IR1 and IR5 interviews are in the same category?
my father’s DQ is February 2023 I can’t find any IR5 group here so that’s why asking in this group!!

Not 100% but fairly certain it'd be around if not the same. I'd hope the interview for your father comes up within the next 3 months if not 2.

    Hello everybody!
my wife’s DQ date is December 22nd 2022. Any idea when should we expect to get an iL? Thank you

I'd think pretty soon maybe within the month. Unless they start to slow down around Eid, in that case the week after Eid is probably when you could get the IL email.

  3. Congratulations to y'all!

Just an update, my buddy's wife had her interview the other day and got approved after being asked 4 or 5 basic questions.

But the main thing is, her passport and birth certificate were lost. So all they did was upload the new copy of the passport and birth certificate to the portal (along with all the other new relevant papers). Also, his wife only had 2 shots of the vaccine, and they didn't pose any problems.

Purpose of this post is to serve as clarification for the previous questions I asked on this thread (and thank you again to everyone who answered). Stay up, everyone!

I hope everyone is AP gets through it smoothly! The whole thing can make you so nervous it's abominal.

My wife's medical was done recently. She had 2 shots for COVID (not 3). The results of her medical state under COVID that an additional dose is required. The hospitals by her house said they weren't able to procure a shipment of the booster since late last year. Does anybody know of anyone who had "additional dose required" on their medical and was still given visa in spite of this?

    Everyone in** (not is)

Also, it says specifically "due for additional dose"

Does that mean they can allow her to get her booster in the US or will they put her in AP until she submits proof of getting the booster?

    Thanks for the Answer.

But How would state ID still proof the relationship between the Mother and the Daughter? Wouldn't state ID only proof my MIL to be a citizen and living at a certain address? She also has Nadra POC and American Passport. Any insights would be appreciated.

Correct, state ID helps establish residence in the US.

Your wife and her mother's relationship can be established with your wife's birth certificate. The birth certificate of your wife should have the name of your mother in law (who I assume is her birth mother) on it.

    Hello Everyone,

I need some assistance. I will be Grateful for the help.

I provided Joint Sponsor named Adnan who gave I-864 in 2021- Adnan is having issues providing updated documents and I-864. My second choice now is to have my wife I-864 and add her mother on a I-864A Household member. My questions are:

    1) Would changing this affect in any way my visa process?

    2) How can I prove relationship status between my wife and her mother as in what documents can be provided? Both are Dual Citizens and her mother has no Driving license. They both live at the same address.

    Thanks,

    1. I'm not sure about how it will affect. Since I can't answer with certainty, I'll remain silent on this point.

    2. Your wife's birth certificate should be good enough to prove a relation between her and her mother. Your mother in law doesn't need a license necessarily, but a state ID card can also help. If she doesn't have that then I'd recommend for her to get one. If she has an American passport that might suffice, but I'd still strongly recommend the state ID option.

Can you call and verify that from the designated clinic where you will have your medical maybe they can give right info to you and also tell you about where to get booster if it's required. That's the best I can think of if anyone knows better please share.Good luck.

    Thank you!

So we called, the clinic basically said, and I quote, "If you already have 2 doses, and you want a booster, you can get one. If you're unable to find a booster, then these 2 doses can be acceptable."

I would have felt more confident if he had just said a booster isn't required at all lol.

    File tax without income?

Yes. On the affidavit of support there's a box you can tick which says something like not required to file taxes, but then you'll have to offer an explanation of some sort as to why you didn't have to file.

For me, it's just out of an abundance of caution that I'd file taxes anyway, because I've read some really crazy things that Consular Officers have said from this forum. But that's just me. I'm not saying it's required, it most likely isn't anyway. I'm just thinking from a perspective of I want to give officers minimal reasons to raise an eyebrow, if that makes sense. I guess I'm just jaded haha

If someone here has not filed taxes and their family's case got approved without hiccups, I'd request you chime in.

  11. Hey guys, in a slight pickle here. Had conflicting reports for a booster for COVID. As one of the members posted a link to new guidelines, a booster shot is apparently required in the past 12 months* for all intending immigrants.

My wife went to JPMC (in Karachi) for her polio and COVID booster shot yesterday. She was told from the staff that there has been NO booster in Pakistan since October of last year (meaning not in stock). They also said maybe they'll get some after Eid, but not sure.

Can anyone provide any insight here? Anyone know if this is corroborated, and if not, then where can my wife get her booster in Karachi?

    Appreciate you guys!

    Hello everyone,

Me and my husbands DQ date is November 22nd 2022 for IR1 case.

At the time of submitting documents I had an income which wasn’t sufficient but I added my brother in law and his wife as joint sponsors. I know my husband have to take updated tax returns to the interview but I haven’t filed tax since last two years so do I just get  tan updated tax return of my brother in law and his wife or do we need to take additional documents to the interview? Also do I need to refill I-864 documents with updated information ?

I'll give this my best shot. For starters, I hope someone can chime in. If you haven't filed taxes the past few years (assuming because you had zero income?) then you could probably put zero in the 2022 and 2021 tax years (because you still have to file an i864 even if your income doesn't suffice).

You, your brother in law, and his wife will need new affidavits of support because it's a New Year. If you haven't filed taxes for 2023, I'd go ahead and do so, because they might try to put a pause on the case or put it in AP (someone please chime in here). But that's what I'd do. But you all definitely need to fill new affidavits.

Hay, Thanks for the heads up- I would definitely ask her for this W-2 however I notice you mentions Tax return and IRs tax Transcript as two separate items? Isnt the tax transcript the same as the Tax return? I am confused...

