We filed for the K1 Visa and had to apply for the I-601 Waiver also...since my husband came from Mexico, we had to be in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico for all the interviews. Nothing is free, every form you fill out is pretty much going to cost you, which sucks! The Waiver will cost you $545. Also do not lose ANY of your forms/papers that you receive from USCIS, even if it doesn't look that important, THEY ARE! If you lose anything that you might need in the future, you will be charged for another copy, depending on what you need, it happened to us.
Here are all the forms and fees from the USCIS.gov website:
This site is amazing and it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY throughout my entire process...go to the top of this page and click on GUIDES, it will give you many examples and DETAILED instructions on how to do EVERYTHING! I would have never been able to get through this process w/o this site and also immigrate2us.net.
Good luck!

I read the saga... but I am sorry there is nothing wrong in being US citizen. You were naive and you did not understand the law right.
Officer at the entry did his job and he was 100% right in denying entry to your husband after honeymoon. When he first got his tourist visa, he did state he was going for non-immigrant purpose.
After marriage that status had changed and so did his intention so his B1/B2 is not valid anymore.
You driving to Vermont and just handing the form to someone and they would stamp it right away - comon that does not work that way.
From begining of the story, you I can tell someone coming to US on B1/B2 as tourist and falls madly in love and is getting married to US citizen, most likely he/she is only doing that to live in US - comon.
Sorry I am rude, but m honest and frank.
HOW DARE you say this BS to this woman! Hasn't she gone through ENOUGH???? She realizes everything that has happened, she did NOTHING wrong AND NO, she was NOT NAIVE!!!! Her heart got in the way because love is a very powerful thing and that hideous man just destroyed her. You have no right to judge and you did NO help whatsoever with your 'im just being honest'
Gosh I can not STAND people on the internet that think they have balls and can just say whatever they want, no matter who it hurts..its disturbing!
I'm sorry! This story truly upset me, and THEN to read that comment, I felt like it was your husband(ex now?) himself, a creep! I am so sorry for what you went through, its everyones fear that has to go through this process, thinking in the back of our minds that he just may be using you..heck, I still think it, im about 99.9% sure that my husband isn't using me, after all that we've been through but still, our process is NOT over and there's that slight chance it might still happen...there are great manipulators out there and ya never know who they are until its too late. I feel your pain, I am so sorry, I truly am, what a devastating story, the story just got worse and worse, I was getting madder and madder as the story went on! I don't even know you but I am willing to track this fool down myself and give him a piece of my mind AND that little 'you know what' he's with now...her sending you emails, omg!!!!!!
Again, I am so sorry for what you've been through, I know you have no idea who I am but I wish you all the best in your life. And PLEASE do NOT listen to the creeps who put you down, they are NOT important!!!
Take care

I lost my husbands extension letter (not sure if I lost it or if I ever received it..), so I ended up making an infopass appointment last week and its set for this Thursday at 7:15am...but before I made the appointment I called USCIS myself and said that I did not receive the extension letter (not sure if I did receive it or in fact lost it..) and the lady told me that she will send in my information and request but if I am able to receive another copy of the extension letter, it could take up to 30 days. Once I heard that, I thought there was NO chance i'll be getting another copy, so I made an infopass appointment.
But today I received a copy of the extension letter, which was amazing, we were so happy!!! We ran to the DMV and got my husbands license renewed...well now I need to cancel the infopass but its asking for a Personal Identification Number but they did not list one on the letter I printed out, I even went to infopass again to see the page again but there is NO PIN anywhere on the letter! Does anyone know how to cancel the infopass appointment w/o the PIN number?? Will it be bad if we just never show up for the appointment if we can't cancel it?

I was told by 2 others to post here because I filed our I-751 in May..I read the instructions but I don't want to mess anything up, if someone can put my info in there for me, that would be awesome!
We filed the I-751 on May 3 and sent it to the Vermont Center...received the NOA1 May 5th...biometrics appt. was June 8th...thats it so far for us, hoping for an approval soon!!

For what do you need the letter? Is your husband's Green Card already expired?
it expires tomorrow as does his drivers license...and he needs to have his license renewed for his job

So much has been going on these past few months, I am so scatter brained! I have ALL the papers USCIS has given me ever since 2006 w/ the very first letter for the I-129F! But the one letter I can NOT find ANYWHERE is the freaking 1 year extension letter for my husbands GC. I found out that I need to make an INFOPASS appointment, is this true or is there a local immigration office I can just go to on regular business hours to get my husbands passport stamped?
If I have to go to an INFOPASS appointment, I want to schedule my husbands appointment correctly w/ no mistakes, I seem to be doing that a lot lately! It first asks me what kind of services we need, which one would be the choice I need for the lost letter I am missing:
1. You need Service on a case that has already been filed OR 2. You need information or other services ?
And is there a fee for this when we get there, I want to be prepared.

