  1. My fiance went to his interview on 5/19/23 and the consul was unfriendly and just gave him his passport with a white slip stating that he must submit a DS-5535, which was sent on 5/20/23. tomorrow it will mark the 180 days since the form was sent. All the forums and questions that I see in regards to administrative processing with a DS-5535 is in Asian countries. Does any one know about Colombian in South America? What are my options?
  2. Hello.. I know it’s been a while but I was wondering how you processed ended. My fiancé is in Colombia and also was asked to fill form DS-5535. I’ve never heard of this, so any information is greatly appreciated 🙏🏻
  3. My fiance will have the interview this week, and I have a question. I am divorced and we need to present termination of marriage, which I scanned and my fiance printed a copy. However, checking the packet with instructions it states it must be a certified photocopy. Will this become a problem on the day of the interview.
  4. If you don't mind me asking, Did you scheduled your interview? for when?
  5. Wanted to give an update. This morning we tried again and was able to get an appt. at the embassy. The soonest appt. for us was 05/19 so we grabbed it. Wishing you all the best of luck!
  6. Hello 👋🏻 yes finally it says “ready” in my end as well. Super excited. I immediately sent an email to ivbogota@state.gov stating that we show ready in the ceac system and will like to know how to proceed. I provided the same info as it is shown in the letter that was emailed from NVC. (Case #, beneficiary name and petitioners name) we also just finished submitted the DS160 which is a requirement to make an appt. At the end it provides you with a reference number in which you will need to put along your case number to register for an appt. For my understanding is that we don’t need to wait for packet when scheduling an appt. For embassy in Bogota, However I tried doing so and it said case is not ready for appt. Maybe is because it is to soon. I will continue trying tomorrow and see.
  7. we also received a letter yesterday that it was sent to the embassy in Bogota. and the same words show up in my end. for my understanding those are generic words. every embassy works differently. For what I have read, as soon as status shows ready we may schedule an appt. and then email consulate for them to send packet of instruction or the welcome letter via email, or wait for it to show up in the mail. unfortionately, in Colombia the postal system is inefficient and at times they never receive the packet. That is why we need to be ahead of the game.
  8. This is awesome news! I also got a letter yesterday 4/11/2023 confirming that it has been sent to the embassy in Bogota. I am assuming that they sent a couple at a time, which is great. We should definitely keep in touch. In my end it still shows in Transit. supposedly I read their courier is DHL and Bogota should be receiving in 3 days.
  9. For my understading the welcome letter will come from embassy not NVC (keep in mind welcome letter is the same as the packet with instructions of the list of documents you need to take on interview). K1 works differently, once it shows ready at NVC you can schedule an appt. with embassy with out having to get the welcome letter. We are in the same boat. I got my case number on March 7 from NVC and still it shows at NVC. last time I sent an inquiry for update they said that they will let me know when it is sent to consulate. Hoping to hear something soon, it can get very frustrated. Wishing you the best of luck.
  10. I have noticed that you and I have similar timelines and from the same embassy. Any news? I am still waiting for NVC to send to consulate.
  11. When I check the CEAC . I don’t see a status, if in process, ready or anything. And I haven’t received any letter from NVC. So I am assuming that I should wait then.
  12. The NVC sent me a case number and a invoice number but in the email it states that they will let me know when it is sent to the consulate. However when I check for the case it says that I need to do a DS-160 before the consular section process the case. Not sure if I should wait or fill out the application.