A little clarity would be great- Plus NVC approved my above documents and hence told me I am DQ? Isnt that sort of good enough that NVC already told me that The documents are good enough or you are suggesting that NVC DQ means little to nothing?

    Thanks alot!

No worries! So the only reason I mentioned a tax transcript is because my papers weren't accepted with just  tax return (1040). They only approved my papers after I sent them the tax transcript (which is an official receipt from the IRS, which shows the tax return was indeed filed with the IRS). If your papers were accepted without it then you probably don't need it. But it's a simple download if your wife creates an IRS website. But regardless you should be fine. As podeena said make sure you upload all new income and tax documents. I also saw an October 22 DQ scheduled for the 14th of May, so your interview could very well be by mid June or if you're lucky the beginning. Best of luck!

This is what I submitted to NVC- Hope this can help but is not concluding-

    Original Urdu Nikkah Nama

    Original Marriage Certificate

    Original Birth certificate (Applicant)

Notarised translation of Original Urdu Nikkah nama

Notarised translation of Orginal Birth certificate

    Nadra FRC

    Wifes- US passport

    Wifes Driving LIcense

    Affidavit of support (I-864)-(Petitioner)

3 Year Tax return from IRS (Income and wage transcript)

Random Pics (Weddings+Trips+Dinners+Time Together with Time Headings like January 2023) All in one pdf as additional Evidence

Police certificate (Pakistan MY ) (I am the applicant and my wife petioner)

Since I also stayed in the UK for 2 years (Police certificate from UK)

I will also be taking all of this to my Interview which I am hoping will be done by June 2024 as I am DQ 28 Nov 2022

    Hope this helps.

Redundancy is always a good thing, I noticed you didn't include your passport in the list. Everything else looks good. I also compiled a list of receipts for flights and gifts as additional evidence.

In terms of the tax papers, I'd strongly recommend your wife give you her 2023 w2 (which you probably referred to as wage transcript, I'm not sure though?), as well as 2023 tax return (1040) and IRS tax transcript (downloadable from her IRS account. If she hasn't made one yet she can do so easily).

If she is self employed or a business owner then you'll need her 1099 amongst other things. Right now, they did Oct 7, 2022 for May 28. So November 28 may be end of June or beginning of July, one or the other. Best of luck!

  15. Appreciate all of your inputs!

I do apologize but I had another question. One of my friend's wife in Pakistan is also expecting her interview in the coming months. Her passport and birth certificate were either lost or stolen (they don't know because they had moved). Since the husband had the marriage documents they still have those, but their question is should they upload the new documents or just explain at the interview?

New birth certificate was made this week and new passport is a week or two away. The new birth certificate has today's date as issue date so it will be obvious it's not the same document as at the time they uploaded their documents 2 years ago, most probably the same will be true for the passport.

No need for a booster shot. My wife also had just covid vaccine shots and had no issues at interview or at Port of entry.

    Thank you, understood!

Do it now no need to wait for polio vaccine get the certification now. Good luck

    Noted, thank you!

  17. Hey guys! My wife had the first 2 shots for COVID but never got a booster. Does she need a booster shot?

Also, I'm expecting her interview in the next month or two, so should she go get her polio vaccination and certification done now or should we wait?

  18. For the 2x2 photo, does the ear need to show or anything? My wife does hijab so I wanted to ask if a picture with full hijab is okay or if she has to expose an ear (one guy said ear has to be exposed) so I don't know.

The Marriage System in Pakistan is different than Europe & US.

If you guys are married previously in pakistan and the marriage is registered no matter it is Urdu nikah nama only or nadra because all past urdu nikah namas were transferred to Nadra when this system was introduced.

The thing is that if you married in other than US, your marriage is registered in both country like US & Pakistan so in short you should apply for divorce in both country, the exception in Pakistan you are allowed to do second marriage (because our religion allows multiple marriages at same time) while you are not officially divorced in nadra system from previous marriage.

If yours interview are near I suggest you to start divorce process in your relevant Municipal Committee,The process takes 90 - 120 days to be completed, I know you have less days until your interview but at least your process is already started.

No need to Worry, At the time of your interview just explain your situation to CO if they specifically asked about it, otherwise Your US decree is enough to prove that you guys were divorced, Thanks

I very much appreciate your insight! Point taken! Unfortunately, I'm  currently unable to go because of work, but maybe I can arrange something from here.

Out of curiosity, for @gulkhan and myself, does anyone know of anybody who was first married in Pakistan then divorced in the US and then remarried again in Pakistan who brought their wife to the States? Sorry, totally don't mean to hijack this thread but this situation could potentially prove detrimental

  20. 15 hours ago, Kuchiki said:

Did your previous marriage take place in Pakistan and is it registered with NADRA? If not, then you do not need divorce certificate from Pakistan. US divorce certificate is all you need.

I'm in this boat. I was married 2015 in Lahore to my Canadian ex-wife and it was registered in Nadra (I'm American, we were both there studying).

I was in America when we divorced in 2021, and she was in Canada (had divorce in Nevada, also her case was rescinded and she never came here).

When I went to Pakistan to marry my (current) wife, I had my divorce decree stamped from the Los Angeles embassy. The nikkah haan used my divorce decree as a basis to put my marital status as divorced in my new nikkah nama.

What would the situation for myself be? Do I need a divorce from Pakistan even though me and and my ex-wife were never in Pakistan when we got divorced? My Nadra certificate shows my marital status as divorced. Will the embassy care?

What does this have to do with an IR1 visa?

Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum. I tried creating a new thread into the Pakistan forum but wasn't able to find an option.

I'd appreciate if a moderator could move this to the appropriate forum please. Sorry again guys