The payment issue seems to have been taken care of; and the same goes for the biometrics. Many DMV offices will let you renew a license with the 1-yr extension letter (your NOA1 letter), so you won't have to wait for the approval.
You're perfectly within the processing time and several other VSC filers got touches in late June. It's normal for it to show Initial Review right now. Oftentimes, there will be a touch on your old 485 too, especially when your case is getting close to approval. Join the May filers thread for other people's timelines and you'll see you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
Hope I could help.
Your husband can use the NOA1 that they sent you (this is also the one year extension letter) to extend his license for one year. When he receives the 10 year card he can go back and renew it. Also...
1. They accepted your payment because they wouldn't have scheduled you for a bio appointment otherwise.
2. Don't worry about the second bio appointment. USCIS was sending out duplicate appointments and they posted on their website to ignore the second appointment.
3. At this point they are processing your case and the only thing you have left to do is wait.
Don't worry, you'll hear from them soon.
Thank you both SOOOO MUCH!!!! I just did a HUGE sigh of relief! thank goodness, now I can call my husband and tell him to quit worrying as well, it seems like we are still on schedule with everything!! thank you thank you thank you!!!

I am very worried about this final process because I made a stupid mistake! We sent out the I-751 in the beginning of May to the Vermont Center and the GC my husband has expires July 14, so does his License. When I sent a check with the I-751 packet, the check bounced, I signed up w/ a new bank and also had a savings account, and the savings helps my checking account in case I spend more than whats in the account and I won't ever have overdraft fees. Well the lady apparently never connected the 2 accounts together when I signed up and the check bounced because I had a little less than $545 in my account, I messed up w/ the bills, stupid mistake! I get a letter saying I owe $575 to USCIS since my check bounced and they need it within 14 days, I sent a money order rather than a check just to be safe this time, I sent it through USPS so I can track it and make sure they received it and they did before the 14 days. This all happened at the end of May, my husband receives a Bio appt. letter for June 8th, he goes to the bio appt. and everything went fine. I then receive another letter after the bio appt. and its for a later date, June 22, it has the same exact EAC number as the first Bio appt. letter did. I asked here on VJ what should we do and a few people said that since the numbers match, we don't have to go again. So I agreed and thought the same thing since the Bio appt. will just be the same, its pointless to do it twice, so he never went, plus he couldn't miss another day at work!
Now I am just becoming paranoid because I haven't heard ANYTHING yet, they never sent me anything about receiving the money and when I check our case online, it just says its in 'Initial Review' and the last time it was touched was June 26 and I also noticed that our I485 was touched June 19, i'm not sure what that means... my husband's license will expire on July 14th and his job won't allow an expired license since he drives a company truck. During the Removal Condition process, what needs to happen now? Do we just wait for the approval to renew his license or is it possible for my husband to go to the DMV and renew it now?
If anyone can give some advice, please do, I have been worried for days now!
Please help!!

I've been looking throughout this thread because I'm curious about a few things but I can't seem to find what i'm looking for...we sent our I-751 packet to the Vermont center in the beginning of May, my husband had his biometrics appt June 8 and I keep checking our status on USCIS.gov but it still says 'Initial Review'...please tell me thats normal, it stays at Initial Review for awhile.
Also, are the majority of you having to go to a final interview, or do most receive automatic approvals?

I'm not sure where to even begin...but I am a U.S. citizen, my husband is a permanent resident, we're in the process of removing the conditions off his GC now. My husband wants his mom to be able to travel a few times a year to visit us in the U.S. She doesn't want to live in the U.S., its only for short visits occasionally to see us, especially her grandbaby. Is there a guide somewhere on here that can help me figure out how this process may work? Where do we even begin and is this process long? We aren't planning on doing this until next year but I'm just curious to know how this process works and if the approval rate for this is high or low?

Hi,
It has been reported by several members that they also received 2 biometrics letters. Usually, you have to go to one appointment only but since you are in this weird state, I would call and make sure that they received the payment.
Are the receipt numbers on both biometrics the same? if yes, then you do not need to go again for biometrics, but if they are different, then I would call USCIS and see what they say...
yes, the receipt numbers are exactly the same...I went to the USCIS.gov website and put in the biometric receipt number and it says it is in 'Initial Review'

When I sent the I-751 packet I sent a check for $545, the check ended up bouncing over this stupid mistake I made. We received a letter saying they received our packet and then a few days later we get a letter for the Biometrics Appt. set for June 7th at 12pm. Then a week after getting the biometric appt. letter, we receive a letter saying the check I sent bounced and they need payment within 15 days or our file will be denied. I sent a money order for the amount they requested the following day. We then get another Biometric appointment letter a few days ago with another appointment for the same thing we just did on Monday. Is this letter because I sent the money again? Does my husband need to make this appointment again? We're not sure what exactly needs to be done, we haven't heard back from them saying they received the money order yet, so i'm worried something might be wrong.

