give his office a call and hopefully someone can help. Can't see what they can do though with it just stuck as pending. Never hurts to try though!

You will be supprised what they can do! A call from a congressman can really get things moving, it certainly did for us. Seems that the USCIS really doesnt move to quickly unless really pushed sometimes.

  5. Hello all,

    Here is my situation:

I entered as a student in 2002. Finished my schooling in 2006 (4 years), completed OPT in 2007 (+1 year) and took community college course for a semester (+1 year). Classes ended on Dec 21st 2007. Me and my girlfriend (US citizen) of 4 years at that time decided to get married in Jan 08. USCIS received AOS app, EAD app and AP app on Feb 14th (priority date). I received the EAD and AP on July 20, 08. Received I-797c on Aug 15th, which stated my interview date as Oct 2nd 08.

    My problem:

Me and my wife moved on Aug 22nd, 08 (a few days ago as she is starting her PHd program) from Vermont to Mass, and on receiving my AP, I bought a plane ticket to go home from Sep 6th through Oct 15th.

    My questions to you all:

1.First of all, am I allowed to travel outside the country as my student visa has already expired? Between the time of end of school (Dec 21st, 07) and receiving of my AOS application at USCIS (Feb14th, 08) less than 60 days have passed (the legal time limit you can stay in the country even after the visa expires). But being in AOS pending status make me illegal to to re-enter the country (it's been 7-8 months)? My I-94 has no expiration date but only (D/S) which refers to Duration of Stay. Anyone have similar experience?

2.Do I need to inform the USCIS of the address change immediately? Will this push the date of interview further back or will it take place at the initial location (St. Albans) and will the dates change as well as we are in a different jurisdiction?

    thanks for all your help.

    Saurav

Technically your F1 Visa becomes invalid as soon as you apply for your AOS and you become and adjustment applicant. but with your AP you should be good to travel.

AS for changing the address thats a tough call. Changing your address would likely change the interview date. I was told by an IO at an Infopass that you could just turn up to the interview with your AR-11 and the other form and say you just moved... but that could be risky since I have heard of people being put off by the interviewing officer too. Like Lilli says maybe worth talking with a lawyer.

  6. Hi Everyone ~ first post here on this thread. We filed for AOS back on March 3, 2008. *sigh*

Look forward to getting to know you all and hearing your stories.

    Annette

    Welcome!

Sorry you had to walk in right in the middle of my disaster, but most of the people on here have happy stories :)

Best of luck with the rest of your AOS journey!

E-Merce its amazing what a senator can do. We had a similar finding with our stuff. For some reason it takes something like that for them to get their act together, otherwise they are quite happy just bumbling along feeding us a bunch of BS.

I am sure your case will finish soon too, now that they senator is involved. We got my green card the other day too.