Delayed Deposits Causes Check Expirations and Bounced Checks
The CIS Ombudsman received questions regarding checks that are bouncing or expiring because of the lengthy time between issuance and USCIS action to cash these checks. Teleconference participants were told that, if a check bounces, the USCIS is providing the applicant with 14 days to make good on the amount, charging only a nominal fee. If the check is expired, the USCIS will attempt to deposit, but if the bank refuses the check or fails to make the deposit attempt an opportunity will be provided for the applicant to issue a new check for the fee amounts that were in place at the time of filing.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
A lot of banks will clear the check and charge the owner of the account an overdraft fee... most banks do that unless the owners opt out of this service - this is a lot of money for banks for a minor detail.
You can always call the bank and do transactions over the phone.... did you try that?
It just now showed up on my checking account that they charged me a fee for a check, in which it showed in my account that I did not have that exact amount. So, i'm thinking that USCIS will not try and cash it again but if they do, I will have the money now, for sure! But like the above poster said, it loks like they will be giving me a letter saying how much I owe and I will have 14 days to re-send a new check...this time I will be sending a MONEY ORDER! I can't go through this again!!

I am a complete mess right now. I just checked my checking account, I had the $515 in my checking account the day they cashed the check but I had $200 in my savings account which is the overdraft protection and once the check was cashed it would take from that account as well but apparently when I opened this new account 3 months ago, they never added the overdraft protection....now I'm wondering whats going to happen to us now???? is there any way to call or pay online? Is this going to mess us up completely??? someone please help, I don't know what to do!
Oh and his GC doesn't expire until the middle of July, if this helps...

My friend went to mexico with her boyfriend while she was pregnant, and then after the baby was about 2 months old, she came back into the US with her baby. It makes no sense to me why she had the baby in Mexico but she did and now shes wanting her baby to have citizenship here in the U.S.
I am helping her with getting her boyfriend back to the US legally through the K1 process cause thats what I have recently just done with my husband (fiance at that time). But I have no idea on what to do about her baby getting citizenship. Someone told her she has up to a year to get her baby citizenship.
Please let me know what to tell her and what she needs to do to get her baby citizenship.
Thanks!! =)

A friend of mine wants to know the details of both the K Visas, K1 and K3.
His girlfriend is in Mexico currently, she has came to the U.S. on a visitors Visa. He misses her terribly and wants to go to mexico NOW and marry her immediately and he wants her back home in the U.S. with him.
Whats the best visa for him, which one is quicker? Any advice you can give to help this couple out?
Thanks!

Someone asked me this question and before i answered i wanted to make sure i give him the best advice, here is his question:
"I am a F-1 student and I just got married this month, but I don't have much money left. I need to work to support my family so what should I do to work in USA? Do I have to file in I-130 and I-765 together? or I can just file in I-765 first to get starting to work? then after I get enough money I go for I-130 and I-485."
So is he able to go ahead and file for his I-765 BEFORE he does his I-130...i wasn't to sure about that becuz i would think he would have to do his I-130 first. Whats the best advice to give him??
Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Here is another question my friend is worried about:
Her fiance's brother has been living in LA illegally for like two years now. He went to LA and hasn't been back to Mexico or anything. If they ask her Fiance about his brother, should he be honest about it or no? I would think being honest would be best, but at the same time, could that impede his getting here!?!

A friend of mine has an open appointment in CDJ and she is wanting to go to CDJ at the end of March...her fiance has never crossed the border or been to America, ever.
She doesnt know anything about the INFOPASS appointment and how to apply for the waiver...since he has never been to america illegally, do they still have to do the Waiver?
-
thanks everyone!!! i finished everything up, everything was in perfect order, i just hope we get approved!!!

After the marriage.

in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted
I am literally shaking! I just checked my case online like I have been doing daily for the past month and it says "DOCUMENT PRODUCTION OR OATH CEREMONY" and under it it says "On July 26, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you."
Does that mean what I think it means??? My husband is APPROVED???!?!?! ahhhhhhhhhhhh
:wow:
What now?? Are we done? Do we have to go to an interview???
